I have combo/oily skin for reference. I initially wanted to try this out as a daily moisturizer because (1) it has SPF in it already (2) many people said it was lightweight. Since my skin is oily I can't really use face creams that are too emollient or rich or else I'll end up with whiteheads everywhere. This is the PERFECT moisturizer for OILY skin! It's lightweight, doesn't feel greasy and/or oily, & has SPF.
I don't think this would work well for DRY complexions though, because I don't think it'd be moisturizing enough since it's not that rich. You could use this as a face sunblock in conjunction with your favorite moisturizer though. :)
The packaging is okay. I'd prefer if it were in a pump bottle or something similar to that because it'd be more sanitary. Since it's just in a jar & you have to dip your hand in to get it, it can risk contamination of all of the product.
Overall it's a really good product for OILY and/or OILY/COMBO skin... NOT dry skin. I think people with normal skin can even wear this... but I don't think people with dry skin will find this moisturizing enough.

It's really light, absorbs very quickly, and leaves my skin feeling so soft. Use this product on my face and body. I noticed that it began to fade a blemish scar I had on my face and a scar I had on my leg. I LOVE this moisturizer!

Ehh, after reading the rave reviews on here, I decided to take a trip to my local Walgreens and pick up a jar. Like someone else mentioned, the seal is pretty difficult to remove, but I really like the smell, after I managed to wrestle it open. As for how well it works, I think that it started to make me break out in areas I didn't normally break out in, though that could also be attributed to something else altogether. It has a very light feel when put on, and made my face shine, but in a good way. Before my skin was dull and pasty, bow it's starting to look better. More glowy, if you will. Definitely needs to be reapplied more than once during the winter season, but I would definitely recommend!

I love this moisturizer. I've tried just about everything, and I truly love this product. The first time I used it, I think I put on too much, because it just made my face feel not normal (haha, for lack of a better word), the second time I made sure not to put too much, and oh man, what a world of difference. A little bit goes a longgg way. I love that it has antioxidants, and antiwrinkle properties. AND it's paraben free! you can't get any better than that. Actually, if it was in a bottle it would be better. But no complaints from me. I LOVEEE this!

I am absolutely going nuts over finding this moisturizer. A friend of mine recommended it, because she said it made her face baby soft. It really does! It moisturizes SO well. My dry skin is dry no more! A little goes a long way with this stuff. I just want to slather it all over my body, it's so great.. lol.
I feel like my skin looks better, and this moisturizer gives it a nice, healthy glow. It's non-greasy and well I am just in love!

I have been using this moisturizer since the beginning of this year. I first used MAC moisturizer but I find it too greasy and not helping my skin stay moisturized at all. However, with this product I really love it!! It helps keep my skin moisturized and nice all day. It doesn't make my face/skin shiny or greasy at all. I just use a little dab and it goes all over my face. The best part of this product is that I use a little bit over or to set my powder/foundation and it makes my skin look so glowy and beautiful like any baby skin (for real). I am on my second purchase already... my sisters as well as my husband also use it!! They all loved it and plus there is so much product to share!!! I really recommend it!!! I just wish it was a pump bottle. So worth my money!!

heck yes!
pros: light weight, non greasy, does not give me shine, keeps my skin hydrated without feeling like i'm wearing anything, light fragrance
cons: packaging, wish it were in a pump bottle.
paraben free! woo hoo, and must i add, this has helped even out my skin tone and my skin isn't as oily as it used to be! amen for this! i really am scared of trying anything else now. this is my HG moisturizer. It's $15 but it's well worth it because you get a lot of product for the price.
can't wait to try the night moisturizer!

After seeing all of the reviews, I rushed out to try this product! I am sorry to say, I did not get the same results. Pros: It was lightweight, smells good, and did make my skin feel soft after applying it. Cons: It started to cause acne in areas I never had acne before, I started getting alot more blemishs and it also made my face to oily and shiny. My forehead would shine through my makeup and I find myself blotting my face constantly to tone down the shine. My face doesn't react well to Moisturizers for some reason. So I will keep searching until I find the right one for my skin type, which is Combination type skin. By the way, I had pretty good completion before I started using this product. I am acne prone, but I have it under control. I lost control when I started using this moisturizer.

This stuff is Great!! It has everything a good moisturizer needs: Its lightweight, has anti-aging properties, and has spf 15! It soaks in really quick and doesnt feel heavy on my skin. I have some very dry patches along my chin area and i just have to put 2 coats of it there to make sure it does the job.
EDIT: After using this product for a couple months, I have to say that for dry skin, it moisturizes well- but doesnt have long staying power- by the end of the day, I can feel my dry patches in again...

