This is my HG of moisturizers!!! I love it. I tried it based on the reviews here. I have skin that dries out easily but still gets zits and more recently had been getting blackheads, and this works wonders. My skin has been SO GOOD! After using for a month its smoother, clearer.

****This product was recommended by Paula Begoun, she said "The best option for a good exfoliant is a 1% or 2% BHA gel, liquid, or lotion. There are still only limited options for this one, including Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Daily Moisturizer"

5th Jan 2007- I decided to try this out for it's BHA (Salicylic Acid) content. I read up and found out that BHA is oil soluble whereas AHA (usually from fruit) is water soluble. Hence, BHA would be more effective in dissolving the gunk inside the pore and is also supposed to be gentler than AHA.

I broke out 4 months ago with whiteheads on my cheeks and forehead. Since my pimples didn't have heads, I couldn't squeeze them out (bad habit i know- we're all culprits). So i was looking for something to help dissolve the rough ugly dots from inside the pore.

Hubby picked up a tube for me last night and i used it ONCE. Today, the whiteheads have reduced in size and there is a slight evening out of skintone. My skin feels smoother as those gritty dots under my skin has calmed. I'm excited to see what will happen in a week!

I've tried clay masks and peel off masks which has helped with the black heads but nothing worked for the whiteheads! Acne topical creams (Benzoyl Peroxide) only irritated and dried out my skin- not the pimples. Olay's AA-AB is also an anti aging moisturizer which is a plus- i plan to use this as a night cream. BHA makes the skin sensitive to the sun, so if you use this in the day-don't forget sunblock.

The smell is a bit strong, but pleasant and isn't a problem for me. It may, however be a nuisance for some. The texture is smooth and spreads well. A little goes a long way. Packaging is so-so...it's just a normal squeeze out flap top tube.

I was a bit surprised at the price though. I didn't remember Olay being expensive before but a 50g tube for RM40 is abit steep i think. But we'll see, if this stuff works on me i think it's a gem compared to paying a couple of hundreds for a jar of high-end product. Will follow up with you guys in a week or two. I'm giving this product a 4/5 for the moment. One lippie off for packaging... and price.

UPDATE: It has helps in evening out skintone and my texture has improved somewhat. My face looks more dewy when i use this. It tends to make my face greasy the next day if used every night so i alternate. Forehead zits are shrinking but not on my cheeks (the ones with no heads) but i'm also on Neutrogena Skinclearing regime so not sure which one is really doing the job. Might purchase this for anti-aging benefits but not for getting rid of pimples.

I had to try this, but I wish I hadn't--it's just too heavy for my skin, even though my skin has been dryish this winter. My Neutrogena rapid clear treatment pads (2% BHA) were working just fine for me but I had to wonder if there was something else that would take away the last of my few remaining clogged pores. I don't really have acne, just these microscopic clogged pores (milia?) on my forehead.

Well, this certainly wasn't the answer. It didn't give me pimples, but did create a lot more of those clogged pores on my forehead, and also on my cheeks and nose where I rarely get them. I went back to the Neutrogena and they are disappearing. I switched to a more moisturizing cleanser to take care of the dryness I was having, and so far so good.

I would definitely not buy this again, although I give it two lippies because it smells good, has a nice texture, packaging is ok, gives skin a glow, and seemed to help diminish my crow's feet.

My dermatologist actually gave me a sample of this. She said it has salicylic acid for the breakouts I still get at 27 and some good antioxidants I should start using. I really like it. Nice spreadable consistency so you only need a tiny bit each application, pleasant smell, dries down well into a nice soft feeling, and seems to make my skin clear, smooth and pimple-free. I like that it isn't as harsh as some of the products aimed at teenagers, although they could probably use this too. I use it as a night moisturizer and stick with an SPF (usually Olay) in the morning. It's a touch pricey for me, but still much cheaper than dept store brands. And, as I noted, you only need a little bit, so it will last a while. I am planning to buy the full size of this asap!

EDIT - I decided this ultimately wasn't the thing for my skin, I started breaking out more after a while!

