Why, I ever tried this I don't even know. I have since found out that there are natural brands that are better and don't smell like POOP.

Let me first start out saying that I have tried just about EVERY sunless tanner on the market. I have come to the conclusion that no matter what sunless tanner you buy, there will always be somewhat of an orange tint in it. The difference is the amount of orange each sunless tanner bottle contains. I believe Fake Bake is one of the better self tanners on the market. The first time I used it, I had a bad experience because I didn't use gloves. Gloves are a MUST ladies! Also, I spent probably an hour and a half just trying to blend it in...and that wasn't even the worst part! When I took my shower the following morning, about 80% of the color went down the drain. I was so disappointed that I didn't even notice the color that was left behind. It wasn't until that night when a friend commented on how beautiful my tan looked, that I noticed the nice, golden brown, believeable tan I had. My best advice when using Fake Bake is to:
1) Wear gloves!
2) Blend as well as you can.
3) Apply Fake Bake at night so you can take your shower in the morning. The color guide is VERY dark and you will probably scare the crap out of yourself the first time you look into a mirror.

Like many of the other reviewers of this product, I found the initial result dark and muddy and preferred the end color after a shower. I also found that the first coat was quite light so this required a couple of go-rounds to achieve the color I wanted. Other than that, the color was very natural on my skin and the product was not overly drying after several applications. (I have this issue with some self-tan products). One of the better self-tanners I have tried.

okay...so I have mixed feelings about this one. The color was beautiful, and rarely do I ever get streaks!! It doesn't streak like other lotions. Although, the initial color out of bottle is very MUDDY. It freaked me out, and it was very hard to spread. Don't even THINK about putting this stuff on without any gloves! The color guide is VERY dark, my roommate said I look like a "tahitian princess". once you wash it off though, half the color was gone! So I did have to keep building it up, and it was not pleasant. Although, it did not streak, but the effort it took to get the color was def not worth it.

I don't know why I've waited so long to review this, especially considering it is my HG of self-tanners. To began, this does have a really dark guide. It will get on your clothes/sheets and possibly make you look a little funny (when I use it on my face I look like I fell in a mound of dirt) but it's worth it. This has the least amount of scent that I've experienced in a self-tanner, and the best color payoff. As a PPP the color looks extremely natural, no orange, and lasts quite well. Every time I use a different brand I realize that I shouldn't have strayed from FB.

this is my favorite sunless tanner.
it never leaves me with streaks,( you can see where you are applying, its very easy to apply, does give a natural looking tan. never looks orangy.
you have to wear gloves when applying it or you will end up with black palms.
it does not give a very dark color with the first application you have to do about 3 applications in a row to get your skin dark.

Compared to other self tanners, this is definetly one of the better ones. It does not give you an organge color at all. You must wear gloves when applying this because it will stain your hands. The color is not as frightening as it looks when you first put it on, that is the color guide which washes off when you take a shower. To get a deep color I recommend applying it three nights in a row. It lasts on my skin a pretty long time. I used to be an avid fan of tanning but recently switched to this product because of my fear of sun damage and no one can tell the difference, not even my boyfriend. Another good self tanner is Au Courant.

I've tried a lot of fake tan and I was looking forward to using Fake Bake as I had heard good reviews. I was a litle disappointed, I wasnt much darker the morning after using it. I prefer St Tropez to this, I wouldnt buy again.

The colour of this product is perfect. My skin is extremely pale and when I apply two coats over two days it looks like a natural tan. The only downside is that you MUST wear gloves. To do my face I mix a small amount with an oil-free moisturiser. The horrible fake tan smell doesn't linger after you shower which is a big plus for me. Overall a great product

This is my HG of fake tans!!!! Being a "pale and interesting" gal (ok, pale at least!), I have tried my fair share of fake tans in an attempt to find that sunbed free bronzed goddess look. Before Fake Bake, I had tried every brand in highstreet stores and had only ever encountered streaky results. I had also had several salon treatments but found that St Tropez made me look orange and Fantasy Tan wore off really quickly. I tried Fake Bake as a last resort and I LOVED IT! I swear, it changed my life! :-) Granted, it is slightly annoying that you have to endure a proper exfoliating session before bed and sleep in a position resembling a horizontal scarecrow, but for me it is worth it - I can finally have a tan!! Great colour, which will only take you as dark as you would normally go in the sun, and lasts for days. I really cant put into words how great I think this product is and if I could afford to stock up on a lifetime supply I would! I recommend anyone give it a try.

I have to say i prefer the mousse version to this, purely as it is 10 times easier to apply!! This can take time, its quite thick and you NEED gloves. But the time and effort is worth it, especially for a special occasion.

Im hoping Fake Bake bring out a spray tan in a bottle like L'Oreal, i will be hooked and i want the fake bake dark colour without the hassle!!!!

I was so excited using this product for the first time. A bedtime application is advised. It took over an hour to apply which was crazy considering i was only applying it to my legs, arms and chest. It took ages to dry in aswell. When i woke up the next morning my PJs and bed were a state and it took ages to wash out of clothes. I looked green but I convinced my self once I washed off the colour guide it would be ok. Well it seemed once i washed off the colour guide i was as pale as I had been in the first place. I stuck at it for the next 3 nights but sadly it turned out slightly streaky and highlighted all of the pores in my legs. The only good thing i have to say about it is that the colour despite everything could have been natural and it did last for about a week.

Overall I wouldn't recommend it. Try Lancome Flash Airbrush bronzer for easy application and a Brazilian dark tan in just one application!

I've been using savage bake for ages simply because I couldn't afford fake bake, but got bored of it and was looking for something that makes me darker. Got this of Ebay in a different bottle for £15 which is alright to pay every couple of months. When i first applied it I didn't see any change in colour at all but after 2 coats I look like I have a natural tan. Thought I looked too orange at first but got loads of compliments when I was out.
Lasts all week so only need to apply once a week. The only bad thing about it is that I don't think it can be used on your face. Depends on how good your skin is tho, mines really bad and blackheads showed up places where I didn't know I had any!
Might have to buy the face fake bake lol :)
UPDATE: I did say I wouldn't buy again but just can't find anything good enough haha. Been using this for about a year now and the bottle lasts about 3/4 months so good value for money really.

I bought the package months ago and was afraid to try it based on all the reviews. I finally got the courage to try last night. What a nightmare it took forever to apply properly and it goes on very messy. The color actually looks o.k. not orangy but I do not want to go through that ordeal ever again. I must of spend over 30 minutes applying. It also takes longer to dry than most self-tanners I've used. Most of it does wash off in the shower so why bother. No more Fake Bake for me.

ugh...i so wanted to love this product, but it turned on me. first time around the color was great & lasted while away for a long weekend. however, it really takes 4 nights to show up & you look like a cavewoman w/ the color guide. it was a beautiful color. it's just the 2nd time i was at the beach it started fading like some nasty skin disease. it was horrible. quick tip: use baking soda in the shower to help a ST fade faster. again, i really wanted this to workout but ugh how awful. now i've moved onto banana boat which is great but had the same fading problem...however i'm beginning to think that i shouldn't use the puff that comes w/ the body washes...that could be doing it! happy tanning!

I have used several self tanners. While the color is dark brown and not orangy, it looks like mud or chocolate syrup. The color lasts a long time. tried to apply with gloves, but it would not rub in. But without gloves it was impossible to wash off of my hands. It feels very greasy and annoying when on the skin. Also, of all the self tanners I've used, I think this one has the most foul smell! This was a big disappointment considering it was expensive.
