Iīve always loved to wear eyeshadow, but my eyelids seem to repel it. No product will last more than 2 hours, some would disappear within 30 minutes! I tried lots of things in order to try to fix es, but nothing seemed to work.
I almost gave up wearing eye products.
Then one day I saw this e/s base and bought it, but actually I had no expectations. The first time I tried it, I didnīt like it. I did not even got disappointed, because I knew it wouldnīt work.
The next time I tried it... wow! Hours and hours after application my e/s was still there!
A shadow thatīs not of great quality will last for 6 to 10 hours. A good eyeshadow will last until I remove my make-up at night.
Cream shadows donīt last so much, but they will certainly last more than when worn alone (and wonīt crease so much).
The scent is not exactly nice, but I can deal with it - I think I canīt smell it any more.
You have to apply the exact amount: too much will weight on you lids, and make them wrinkly, and will make it difficult to blend e/s.
The base will make the colors of the e/s more vibrant, so sometimes you will end up too colorful ; ) You only need a little amount of eye shadow.

HG material for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the box it says that this e/s base will turn to waterproof every e/s put on it. Before I discovered this, I ended with all e/s in a crease...and if I used dark e/s...well, you get the idea.

Then, a friend told me about this base, and I arrive home with the same face I left many hours ago. This is a great product, try it!!!!! Even with cheap e/s...this base transforms the color, which turns more intense and waterproof!!
I put this on, then I wait a moment, and apply liner and shadow. I use this on my lower lash line too, because I line both lash lines, and the liner stays in place all night. I have also noticed that I use a little amount of e/s using this as a base.
I would recommend this to all of you, if you end with the e/S in a crease (because you will never get a crease again) , or simply if you want your colors to turn richer.
With this, I don't need to spend a lot of money in eyeshadows...I just need to put this underneath, because this works as well with my Lascanter e/s as with my Rimmel or Maybelline ones.

I will repurchase without a doubt for the rest of my life!!!!!! And recommend to all of my friends!!!!!!!

This was my first eyeshadow base ever. I love ArtDeco eyeshadows and some other products, so I decided to give it a try, especially since I heard such good reviews for it.

I paid around $10 for it. It comes in a small, black roundish nice looking jar. I use finger to apply it, and it works great, but I'm considering brush, it's more hygienic and maybe better for spreading over entire lid.

When you just put your finger on the texture it starts to melt. Very small amount is enough for the whole lid. Base dries very fast, I give it maybe 5-10 seconds just to be sure. Colors are strong and stay put all day.

I LOVE love love this eye shadow base and I am sooooooooooooooooooo happy I found it!!! Eye shadow bases in general are pretty hard to get here in Europe, or at least cheap ones are since I suppose most department store names carry eye shadow bases, but expensive ones of course! And UDPP isn't available here in Europe booo! And I had also tried Fyrinnae eye shadow base but since (as I've complained and griped about zillions of times in reviews) I have the stupidest babiest hyper-hyper-hypersensitive eyes in the world, they were of course irritated by and allergic to the Fyrinnae base, even when Fyrinnae is supposed to be more natural and less allergenic than most brands. So ArtDeco was pretty much my last resort. So I am ever just soooooooooo pleased with ArtDeco eye shadow base! It comes in a little black jar with a screw top, so neat and easy to use and keeps the base clean and easy to store and portable. Ladies, I don't ever wear eye shadow without first applying this base! It makes all the difference in the world in the way your eye shadow will look and behave. It is very easy to apply, with just a little touch with a finger all over the lid. With this base I use just a fraction of the amount of eye shadow I used to have to use, I have pretty dark skin (NC30 - NC40) so therefore pretty dark eyelids too, so it is hard to get colours, especially light ones, to show up on them, and in addition they seem to have some sort of greasy film over them that seems to naturally repel makeup in general, so normally I have to really pile the eye shadows on in heaps about 60 layers to get them to show up and stay on! But with the ArtDeco I only need one light layer of eye shadow, and the colours show up so vibrant and true. Without base all the eye shadow seems to disappear within a couple of hours, but with the base they last all day as long as I want until I take them off. Very cheap too, about 6 or 7 euros, this is an HG for me.

