I lived off this foundation for a year while I had bad skin.
Pros
-Good coverage
-Long lasting
-Doesn't make me shiny
Cons
-Thick so can appear 'cakey'
-Blocked my pores and made my skin worse
-Heavy on the skin, feel like you're wearing make up
I loved this foundation due to the coverage it provided, but if you have really good skin the thickness is unnecessary for daily wear. I'd definitely recommend for nights out though due to the fact it lasts long and doesn't make you appear shiny!

I was pleasantly surprised to find I adore MAC Pro Longwear Foundation, after swearing off Studio Fix Fluid (too heavy on my skin, broke me out and made me shiny). When the MUA put Pro Longwear on my skin, I hated it because it felt quite heavy and over the top (I like a natural finish, but enough to cover or at least dull down my dark acne scars). I took a sample home and tried it for a few days and it's really grown on me and has become my new favourite!
PROS:
This foundation does what it says and stayed put on my face ALL DAY! It lasted all day at work, even when I got caught outside in a rain shower, and then stayed put when I went out at night. I only needed to put a little bit of powder in the evening to freshen up (I use Stila Illuminating powder) but could have definitely gotten away without a powder touch up.
I have a very oily t-zone and dry cheeks, but this foundation evened me out and surprise, surprise, didn't make me oily throughout the day! I couldn't believe it!
It doesn't oxidise and make me look orange at all; the colour still looks fresh throughout the day. I have been using it for a few months now and now breakouts like with Studio Fix Fluid!
A little lasts a long way. It's definitely better to start with a small amount and build up if required.
CONS
Very limited colour range. Also, the colours aren't the same as SFF. I am usually NC43/44 (and I find NC42 in SFF really, really light for me) but NC42 in Pro Longwear foundation matched me perfectly. Very happy about that, as the next colour, NC45, was way too orange.
You do have to work quickly with this stuff, and it takes a bit of time to blend it in.
Overall it's a fantastic foundation, by far the best in the MAC range in my opinion! Great to have a foundation that doesn't make me oily or break me out, and really does last all day on my face without needing a blot or powder touch up. Love it!

I'm a long time user of MAC's studio fix fluid and was very excited for this to come out since I have very oily skin and am always looking for the next best foundation that will last on my skin. however, It has a matte almost tacky finish and although it's marketed as prolong wear, for some reason it doesn't last as long asSFF. The biggest issue I have with this foundation is that the longer I wear it, the blotchier I get, which doesn't happen with SFF. It also has a lower SPF and is a little pricier. I've tried this foundation twice in 2 diff shades (SFF can break me out depending on the shade...), both times, I was left disappointed. The coverage however is med-full like SFF. If you have normal skin, this would be a good full coverage foundation for nights out. Also, this line runs a little darker than SFF. I do like that this stuff comes with a pump that locks (like their fix +) which is probably why it costs more than the SFF which doesn't.

ive wanted to try this out for ages, as i am a mac addict, i got it in nc15 as im quite pale it matched good. its a medium coverage i do put on extra to bits on my face where i need more before i use studio finish. the main reason i wanted it is for the long lastingness i kept reading about. its been very hot here in london and im very oily so i wanted to see how it put up with it. it stayed put on my face the color, i do still get oily on forehead and nose but the colour stays put all day and doesn't fade!! so a winner for me ! i use prep n prime powder its good but i wanna try the blot powder. overall worth money if your someone who needs coverage that lasts all day!

i am nc 25 in winter, nc 30 in summer
i have used this foundation for 2 years, and keep repurchasing.
although it is excellent for oil control, and truly lives up to its 16 hour wear claim, i cant find a colour im comfortable with. i have nc20, nc25 and nc30. the tones are different to the other foundations that mac have, less yellow and more peachy. because of this, sometimes i look grey, no matter which shade i'm using.
the reason i keep repurchasing is the excellent oil control, and it doesn't break my acne prone hyper sensitive skin out. i have tried zillions of foundations, drug store and high end, and the only ones that havent broken me out are estee lauder double wear (no good colours for me), mac studio fix foundation powder (cakes after a short while), and this one.
i apply with my fingers- as i have huge pores this is best for me, i can really work it into my skin until it looks like i dont have makeup on. i do set this lightly with a powder, but if you let it set itself for 10ish mins, it dries down to a lovely natural finish, and the colour settles.
it doesnt oxidize.
i would say this is medium coverage, i still conceal my acne scars and pigmentation afterwards.
it looks best after an hour or two of wear, really natural. i still do get oil breakthrough, but its not greasy, more dewy, which i like.
i remove using a basic thick moisturiser and facewipes, then a gentle facewash. not a foundation you can just wash away with soap and water!
a nice foundation. if the colours were a bit better, i would love it.

