I bought this conditioner (along with the shampoo) a few months back and only used it once or twice because I didn't like it ... I don't remember why, I just didn't. So, I used it today and the second last time I washed my hair and I have to say it's growing on me. I really like THICKTHICKTHICK conditioners (I have to stress, THICK) and this one is pretty thick but it seems to soak in, rather than sitting on the surface. I have to say that I've only used it with the matching shampoo beforehand. I find it to be a good pair.
I have to warn you of the scent - it's not bad, but it's not what you would expect from a hair product, which is reasonable considering that it's also used for the delicate and sensitive furs of animals. I didn't like it at all at first, but it's growing on me.
As far as this conditioner making your hair "grow longer, faster" which is a lot of hype surrounding this product, I don't suppose I've been using it long enough to prove this allegation false. People also claim that it makes their hair thicker, which I certainly hope it doesn't, because I have enough hair for three heads.
I gave the packaging quality a 2 because although the bottles are big and sturdy, the caps suck. I replaced them with pumps, which is how they should be sold in the first place. Also, I wouldn't buy this product again because I don't think I'll have to, the bottles are so big. One other thing I don't like about this product is that it's yellow ... I prefer my conditioners to be white in colour.
I'll be sure to update if/when anything changes.

This is my HG conditioner. I use it with the shampoo, and the results I get are really good. My hair is dry, damaged, split-ends, seeing as I chemically straighten it twice a year and use a flat iron once a week...my hair's not in that good condition, to say the least. This leaves my hair so soft and smooth, shiny, no fly-aways, easy to manage. I REALLY LIKE IT! You get a huge ass bottle so it'll last ages aswell.

Great, makes my hair very shiny and manageable, I think it might make it stronger too. I like the smell and the fact that it has natural ingredients and is easy to find.

I used this in conjuction with the shampoo. Very happy with the results and would buy again. I have long, straight, full head of asian hair. It's not overly processed as I do not color or use too much heating tools, however it can get dry since it's pretty long (close to waist length). I really like this product because 1) it isn't laced with silicon, as many hair products are these days. Does not leave hair greasy or flat 2) my hair really absorbed the protein in the shampoo. It was like my hair "drank" it up. I wouldn't so as far to say it'll speed up the growth of my hair and repair split ends (I don't believe in that) but it's definitely a great shampoo and left my hair feeling bouncy, shiny, moisturised. I love it even more because it's great value. ps - the smell or texture didn't bother me. In fact I rather prefer less fragrance and perfume in products for the body.

I use the other products by this company so I figured why not give this one a try.
the yellow color was a bit off putting for me..but it doesnt smell bad and it doesnt do my hair any damage. I have yet to realise any REAL benefit..but based upon all the great reviews, i will continue to try this product out

This is my HG conditioner! I love how few ingredients it has, and that it is silicone-free. The oils really make my hair manageable and soft. The yellowish, slighly liquidy texture makes it easy to spread through your hair. I use a wide tooth comb to distribute it evenly and detangle without tearing my hair, then leave it on for about 3 minutes. Somtimes I don't rinse it out all the way (it can be used as a leave-in cond.) which I do on days when the ends feel particularly dry, I get an enormous bottle at my local grocery store for about $7 if I remember correctly.

i've finally found the perfect conditioner and shampoo combination after years of trying every brand imaginable. i use this as both a natural conditioner and a leave-in. i wash my hair with the shampoo and then i use the conditioner and put my hair in a bun, take my shower and i rinse the conditioner last. while my hair is still damp, i put a little of the conditioner through my hair and blow dry. i have long wavy hair and it doesn't weigh my hair down at all.
i suppose the packaging kept me from purchasing this earlier. it looked too industrial - suffering through bad shampoos and conditioners with pretty packaging is what i got for my superficiality. as soon as i started using this i recieved comments on how good my hair looked. this is highly recommended!