This is a base for putting on the eylids under eyeshadow in order to set it and stop it creasing and generally to make it last longer. It works quite well - better than Elizabeth Arden's Eye Fix primer which I have also used.
It comes in the dinkiest little black pot which is a definite draw! I shall have all sorts of uses for it when it's empty!
The product itself is slightly flesh-tinted although this doesn't show through when you put it on. You do need to allow it to dry for a few minutes before you apply eyeshadow, otherwise you find that it won't go on smoothly. It does quite a good job of keeping it in place during the day, although after 12 hours+ it sometimes starts to crease. This must also be dependent on what brand of eyeshadow you're wearing.
I could only buy it as two pots on the net, so I won't need to replace for a while yet, but I may well when it's all finished.
Update: I have downgraded my rating : Over the summer I tend not to wear eyeshadow so didn't use this base either. Having come back to the half empty pot, it has almost completely dried out. I did try to use what remained but it just rolled around in small beads. So that pot had to be thrown out. I have moved on to the second pot, which remains fine since I had never opened it. But the moral is obviously that this product only has a very short shelf life so I won't buy again.
Update 2: I have been using the second pot for some time now. Whilst not completely dried out, its effectiveness has definitely diminihsed. At the end of the day, the eyeshadow seems to have coagulated. So it's definitely not doing its job!

I tested this product against Fyrinnae eyeshadow base, which is easier for me to get and cheaper.

Application points:
I prefer the roll on applicator of the Fyrinnae to the AD pot.
I'm very fair and the AD seems to make my skin a little warmer and changes the e/s color a bit, but the difference is subtle. The AD eye was harder to blend, but not as difficult as UDPP, and it does seem to make the colors slightly more vibrant.

Lasting points:
After 6 hours, I got slightly more smudging of eyeliner on the Art Deco eye (interesting) than on the Fyrinnae eye. Colors look pretty consistently the same as after application and no creasing on either eye.
Having used these for a while now, I find AD to be a bit less drying on my lids, but UD to prevent creasing a little more and it's quicker to apply/dry before e/s application.

I can just continue the rave about this product. Although it's my first proper e/s base I love it. I've used different ways to make my e/s stay in place (powder foundation, liquid + powder, etc) but none of those worked so well and so long as this one. I have very oily eyelids and this makes e/s stick for at least 8 hours. The only thing is I get an occasional small pimple under my brows which I didn't get before, and I suspected this e/s base, but I'm not sure.
UPDATE: I took away one lippie. Because of the pot packaging it dries out before I can finish it. It's really annoying. I've ordered Lorac's Behind the Scenes eye primer now, I'll see how that compares.

Update 7-23-2010

still do like This, but the heavy mens cologne scent was bothering me, tried lorac's behind the scenes eye primer which is unscented and I do find eye show is also easier to blend with the lorac.

I got this via a swap with a sweet girl in europe :) UDPP irriated my lids and dried them out, and many rave about this on the board.. so I figured why not.

It comes in a little pot which I love, makes it super easy to get out and only have to use just the slightest amount. The packaging is far SUPERIOR to UDPP. This stuff will definitely last you a long time. Artdeco's doesn't dry out my lids, or irriate them in the slightest. My eye shadow lasts from 7 am to 10 pm with no retouching, no creasing. Total HG.

Get a cp from an muaer if you can, there's also a couple uk sites that ship to the U.S. I think it works out to be about $18-20 usd with shipping, but definitely worth it!

I have also tried many e/s bases: UDPP, Lumene, L'Oreal Decrease, and even vaseline (yes, vaseline),and this is hands down my favorite. It comes in a pot so you only need to use the tiniest amount, a slick of a finger is all, and it goes on smooth, without drying or irritating my lids (like UDPP sometimes can) It helps the color come on true without any blending problems, and it makes your shadow stick all day. I'm surprised this is under "Unlisted Brands", since the ArtDeco line is a very nice quality line from Germany whose products rival those of MAC. Regardless, if you can try this, do! You won't regret it.