I love MAC products - my make up bag is full of them. I work in tv studios and on stage, and this foundation is the best I have eve used. It gives great coverage, and covers any redness perfectly (with the help of the MAC studio finish concealer.) I still use face and body foundation when I'm not working, but have to say, whenever I've received compliments about my skin, it's always when I happen to be wearing this longwear foundation. I find that it lasts right til the end of my shift/end of the night and looks fresh. Lasts quite a while as well. Would definitely purchase again :)

So I went to mac cosmetics store, as I thought I wanted to buy the studio sculpt foundation after reading reviews. I had them put the studio sculpt(I think it's called) on the one side, but the make up artist insisted that I use the prolongwear, so she put the pro longwear on the other side. The color was NW20, which was perfect for me, my freckles still came thru a tiny bit though. When the 2 foundations were first put on we all liked the studio sculpt because it had more of a glow to it, and the pro longwear was dryer on my skin. However, 5 hours later the pro longwear didn't look or feel dry, and the coverage was still good, and the studio scupt side of my face looked like it was more droopy and tired. Than (at that point it was after midnight) I went to bed too tired to take the foundation off, and in the morning around 9 it still looked amazing. The only thing was that I had some dry patches around my chin, but it's possible that I needed to exfoliate. I will definitely be back to buy the full product.

Update: 8/29/12-
went from a 5 to a 3 :(
I stopped wearing makeup for a few months and just recently put this on to go see my family. My routine hasn't changed at all and after about five hours with this on my face was burning and the makeup was practically flaking off my face (I don't see how as I have oily skin). Anyway the point is that once I took the product off my forehead was covered in small red bumps and my whole face was swollen and irritated because of the product :(
I still think this is an amazing foundation and people should give it a try (especially if you have oily skin!!!!) but it's definitely not for me after that experience. I had about 80% of it left but I'm acne prone and super sensitive so I gave it to my mom who has normal skin and so far it's been working great for her.
I will say that when I needed it the most it worked great (in 100+ degree weather in a bakery-cafe while cashiering in front of a super hot oven) but once I stopped using it my skin changed I guess and then we weren't friends anymore, sorry pro-longwear.

This is my foundation! The only thing that is frustrating is that the mac store always seems to be sold out of it. I usually stock up when they do have it in. This is a great foundation because it really does last all day and it isn't thick and cakey. I personally don't have the time to keep re applying my makeup all day so this foundation is a great solution for me. It also has spf so I find that I don't need any additional sunscreen for my face.

I am not a MAC enthusiast and Pro Longwear (NC 20) is my first MAC foundation... I have been using it for about 4 months, and I think now it's safe to say that I quite like it for some reasons.
Firstly, it really does what it says.
It lasts quite a few hours longer than every other foundation that I've tried so far. For me that's quite important, because my skin is so oily that usually only 3-4 hours after applying any other foundation the meltdown begins.
This one does stay put, even on hot and humid summer days.
I do have to blot a few times throughout the day, but since it does not provide oil control that's ok by me.. the MAC blot powder works well with this btw!
And I like the smooth finish it gives!
Also, it didn't break me out at all.
But obviously you can't have everything, there are a few things that I don't really like about this foundation:
it sits quite heavy on the skin, and that's a feeling I don't like so much.
And I find it quite annoying that it's quite hard to completely cleanse the skin and even harder to clean the applying tools.
So I only wear it when I have the feeling that I really need it, which would be 2 to 3 times a week.
The lasting power is actually a bit frightening -- once I didn't take it off before bed.. on the next day a fair amount was still on my face, and it didn't even look too bad!
I actually don't really want to know which ingredients make such wonders possible ;-)

I was really looking forward to trying this, as I'd heard nothing but amazing things about MAC foundation. I ought to have known it was too good to be true. While I was lucky enough to have my skintone matched perfectly by the lovely lady at the MAC counter, it was only after the first appliction that I noticed that lines began appearing below my eyes and on my forehead that I had never noticed before! (And I am a very healthy 21 year old) When I look in the mirror I am disgusted by how wrinkly I look. But to make things even worse, it has actually brought BACK the acne on my chin, which left me with the scars I wanted to hide in the first place. The irony!
I might add, that I was not applying much foundation to my skin, but using a small amount and applying thinly. I also applied using a brush, which I clean regularly. I haven't been troubled by acne for at least 2 years now, and can only assume it's this foundation as I have changed nothing else.
So now I look like a strangely old woman with the acne of a 14 year old boy. Hot.

