I like this eye shadow a lot. The color works well for a smoked eye effect on me. I create the look with naked lunch all over, antiqued on mid lid and brun on the outer corner. finalize with black liner and black mascara.

if i want a fast, simpler look, i apply patina all over and brun as a liner. brun also works as a brow filler on me.

mac shadows are expensive, but i think they're worth it. i like the packaging and the pans, because you can purchase exactly what you want and then rearrange them to your needs.

This is my HG brow filler. If you are looking for something natural, not too harsh and very versatile brun is the product. It matches perfectly with my medium brown brows/hair and fair complexion.
You can use it as a crease e/s (looks awesome paired with wedge, quarry, haux, ATG...) and as a liner. To get the best results, all that you need is an angled brush (like #266 or #263) pic++

It's so satisfying when something is exactly what you wanted it to be. I craved a dark brown shadow, cool-to-neutral, minimal to no sheen, and suitable as a colour on the whole lid as well as lining and crease...what a bonus that Brun is all these things, and a brow powder too. The Satin texture requiers a little more patience, but the colour is one of those staple basics that creates a dramatic but still natural eye. Love it.

I use this mainly as a brow powder. I have black hair/light asian skin (NC20-25) and it is an excellent match! It's a neutral-warm matte blackened brown shade. Not too cool/ashy looking (like Carbon) and not too warm-toned (like Espresso). It's just right! Also doubles up wonderfully as a liner or a crease colour for smokey eyes. Good lasting power too. A great basic eyeshadow that can serve many purposes.

I have spent hours looking for a decent neutral matte brown to line with, and I can never find the right shade. They are either too cool and turn grey on me, or too warm and turn reddish on me. This is a great neutral dark brown, I use this with an angle brush to line with. For everyday, I do a thin line and smudge it it, and for a more dramatic look, I do a thicker line and smudge it. This is a must-have color for me!

I use this shadow on my brows. My friend recommended this to me, a MAC MA suggested it to her and I thought her brows looked fabulous. I have near black eyebrows and this color is perfect for it. My black pencil brow liner was too harsh. This dark brown shadow darkens my brows but it still looks soft and natural. I use MAC's #208 angled brow brush which works great. I have also used this as a liner but never as an eyeshadow.

I like this shadow, I was surprised by alot of negative reviews. It is very versatile. It's a brown/gray color so you can wear brown and it looks brown, wear black and it looks more gray. It looks great with Arena shadow or Wheat as a base color and Brun in the crease. It blends pretty easily with shadows that have some shimmer in them. I would defintely buy again!!

I love this shadow when I want more of a dramatic look. I usually use it in the outer corner layered over Espresso and Saddle and as a smoky liner. If you're someone who is on camera or going to be photographed it looks A LOT better than using a black shadow, as black shadow can appear purple on camera. It can turn into a mess if you don't apply it right. My suggestion is to build it up since a little can go a long way.

I initially bought this for a smokey eye. I'm NC25-30. I have to say that what I'm using it more for now is filling in my brows. For a while I had used a CG blond eyebrow pencil, it blended ok... meh... but where my brows were sparse it did show up as a lighter color than my eyebrows. Brun however is the PERFECT brow color for me, not too dark, but ashy enough to blend well with my dark ash blond eyebrows.
I'll continue to use it as an eyeshadow paired with soba for a smokey look.

Brun is a dark brown matte eye shadow (although the finish is satin, the shade is still matte). Works well when creating a matte brown-beigey look and for that I use this in crease. I have to agree with other reviews, it is a bit harder to blend than other MAC shadows, but not impossible. I would normally use this with MAC Kid and Gesso. Not the best MAC shadow I own, but still a pretty good one and I would repurchase if I ever run out (highly unlikely).

this makes a great liner and brings out my hazel eyes. it fails as a eye shadow and won't repurchase for that reason.

I bought this shadow because I liked the name, and I generally like cool dark brown-blacks. Bearing that in mind: I can ony use it as a liner. Don't get me wrong, it's a good liner for me. But it does not blend. It does not play nice with others. It does however look and apply like cheap charcoal briquettes.

I actually reach for this often as a liner, but I hope I get off my lazy ass and put effort into finding something cheaper once I'm out. A true friend won't let you leave the house looking like a Dickensian urchin who slept the night in a coal bin. This shadow is not your friend.

EDIT: I take it back, this is a Godsend liner. I use it every day along the top lashline, usually as my only shadow. Just don't try using it for anything else.

I was looking for an eyeshadow to go over my brownish black liner so after playing around with some colors at Mac, I decided on this one because this color is a fairly dark brown with some charcoal mixed in. If only the color went on as it looks in the pan. This is a matte charcoal brown but it's a Satin type not a Matte type at Mac. Now, I finally know why the color payoff was horrible with a chalky look. So gals, I suggest looking at each shadow's type at Mac beforehand because that could really determine how the color will go on your lids. A great alternative for going over liner is the color Embark. Now, that is actually a Matte type at Mac and goes on great. It's especially good for doing natural smokey eyes.

This is a completely unspectacular shadow. I am very disappointed. The pigmentation is way too light, it looks chalky on, and the worst part is the blending. This does not blend AT ALL! looks aful...spots of color all over and yuck! pathetic. doesn't work as a shadow or as a liner. returning this.

For using this as an eyeshadow or liner I find the texture to be to chalky and hard to blend, however it work well at filling in my brows when I apply it with an angle brush though I don't intend to repurchase because I think there are other colors closer to that of my brows.

I like this as a liner. It's a rich, matte black-ish brown. I originally purchased it with Tempting to achieve a bronze smokey eye but I've found that I have trouble blending it into the crease, so I've resorted to using it as liner only and it works great for that!

I use this product to fill in my eyebrows. It does a superb job of making my brows look fuller and not so sparse. I think this product would be great on the eyes as eyeshadow too, but I've never used it like that. This is a cool-toned dark brown, and I highly recommend it.

Brun is the most perfect and versatile matte dark brown shade. It's a bit more on the warm side and goes really well with my skin tone. I team it up with Bronze for more depth and more intense color, and it tames the frost in Bronze for days when I don't feel like having too much shimmer. Must have.

I have used this for a long time, and it is my favorite shadow/liner. Brun last all day and doesn't crease. It is more cool toned and works well with a PPP.
