I used the whole Obagi system under the supervision of a doctor for over six months about five or six years ago. I know several people who have used it with amazing results, unfortunately I wasn't one of them. My skin looked overall more even, the tone and color was good, but it was so oily on Obagi, and my pores looked worse than usual. There are so many products being layered in the system, and they're kind of heavy - they just sat on my skin. There are aspects to the system that I love - like the exfoliation, Retin A, and hydroquinone, which I think is ok to use if needed, but I need all that in lighter products. Interestingly, my sister used it a couple of years ago and had the same problem as me with the whole system, she just uses a couple of the products now. Please don't not try Obagi based on my review - it really can be excellent - just know if it doesn't work for you you're not the only one!

I've been on the Obagi Nu Derm System for over 6 months now. I had freckles and age spots from sun damage. About 1 month into using the system I began peeling around nose, and chin area..very red and irritated, I purchased 'Action' an Obagi product to help calm the skin in the event you have this 'normal' reaction. Once my skin got used to the product I do not have the red irritated skin anymore. I do however still have peeling occasionally, but, that is normal. I just use 'Action' and it takes care of it.
I am beginning to get complements on my skin now (which happenes during the last stage of the system). I can be out in public and someone will say, 'your makeup looks so good !'. Well, for makeup to look good, it must start with 'good skin' Thanks to Obagi, I now have a good canvas to put make up on. Sometimes I don't even use makeup with the exception of eye and lip. Also, now that my skin is smoother, no age spots or freckles and smaller pores...I do not need as much foundation. And I also found that Mineral make up looks better than the very expensive liquid and cream foundations I used in the past.
I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone that is serious about achieving GREAT skin! I'm caucasion, olive skin tone and normal skin, not oily not dry.
I would also recommend a professional microdermabrasion every 6 weeks, I began doing it about 3 months into using the Obagi system.
I have spent Loads of money on the most expensive Lancome, Clarins, Elizabeth Arden skin care products but they are not pharmacutical strength and do not penetrate the skin like Obagi does. I am well pleased with the product. Everyone guesses my age 10 to 15 years younger than I actually am. So in conclusion...I'm sold on the product and will continue to use it from now on.
Hope you will give it a try.
;)

I found this product extremely overrated! I went on the NuDerm system for 2 months. It made my skin red constantly and peeling. yes, I know that is normal. But for 2 months straight? Beet red? No, that type of inflammation cannot be good for the skin and ageing! On the plus side, it DID make my skin a little more "bright" and got rid of my sunspot (singular). But it definately was not worth all the pain and suffering.
Please beware of the internet spammers that Obagi hires to post positive reviews about Obagi Nu Derm everywhere. I post on another online forum and I see it all the time.
I find this NuDerm was way too hyped up. If you have serious melasma then consider it. If you just have a few brown spots or a hut of hyperpigmentation, go on Tri-Luma and keep a social life!

This product is worth every dime!!!! I'm asian and didn't really have bad skin to begin with but I did started noticing my skin looking a little dead and dry. Plus my complexion was very uneven and I heard that the NU DERM system would help even it out a bit. I was skeptical and scared because I really didn't have major skin issues so I was afraid it would mess up my semi-okay skin. The first four weeks are horrible. My skin was red as a tomato for a good two weeks and then it calmed down a little bit but still had a reddish tone to it for the next two. Six weeks into the product I started noticing my skin getting a little less red and my complexion start to even out a bit. By week eight, I was getting so many compliments on my skin and I started to notice that glow every body was talking about. This by far is the best skin product!!!! The process isn't a walk in the part. It is very difficult and at times a little painful but the end result are well worth it so stick to the regiment if you decide to take the jump.

I am on week 4 going on week 5 on this for the Oily/Combo Nu Derm...so far I do all the steps accordingly and I have been doing 4 and 5 (tretoin 0.1) every night...I am still peeling and my derm gave me a complimentary microdermabrasion with the kit and my skin looks really good. All of the purging and peeling isn't so bad..I try not to wear makeup so much, but when I do, I wear Carmindy by SH (see my reviews.) The only thing I do when there is an occasion where I don't want to peel is skip the Tretoin the night before. Other than that, everything has been exfoliating and evening out beautifully. My pits and dark acne scars are somewhat erased, and if you stick with it you will see the results. I am asian with a Medium/Dark (NC 35/Chanel 4.5/Cover FX E80) complexion and the hydroquinone has worked wonders with my color. The travel kit only lasts around 2 months though, and I had to repurchase the toner. Everything is a little expensive, but it is worth it.
***Update: I have brought this down a few lippies for the price, sorry I found Natural Advantage, and seems to be doing the same job, but without the peeling or redness. Plus, it's a lot less expensive.

