I have a lot of love for patina. Purchased it last week and have worn it everyday since. Looks beautiful by itself on the lid, i find it has a subtle olive tone to it. Very versatile, looks good with a variety of colours. Fabulous with sketch in the crease.

This is my favourite eyeshadow from MAC. When I don't know what to wear, I would just dip my brush on this eyeshadow. It can be a overall colour and it matches other brown, grey and green shades easily. It's also very buildable. I just love it.

I love this eyeshadow. It's a really interesting brown/gold/green colour - quite hard to describe. It isn't the most pigmented, but to me that works well as a natural everyday colour. I'm NW20 with green eyes and I definitely recommend giving this a go.

This is a beautiful, frosty golden taupe (and slightly metallic). This is a great all-over lid color. I agree with some people that pigmentation is not the greatest, but I'm an NW20 and I use this for a daytime eye which makes the amount of pigmentation fine for that purpose. I wear this all over my lid, with MAC Retrospeck for a highlighting shade (inner corners of the eye and browbone), and Greensmoke for the crease and outer-V; and either MAC Greasepaint Stick in French Quarter OR MAC Technakohl liner in Photogravure (although MAC Powersurge would be really nice too). I think the combination of these colors really makes brown eyes pop, and it's perfect for daytime/work eye.

I really wanted to like this product since everyone raves about this color. The pigmentation really sucks on this color, even with an eyeshadow base. This is going to be returning to the store.

I think Patina is a lovely taupey brown shade with gold. But it doesn't make my eyes pop (NW20 black/brown hair, brown eyes) and it is a bit plain. I like it better than more red based browns, but it just doesn't seem to rock my world. On its own I do like it better than Era (prefer Era for soft crease looks), but not sure if I like it better than NYX Taupe. Of course, Patina has a satin finish with Era and Taupe having matte, and Patina definitely has more dimensions to it than either of Era or Taupe. All in all if you love browns, get this. But it is just ok for me.

I'm not too happy with patina... While it looks pretty in the pot, and I like the olivey pinky sheen in contrast with the Taupey nature of this shadow, I feel like it lacks pigmentation. I am NC30 and patina hardly shows up on my lids, I really wanted it to be like my NYX eyeshadow in iced mocha, but sadly it's not nearly half as good even though it's roughly triple the price. I've had it for about 3 months now and I have seriously only worn it 3 times... I might need to use it as a transition shade from now on...but I definatley will not be buying this again after I use it up in 4-5 years.

I got this shadow as a Back 2 MAC shadow, and it stayed in my drawer for a while, but I got it out recently and its a beautiful color, such a great base color for smokey eyes and in the crease to blend. Love it.

I really love this eyeshadow. It's a gorgeous unique shades that's hard to describe but seems a bit bronzey and a bit taupe-y and sometimes even metallic golden. As I said, hard to describe! I am a fan of light shimmery shades that work all over the lid (with liner for a quick and easy polished eye look). Before I tried Patina, some of my favorites were Urban Decay Ruthless, Benefit Fawn Over Me, and Bobbi Brown Beige shimmerwash. Patina works great for that same purpose. However it is a more subtle shade, and you do need to use a primer with it. If I don't use a primer, it barely shows up on me. I don't know if it's a lack of pigmentation or if it's just a light shade. But worn with primer, this is absolutely perfect IMO. I like to pair it with MAC Powersurge or Teddy kohl liners, and it looks great. I am an NC20-25 (I think) with warm/olive undertones. I think this shade might not show up too well on some people, depending on your skintone, so I recommend trying it in store before you buy.

i love love this color, i'm hoping i got one from a bad batch because the pigmentation sucks! I got one in the pan form and i went to the store to swatch the tester (which was in pot form) and noticed it was so much better quality? Is mac making the eyeshadow pans lower quality than the ones in pots?? because the pigmentation is so lacking i almost have to use it wet! It's so beautiful though...so if anyone knows or can tell me if i have a bad one or if that's just how it is, message me.
EDIT: tried it more, and found the ONLY way this color works is over a white base .i use nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil in milk because i can't seem to find any other white eyeshadow bases being in Canada and having a slightly more limited selection. This presents a problem for me because jumbo e/s pencils crease on me, making this shadow crease too. However, the color on top of a white base is so gorgeously gorgeously pretty...so true to the color in the pan, that i am willing to overlook all of its other problems. i will leave the rating at 3 lippies and will update if i change my mind

It took me so long before I took the plunge and bought this color, the reason being my all-time terror of warm lid colors taking an orange hue on me and making me look sick. I couldn't be more wrong about this eyeshadow; there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's a light beige color with a slight golden sheen (although it looks plain brown in the pan), but nowhere near amber or orange or anything "dangerous" warmth-wise. It's excellent for both strict and flirty looks, aka it looks great all over the lid with a tad of black liner and mascara for an office look, but it can also be paired with a whole lot of brighter colors such as warm blues and greens for a summer party look. Plus it looks almost exactly like my lid color - I know that sounds so weird, nobody who's NC25 has minky-golden lids naturally, including myself, but I guess what I mean is it looks like it blends right in with the rest of my coloring, without fading into the background though. Its pigmentation is great and it glides on smooth and creamy, livening up the eye without any effort on my part. An awesome neutral for a variety of skin tones. Will repurchase.

I overlooked this shadow for a very long time- it's one of the last ones I purchased when building my mac collection, and it's a shame bc its beautiful. What all that glitters does for the light girls, is what patina does for the tan girls...its gorgeous! on me it has a lovely golden glow, but remains neutral so that its not as intense as woodwinked or goldmine for example. I really like wearing it all alone for a notch above a natural look or within more complex convos to dress it up...love it

I haven't had much success with MAC eyeshadows before, but this one is true love. It's a great neutral that can easily be worn all over the lid for a simple, easy everyday look.

One of my favorite mac eyeshadows. Looks great all over the lid, and is not too dark for everyday in my opinion. It has the nicest golden sheen that is very slight. Love!

I got this for Christmas and only now decided to try it out. I didn't like it at first but I've been wearing it every day for a week now and I love it. I like wearing something neutral on my lid with this in my crease and some eyeliner for neutral work makeup. Its also great on the lid with a brown or purple eyeshadows in the crease. Very versatile, blends super well and has great pigmentation. I love this and highly recommend it...especially for anyone with blue eyes! Will definitely repurchase :)

On my medium/fair warm-toned skin Patina looks gorgeous. I pair it with Tempting in the crease for a lovely gold neutral look that's perfect for work.
I really like the finish too. You get quite a good colour pay off.

Ohh patina, I love you. I bought this about a month ago and didn't like it the first time I tried it. Well I don't know what was wrong with it then, because I love it now. Its not too cool and not too warm, its just perfect. I love to wear it with sumptuous olive in the crease, a champagne on the lid, and a dark green in the outer corner and used as a liner. I get excited just thinking about it. I will definitely repurchase.
