It is good and preventing blemishes. It does burn a bit though. Would not suggest for anyone with sensative skin

This is quite a harsh product so I wouldn't recommend it for people with sensitive skin. I use this as my weapon against pimples and zits and it works really well. It kinda dries out your skin though however I find that by the next 2 days, my pimple or soon to be pimple is gone =)

EDIT: I should have added that this had clove and eucalyptus oil in it, which might irritate the skin of other users', but I didn't mind it, at least in every season but winter. Now they've changed the formula. It's still a medicated toner, but for my thick, oily skin, it's not as effective in fighting oil on my T-zone. It actually might be better suited to most customers' skin.
I re-purchase generic versions of this because it's cheap, but I'm guessing there are much better drugstore astringents with salicylic acid out there.
I'm on a low dose of Accutane and have skin with a mind of it's own...formerly oily and cystic, and currently, more predictable. Now it's combination and drier in winter, which I take into mind when using the product.
That said, this is a no-fuss astringent with a minty scent (not overpowering) and leaves a cool menthol/peppermint tingle on your skin after use (depends on whether you'd find that irritating). Neither the scent or the "tingle" last too long. It's helping removing extra make-up, sweat and dirt that soap leaves and actually does seem to help control oil for a while. (To be fair...the Accutane probably deserves most of the credit for it...this is just the icing on the cake.)
I've tried other drugstore toners with added ingredients and scents; even if they had the same active ingredient and (somewhat) the same formula, they had a sickening after-scent, left my skin with a sticky film, or had the opposite effect and dried/stung too much.
This is no frills, simple, and pretty effective. As an added bonus, it's rated relatively well at Skin Deep http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com/product.php?prod_id=2718

This is the review for the Deep Cleansing Astringent with Salicylic Acid 2%. I don't recommend you use this all over your face because it can be drying and you will feel like you are breathing in alcohol straight from the bottle - WHEW! But it works REALLY well. Can' t say for sure if it is the high alcohol content or the SA or the combination of both, but use it as a spot treatment with a cotton swab and it really helps to flatten anything out. That being said, here is the catch: You can combat the pimple/acne but depending on where you use it on your face (ie some areas are more vulnerable to dryness than other areas) once the battle is over, you may spend the next few days battling flaky skin. I once used this to spot treat a zit around my nose and the zit flattened out the next day but I spent the next 4 days trying to get rid of the flakiness. It was makeup hell. However, I have used this to spot treat acne on my forehead and temples and I never experienced flaking there, so use with common sense and caution- stay away from nose, lip and eye area and other areas of your face which you know to be vulnerable. I have, on occassion, used this all over my face without a problem - like on those seriously hot and humid, *disgustingly* gross days where your skin is just screaming out for cleanliness. No flakes, not even around my nose? This is really a product where you will see deliverable outcome but your experience will depend on how you use it. If you have bacne, this is fantastic- it will kill what you have and keep new ones at bay and you won't suffer from dryness because your back skin is tougher. But it won't cure it. You will have to compound it with another product for that (like BP or liquid SA). If you use this for your back, I recommend you wear gloves or wash your hands right away because I noticed my fingers where I held the cotton pad started flaking! I keep this as a must have even though I use it mostly for spot treatment. It is a definite must have for the summer, particularly for use on my back after a heavy hot workout or on my forehead on really hot days, partic. since I have bangs now. I always use a light, oil free moisturizer on top to prevent dryness and flaking (face, not back).

This is an Acne Treatment Astringent with Salicylic Acid 2% (BHA).
I usually have combo sensitive skin, but lately it has been much oilier and I have clogged pores on my forehead. I needed a cheap but effective BHA product to help with that. This toner definitely has helped with both the oiliness and the clogged pores, and in under a week.
It is pretty simple in its ingredients, and it is the correct pH to exfoliate effectively. Although it does have 41% alcohol. It also has surprisingly not irritated me, but I don't think I'm actually sensitive to alcohols, and I believe its because of the way I use it, which will be addressed further.
It is a pink watery liquid in a flip-top cap bottle. The instructions state "moisten a cotton ball and cover the entire affected area with a thin layer" I know that it looks like a toner, and the name is "Deep Cleaning Astringent" but there are definitely some things that should be noted.
1. It is not a facial cleanser. It states on the bottle that you should clean your face before using this. I know it says "Deep Cleaning" but that does not apply to your entire face.
2. It is not a toner. As stated on the bottle, you only apply to the affected areas, and you only apply a thin layer.
Don't be all saturating your face with this stuff and then complaining about how it dries you out. Especially if you normally have dry, non-acne, alcohol-sensitive skin. You need a different product.
I only use this on my oily/clogged parts of my face once a day and it works great in that manner. I would never use it on my drier, unaffected areas. No need!
It is a very cute pink colour and it smells like a overly-boozy cosmopolitan. If you are sensitive to fragrance or to alcohol-smell, you will not like this. I do not mind it and the scent dissapates quickly. I don't mind that its in the plastic bottle, but I do mind the annoying flip cap. Mine won't open/shut very well, and it doesn't distribute the product out of the bottle very well either.
Overall, its a good, cheap, and effective drugstore option for someone with oilier, clogged or acne skin. It has worked for me in a pinch.

I had used the Sensitive Skin formula (the blue one) of this product growing up. I had hardly any acne, but used it to get rid of what little bit I did have. Back then, it did the job. However, my skin started changing in my early 20s (I'm 23 now), and more acne has showed up, especially in the last year or so. I upgraded to this product, the orange bottle, in hopes that a stronger formula was all I needed. I even paired it with Clean & Clear's Dual Action Moisturizer, but in the end, it hardly made a difference. It also contains harsh ingredients that are ultimately unnecessary (like most astringents), including fragrance and neon coloring. It's also very drying, so you will need a moisturizer afterward. After playing around with other acne-fighting products and toners, I finally found my HG product that knocks them all out- acne.org's benzoyl peroxide gel. That's it! No special cleansers, toners, moisturizers needed. That gel has returned my skin to all of it's high school/acne-free glory. This astringent and all other products I've tried have been tossed, never to come back. :]

I went to the store looking for something to dry out my acne, and I bought this thinking it was a liquid cleanser or something. When I first rubbed it on my skin after washing my face it burned like hell!! But I kept using it. I thought that might mean it was working. I used this in the morning and before I went to bed. Three days later my skin was flaking off a little, but yeah my acne problem definetley improved! Hard-core acne treatments like this always make me flake, so once my skin gets used to it it'll be a big help.

i really like this product. i went to walgreens one day looking for a toner and found this. i use it with some blue cleanser (that i think is from clean & clear too). it didn't really CLEAR UP my acne but it helped control it and keep it from flaring up. i am on my last drop and plan on getting some more. i would suggest only using this toner at night because it kind of stings and leaves an almost shiny look on your face. overall, i like this toner.

I love this product! works wonderfully with my skin.It stings bad but I like the feeling.and i like the scent too.

Love this toner! It makes your skin tingle, and it really cleans away everything. After I wash my face I use this, and it still picks up traces of my foundation deep in the pores! It's amazing how deep it cleans. I use it midday to remove my oil and it works fabulously. I recommend this. But if you have sensitive skin, be warned. I have acne prone, oily skin, and nothing irritates it. It may sting a bit too much if you're sensitive.