I use steps 1-6 and use the eye night cream and the retinol A. I was shocked at what I paid($500). However I really needed something good as I am in my 40's. I bought it at the doctors office so I'm sure that's part of why it cost alot. It was worth every penny!! Amazing results after 3 months of use. The bottles last a very long time.
Morning--I wash-step 1 then just splash some toner on which is step 2. I mix a small amount of steps 3 and 4 and apply. I then finish with step 6 and apply skincueticals moisturizer with sunscreen. Then apply my makeup.
My evening is doing steps 1-3 ( then I wait 30 minutes-before doing the final step-otherwise I peel too much). I then mix the step 5 (blender) with the retinol A cream together and applying, I use the night eye cream and Lansinoh nipple cream for my chapped lips
(sounds funny but it is cheap and the best!(doctor recommended)).
Retinol A can be very drying and peel alot. I use Aveeno diaper rash ( sounds nasty but it isn't- no smell, cheap and it works!) on my face because it has zinc (healing) and also has fantastic moisturizing quality's. I often times leave it on overnight like a mask. I read that on MA (thank-you!).
I only use pea sized amounts of all the different (expensive) creams- it is not meant to use large amounts and when they are mixed together they spread really evenly on the face. it is also quicker.
THIS IS THE BEST PRODUCT!! MONEY WELL SPENT!!

I've been on Obagi for only two weeks so far so will update as I go along. I'm using the clear and exfoderm in the am and blender and 0.025% tretinoin (generic; not Obagi) in the pm.
1st week: Everything good. No peeling until the fourth day and this was minor. Saw slight fading of new sun damage (we just got back from a cruise) so this is promising.
2nd week: Right around two week mark, I started noticing major peeling around my chin and mouth (sides of mouth) only. Could be due to the fact that I recently added exfoderm two days ago. I was afraid to use the blender and tretinoin at night because my skin around the mouth area looked so red and sore and I had major peeling skin patches. Went ahead and used it and this morning, the skin still looks red but I have minor peeling. Seems I must have lost a lot of the peeling skin overnight. I don't use in the eye area since product is supposed to migrate there and also do not use on my neck. Will update as I go along.
Week 5: Beautiful skin! No peeling at all. I'm so glad that's done with. My skin looks more even toned and younger. I only have one small area where the hyperpigmentation remains (and doctor said that this was deeper hyperpigmentation so would take longer to treat) but even this spot is so much lighter and probably only really visible to me. I am in love with the Obagi system. I have not used any moisturizer at all since starting this treatment. Yes, in the beginning my skin was very dry but now I find that I don't need moisturizer. Can't wait to see what I look like at the end of 18 weeks!

I started off using the complete system along with retin a but now I just use clear, exfoderm, blender and a sunscreen. I have melasma so this stuff has been an absolute lifesaver. Ive tried everything from microdermabrasion, laser therapy, chemical masks to chinese creams full of lead and this stuff is the only thing that keeps my dark spots away and it also makes my skin so moist and hydrated

I have used the complete set of Obagi for almost 2 years now. I was turned on to using this by my Dr after having IPL treatments for Rosacea. At first it did everything it said it would do (make you red and peal for about 2 weeks) It does make your skin look great. It gets to be a pain to do all of the steps. Cleared up acne and most scaring except of the deep scars. It is very expensive, but does last about 6 months.
I have Rosacea, very sensitive skin, fair complected, freckled, I have taken acutane 4 years ago.
I wonder if I have used this product for to long. I have started breaking out bad, with cyctic acne which I have not done for a while. And I feel it has been causing the rosacea to flair up.
I am not sure if I will repurchase.

I am also looking for something to improve the look of my skin and my acne scars I have from my early 20's. I was interested in purchasing Obagi from my physician until I found out that Obagi contains *Hydroquinone. I am glad you all have gotten great results from Obagi. I want that beautiful skin too, but be careful. *Hydroquinone is not safe and the FDA has tried to ban it because it "may act as a cancer-causing chemical", and "high levels of mercury in individuals that use". There are other alternatives to having beautiful skin with natural and safe ingredients. I'm still looking.

At the age of 33, and after a consulation with my derm, I tried the entire Obagi skincare system to get rid of brown spots, fine lines, and improve the overall quality of my skin. I was warned that this would be an "agressive" treatment. My derm stated that it is the most powerful at home treatment you can buy and although it is a bit pricey, it is far less expensive than most office treatments. I must admit I wasn't prepared for the redness and peeling, I really did walk around with a pink and painful face for about 10 days. During that time, my face was so sensitive that it hurt to be in sunlight for more than 2 minutes. The pain was worth it, I am now 41 years old and I can honestly say that my skin still looks better than it did at 33. My husband even thinks that I actually look younger now. Since then, I've had to use sunscreen faithfully of course and continue with skin treatments of some kind but the Obagi system was the foundation of it all that literally helped me shed my damaged skin for a fresh new face. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is starting to notice signs of aging, specifically from sun damage. Just be prepared for some discomfort, sensitive skin, and redness and protect your skin. Also, please consult your dermatologist.