This is an "almost" HG foundation. It blends well with a brush, you only need one pump for your entire face, I love the pump, it doesn't oxidize (like studiofix), it lasts a long time (I work 12-16hr shifts), it doesn't make me oily, I don't need powder to set it, and when I wear it people tell me they can't tell I'm wearing makeup. It feels very light on my skin. I get extremely red and it covers that very well but my freckles show through naturally still.
However, it clings to dry patches around my mouth and if I look in the mirror I don't think it looks natural close up. But people don't usually stare at your face from 6 inches away. I felt like it was breaking me out at one point. But all MAC's foundations and powders have done that to me; I get itchy and little breakouts. However, I did read somewhere that you have to be really thorough in cleaning your face with MAC foundations because they are meant for professionals and are heavier than the typical. I tend to just use my face wash and not a makeup remover. Since I started using a clarisonic brush to clean my face, I haven't felt as if mac powders or foundations were breaking me out and the itching is much better.
Anyway, if I can figure out a way to get the dry patches under control this is an amazing , light, and natural foundation.
Edit 7/25/12: solution for dry patches, use a different foundation on the sides of my mouth and chin. I've been using Maybelline liquid dream moose. It's too dewy for me during the summer, but great for the dry patches. It blend surprisingly well into the pro longwear on the rest of my face. Also I like this foundation best and blends well with the Maybelline one if I use the sonia kashuk flat top blending brush. I tried it with the Sigma F82 and I didn't like it as much.

This is my second favourite foundation at the moment but its the i have re-bought the most. Its full coverage and gives a really nice finish. The packaging is great and dispenses the product in small amounts to reduce wastage. Im an nw 20 and even when i put fake tan on this foundation seems to blend really well and not leave me looking too pale. Only reason for not giving 5 lippies is because it is quite drying on my skin but all in all the pros definitely outweigh the cons and I just keep buying it!

This was my first MAC foundation and I was very disappointed. I expected it to be amazing like everyone said it was but it wasn't. I have oily skin and the foundation dried it out and made it flaky for some reason, even if I used a moisturizer! I don't think I will buy this again considering I returned it to get my $30 back. The good things about this foundation are the color NC25 matched me perfectly and I love the packaging

i bought this foundation last summer, as i needed a foundation to cover up m spots, whilst controlling my oil on my face, and during the summer everything multiplies by 10.
so i bought this foundation, and it really is what it says! it stayed on my face all day and did a good job of covering all my spots (during summer my skin is so bad.)
the price is inexpensive £20 for a foundation that is as it says it is is total worth it!
so girls and boys, if you have acne prone skin or oily skin, then i definitely recommend this!
however i am on the look out for a new foundation as i am getting bored of mac. Haha.
i am still in search of my HG but still this foundation is excellent and well worth every penny!

I absolutely love this foundation. I have very oily skin that never manages to hold a foundation throughout a long day, but this one definitely succeeds in doing just that. I use a dense flat brush to apply, and the foundation has a medium-buildable coverage. It barely starts fading after 10 hours of wear! The only problem is that it dries quickly and doesn't give me the full, flawless, smooth coverage I'm looking for. Best foundation I've found yet, though!

So to be completely honest this is the first MAC foundation that I have ever bought and I am in LOVE with it! I have very oily skin in the summer and I live deep in the south Georgia humidity. So each foundation U have tried is automatically put to the test! I have tried so many foundations to keep my skin at bay and I can't say that many can stand up to this one.
I was really afraid that this product would look too mask like or break me out, but guess what? Neither is true! I apply this with a stippling brush and have to be careful with the moisturizer I'm using or it winter last as long and I will look like there's wet paint on my face. So, all in all when used correctly this product is flawless with more If a natural finish on oily skin and a matte on dry-normal.

This was my first ever MAC purchase and I was so disappointed! I wear shade NC15, the lightest possible, and it was still too dark. I found it really thick and difficult to blend and I'm sure it ended up breaking me out. I liked the level of coverage but it did tend to look too cakey. :( I've worn this about 5 times and haven't touched it since. On a more positive note I have loved all the other MAC products I have tried! :)

It looks like a mask.
Unlike Studio Fix Powder + Foundation, Pro Longwear doesn't sit on your fine line and make you look older. However, it looks like a mask. Not exactly a nice look.
It does last forever from morning to night. It gives you medium coverage. You must use concealer for darker area, if you try to use the foundation to cover something, you will end up looking like a crazy woman wearing a kabuki mask.
After 20 minutes of applying makeup, it starts to set and the skin looks creamy and nice until you see your neck, you see the huge difference in texture. You will be trying to wipe off some makeup to make it less like a mask.
It's hard to apply evenly. The liquid doesn't spread well. It takes a lot of time and effort to make it even. Not fun.