This is the cheapest conditioner I own and yet is one of the best. The detangling and anti-frizz properties of this conditioner are great. The smell isn't bad, and you get so much of it that I really gob it all over my naturally curly hair. I like it helps prevent tangles, is easy to find and has a small fairly harmless ingredient list. The texture is light and easy to massage into your hair and scalp, yet it really does moisturize better than thicker conditioners I've used. The shampoo doesn't work for me, but I'll always have a bottle of the conditioner.

This is a great conditioner. I have over processed Asian hair (I had Japanese straightening perm done to it about 7 months ago and my ends are still fried). I have been seeking for an affordable conditioner and was without any success. The last one I tried was the Neutrogena Triple action one (deep conditioning). That did what a regular conditioner would do but definitely did not help with the knots nor did my hair feel super moisturized after using this.
I would recommend this conditioner to anyone as it really does soften my hair. I put about a loonie size amount and massage it into the ends of my hair and up to the ear line. I leave it in for about 5 minutes and rinse it off with warm/hot water. My hair immediately feels softer and I love how my hair feels the next day. Soft and touchable. For $7.99 on sale at London Drugs for such a large bottle, you can't go wrong. I plan to keep a bottle of this conditioner and use it with my other shampoos.
**Note**
The texture of the conditioner feels a bit thick and very moisturizing. Therefore, I have not tried it all over my scalp or near the roots.

Okay here is the deal with this product:
Back in the 90's there was a rumor/legend going around that this conditioner, well not this version but the original stinky version that was made for horses only, made hair grow faster. I remember trying the original product back in maybe 1993 or so when it was found in feed stores. The smell wasn't good, it was a waxy, lotiony scent that didn't sit well on the hair after use. The original product also made my hair feel waxy and kind of greasy. It was pretty easy to overuse and felt nasty if you did. As a verdict, I don't remember having much extra growth, if any, from this product. My hair did seem to grow faster back then though - we didn't use flat irons back then because they weren't readily available like they are now.
Enter the newer version:
I'm not sure when this version came out, but it hasn't been out for that long - maybe 5 years or so. I purchased some of this newer version today at Sally Beauty Supply. It smells so much better than the original version and seems thinner. The original product was very thick and globby (yuck). The only thing visually that this product has in common with the original is its yellow color.
I haven't tried this new version yet but will try it soon. My hair is pretty damaged and dry so it should perform pretty good. We'll see.
I also noticed that there seems to be quite a few oils added to this version that I don't remember being in the original version...like coconut, olive, and soybean.
UPDATE:
Yes, this is a great product! Made my hair soft and shiny! Soooo much better than the old Mane n' Tail!!!

ohhhhhhhhhh geeze. i cannot tell you.. i hated this product at first and was so mad that i had to use up ALL of it. so i put up with it. it took me a while to fall in love with this miracle product.
miracle product? YES! the small amount of ingredients does not damage your hair, rather make it STRONGER and THICKER!!
THICKER!!! REALLY! i had spilt ends from all that blow drying in attempts to giving myself bigger hair. after a while i just got lazy and stopped.. and look at my hair now. I will NOT lie, everyone is commenting on my hair on how healthy my hair looks and also how amazingly fast it grew! before my fine limp hair would just do what i tell it to do like curling and stuff, but now i can't because my hair is too healthy and strong..
use this with the shampoo.
unlike other products that leave strips of chemicals in your hair to make it look like it shines, this makes it truly shine! beautifully...
this conditioner does not weigh your hair down, so you can moisturize your scalp and still rub it off.
my friend had the WORST spilt ends from strighting her mixed hair (she is asain and black) and used this as her leave in conditioner at night.. her hair is getting so shiny and healthy--will not lie, it is not completely healthy, but it is DEFINITELY getting there.
you won't regret putting up with this. love takes time!

I have heard of this product but didn't give it much thought until I was buying doggie treats at WalMart and saw this product in the same aisle. I gave it a go, the bottle is absolutely massive and was about $5.00 USD. The biggest bottle of conditioner I have ever had. Anyway, I don't think I will need to buy another bottle for an entire year because I switch conditioners almost every week (I have a lot of conditioners). I switch shampoos to but not as much. I only bought the conditioner in this name brand because I have really thick long italian hair and need conditioner more than shampoo, plus i dont need as much shampoo because I only shampoo my roots. ANYWAY, the product is good, my hair is smelling more than ever. It has a clean, powdery sort of smell and I noticed how soft it was as soon as I started rinsing it out and the softness didn't go a away. My hair actually feels different!

