This is my favorite Neutrogena product (I used to use the old Clear Pore but that seems to be discontinued). It gets rid of the pimples/breakouts and doesn't overdry my skin. A great product!

Really helps clear up breakouts for me, without stripping or irritating my skin like so many of those prescriptions I've tried. I like the smell and it's less than six bucks are Target. Great deal.

This has become a staple in my bedtime beauty regime. I use after I wash my face w/ Neutrogena oil-free acne wash & applied Neutrogena astringent deep cleaning pads. I am very impressed with this product because keeps my face moisturized & doesn't feel or look oily.

My skin: fair, oily, acne prone, sensitive.

According to some sites, a BHA exfoliant makes a good complement for a retinoid as it allows for improved absorption of the retinoid cream. I decided to try this in the mornings while using my Tazorac 0.05% at night. Although using a moisturizer is advised when using both, I decided to watch for dryness first before applying a moisturizer (sunscreen is enough for me during the Summer), and I was surprised my sensitive skin was able to tolerate it for 4 days without any drying. Today is the 4th day and although the drying has caught up, I noticed a change in my skin tone since yesterday--all for the better. My skin looks less pink and dull, and the few remaining acne spots much less inflamed. I definitely recommend trying this with a retinoid, or at least with Tazorac specifically.

The lotion also comes in my favorite type of packaging because the tube is malleable enough to allow you to squeeze most of it out. More importantly, the opening is small and the lid secure enough that the lotion isn't exposed to air, which can interfere with the active ingredients and always dries the topmost portion of all creams and lotions. Don't you hate that?

If you experience drying or flaking with this treatment, do as the package recommends and try applying once a day or every other day until your skin adjusts. Use a moisturizer if necessary, but don't give up on this because of the drying. It's a common side effect. And if I can learn to tolerate severe drying when I first began Tazorac the first 2 weeks, then you can very slowly train your skin to tolerate this exfoliant. If it's still too drying, then, of course look elsewhere, but give it a chance. I will update as I continue applying the treatment with moisturizer this time.

Didn't do anything for my acne, but works great for preventing razor bumps on my bikini line.

i love this, it has cleared up my skin so well. i've used so many acne products and none of them have worked as well as this. to be sure, i still have acne. i have a pimple on my face right now, but it's one instead of the usual 2 or 3. and my redness as improved dramatically. i highly recommend this to anyone with acne. i use this twice a day with a gentle cleanser and clean&clear's persa-gel 10 for the occasional breakout. i will cry the day this is discontinued because i don't know if i'll ever find anything else that keeps my acne under control so well!

Well I have never liked Neutrogena products in the past, and I didn't think I would like this, but I LOVE it. I was fed up with my skin, and wandering around Target, and decided I could give this a try. I had broken out from trying different hair products, and the pimples end up all along my hairline and typically take a week or two to disappear. If I apply this stuff to my skin they are half the size overnight, and within 3 days completely gone. I can't say that about any other product I have tried. I only use this when my skin is errupting in anger, aka pimples, but I will never be without this product. I am tempted to try other Rapid clear products.

I bought this product based on the postive reviews here at MUA and as a substitute to my beloved Neutrogena Clear Pore treatment, which as been recently retired. I tried the Rapid Clear Acne Defense for approximately 3 weeks. My skin was getting progressively worse in that time period. As soon as I stopped using this product, my skin became much clearer and better looking. I am convinced that the natural "extracts" were causing me to break out. I had to go back and buy a stock of Neutrogena Clear Pore treatment off the internet, because it is difficult to find in the store. When that runs out, I will probably try Paula's BHA lotion.

Me: Early thirties, combo skin (oily T-zone, dry cheeks), acne-prone, sensitive (rosacea). My acne is mostly under control, my rosacea is my main concern these days but I'm not taking any prescribed meds for it.

Problem: Clogged pores on my nose - when I squeeze my nose, yellow and white gunk comes oozing out. Dry flakes on cheeks due to poor exfoliation with manual scrubs so my foundation wasn't going on very well.

Solution: This stuff! Wow! I'm amazed at how truly effective this has been for my skin. I was skeptical about this product because I've never liked anything made by Neutrogena and I wasn't sure if my sensitive skin would be able to tolerate a 2% BHA very well. Thank goodness I was wrong. This cleaned up my nose, made the flakes on my cheeks disappear and made my skin texture smoother. It did not exacerbate my rosacea or irritate my skin and did not break me out. Every morning, I wake up with smooth, calm skin. I use it once a day in the evenings after cleansing. If my skin feels a little dry, I'll apply a light moisturizer over it, but in the 3 weeks that I've been using this, this has only been necessary a couple of times. I was going to purchase a Paula's Choice BHA but I'm glad I tried this one first because it's cheap (less than $6 at Target), more accessible and it just plain works! Great packaging too, no messy pump or leaking!

