Guys, this stuff works. It really does. I only use it every few shampoos (I guess roughly once a week), and I follow directions. Hot oil for a minute, shampoo, regular conditioner.
The result? My thick bushy wavy hair that is prone to frizzies is shiny, smooth and much less frizzy. The difference is definitely noticeable. I've used many of the high end brands - Redken's All Soft, Matrix's Ultra Hydrating Line, Joico's K-Pak and Kerapro... which are all good to varying degrees, but using this hot oil treatment in conjunction makes all the difference in the world.
Give it a try.. I picked up a tube that had been sitting in my drawer for years. Its not expensive :).

I have used this stuff in the past and I didn't see any real improvements to my hair with it, unfortunately.

This is a great pre-shampoo treatment that added luster to my texturised afro hair. Quick and easy to use and add definition to my normally frizzy curls.

This stuff made my hair so smooth and silk (to the point that it gets smooth and silky, because it's frizzy and thick. Did better than any other product, though). I will definitely purchase this again.

Did a nice job on making my hair feel softer. It smells great and I would probably buy this stuff again.

Lately my fine, bleached hair has been feeling extremely brittle and breaking off in my hairbrush. My usual bunch of deep conditioners (Joico K-Pak, etc.) didn't seem to be doing the trick so I decided to try this. I'm very happy with the results, my hair was a little bit harder to brush out but a little Thermasilk leave in conditioner took care of that. My hair is now dry and it feels very moisturized and silky. Follow the directions, use it before shampooing and don't leave it in for more than a minute. I find that when I leave it in longer it doesn't work as well. Overall unlike conventional conditioners, this made a pretty dramatic difference as soon as my hair was dry. The ends especially are much shinier. It's cheap too!

Great stuff.. Makes hair feel like silk- conditions very well. And it's so cheap! P.S. This is ovbiously NOT going to perform miracles with your split ends... because SPLIT ENDS CANNOT BE FIXED... cut them off!

I used this when I was a teenager and bought it by the dozen. But then as I grew up I moved on to more expensive, high-end treatments. Over time I forgot all about hot oil and spend hundreds of dollars trying to recapture my soft, shiny, full-bodied teenage locks. I was digging in my closet the other day (obviously I don't go through my old beauty products too often) and I found four tubes stashed in a ziploc. used 2 tubes last night on my bra-strap length damaged hair, shampooed, conditioned, and voila! teenage beauty again! I am going to start stockpiling again and make hot oil my weekly ritual. I can't believe I struggled for so long when all I had to do was dig through my closet....

The cream version of this stuff is really great. It leaves your hair shiny with lots of body - I even use it on my roots, and it doesn't weigh them down. leaves my bangs shiny and healthy-looking. Can be found cheap on sale. Edit: I'm referring to the "hot protein" version, which is a cream and probably quite different than the oil.

Used it, hoping it would condition my dry ends. But was disappointed with the result, because I didn't see any difference. Should have bought a bottle a conditioner instead.

I thought I would give this product a 2nd chance after years of not using it.
Yet again it made my tinted & few foiled blonde hair feel like dried up straw so once more this fails the test of promises of softer, stronger hair.
In my opinion hot oil has & never will be of any benefit to any coloured hair types.

This is okay. I have fine, limp but dry hair (ack), and using this once a week or every two weeks is helpful to add more moisture in. It smells nice, but if you heat it too much, watch out. Also hard to apply.

This was probably the worst hair product I have ever bought. It made my hair feel like straw. I'm not sure where I went wrong because I just followed the directions on the tube. I had to put a whole bunch of other moisturizing products in my hair just to be able to run a comb through it because this product left it tangled and dry. Will definitely not repurchase.

I'm going to be in the minority here but I love this!! I just used this today after noticing that I had a tube left over in my cabinet. I let it heat up in warm water, and then I applied it to my hair and let it soak in for a while before I rinsed it out. I followed by using a shampoo and conditioner. Although I must admit it did not feel too moisturizing while in my hair, I really noticed the results after I rinsed it out. My hair is full of shine, bounce, and it smells amazing!! My ends are usually tangled when my haie is still damp from the shower, but I was able to brush through my hair easily. Since I just used my last tube, I am going out to buy a new pack!

The idea of a hot oil hair treatment seemed so nice...How on earth can this make my hair SO dry, brittle, and lifeless??? How can this product be still alive? How can an oil dry you out?Perplexed,

Many moons ago I used this stuff... and ICK! It left my hair so dry & frizzy feeling that I never bothered to try again (this was when my hair was virgin hair, so it was extremely healthy anyway & this made it feel like I had been bleaching it for years).

I agree with the previous reviewer. This used to be a wonderful product years ago. I don't use it anymore because it dries my hair out horribly.

Many, many years ago I used to use the Vo5 treatments and got so many wonderful compliments on how healthy my hair was. Then, the company changed their formula and added alcohol to the ingredients and my hair turned dry and frizzy. Too bad they changed the ingredients because it truly WAS a wonderful treatment.
