I'm a little puzzled by OPI's Rapidry Topcoat. It's in some of OPI's mini sets, but it doesn't seem to get very many good reviews. I decided to use it recently and I can see how some folks can be less than pleased with this topcoat. I applied my final coat of color, let my nails dry for 2-4 minutes, and then tried using OPI's Rapidry Topcoat. On most nails, either the brush started to streak the top of my polish color, or I applied too much topcoat and my manicure bubbled. I managed to get around the smudging and streaking by applying a little more topcoat (not wiping as much off before applying) in one swipe, but unfortunately the bubbles were something I just couldn't stop. I'm guessing that it was caused by applying too much topcoat or adding a second coat immediately after the first, but I'm not really sure. I think you'll have to experiment to find the right amount to apply to each nail. wcw74's review (2/5/2007) details the streaking problem really well and I suggest you check it out!

This product seems to have a learning curve so I'm not sure that I'd recommend this product to a nail care newbie. (I would recommend Seche Vite or Poshe quick-drying topcoats instead.) I am not going to give up on this top coat just yet, though. This is the first time I've used it, and it's a tiny bit thick, so perhaps it needs to be thinned a little before using it again. Mel_C said that it does need thinner from time to time, so I've decided to pour some of this topcoat into a smaller bottle and just thin that small amount, rather than thinning out the entire bottle multiple times. After the streaking and budging, why would I make the effort? Well, it doesn't dry all that quickly, but it does dry shiny, I've seen no tip pullback from the quick drying ingredients, and I don't even see much tipwear. [ETA: It's 10/15/07 and I do have some small chips and tipwear, but that's not bad for a mani that's almost a week old.] It's not the best topcoat I've ever tried, but I'm willing to give it a few more chances before I pronounce it not worth my (and your) time.

This is decent. I like my posche top coat better, but this is good too.

I got mine free with the purchase of 2 OPI polishes like the previous poster. I often would use a 3 in 1 top coat. This is a welcome change from the 3 in 1s. It definitely helps my nails dry faster...I can now do my nails in the evening without worrying about how late I'm going to stay up! I do find that one coat is all it takes, and with the wider brush, I only need one swipe, rarely do I need two. It leaves a nice glossy finish as well. I will definitely repurchase.

I received this product free with the purchase of 2 opi nail colors, but I love it. I applied it on top of a color 4 days a go and not a single nail has chipped. It makes your nails look really shiny and look professional. My only suggestion is to try to use just one coat, but I love it. After having used it this one time I think if I ran out I would definitely repurchase it when I use the whole bottle.

I got this as part of an OPI minis pack--I wouldn't have bought it otherwsie. I agree with the review from "wcw74" below. You have to pile it on or it gets streaky/pulls at the polish underneath, no matter if you wait a long time to apply it or not.

I actually really like this. I'm giving four just because it has to be applied just the right way. I put it on super thick, just barely touching the brush to my nails and it dries very glossy and lasts for ages. When I use it people think it is a manicure and are surprised that I did my nails myself. There is no room for mistake though, one quick swipe is all you get if you want it to look perfect.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Good feelings because it worked. One coat prevented chips for almost a week, which is surprising because usually I need to reapply top coat every couple of days. Bad feelings due to the thickness of the product. This seemed to ruin the finish, making it ridge-y and dull. The bad feelings won out and I won't repurchase since I like my manicures to be glossy.

This is a decent top coat - dries quickly, leaves a decent shine, and keeps my mani/pedi chip free for the few days that I have them on. I don't experience the bubbling or the stringiness - a drop or 2 of thinner helps. What frustrates me the most about this top coat is that it has a tendency to pull the polish off the nail when applying. Now my understanding of fast dry top coats is that they should be applied when the polish is still wet. So I usually apply my TC after I'm done painting my final polish coat or within a minute or 2 of painting my final polish coat. RapidDry will pull the polish off the nail :( If I wait a good 10 - 15 minutes then I don't have this polish pulling problem. But then, what's the point of using a fast dry top coat then? It's a decent top coat, one that gets the job done but isn't the best out there. I can't see myself purchasing Rapidry. Plus OPI is always including RapiDry in their gift sets and mini packs anyways.

I use this all the time because it dries quickly and doesn't usually cause bubbles the way some of my slower drying top coats do. The first bottle I bought I had to stop using half way through because it got too thick, there were little strings coming from the brush when I pulled it out of the bottle. Anyway, I bought a fresh bottle which has the pro wide brush and so far I'm happy with it. I might eventually switch away from this if I find a quick drying top coat I like better but so far it's my favorite for manicures.

I really wanted to like this, but it was just terrible. It doesn't dry rapidly at all (and even after waiting hours to go to bed, I still got sheet marks the next day). The application is the worst -- it dragged my polish off my nail as I applied it. This is even after I waited 2-3 minutes to put it on. It was also gloppy in consistency. Don't waste your money getting this. I was using this in a pinch after I ran out of my HG, Poshe.

I didn't like this at all. Ruined my polish that I painstakenly applied. With every stroke it took away the nail polish with it and left my nails matte, not shiny at all. Total waste of money.

I'm on the fence with this top coat... but I ultimately don't think I'll be repurchasing.

I first applied this as both a base coat and top coat (along with 2 coats of OPI polish). While it went on smoothly and dried in an insanely quick amount of time, my polish was chipped by the end of day 1 (yes, day 1... and it wasn't like I done anything to mess up a manicure). So, frustrated but willing to give it another shot, I began again. The second time I did not use it as a base coat (but used an actual base coat) but topped my two coats of OPI with RapiDry. It's now been about 3-4 days, and my nails are still looking nice and shiny but with a couple, very small chips on the tips (nothing to make me re-do my nails though). I did apply another coat of RapiDry last night in an attempt to make the polish last even longer, so we'll see how that goes.

While I'm impressed by the quick dry time and shine it leaves behind, RapiDry is quick to chip, and the product seems to be getting thicker the more I use it, so it's harder to apply a nice even coat.

I am an OPI devotee, but this topcoat just seems to make my polish chip after one day. It gives great shine, so that is why I gave it 2 lippies instead of 1, but I did a little experiment with my old topcoat (Helena Rubenstein) and my manicure lasted 4 to 5 days longer using the same polish (which was OPI, actually). Skip this one unless you wear gloves all the time and never have to reach into your purse for your keys.

Meh. I received this as an extra after ordering a huge amount of nail polish. After using it with a couple of manicures and pedicures I can honestly say that I'm happy I didn't spend money on it. Sure, it was easier to apply than other reviewers have complained about, but the finish wasn't nearly as shiny or brilliant as when I use Seche Vite's top coat. Additionally, my manicure polish was wearing down on the tips by the end of day one (and I'm not that hard on my hands). Still, I'll keep on hand in case I've misplaced my Seche Vite, but other than that I wouldn't reach for it again and I certainly won't "purchase" again.

This is the best top coat ever. It IS thick, and has a cooling sensation when applied. Work in smooth even strokes. Makes the nails dry fast. Adds, shine and durability to any manicure. Will buy again. also if it get too thick towards the bottom, add any top coat, and mix it up. HG for me.

Great product. It delivers as promised and dries the polish quickly. I swim on a team in a highly chlorinated pool, and the stuff lasts about 4 days without chipping - a lot longer than many other polishes. It lasts longer if I don't swim.

I cna't comment on the staying power of this product yet, but I am sure I won't be disappointed. I can comment on how quickly it does set polish. I applied nail envy (2 coats) and one of the laquer. It dried in 5 mins just like the package said. I have yet to be disappointed with OPI products!
