one of my favorite eyeshadows. it's a deep eggplant purple with a hint of red/burgandy undertones. the texture though, kind of bothers me. it's not as smooth as i want. and sometimes hard to blend. it has very little slight shimmer. overall, i'd recommend this to anyone

Intense burgundy plum flecked with red shimmer, velvet.

I asked a makeup artist at the MAC store to show me a "Must-Have Eyeshadow" and this is the one she took me to. I was a little skeptical as I usually stick to neutrals, but bought it once applied. This shadow is, like everyone says, a sort of dark burgundy color. I think it shifts tones a bit when applied in different ways, like if applied in a light wash the purple takes on a slightly red tint, and applied stronger in a concentrated area it looks browner. I turn this shade when I get a bad bruise. The texture is Velvet, so it's closer to Matte than Satin but contains enough shimmer to keep it from looking totally flat, though you can't see the particles at all. It's like magic.

I've been using it every day for the past few weeks, so the makeup artist was right. I apply it to the outer corners of my eyes in a v-shape, bring it into the crease, and line my bottom lash line with it a little bit. It just seems to bring the look "together" without overpowering my face. I apply this just over the edges of my liquid liner as well, as Kevyn Aucoin suggested to soften the sometimespurple has left an aur harshness of liquid liners. I used Print shadow to do this before (a gray-black from MAC), but I like Sketch more - I swear, it makes my eyes look somehow softer and better... it's like the a around my eyes that's imperceptible and hard to put a finger to, even though it makes its presence felt. I hope that makes sense to everyone.

Generally, I am just really impressed with this shadow. I have dark brown eyes with slightly olive medium skin, and this shadow really seems to work for me. Arena and All that glitters pairs nicely with it in the inner corners. I can see this working for a really wide range of eye colors and skin tones, so I suggest everyone at least try it. Sketch would make a wonderful smokey-eye look, though I haven't had the occasion to do that on myself yet. The formula is wonderfully pigmented, non-chalky, blendable, and stays put (like we would expect anything less from a MAC shadow!). It's AUD$32, not limited edition, fits a palette, and a Must-Have.

I luv this product!!! It's a beautiful reddish purple. Really good at bringing out the colour of my eyes, which are blue ;). I've also used this eyeshadow on a few girl friends, who were also amazed with the dramatic look created by this e/s. Applies quite easily, and is perfect for the crease.

I like this as a crease color. I don't wear it as an all over lid color. It's nice I wear it with mythology but I don't reach for it to much besides that. Maybe I have not given it a fair try.

One of my favourite (and first) MAC e/s's! It is a beautiful colour with an intense, rich payoff. A red purple, with a touch of shimmer/sparkle -- really just abit of accent to an already gorgeous colour. Recommend this to anyone and everyone with brown/hazel/green eyes. I would repurchase this over and over.

This is my favorite MAC purple eyeshadow. It goes great with other purples, pinks and even some of my neutral colours (I love it with All That Glitters). It lasts long (with a primer), blends well and very easily and is a great shade of purple. I always get tons of compliments when I wear this. Will definitely repurchase!

This looks beautiful in the crease when paired with naked lunch on the lid. It gives a good subtle darker crease without the harshness of a black or another dark colour. Sketch doesn't pick up well on the brush.. it takes a lot of effort to put it on but worth it.

Would most likely repurchase.

Meh, I do not get what all the hype is about. It looks like I punched myself and gave myself a black eye. Yes, that is roughly the color of this shade: a bruise-like color. The texture, to me, is chalky and not blendable - although it may be that my friend abused it too much trying to get it to work for her before giving up and giving the shade to me.
Maybe it will work better for a smoky eye effect - deposited close to the lash line to get that seductive, alluring look.

I love this color on me. I wasn't sure because it's a bit of a purple and I didn't think it would be a color I could wear everyday, but it looks very natural and I can wear it during the day or put more on for night. I love it as a crease color right now. It looks really good with mac amberlights eyeshadow on the lid.

I received this color in a swap and I am happy that I did. It is quite a dark matte purple that looks like it has a slight sparkle. I really like to use this in the outer corners and in the crease of my eyes. It works particularly well with many of the light purple or violet shadows that I have. Although it frustrated me at first how hard it was to work with (your really have to swirl the brush in the shadow to get any product), I enjoy that the coverage is buildable so I never overdo the shadow (which if you do can look like someone punched you). Anyway, I would suggest this to add extra umphf and intensity to any eye look.

Sketch is a must have color IMO. It's such a flattering beautiful color that many people can pull off. It's very pigmented and goes great with a lot of color combination's. It's a great eggplant purple color. My current fave is Satin Taupe on the lid, Sketch in the crease and a little bit of carbon to give it definition and viola! Mac shadows last me a long time but once I run out I will re-purchase this great color!!

Sketch is a beautiful shade, on me I would describe Sketch as a plummy espresso - perfect as a crease color. I pair this up with Soft Ochre as my base, Mylar as a highlight and Naked Lunch on the lids. It is perfect for a dramatic look that is not so OTT - brings out my brown eyes beautifully. A must have!

Sketch is probably my favorite crease color at the moment, I've never loved a crease color more than this one.
I'd describe Sketch as an e/s that's dancing around the edge or neutral and color. It's a really pretty reddish purple color in the pan, however it comes on a lot more like a neutral with a red purple tinge to it. It's absolutely beautiful!! Apply it lightly, it shows up almost like a brown, the more you apply, the more purple it looks.
I highly recommend this color if you are a neutral junky but want to branch on and try something a little different.

This eyeshadow is probably in a lot of people's top eyeshadow lists. It is definitely a must have, i have not found a dupe for this anywhere. Great deep plum color. Great to deepen up any eye look.

Sketch is such a wonderful, versatile color. It's a velvet texture, which means it's soft and rather intensely pigmented. It looks intimidating at first, and a little bit really goes a long way. It's described as a burgundy with red shimmer, and it's very true to this description. Sketch is one of those must-have crease colors. It looks amazing blended with almost anything in the crease. It is also great for the outer v. Use it to deepen the contrast in your look, or in your blending to make things more dimensional. Sketch is a wonderful color and a must-have for me!

Who doesnt have this color?!?!? This is a MUST in every person's collection. I don't use it for an all over color, but for my crease, it's amazing! It gives such depth to my eye =) Easy to blend too, so that's a plus. I heart Sketch<3333

I like this shade a lot, but it is way too dark for an all-over lid color if you're pale like me. I probably wouldn't repurchase it, but if you're looking for a good plum to line your eyes with, or something to accent your outer v I say go for it! I've paired it with Woodwinked, which is a lovely combination.

Gorgeous plum shade- but waaayyyyyy too dark for my eyelids or creases! I can only use this to line my eyes, so I will probably never repurchase. If you can pull off dark eyeshadows, you will probably love Sketch. But if you are pale- like me- you will wind up looking like the bride of Frankenstein with Sketch on your eyes. At least it was a horror on me...

Sketch is a gorgeous eggplant color that has an almost red undertone to it... I love this shadow! I use it as a crease/out corner color with Shale and I'm loving it. It blends super well and the color payoff is absolutely amazing. A little bit goes a long way! It's a velvet if you were interested :)
