I have been putting off writing my review for awhile because I wanted to see what a longer term effect would be. I started using the toner in March. I make it with 7-8 uncoated or lightly coated aspirins crushed with a small amount of water and Good Earth Aloe Vera. I put this in a little travel bottle and I make a new supply every 5-6 days.

This has reduced my pore size dramatically. While my acne is not completely gone, my face is softer and whatever cyst like pimples arrive, they don't stay! They also heal cleaner (without that flaky dry layer) and they are not nearly as inflamed.

Man if I had known what a cheap fix this is I'd have saved so much money!

I also do the aspirin mask once a week or every two weeks. I only wear foundation a couple of times a week now. My T-zone gets a little shiny but I'm fine with that.

I decided to give this a go because I had one pesky spot that wouldn't go away. I put two uncoated aspirins in witch hazel. Well, after a week of using it, I went out for dinner without any make-up (for me, make-up is concealor, eyeliner and lipgloss), and the compliments just poured in: "You must have had a good night's sleep!" "Your skin is glowing." I was worried that someone might ask, "are you pregnant?" I went home and took a good look in the mirror, and indeed, my skin looked like it was lit from within.

Unfortunately, on the sixth day I started to flake and broke out in red spots. I'm going to try making a new batch, like the reviewer below suggested. No, scratch that. I'm going to lay off this toner for a while.

I think the only problems with this toner are: You might have to keep making it so that it's fresh; and if you live in a country where they sell more Panadol than Aspirin, it's a little hard to find the right pills.

I started out by using the aspirin mask, which didn't go too well, so I thought this might be a gentler version of the mask. I loved the way my skin looked at first, but then afterabout 4 or 5 days (I use it at night only, after cleansing and before moisturizer) I started to really break out. I tried mixing a new bottle, and it started working again, so I think I need to make it fresh every other day for it to work, which is a pain. Also I find that while I don't get large pimples anymore, I still have all these tiny little red spots that won't go away, and then sometimes I still get whiteheads too. The only really improvment I've noticed is with blackheads, they are much less noticeable :)

like the reviewer below- this concoction has singlehandedly saved my skin. i had horrible acne that just appeared out of nowhere and tried absolutely everything to clear it up. aspirin toner is THE only thing that worked, and it's nothing short of amazing. i use about a 200ml sized squirt bottle from shampoo, and add 15 uncoated aspirins, a few squirts of aloe vera gel, distilled water and a tiny splash of alcohol (70%) and shake it all up. i use it morning and night and my skin has never looked better!

Aspirin toner has literally singlehandedly changed my skin for the better. It is insane how much my skin texture and appearance has improved. MUA-ers out there...really, this concoction costs a couple of bucks--you NEED to try it out for yourself!!!! I cannot stress this enough!! If it wasn't for the aspirin toner, my skin would be back to its nasty pimply, oily, huge-pore mess! My formula: Dickinson's Witch hazel mixed with some crushed aspirin, which comes out to about 3-4 bucks TOPS--THAT IS ALL! And that is all you need! I use this everyday at night before I hit the sack continously for a few weeks...and then I stop for a week so my skin does not get accustomed to it and give it a break from all the exfoliation (THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT!!) I have been using the toner since February, and my skin hasn't looked this good ever since freshman year in highschool (and possibly even better!!) My acne has subsided, the hyperpigmentation has toned down, my skin texture is UNBELIEVABLY soft, and I swear that my pores have shrunk...or become more refine...whatever the jargon is, I no longer have huge craters on my face like before!!! I really cannot stop gushing about this product!!!!! I use to spend so much money on high-end skincare that caters to acne...NO MORE!!!! All I need is my Cetaphil, aspirin toner, and Neutrogena Deep Clean, as well as good sunscreen and moisturizer...and I am set! I really, really believe that my skin has benefited so much from the aspirin toner, I highly highly encourage you to at least try it out! It is absolutely amazing.

TendSkin should work the same way-it's pretty much straight aspirin.

I was skeptical, given all the raves here, but hey, it's cheap and easy to do, so why not? I had most of the ingredients already due to my infatuation with the aspirin mask (great for under-the-surface zits). I use lightly-coated aspirins (I don't think it matters if it's uncoated or not; it just helps to have thinly coated or uncoated pills so that they dissolve faster), lots of witch hazel, a bit of alcohol and a squirt of aloe vera gel. For the past month or so, morning and evening, I've been swiping some of this concoction all over with a cotton ball after I wash my face. Then I let it air-dry, brush off the extra aspirin bits, and apply moisturizer/treatment/whatever. I still get hormonal pimples, and this hasn't helped that much with those, but it *has* helped with clearing up some stubborn blackheads I had on my nose. My pores (which are biggish) appear to be smaller and cleaner. I just noticed the other day when I went to do some extractions with my Tweezerman. There wasn't much of anything *to* extract. Hooray! MUA rules!