Well I have to say, this has helped my clogged pores on my forehead get better. The only thing is that it is a little too harsh on my face to put it anywhere else other than my forehead. UPDATE: I've been using this for over a week now and my skin can't seem to tolorate it anymore. It seemed to help at first but then my skin started to flake and get irritated :(

I wish I could give this a 4.5 (5's are for miracle products) but I rounded up because this comes very very close. I didn't have high expectations for this because I bought it at Target for cheap, but Neutrogena surprised me once again. I really like this product because its a lotion/treatment that works on my skin while I wear makeup. I don't have to wait to come home, wash my makeup off, and then apply blemish treatments. This has cleared up my skin very nicely in about 2 weeks...without excessive drying or irritation. In addition, this leaves my skin extremely soft. I prefer this over Neutrogena's Ant-Blemish Anti-Wrinkle Treatment anyday...it is significantly more effective for making blemishes disappear. I have very sensitive skin, but I find I can use this everyday without any problems. This works as prevention for future blemishes and treatment for current blemishes. I really like the packaging as it doesn't leak and is sleak enough to put in even small spaces. I will definitely repurchase.

I didn't think I would like this as much as I did, since I don't usually have good luck with Neutrogena products. But I decided to try it after I read the reviews here and I'm glad I did. I use it at night. It has made my skin smoother and clearer, without drying it out. It took about a week to see results.

This really helps clear up my skin nicely. It also makes it very smooth feeling. I use a combination of products for my mostly-hormonal breakouts. Nothing beats tea tree oil (a strong one) directly on pimples – this usually gets rid of them within a day or two if I apply as soon as I feel/see one starting to come out. Neutrogena helps with the ones that I don’t catch right away and I do think it reduces the number that do come up. Also, lately, I’ve been trying a 5% BP at night. I think this combo is helping to clear the red “scars” much quicker. I love that the Neutrogena lotion is not very drying to my skin, too!

Edited to add: After a few months using the PC 2% BHA gel, I think I prefer it. It just seems to work better and I have WAY less breakouts now!

It's not magic, but it's pretty good. I still get nasty pimples and baby pimples sometimes, but it does help reduce the number I get normally. It has salicylic acid, which usually works for me. It doesn't irritate or dry out your skin at all, which is a plus. it takes care of pimples just like spot treatment, except you can rub it all over your entire face because its a lotion. and also, you don't have to worry about moisturizing either. acne control AND moisturizing all in one, can't beat that. I usually put it all over my face during the day and put makeup over the lotion, so the makeup doesnt break me out. i would highly recommend this product but in preventing pimples and making them go away faster.

I have been using this for a couple of months and I think it's great! My skin is so much clearer. I've actually let people see me without my makeup since I've used this (yes, I am overly self-conscious).

Anyway, this is truly an effective BHA from the drugstore. I had been using an AHA, but this is working so much better for me.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! This product is simply simply AHMAZING! i cannot even tell you. I bought it 3days ago, feeling ugly, greasy and sick at the sight of my break outs....

so i went to walmart where for about 6 bucks. I bought this. I've applied it only 3 or 4 times and my face is soso clear! What I love is that you get instant results. Wash your face before bed and then apply and wake up in the morning with better skin. By the 2nd and 3rd day your zits are GONE completly. you don't even understand, yoiu have gotta try this stuff!

The formula is smooth and not greasy it makes my face soft and overall this is the best thing I've ever used!

This stuff is great! It did just what it said...it rapidly cleared my face. I was using Dermadoctor's Picture Porefect for a few weeks and it broke out my face horribly and never did improve. I quit using it on a Friday, started using this on Saturday and by Monday, all my pimples were gone. It's fading all the red marks left from the pimples much more quickly too. I don't find it as drying as BP either and the price is right. I think I paid $5 for it at Walmart. Will definitely repurchase.

UPDATE: Okay, I have no idea why this works but it does. I have extremely oily skin. I'm usually blotting my face two hours after applying make up. In the summer, my face is so oily that I change my pillow case nearly every day! I started using Neutrogena's Blackhead Eliminating scrub, Oil controlling astringent and Rapid Clear lotion- all with 2% salicylic acid. My skin is clear and if I use all these products in conjunction with Revlon's Age Defying Makeup with Botafirm for normal/combination skin, I don't have to blot or powder my nose until 2 p.m. And I put my makeup on at 5:30 a.m! And then I don't have to powder or blot again before removing it at 9 p.m. I've tried the Neutrogena products with other foundations (I've got a drawer full!) and it doesn't work with them. I'm right back to blotting and powdering like crazy. It only works with the Age Defying foundation. Needless to say, that's all I use now.

I usually use paulas but this is a good alternative when on a budget. I would prefer if this were fragrance free but it looks like this is the only drugstore bha that works for me so i cant be too picky.
