I was horrified once I opened this product after I bought it. It looked bright ORANGE in the container. Like, really orange, and I got the LIGHT shade. So, to the back of my makeup drawer it went. Well, it sat there for about three weeks and then I decided to buck up to my oompa loompa fears and try it. Wow. It does not look orange on the skin at all! That was one of the biggest suprises I have had when it comes to makeup. It actually looks very lovely on my PPP skin. I guess looks can be decieving afterall.....
EDIT: I have changed my mind. While this powder does not go on orange, it darkens dramatically througout the day. I will not buy again.

This is my first time using a loose powder. I actually do use the puff for when i use this as my foundation but when i use it to set my makeup i use a brush. I have the color medium and it seems to match my medium-tan skintone pretty well though it can look a bit dark if applied to heavily. Something has been breaking me out lately but i cant say if it was this. I've recently purcahsed a few new face products so i have no idea what is breaking me out. ill update if its this.

No shine control AT ALL. It didn't look too bad on the skin though, I guess, and didn't turn orange either. For those who do decide to try out this product (though I wouldn't recommend it), trash the puff. It's useless and only makes application a mess. I just dust it on with Maybelline's face brush.

Just like every other powder in the world, it was too dark for me. It didn't hel control my oily skin either. It seemed to make me skin even oilier. I'm still using it until I find a new powder and foundation. Any suggestions out there?

Pros: Good color (Light 01), nice coverage, decent amount of powder in the package.
Cons: Shine free? Not on my skin - I think I was shining in an hour or two. In fact in some wierd way it seemed to bring out the oil on my face and made me feel greasy. Also I was disappointed to see a pad instead of a fluffy puff in the container. Puffs work better for loose powder IMO.
The verdict: the whole point of the product is "shine free" so this is not for me.

hmm...not the worst, not the best either. maybe it is due to my oily skin, but this product didnt quite do its job. my skin was not "shine-free" for several hours like they claimed, my skin was shiny in only less than an hour. onto physicians formula.

Well, I have tried Prescriptives, Estee Lauder, NYC, Cover Girl, and Coty loose powders; and I have tried this. This one is my favorite so far, followed only by the Coty powder. It gives me sheer coverage with no strange casts of color, and it does control shine on me very well. The best part is that it is not irritating whatsoever and does not make me breakout at all. I like this a bit better than the Coty powder because the scent of the Coty sometimes makes me sneeze, and this is Fragrance Free. In my opinion, this is a great basic (non-irritating, non-breakout causing, fragrance free) at a very good price. It even comes in reasonable packaging that is not too ugly to sit on my dresser!

hmmm, i am also wondering why this product is getting such bad reviews because i really like it. My skin is very acne prone so I use almay foundation (not sure what its called but i know its supposed to help blemishes and comes in a glass bottle), then i apply this stuff over for a "matte" finish. I guess the quality of it depends on if you wear it plain or with foundation (although i need foundation to cover my uneven skin tone b/c my cheeks are slighly red and i sometimes have a few blemishes. When i use my foundation and then this loose powder, my skin could almost pass as flawless. I also agree with some other readers about the lame puff thing, I use a large brush to apply it to get a more even finish. (I only use the puff to help get it out but I can imagine it would deliver terrible coverage!) anyway, i highly recommend.

I agree with several posters that this powder did not do a great job controlling oil and looked cakey. I've had much better luck with the Sally Hansen/Cornsilk and Sonia Kashuk loose powders.

I only gave this an overall rating of 4 because I have not had much experience with loose powders. I use this on top of my Anthelios Fluide Extreme XL sunscreen, which makes my oily skin feel so greasy. I was tempted to stop using the Anthelios because of this until one day I decided to try Shine Free. I apply it 15 minutes after my s/s, with a big fluffy brush. It surprised me because it not only cut down the shine from the s/s but also made my skin feel really nice. Now I have to use it everyday! I can't stand using s/s without the loose powder (otherwise, I feel so sticky and gross). The Shine Free makes my skin look matte but not dry, gives a really nice finish, and I have gotten so many compliments since using it. I have acneic skin and have not broken out from this, either. I am using the medium, and have light olive skin with warm tones.