I am so happy with this product. Have used it for two months now and have had no hormonal breakouts. Skin is a lot smoother. I have used it on my kids teenage pimples and it works without being too drying.
(Me-43 years old-still oily skin with breakouts.)

This is a nice anti-acne product, it helped to clear up my skin. Has a pleasant smell and consistency, sinks into the skin well. I'm not crazy about the package, I'd prefer a pump.

this smells GOOD!just like the matching cleanser!really fruity! the cream absorbs right away as soon as i apply it.it didnt irritate my sensitive skin,so far,5 hours have past since i first applied this cream, still no break outs, rash,or any other signs of allergies.besides that this cream just started to get a moderately oily within 4-5 hours after use.its not as oily as the total effects 7x (the pump one) though.will update on results later.UPDATE//Nov 26//almost 2 weeks after use,i noticed that my skin over all looked a LOT better.it isnt as oily now as it was before, its just right.i think it was oily before because it was unclogging my pores, which is a good thing.my skin's texture is alot smoother, softer, more even tone, brighter, clearer.the scars are fading slowy but it is fading.my forehead is a lot less bumpy and my nose is completely clear from blackheads and the whiteheads are getting smaller.so far i'm quite happy with it.more update later.
UPDATE//DEC 19//scars are fading. skin texture looking a whole lot better, smoother and more even. many clogged pores has gone down especially around inner cheek area and tiny bumps on my chin. the big major ones are still there and some had broken out into pimple and had reduced itself down leaving my skin clear.i also feel it makes my skin look radient in the morning too. so far pretty much satisfied!love love love!

This stuff is awesome! It treats acne and moisturizes skin at the same time. I have oily, acne-prone skin, and I use this every night. I use La Mer Oil-Absorbing Lotion during the day. I was previously using the La Mer both day and night, but because my skin is so oily I found that it responded much better if I used some kind of salicylic acid treatment too. But salicylic acid tends to really dry out my skin. I have used the Olay Age Defying Daily Renewal Cream before (it contains salicylic acid too) and I had really good results with that, but I decided to try this Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Moisturizer this time and see how well it works. I am very pleased with it! It treats my skin at night with both salicylic acid (for acne) and also with the "Total Effects" anti-aging ingredients that are supposed to fight the 7 signs of aging. It makes my skin look better, clearer and healthier when I wake up in the morning which makes my skin better able to absorb and respond to the La Mer ingredients I use during the day. I don't mind spending a lot of money for skincare that truly WORKS, which is why I spend $165.00 for the La Mer Oil Absorbing Lotion I wear during the day. But when I can find a product that not only works, but works amazingly well AND is relatively inexpensive like this Olay moisturizer ....I am just thrilled! This is good stuff. I hope Olay never stops making this. :)

I have had acne for 13 years, and am recently starting to get dry skin and fine lines. As an alternative to the extremely skin-drying traditional acne products, this made my skin look radiant, especially in the morning after wearing it during the night.

I have the absolute worse hormonal acne ever! I get at least 10 pimples a day plus whiteheads plus blackheads and my face is an oil slick!

I have used other brands such as Proactiv and murad and they didn't seem to work.

This product is the best and only thing that has worked for me. My acne has cleared up 85%. No kidding.

The texture of my skin is so smooth and the oil is controlled. I just can't believe how great this product is for the price!

The texture of the cream is beautiful. Not too thick or thin and it doesn't sit on your face but sinks in. And it smells great. Nothing overpowering.

My skin has never looked this good!

I use it with cetaphil cleanser and witch T.N Dickinsons hazel toner.

Have repurchased this and the matching cleanser many times and it is working very well on my oily skin. Doesn't have SPF so I use a foundation with SPF in it. Feels nice and light, even under tinted moisturiser.

This is a great product with 1.5% SA (as compared to the Clean and Clear which just has .5%) and a nice, light tint. I have to use sparingly because it has dried me out, but I love that I can put something on my face to treat and moisturize it. I have always had problems with my skin (OSPW),but it's looking the best it has in I don't know when. This is quite expensive for a drugstore brand at $18, but I only use a pea-size amount, so the tube will last a while. My pores are clearer and smaller across my nose and inner-cheek area. I'll definitely be keeping this one in the ever-evolving regimen.