I love this stuff. It's not as thick as I normally like conditioners to be, but it does the job well. It feels really light and doesn't seem to weigh my hair down while it still manages to make it soft and silky. I really like the smell, too. Very light and clean. I use the matching shampoo and it seems to be the perfect combination for my hair. I haven't had any build-up yet and I've been using it for a few weeks now. Will definitely be repurchasing.

before i write a review, im going to tell you about my hair . its thick , about mid-back & i straighten it EVERYDAY . sooo , lots of split ends , but to my surprise , not unhealthy looking . so i bought this in HOPE that my hair will get stronger & eventually grow longer because it seems as if it stopped growing & its due to my ends snapping off becuase of the straigtener . the first day i used it, i was amazed . i got the 12oz DEEP conditioning bottle and it left my hair REALLY nice & SILKY. it also seemed to temporarly seal my split ends since they werent as noticeable anymore (: . butttt , after using it for about a week , it seems as if the whole "silky" effect it FIRST left me when i used it went away . sigh . BUT , split ends still sealed (: thats a BIG plus . less breakage , thats for sure . will buy again !!

read my review for the shampoo. my hair is really soft and manageable when i use this in conjunction with the shampoo. this doesn't weigh my hair down, and it has a scent that doesn't bother me. i use this in the shower as a rinse out, and then i use it on my tips as a leave in.
i wish it was a bit more moisturizing, as i normally don't have problems with dry tips when using other drugstore conditioners, despite the protein content in them. then again, there aren't many drugstore moisturizing conditioners that won't weigh your hair down.
UPDATE 7/16/11: i've updated my rating to a 5. this shampoo along with the conditioner are very good if you're looking for a cone-free protein treatment for your hair. the dry ends i was getting was from too much protein. i've since fixed my dry hair problems by using a cheap cocoa butter body creme as a deep conditioner (Queen Helene, to be exact), and this combo has worked wonders on maintaining my scalp health and hair growth (to see how i do it, please read my Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Creme review). i'd buy this product again. in fact, i think i'll stick to equine hair care products from now on, because my hair structure/cuticles/diameter/shaft is very similar to horse hair anyway, it seems to be much gentler on the scalp while being able to cut through grease when i'm not able to wash daily, and i'm trying to remove cones from my regimen.

It's odd how the shampoo is thicker than the actual conditioner.
Overall, it works great! I get in the shower, wash my hair & then apply this stuff...continue to wash my body etc then I wash this stuff off. It leaves my hair feeling great & smells good as well! Although, it might slightly weigh down your hair, but still I love this product regardless.

I use this most of the time when I wash my hair. I recently cut off 5 inches of hair because it was so damaged and it needs to be trimmed soon because I have some new moderate split ends, but, this really helps with them. I wash with the matching shampoo and then put in a handful of the stuff. My hair drinks it up. I put on a shower cap and let it sit for 20 minutes, rinse it out and my hair feels great. Yes, the split ends are there still, but it makes my hair overall feel stronger and softer. I also use it to shave and as strange as it sounds, on very dry cold days in the dead of winter when I my face feels particualry dry and taut I smooth some on my face in the shower and then rinse well. Makes skin soft too. My only qualm about this conditioner is that sometimes it can leave my hair feeling a little rough. It does make it super strong, but a moisturizing leave in is needed afterward.

I did NOT like putting these ingredients in my hair so.....
I USED IT TO SHAVE!
It works really really well, so I might as well call this a review for shaving stuff =) This makes skin feel really smoooth after you shave! It's also super super cheap for a LOT of product. I used this with the Gillette Daisy 3 triple blade razors. This was my first time shaving too, with no cuts or anything. Just smooth legs.
