The repairing lotion is the real hero in the ProActiv System. I have had acne since I was a teenager and still get spots on my face and I am now in my 30's. Yes, when you use the full SYSTEM (cleanser, toner, repairing lotion) religiously, you will obviously see a huge improvement. HOWEVER...you can get the same results for a lot less money by just getting the repairing lotion, but using a regular mild cleanser and toner beforehand. The Repairing Lotion is great, as it contains Benzoyl Peroxide, but a low enough percentage of BP so as to not over-dry or irritate your face. I use it after cleansing and it keeps my breakouts at bay and dries out existing spots fast. I must emphasize that you must be DILIGENT about cleaning your skin and applying it regularily...and drink plenty of H2O...that's a given!!

I used this years ago and it really did work well for me for a long time. I then stopped due to a rosacea issue and I could not use many of the ingredients in this product. Fast forward and i am now in my 40's with beautiful cystic acne on my chin. I stick to mostly natural and organic products, but I must admit that I still use the mask that comes with this system. It is simply one of the the best things out there. This and the DDF sulfur mask are the only two things that can really bring down the swelling and redness in a big pimple. You should definitely consider using this if nothing else has worked on your acne.

I have been breaking out regularly since I hit my 30's. I have tried everything out there. This stuff basically stopped the breakouts almost entirely. I only use it once a day, but it seems to be effective for me. My complaints are: packaging, the screw off tops are a total pain. Cost, it is costly, although probably not more than the $ wasted on all the other items I have bought over the years. Delivery program, it is a pain. I may start to buy it from the kiosks, if I can find one.
All in all, pretty good stuff, reliable.

The money is worth it. Proavtiv works like magic. I have the set. It cleared up my skin in four weeks. I use it every night for four weeks and I exfoliate every night. It cleared up every blemish and acne on my face. It makes my face smooth and clear.

I used the 3 piece kit from my late teens to early 20's. Now at 30 I have figured it out. The only product that is worth continuing at this stage of my life is the Repairing Lotion as it is a 2.5% BP cream. The cleanser has this as well, however too drying and harsh. The Toner is ok but same as the cleanser. What I use now is a gentle cleanser (double cleanse at night to remove makeup), Witch Hazel Toner and Repairing Lotion. I do this at night only as the RL is too drying to use in the morning under makeup. In the mornings I just substitute with a light serum or oil free moisturizer with my primer on top. Things to mention - This takes time to work! Give it a good 6 weeks and you will go through a drying period in the beginning. I know that sounds long, but trust me, it's worth the results. This turned my cystic nightmare that lasted over a year to now having the odd pimple here and there that don't take weeks to heal but days. Patience is a virtue here, but well worth the wait. The only thing I dislike is the dryness (but that is what BP does), and the price (I'm a member and get a discount). The only other products of Proactiv I like are the Refining Mask and the Green Tea Moisturizer. Give those a try too. Hope this helps :)

When I first used Proactiv, some years ago, I thought it was a miracle product. It made my skin smooth and almost blemish free. Over a couple of years, my skin went from almost blemish free to horrible. What saved me, actually, was EATING WELL. I know it sounds like a no-brainer, but I never tried it day after day since I was a child and had the wonderful skin I miss. It makes me sad that the Proactiv pamphlets said food has nothing to do with acne because when I changed my diet I found out it did. I'm not saying eating well is all you need to do to get clear skin (I don't have it yet.) But I saw such a huge difference in my skin, hair and nails that I wanted to say something. If you're reading this, PLEASE take care of yourself: stick with the food pyramid instead of processed foods, eat fish and high fiber and protein foods, lower your sugar intake, drink water!, some sun and air, and climb some stairs? In all seriousness, in three days my skin was glowing, my hair was soft and shiny, and my nails (and teeth!) were stronger. Again, I can't say this clears acne completely (it's been just a week since I've started being "healthy"), but good food, exercise, a bit of sun and fresh air smooth my skin and make it glow without irritating or bleaching it like Proactiv did. It does the rest of the body good too!

I had high hopes for this 3 step combination therapy plan. It didn't do a thing for me after one week of use other than my face was more oilier, and more breakouts. Plus, it smelled sooo bad, my husband even noticed it on my face ( the left over smell ) after one week, I stopped using it and began using Cuticura acne soap, the blue one. And my face has cleared up. Never had a problem with my skin until about 3 years ago, entering into perimenopause. My face is oily now, where before it was normal balanced with occasional oil in the Tzone. My opinion is save your money on the proactiv, it's HYPE. Pure waste for me!

Okay, here's the deal: it's not Pro Activ that's so great, it's the 2.5% BP ingredient in this product which is hard to find as a lotion (too harsh as a cleanser). The only other product out there is Neutrogena's on the spot. That's the same stuff, just comes in smaller tubes so you really have to stock up. So I'm giving this 4 lippies b/c it's good but neutrogena makes the same stuff!
I discovered the acne.org website- amazing tips! (Make sure you DON'T go to the .com version- that's owned by proactiv and just promotes their products). Anyway, what I learned is that it's the 2.5% BP ingredient that is the key and it must be applied in a very LARGE amount all over your face (not the pea like size proactiv suggests) in order to work. Also, gentle, gentle cleansers- no BP necessary and then a lot of moisturizer after the BP fully dries. My skin has transformed b/c of this routine- I know I sound like an infomerical (sorry!) but I really want to share the acne.org website since it's so good (and it's free, nothing you have to buy!)
Feb 22 Edit- After going off this product and only using the Neutrogena on the spot or the CVS generic, I would say the main difference is that the proactiv treatment leaves skin kind of shiny looking afterward whereas the neutrogena and cvs version are a matte finish. Either way, a moisturizer is still needed, contrary to what you might think by seeing shiny skin (it's an illusion!)

I've used this product religiously for years... The product has a nice texture and it absorbs really quick. It smells nice too. It did work and cleared up the acne on my forehead (when I was around 14-15). However, this product is really drying and I've always used another more hydrating moisturizer on top of it. Otherwise, my face would feel really dry and tight. Now, since I have more of a hormonal acne on my cheeks and chin line, this does not work anymore since the active ingredient in this product is not treating fast enough the pimples. So I've stopped using this product. Overall, I think this works if you are in your early teen years and may experiencing mild acne. But if you're already 19 or even in your twenties and you're experiencing hormonal acne, then this is not going to help. At least that's my personal point of view.

Proactiv, if you stick to the regimen religiously, is very effective!! It does not irritate my sometimes very dry skin. Proactiv leaves my skin soft and smelling great!!! I have not had a new breakout since I began using proactiv.