This is a great product for blemish prone skin compared to many of the other blemish-targeting drugstore moisturisers. I have combination skin, with areas that can be oily or dry/flaky at times, and prone to pimples etc. This cream has a slight beige colour (to set-off redness I am guessing) and is slightly thick in texture. However it is absorbed easily and has a mattifying effect. It does not really help with dry skin but it is great for the oily/blemish prone areas. I am not sure about it is anti-aging or blemish fighting properties since the packaging does not say what percentage of the wonderful ingrediants are used, not even the salicylic acid. My one problem is that it has not sunscreen protection, hence the deduction of one brush. Cost wise, it is mid-range for a moisturiser though expensive for a drugstore one.

Let me start by saying I don't usually use drugstore moisturizers. At least, I didn't. Olay's AA/AB moisturizer might just make me rethink that. It's a fairly light, 1.5% BHA moisturizer with a Ph in the acceptable range that does exactly what it says. After a month of use, I'm finding that my skin is indeed smoother and breakouts are rare. The level of salicylic acid isn't enough to dry or irritate my sensitive skin, but it's enough to provide exfoliation. I can use it twice a day without problem, although I tend to use it only at night as it doesn't have SPF. The price, at $18, is reasonable, since it's doing the job, and the packaging, while not elegant, is a flip-top tube that's practical and sanitary. My only complaint is the fragrance. It's light, but it smells to me like the masking fragrance that's used in "unscented" hairspray. A minor complaint for an otherwise fantastic product!

This is overall a good salicylic acid product. My back use to be prone to breakouts because of the hot humid weather I live in. However after using this product on my back, I hardly have any pimples on my back! My facial skin looks more even tone, smoother and has less breakouts after 2 months of usage. However, the product seem to flake off after I use my new sunblock (La Roc Posay antheilios fluid spf 50+). I use to use another sunblock (sunkiller clearwater spf 50) and have no product flaking-off problem. I dont think the product will be nourishing enough in winter though. Might need to add another moisturiser.

I have gone through several tubes of this and obviously would buy it again. I use this at night only. I hardly ever break out, but I do get lots of those small bumps under the skin from clogged pores. This has helped a lot to make my skin smoother and more even and tighten those pores. I do use Mario Badescu's Cellufirm Drops underneath to keep it from drying my skin too much and the combination is perfect for me. Just as an FYI. Your skin WILL get oilier at first because you are unclogging your pores and instead of the oil sticking in your pores and creating blackheads and blemishes it is flowing out as it should.

I read all the glowing comments about T/E AA AB (they call it moisturiser for "blemish prone skin" in Aussie) and went out and bought it. Bad idea. First up, it made my skin break out in bumps. All over. Including the eye area and the neck - where I didn't apply any at all. They looked like white heads. Before this I'd never had a single spot on my forehead and my cheek area was for the most part clear. Ironnically, after using this "anti blemish" product I ended up with tonnes of blemishes, so much so that my husband said that I looked 50 ! I am only turning 28, so you can imagine my dismay at this.

I tried to dismiss this as "skin getting used to this" but after 5 days it was a bit much. My husband, a doctor, had asked me to discontinue the product immediately and I should have listened because even after stopping it for 4 days my skin hasn't gotten over the trauma of Olay.

I bought this to give me some added treatment to prevent blemishes and I found to like it more than I expected. It works well under makeup, esp. in the fall and winter months. It makes my skin smooth and soft and keeps it clear and even treats a good bit of the existing blemishes I have...WHILE I wear makeup. However, in the summer, I found that I do get a bit greasy from it. Therefore, in the summer, i only use it before bed. I really like the scent: it is clean and fresh. Even though at little under $20, it is expensive for a drugstore product, it is very well priced for an acne and anti-wrinkle product in general. I have found that very few high end products work this well even when they cost more. I really like the size of the tube and the overall packaging. Sometimes, I even keep in in my purse when I am feeling esp. dry: when I dab it on top of my makeup, it sinks in easily and moisturizes well. I will repurchase.
