I was doing my roommates makeup for fun and pulled this out of my basket. I don't remember when I bought it and given I was surprised it was a comb and not a brush, I figured I had never even used it. I was pleasantly surprised by the dramatic lashes it made. You have to use it sparingly or it will clump up. Definately not for a day or natural look but for dramatic sexy eyes it worked wonders!

honestly, the worst mascara i've ever used. SO clumpy! it literally clumped my lashes into like 5 sections and i had to take it off right after because it looked so bad. full and soft remains to be my favourite mascara.

This is the only mascara I ever use ! Buying another kind of mascara to try something new, I'm always disappointed because it doesn't do what I want it to do ie. what lash stylist mascara does ! I get the waterproof version, because it doesn't smudge, the regular lash stylist mascara smudges a looot. You really have to work the comb through your lashes because it can get clumpy, but it's totally worth it - no other mascara can make my lashes blacker, thicker, and longer. The comb's a bit wierd at first, but if you comb it through your lashes from the VERY base of your eyelashes, it'll make them completely evenly spaced out. Also, you'll get the most out of this mascara if you wait a minute for the mascara to dry a little bit in between applying more layers. I remember the first time I wore this mascara, there wasn't a single friend I saw who didn't ask me what mascara I used.

I have quite long but fine eyelashes and find this product to be excellent. It has a really black colour. Volume shocking by Loreal is not as good as this, loreal one is not very black and has a drying formula, whilst Lash Stylist has a wet look that doesnt require too much patience to let it dry. It does load colour at the root of your lashes which is very flattering if you like your eyes to look define without having to use eyeliner. IF you like your lashes to really stand out, with a fake but strangely natural look this is for you. Personally I like my lashed to look bold and striking and NOT feathery, so lash stylist works brilliantly once you get the hang of the brush. You can use the flat side of the comb to load even more colour to the roots. I always feel confident with this on. The only draw back for me is that it dries out fairly quickly and so needs replacing every couple of months.
Note: This product has now been discontinued :( I am now trying YSL Faux Cils Mascara which is lovely but does not have quite the same effect as my beloved Lash Stylist....the search continues.

This mascara went on very wet feeling. It was mainly concentrated at the root of my eyelashes. My lashes never separated or lengthened the way I wanted them to. I saved the comb and still use it to separate my lashes after using other mascaras or I sometimes use it without mascara.

This mascara is the absolute best for me! I LIVE BY THIS!!! It was really weird at first, because the applicator is a comb and not the typical mascara wand. I have asian lashes so when i curl it and use this, it works wonders!! =D After using this one, i could not go back! gets a 5 from me!

Pros: packaging has a nice feel to it (weird huh), nice dark black (very black is what I bought), no clumping.
Cons: color is only deposited at the roots but is very hard to "pull through" lashes evenly. I had no volume, no real length to speak of, and certainly no separation. I got under eye smudging, and as is the way it goes for me with Maybelline mascaras, the curl gets pulled out.
If you want to try a comb mascara, I believe Volume Shocking by L'Oreal is this type too, and it contains a primer too. I never tried this, but I DID try Flirt! Far Out Lengthening Mascara, which is available at Kohl's. This comb has bristles that are much closer together, which is, I believe, where Maybelline went wrong with Lash Stylist.

There is one single bad thing about this product, After 3 hours it leaves black spots under the my eyes, because it is not waterproof product. But it seperates my eyelashes one by one, If I hurry while applying it the result is horrible!!! I prefer to apply slowly and carefully..

This mascara doesn't really do anything beyond separating your eyelashes. Adds a little volume but not much else. Doesn't add any length for me. Not really worth trying, it's not even a real brush, just a mini comb.

I have to say, I've used lots and lots of Mascaras, and there have been some great ones in the bunch, however this mascara tops it all. Not only is it super easy to apply, but it also seperates the lashes very easily, lengthens them dramatically, and curls them nicely as well. In fact they lengthen and seperate to the extent that people have already asked me if I am wearing false eyelashes, due to the immaculateness. I remember times were I would switch my mascaras almost weekly, but since I came across this mascara, I am hooked. There is no other mascara which gives you these breath-taking effects. In addition it is very easy to remove.
Here are some before and after pics, so you can judge for yourself:

This is the worst mascara I have ever used. Period. Really clumpy and heavy and expensive for how craptacular it is (I live in New Zealand and here it is around $25). I would never buy it ever again.

I always want a mascara that could curve lashes. As an Asian ladies, we are born with short and uncured eye lashes, very annoying! This one says it can lift up to 65%. So I decided to give it a try. It doesn't help to curve the lashes at all! I try it with and without curving my lashes with eye lash curer. And I don't like the brush. It's actually not a brush, it's a plastic applicator or small comb and it clumps lashes really bad. I feel like my lashes are very heavy after using it and my lashes feel like cock roach legs! Very ugly! I will never buy this one again!

I love this mascara. Too bad it doesn't sell in my area.
Anyway, this mascara is one of my favourite mascara. It does clump once you used it for too long but it really give the illusion of thicker and darker eyelashes. It hold curls well and my lengthen my lashes quite a lot.
I actually don't use the mascara alone. When I used it alone I find it too 'watery' for my liking. I used the first layer with some other mascara and then I add the last layer with this mascara.
The result?
It's amazing.
And oh yeah, it doesn't really smudge alot when you use it.
Just a tiny bit if you use it for one whole day but it's not very noticeable and doesn't give much of a problem.

Hate, hate, hate this mascara! Clumpy as clumpy can be and goes on super super thick! Makes my lashes look like bit clumps of goop! And the brush is terrible!

Well this is a great mascara once you get the hang of using it..The most important thing is that you clean the one at leat once a week and always wiggle at the base of your lashes! This is extremely important to preventing those nasty clumps. My lashes look amazing! Lengthy, thick, and volumized! The abd thing is that this is rather heavy and weighs down a curl...So if you have straight lashes and curl I reccomend the waterproof... This is a dream for bottom lashes as well..
I totally reccomend..
I would have given a five, but it doesn't hold curl..

Honestly, I don't know how other reviewers are getting this mascara to clump..I've NEVER had that problem..EVER. The only thing I can think is that they wiggle the wand at the base of their lashes...like you do with a traditional wand. However, this is more of a comb than a brush and when you sweep it through your lashes it defines and separates them..AMAZINGLY well. This isn't a volumizing mascara tho, so don't expect it to do..what it simply can not. However, if you want long sweeping, almost false looking lashes then this is for YOU!! I do find that the regular formula doesn't hold a curl in my eyelashes as well as the waterproof version--which will hold the curl ALL DAY LONG. But, the waterproof version is a bear to get off. I like to use safflower oil to remove it, and it is also a great moisturizer for your eye area. So, you have to decide if you want ease of removal or curled lashes...but either way you still get long defined gorgeous lashes. I have repurchased more times than I can count and will again and again!

Clumps, clumps, and more clumps. But here's the great thing about this mascara. The wand. I gave up on the actual mascara itself, but use the wand to apply me other fave mascara to the very root of my lashes before applying it with a regular wand. Works amazingly for that. Great effect! So basically, I washed off the wand and keep it with my other tools, and chucked the actual mascara.