This goes on smoothly and matches my pale skin perfectly! I used it in light and I really like it. I disagree with a lot of the negative comments made about it. The only bad thing about it was that the puff was useless. But everyone who knows anything about make up should know that you are supposed to use a fluff brush for loose poweder

I hate seeing this product have so many bad ratings, when honestly, I thought it truly delivered. It kept my T-zone matte in hot Oklahoma weather. The color seems to fair pretty well with my skin tone(I purchased the medium). It doesn't leave my face cakey, but it also doesn't make my skin look bare. It just kind of airbrushes it. I have to complain about the packaging though. Very messy, but aren't all loose powders? The puff is absolutely pointless, so invest in a brush. All in all, the price is right, and I'm not sure if I'll purchase again, because I might try the N.Y.C. translucent, because of all it's raves, but then again, this keeps me mighty content also. Besides, it'll be a decade before I run out of this stuff. UPDATE: Took a lippie off because it turns out, it doesn't keep my T-zone as matte as I would like it to have, but since I <3 the way it looks on, I don't mind touching up to get that airbrushed look. Will definitely try another powder next time. Still searching for my hg.

I bought this powder since it was on the safelist on zerozits.com as well! It doesn't cause or irritate acne, but it doesn't really do anything else, either. My first complaint is the packaging. It is the WORST! Even kept on a countertop, this powder will leak through the sifter, and then since the top is so huge and you have to lift it off, the powder all spills out. I have to keep it in a bad in order not to make a mess. This Shine Free works worse than the compact powder, and looks cakey and fake. If I apply it more than once during the day, it will also eventually turn orange, which is the biggest drawback. I will never again buy this. Two lippies for controlling shine for 1-2 hours, I guess, but the color, packagaing, and quality of this stuff is nasty.

I have this in medium and it's a pretty good color. Can't really see it.
It controls shine really well after you apply it...but in about an hour or so it's back to re-applying. So, so far-ok.. Hopefully i'll find one that controls a little better. But overall....a pretty good product.

I have oily, acne prone skin and this never breaks me out and gives me good shine control throughout the day. It's a very light, breathable loose powder with no acne causing ingredients, and I highly recommend it. It comes in a generous container for the price, too. Mine's lasted for months and I still have a lot left. I can wear just this loose powder and a little concealer and my skin looks great!

For me this does not control shine at all. The texture is ok, but not finely milled. Overall this is just an average loose powder with medium coverage and doesn't control shine.

This is ok i guess. It gives more coverage than regular loose powders for sure yet it isnt realli finely milled or soft.Like other loose powders i've tried so far this doesnt seem to control shine much either. i juz use this sheerly brushed over my liquid foundation for a matte polished effect. Then i'll like blot wen i need to through out the dae. But on days wen you wan to look less polished and natural but still matte you mite like to give this powder a go alone though.

again, i have to admit that i bought this one (ispite of the poor packaging) because it was on the "safe cosmetics" from "www.zerozits.com." my readers would know what this mean but i will explain again. the "safe cosmetic" list mean cosmetics that do not cause acne, not containing acne causing ingredients.
this powder did not cause acne at all while i am using it all!
but this doens't have sheer finish (feel heavy on my face unlike other powder! powder is supposed to feel like and sheer, isn't it?)
but it does as coverage(unlike other loose powder) and it does cover up some blemishes or spots that foundation slightly covered)
in addition, it has only two choices for shade - light or medium.
i chose light and it was way too dark for me, considering that i do not have fair skin. (i have medium tone but maybe considered as "fair" compexion sometimes)
it does not have staying power and does not control oil at all. i had to touch up every 2 hours. (as usual, considering that i have very oil skin)
considering the 30g, it didn't last long. i finished it up all within 2 months..it usually takes 6 months to 1 year for me to finish the whole powder thing!)
i would recommend it for its cheap price and to anyone even with dry skin.
it is good that this powder does not irritate my sensitive skin(yet oily) and does not cause acne at all but well the shade and styaing powder...nah~ for fair and oily skin.

I bought this in light, which wasn't as light as I like. I prefer translucent loose powders. The puff was terrible, like one that comes with pressed powder. If you buy this, make sure you're not pale/light complexion and definitley buy better puffs or a brush to apply with.

I didn't like this, it make my skin look very made-up and cakey, and usally that doesn't happen with just powder. I would not repurchase this, especally after using Sally Hansen's cornsilk pressed powder.
