I am a lifelong lipbalm SNOB, and this is my HG product. The salicylic acid cuts through dry skin on the surface of really dry lips, which I find other balms sometimes make worse. The smell is a medicinal vanilla melange that's not awesome right before eating or drinking, but totally soothing any other time. I will never be without this product!

I really feel I needed to write a review on this because I feel this causes chapped lips. Initially, when I use this it feels great. However, after it wears off I aways have chapped lips (and I don't have chapped lips in general - I use lip balms to keep my lips moist). Then I read one of the ingredients was salicylic acid which causes the skin to peel. So I stopped using it and no more chapped lips!

I love this product. I always seem to have chapped lips.
This stuff is amazing. I use the one in the squeexy tube applicator instead of the pot.
I keep one in my handbag and I keep one beside my bed at night.

This is the best lip balm I have ever used, and I have tried plenty.

Fantastic lip balm! It moisturizes my lips really well in these cold, dry Canadian winters and generally does a better job than any other lip balm I've tried (and I've tried tons). The smell is nice (a faint vanilla scent) and the taste is a bit weird, but nothing major. I also like the little pot it comes in, although I sometimes wonder how healthy it is to be putting your finger in there all the time.
One thing I noticed though is that there seem to be different formulations of the same "original formula" Carmex. I don't know how to explain it, but I've purchased the same "original formula" several times and gotten different formulations. Some are pots with black writing on them, some have the red Carmex label. And the lip balm inside is thicker in some pots, and thinner and more slippery in others. Not sure why that is...

Ugh, I really don't understand the all the rave reviews for this!
I tried this out (even though I love my Blistex Lip Medex) just to see what the hype was about and I have to say I'm disappointed.
I applied this at night like I would normally do with my other lip balms and woke up with smooth lips. I liked how smooth they were, but my lips felt very odd and uncomfortable and it happens every time I use it! I don't really know how to explain it, but if I don't reapply in the morning, my lips very very irritated and the skin around my lips becomes red and itchy.
I wanted to like it and I tried it multiple times but it's never going to work so I'm tossing it.
UPDATE: Took a look at the ingredients and the only moisturizing ingredient is last on the list. Also, there's salicylic acid in it... the stuff you use to dry out pimples... how can that possibly be good for your lips?!

I bought this product a couple of days ago because we don't get it in my country and I heard good things about it. Oh my god, I want to marry Carmex. It's awesome, it made my lips super soft immediately and I need it in my life forever.

For someone that struggles with dry skin, unfortunately my lips follow suit and get super dry if I don't moisturise them. I've tried blistex, chap stick, sooo many lip balms and none of them seem to do anything other than sit like a heavy oil layer on my lips. Carmex was suggested to me and since I tried it I've never gone back. The camphor and menthol ingredients instantly relieve that tight, dry feeling and help to not only soothe your lips but heal them too. I put this stuff on every night before bed, and can still feel it on my lips when I wake up! The only downside is the pot container which can spread bacteria, so make sure your fingers are clean before you use this product :)

I have severe allergies that lead me to be a sexy mouth breather on frequent occasions. Nothing soothes my dry cracked bleeding lips like Carmex! People say its addictive, but I don't believe the drama. Carmex cuts through the crust and makes me be able to rock any lipstick!

This is the only lip balm that works great whenever my lips are really going through hell. My bottom lip in particular can get really chapped to the point where it will crack and sometimes bleed and gets really painful. Unless I keep my lips slathered in lip balm. This did what Chapstick and a lot of other Lip Balms couldn't do. Completely rescue my lips when they're really chapped. I would have to keep reapplying Chapstick and it never helped. Carmex solves all my problems and its dirt cheap and you can find it anywhere. I always apply before I go to bed.