This is the best eyeshadow base I've ever tried, and I've tried many. UDPP, MAC paints AND shadesticks, etc. And this is the only one that a) doesn't make blending a total pain like UDPP does, and b) doesn't alter the color or texture of the e/s like the MAC bases do. Also, the colors are actually true when you use Artdeco. They look on your lids the way they look in the pan. I buy two pots of this at a time, even though one pot will last months.

I use it almost every day and it's my HG. It makes the colors really vibrant and really keeps all the glitter, shimmer and stuff that normaly would crease of fall off onto your cheeks in place. i adore this stuff. too bad it's only avaliable in Europe. i had to swap for it and i found a darling of a girl who was willing to CP me a couple of them at once. it's great that you only have to use the tiniest bit of the stuff for it to work wonders, so if you can get ahold of a pot of the stuff, it'll last a good while. i have SUPER sensitive & oily eyelids and this is the only product i've found that holds everything in place without irritating!

This base comes in a little pot. I use my fingers to apply it all over my lid. I use a thin layer. The creme applies smoothly. It is a pale creme translucent colour with very very little shimmer. It helps my shadows stay on the entire day - 7am till midnight. I also use this on my lash line to hold my e/l in place and prevent panda eyes. The only issue is that it started to crease slightly around 9pm - bummer. But hey, that's already more than 12h. I picked this up in Germany, because I heard Artdeco was good. (Hadnt done my usual P'ville researach before hand. lol.) It was fairly cheap, about 6.80 euros. A good product imo for its price.

Probably the best alternative to UD PP on the market, can't live w/out. It REALLY helps you keep your eyeshadows in place all day long. Highly, highly recommended.

After trying tons of different bases, including the much loved UDPP(which by the way wasn't that great&made my lids itch) and not finding anything that kept my oily lids from eating shadow,I thought I had given up till a generous overseas swapper sent me some ArtDeco base.It was instant love. The base itself is neutral color that really evens out uneven color and has just a touch of shimmer.nothing over that top just a hint.I let it set for a few seconds and then apply shadow and liner and the both stay ALL day long. What's even more impressive is that I live in the south and it's currently summer here which gets disgustingly hot&over the top humid. And while by the end of a day all my makeup has all but dripped off,my shadow still looks freshly applied.I only wish that ArtDeco was available in the US:(

I've been using UDPP for the longest time, and I'm happy with it, although it's a bit pricey. The only complaint is that it won't allow for a smooth blending of my e/s.
I finally found the Artdeco base in a boutique, and decided to try it, given the good reviews.
I only used it once, but I already like it better than the UDPP.
It's flesh colored, a bit shimmery, but not noticeably so. It allowed me to blend the e/s easily, and the e/s colors stayed true, I could say they looked actually brighter. Also, my eyeliner went on smoothly, while UDPP made my e/l application a bit more difficult.
I came home from a night of dancing and sweating, on a hot, humid night, to a still perfect eye make-up, that looked as fresh as I had applied it hours before.
I like the container more than UDPP's, the only problem is that the UDPP is much easier for me to find than Artdeco. But I won't have this problem for a while, since the pot looks like it will last a very long time.

I tried this cos my Urban Decay's Potion was running out, and it was so cheap that I said, "why not?". Oh. My. God. I'm totally converted. In my opinion this is so much better than Potion. My eyeshadows blend better and show up better than with Potion and they last the whole day and the whole night. Amazing. Incredibly qualilty for such a low price!

It's a very cheap eye shadow base and for the money and only it's worth trying it., and makes my eyeshadows last long time! But it cannot beat UDPP in my opinion, UDPP allows you to blend your e/s better and it's better for very oily lids. But Artdeco's comes second for me and I almost finished the little jar.

I love this product, and am happy to see that artdeco is getting some well deserved attention. It costs just over 5 Euros here. It keeps my shadow crease free all day, and my shadow goes on better with this. It comes in a little tube. I havenīt had any of the problems with balling up that other reviewers have mentioned. You really only need a little bit. The base is sort of shiny flesh color in the pot, but doesnīt add any color to the eyes, other than a slight sheen. I love this and will buy it again. It is the first base Iīve tried, so I canīt compare it to other brands.