Those of you who fight redness can imagine how wonderful it would be to see a normal, balanced complexion in the mirror. Just start with some soap-free cleanser and follow with this toner. I have acne-prone, sensitive skin that would always be red and inflamed after any skin care regimine. I also require a lot of exfoliation so I continued to use achohol based toners because they got rid of the flakes. When I tried the aspirin toner, there was no irritation or redness, exfoliation was gentle and effective, and it quickly diminished blemish spots. I use it in the simplest form, just aspirin and water. I have some chemistry background also and followed bung's advice regarding solubility. I use 2 tablets to about 200ml of water. When used consistently, it really is a miracle! And miraculously cheap, too!

EDIT - UPDATE >
I finally found the uncoated aspirin and have learned a GREAT trick. Aspirin is not soluble in cool water. Boil the water first, add the aspirin. Then add a tiny touch of baking soda. It brings the PH down to around 4.

This way you are getting the full benefit of the aspirin!

Mixed 2 aspirins with about 30 ml of MAc Fix+ in a GWP toner bottle. Awesome...same effect as using more tablets since they can't dissolve into the mixing medium and end up as sediment instead. Smooooth skin...beautiful

I have really congested skin, which leads to some horrific breakouts if not treated properly. This toner keeps my skin condition manageable, so my skin is much clearer than it used to be. Utterly amazing.

I read the reviews on the aspirin toner and decided to try it out. I'm really glad I did. This really works for me. I had a painful pimple I could feel about to surface so I put the aspirin toner on it. The blemish went down (w/no redness) after 2 days. I have tried a lot of spot treatments and this one, I can tell you, works the best. :D

My most recent Holy Grail- the perfect Aspirin Toner for sensitive skinners like me, with NO irritating witch hazel or alcohol! In a 1 oz bottle (I reused a Burt's Bees toner sample bottle) drop 1 uncoated aspirin, or 2 if (like me) you enjoy manually exfoliating with the extra graininess of the undissolved aspirin. On top of the aspirin, fill the bottle up with PURE aloe gel (I recommend Fruit of the Earth, available at Walmart next to the self tanners and scented body lotions, not in the medicine aisle- be sure it is NOT the green kind with lidocaine! Only the pure clear gel.) Shake well and let it sit for a few hours. I usually make this in the morning before work so that by the time I am ready to wash away the day it has had time to completely dissolve (again, if you use 2 aspirin then it wont completely dissolve, but I like that :) If the mixture smells kind of sour and vinegary then you've got it right! Always shake before every use and before the first use, tap the bottom of the bottle on the sink or something so that the aloe on top also gets mixed in case you overfilled (if you overfill then you have to bang the bottle or the stuff at the top is only aloe but no aspirin).

The aloe and aspirin dissolve into a liquidy gel that I think works better than the other recipes for aspirin toner.Be sure to use round cotton pads with this and not the square quilted ones- if you dont like feeling the aspirin grains, they seem to provide a cushion around them so that you get a smoother experience. What I love about this toner is how soothing it is while still exfoliating and cleaning my skin and pores- I havent had a single cyst *not ONE* since switching to an all aloe and aspirin mixture and I havent had any more problems with redness. I use this twice a day every day, and up to 4 times a day when I've got a day off and not wearing makeup. I still have to fan myself if I get the mixture too close to my eyes because the aloe has always made my eyes water- weird but who cares- I have clear skin now!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this! Here's my version:

Fill 3/4 of a travel-size shampoo bottle with water. Add some Milk of Magnesia. Add 6 drops of Jojoba oil. Add a squirt of Aloe Vera gel. Add 2 uncoated Aspirins. Shake shake shake, soak a round cotton swab on one side, apply to face from the other side (to avoid aspirin particles).

Use twice a day, morning & night, after washing face. TADA!! :D

maybe i used the wrong recipe. i used alcohol, witch hazel, and asprin. this toner was way too drying for me. it also crystallized? or got moldy? in any case, it just got too gross to use. maybe i'll try just asprin and witch hazel. i wanted it for ingrown hairs/bumps and zits, but i found that the asprin mask works wonders on zits. using asprin as a scrub is great too. for bumps on my arms and legs, i use jergen's skin smoothing lotion. it helps, but it's no miracle.

I have truly given up hope to have great skin again, and then I tried this toner (and the mask).. Amazing - visible results and a great improvement in the softness of my skin. I use it every day and follow with a moisturizer. The results are amazing.. what's more amazing is that it costs next to nothing to make. I am so glad I found this toner and the mask.

Truly amazing. I used to use the $50 ProActiv system. It was the only thing that worked on my hormonal cystic acne. I'm 30 years old. Now, I use St Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub, followed by aspirin toner. My skin has never looked or felt better.
