Wanted a neutral, cool/neutral base or eyelid color, this is it!
Recommended by an artist via e-mail after I realized frostier neutrals on lids (Satin Taupe, Patina, Shale) don't work. Nice texture.

This is one of my favorite eyeshadows ever, across all brands. I just love the color, it's a muted greyish-purple... kind of hard to describe the color, you'd have to see it. But it's lovely. I use it in the crease with MAC's Chill eyeshadow, it's one of my favorite looks and has been for a long time.

Nice pink-toned medium brown, matte finish. This is a nice "normal" color, but you can find similar shades in practically every line.

This is an old school classic. Don't even think it is around anymore. I find that it is a brownish-pink and looks good when blended with a few colours. Its a nice warm tone to wear with warm colours.
Not sure if would buy again, but I continue to use mine on occassion.

NC20 - Hazel eyes here. Quarry is a matte medium lavender-plummy-mauve with a little taupe mixed in. I would not call this a light color or a brown color. It is neutral enough that when I use it, I call it a neutral eye, not a purple eye. I did a side by side comparison though, and this is definitely closer in color to Shale than Patina or Soba (Quarry has no shimmer though). At any rate, I use this in the crease or on the lid (which looks great with hazel eyes!), and I really think this is one of the most underappreciated, subtle MAC eyeshadows around.

I did not care for this color. I am usually quite attracted to these sorts of hues and this being the case, I bought it. When I got it home I was not pleased, did not look good with m blue-green eyes, PPP. Not my cup of tea.

I really like this color - it's a slighty plummy grayish taupe and looks really subtle on. I thought it would make me look bruised, but it doesn't. Lasts a long time too!

It's not as pigmented as it should be. For the price, I was expecting better color pay-off. It's a smooth matte taupe with a subtle hint of mauve. It's an ok neutral shade, but is very similiar to dollar store quality. You'd be better off buying Jane's Eye Zing in Rock Star (found at most drugstores or Walmart).

Quarry is a light matte taupe with slight mauve undertones. I wore this today with MAC Orb as a wash, Engraved powerpoint to line, Stila Hint blush and MAC Sophisto lipstick - loved how it turned out! I don't think I will ever need to repurchase this again, as I have this in both my Color Scheme 2 quad and my Holiday 2003 face palette, but *if* I ever ran out, I would repurchase.

This is one of my favorite MAC shades. I don't find it even remotely brown. I see it as a greyed lavendar mauve that looks amazing with dark plums, deep greens and shades of teal/turquoise. It is also the perfect compliment to the new Illustrous Cream Color Base. Patted over the top it sets the Illustrous and doesn't alter the color. This has become one of my staple shadows and it will be purchased again just as soon as I hit pan.

This color is really really nice. I love browns so I dont think they are boring at all like so people do. Quarry is a light brown that has a tiny tiny tiny hint of mauve to it. Its SUPER blendable for a matte shadow. I love to wear it with Shroom, black mascara and red lipstick.

This is a great color. I usually wear it with Shroom. It is a subtle purplish-gray on me.

Quarry is a matte plummy/mauve/brown. I use this as a crease shade with my silver shadows sometimes because when a MAC MA once applied it to me that way and I really liked how it turned out. I can't use this shade over my entire lid because it doesn't look great on me that way but this is a good crease shade.

Quarry is a soft muted plum brown. This shadow looks dull on my eyes. I decided to swap this shadow since it did nothing for me =(

( I am a MAC NC20 with hazel eyes and blonde hair)

This was my first MAC eyeshadow and is a matte taupe with plum undertones. I use it with Shroom over the lids and Blackberry as a liner mainly during daytime. I would not suggest using it for nighttime as it would look washed out. I quite like MAC's packaging - sleek and functional with the clear top. I tend to agree with the other reviews though - this is not very pigmented and tends to fade away about midday. I am not sure that I will repurchase.

Quarry is an awesome neutral shadow, a sort of pinky, plummy, grey brown. It is perfect for the crease in daytime for a very soft, natural look. Matte, so no shimmer at all. Doesn't work as a liner or lid wash on me.

Quarry is a great mac staple shade. It is a matte purpley/taupe/brown shade so it doesnt give the look of too much purple and can be mixed with all different shades to give the eye a subtle amount of color.

This eyeshadow is a pretty color, but I have to pile on loads of the stuff to make it show up on my eyes!!! Thought this would be a great color to complement the green in my eyes, but it is way too subtle. Love the MAC eyeshadow packaging though.

***Ok, what's up with this? Ohhh the confusion. {{twitching}}. WHY has this been reviewed seperately 4 different times??? Noooo!***
I recieved this in a swap from a great MUA'er and I'm sorry but I just do NOT like this one. Flat and boring muddy brown with a slight purple undertone. Yuck Yuck Yuck. It's easy to wear but why would I WANT to with all of the pretty colors out there?
Ok, the texture is great. It blends well. The staying power is great. The color is putrid.

I MAC MA used this on me when I told her I wanted the smokey look. She used Electra all over, Quarry in the outer corners, and Black Tied to line with a bit of Trax over it. The result was sexy smokey and my boyfriend loves it. Now he's forever asking me, "when are you going to wear the dark stuff?" LOL! I never would have thought to mix Quarry with silvers and blacks but it looks beautiful together. Quarry is a matte mauvey rose shade, it's in between being light and medium.