My skin leans towards combination, but a little more on the dry side and I have mild breakouts. I thought this lotion would irritate my skin, but it didn't. It absorbs quickly, has a nice scent, and you can add as much on the more dry areas without having to worry about it becoming too heavy; it's a very light lotion. I have stopped using this because it doesn't moisturize my skin enough in the winter, but I did use it all summer. Even though it has anti-aging properties (I didn't buy it for this, so I'm not sure how well that works), I recommend this for all ages, it's a great lotion.
I currently use Olay sensitive skin lotion (wonderful too!). But I may switch back to Merlot in the summer, depending on how oily my skin gets.

I have to echo what everyone has mentioned. This stuff is AWESOME. I have combination skin and my skin never feels too dry or too oily when I use this stuff - just perfectly moisturized (especially in the winter). Prior to Merlot I had been alternating between Olay Sensitive Skin SPF (summer) and Clinique Super Defense SPF 25. To compare in the winter months - Olay is thicker and a little stickier. Clinique is greasier for me.
As for the SPF it has worked for me. But I'm also the type of gal who usually chooses to walk on the shady side of the street. The price can't be beat - $14.99 for 4 oz at Walgreens! You really need to try this product if you have combo or oily skin.
++++6/13/09 UPDATE++++Merlot just HAD to change it's formula. I hate the texture. It feels tacky and sticky when you first put it on. I know why the bad reviews are coming in recently. Knocking off 2 stars and I've already re-purchased 2 jars of the original formula. Once they're used up I guess I'll have to find another HG day moisturizer.

Another great product I bought thanks to MUA. I wanted a light moisturizer that contains zinc oxide, and I found it in this product. It hasn't caused any breakouts on my oily skin. If you are looking for a nice lightweight moisturizer, give this a try. I got it at walgreens for like $12.

I came across this product while at Walgreens. I was given a sample and tried it out. I really like that it isn't greasy and absorbs very quickly. I haven't broken out or started any new pimples since using this product. I will probably try out the complete line. I also like the fragrance and I am very picky about that. I apply the Merlot night cream and when I get up in the morning my skin has a smoother texture and nice glow to it.

Simply love it. The great smell, the great texture, the good effect! I am combination and it works great for me in all seasons except the winter. But I can just put another layer :)
I will recommend it to my friends.

This is a wonderful product. As you can see from the product review grapeseed extract is high in the ingridient list of this product. The high antioxidant concentrations is very good for your skin. I have been using it now for a few weeks and my skin appears radiant. I love it. The line has the quality of more expensive lines at a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend it. The line has many other products, including a night cream. This is totally worth it. It is lightly scented.

I was in a Wal-greens and happened upon this moisturizer. I truely like this, it isn't heavy and thick or greasy, plus it is lightly scented! I bought the body firming lotion, and it is great as well. I highly recommend this!

This moisturizer is listed twice in MUA's P'Ville, so I'll duplicate my review again here.
Merlot Grape Seed Moisturizer w/ SPF 15 is a very lightweight, daytime gel-creme that is rich in antioxidants from red grape seed polyphenols and offers a physical SPF 15 from zinc oxide. It moisturizes well but doesn't leave any greasy residue. For my dry skin I would say this would be perfect in the summer but needing a supplemental moisture boost in the winter. Right now (dry winter air) I'm pairing this with a few drops of an antioxidant-rich oil to create the perfect moisture balance, though in the summer I know I could skip the oil.
Merlot's texture is incredibly lightweight and wears **phenomenally** under makeup. I used to use Olay Complete and with Olay my foundation tended to break down and wear off throughout the day. The Olay never completely absorbed and it seemed to cause mascara smudging under my eyes. With Merlot my skin is hydrated, plumped up, prepped, greaseless and perfect for foundation. No sticky layers and no moisturizer "shine" to affect the finish of my makeup. My foundation has been lasting longer and looking fresher with this than with the Olay Complete.
There is a light, natural scent to this gel-creme which comes from the nurturing ingredients, and the scent fades quickly upon application. No artificial fragrances are added. Each jar is 4 oz and at my local Walgreens it costs $15.99, which makes it a better value than Caudalie or Lancome Vinefit. Highly recommended.
Ingredients: Purified water, grape seed polyphenols, propylene glycol, petrolatum, dimethicone, chamomile extract, cetyl alcohol, glyceryl monostearate, stearic acid, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, triethanolamine, carbomer 940, comfrey extract, aloe vera and zinc oxide.

Merlot facial moisturizer is a wonderful product! It is easy to get and at a pretty cheap price. It contains a very high precentage of grape-seed antioxidants which have been found to help aging skin by preventing the signs of aging. Grape-seed antioxidants have been found to be 50 times stronger than vitamin E and 25 times stronger than vitamin C. This is the absolute lightest lotion, not greasy or heavy. It contains SPF 15, and I swear that it is THE lightest sunblock I have ever found for your face. I have combination skin; this product is great for the dry areas and great for the oily areas too. The packaging of this product is very simplistic and not fancy at all. But I think that is a good thing, the less money spent on packaging the more money spent on the product. I definitely recommend this product!! You can get it at Walgreen's so its easy to find. I am a beauty advisor there, so if anybody has any questions, please feel free to email me on here.