I used the Decolletage system until the products ran out and saw no difference in my chest skin except that the cream gave me little bumps. Luckily the bumps went away afterwards. I do not have much freckling on my chest, though so it may work for lightening someone's intense freckling. I was trying to reduce the appearance of fine lines.

I work for a plastic surgeon and after seeing many women have great results with the Obagi system, I decided to give it a try. I have been using it for 2 1/2 weeks and I have become very dry and my chin is red, dry and somewhat tender. I am dedicated to seeing this system through and realize the side effects can be daunting but from all my observations, feel it is worth it. I would also say to hold off on using the Trentinoin nightly and use it every other night instead. My doctor says not to use any moisturizer with it and to do so will interfere with the shedding of your skin's layers. If you are extremely sensitve and dry, only use the "action" moisturizer made by Obagi.

I am a medical esthetician in a facial plastic surgeons office and we can't keep Obagi Medical products in stock. It works! It is the only line we carry because when people come to us for skincare we want to give them products that deliver real results. I have used the CRX system and the Condition and Enhance system, both with great results. Yes, there is peeling, erythema and dryness that can result but that is because you are making a real change at the cellular level and that is manifested by changes in the epidermis. Also, it is expensive...who cares! I would spend anything on a product that works and lives up to the big promises it makes. If you want to call it a gamble, paying the big price tag and going through the irritation, so be it. Take a chance, the results are worth it!
About Retin A, there is NO stronger topical for collagen stimulation available, not matter what you are told. Ask a doctor. Every woman who cares about her skins health and appearance should be using Retin A and never stop.

Ok, for years I have been searching for a product to clear my skin. My skin isnt too bad, some red acne scars and melasma on my forehead and cheeks and some freckles on my nose. I have mild acne, and tend to get cystic acne occassionally. My regimens have included two rounds of Accutane, Rosula, Tri-Luma, tetricycline, Differin, and clearisil. These products worked to some degree but did not clear up my face as I wanted. I began reading on makeup alley about skin care products and read just about every review on Obagi. I was hesitant at first because my skin tends to get red and burnt feeling with harsh products. My doctor gave me a prescription of RetinA Micro and I began to use that every other night for about two weeks. It began to rid my face of the acne scars, slowly, with some minor flaking. I then purchased Obagi Clear, Blender, and Exfoderm on Ebay. I put the Clear and Exfoderm on in the morning underneath my makeup and then at night put the clear, blender (mixed with retina) on. I did three nights on one night off only becasue my face tolerated it. On the fourth day I had some minor-major peeling around my chin and eyes. I have been using the product for three weeks and after the second week I saw a dramatic difference, no kidding. My face was clear, my melasma was gone, and very little acne. I was amazed that a product actually did what it said it would do. I am now on my fourth week and my skin looks better than it has in years, honestly. I wanted to share this because, as like many others, I was reluctant to purchase such an expensive product. I am glad I did. I did not have any purging, burning or extreme peeling. I do use a buff-puff on the fourth day gently, to remove the dead skin. I was able to sooth the flaking with moisturizer, and best of all these products went well under my makeup. They did not clog my pores, make my foundation greasy or cakey. Sometimes my face was a little shiny, but nothing more than what a normal moisturizer would do. If you are thinking about this product, I highly recommend it. Use it slowly until your face adjusts, if you notice flaking hold off a day, all you need is a pea-sized amount of each. You can mix clear and exfoderm in the am and then put the clear on at night, let it absorb, then mix a pea sized amount of bender with a pea sized amount of retina and put it on over the clear at night. This is the best!

This skincare line will cost you an arm and a leg... But it is totally worth every dollar. I wouldn't say I had awful skin, but it was dull and I had freckles and always get zits and pimples... Not a lot, but always one or two would be on my face. Anyway, I used this and my pimples no longer show up, my freckles fell off... my skin looks GREAT! I don't use foundation anymore either!
Women who are just starting to use this: hang in there! The first two months are hell. I questioned myself over and over again asking why I even really needed the system... But the results are spectacular. If you have the money to keep it up, GO FOR IT!

I am the type of person who is in the know of the latest possibilities out there when it comes to facial rejuvenation.
I have used RetinA for 10 years and a good full UVA protective sunscreen since I was born.
I have tried every product out there that claims to slow down aging in all price-ranges.
Never in my life I got close to anything like the Obagi skin care system!
Hydroquinone and Tretinoin together really makes wonders!
I have to tell you, guys I always had a very nice skin without any discoloration, spots or lines. But Obagi did make it even better!!!
My skin looks and feels like a teenager's. It is glowing, fully hydrated and just looks something that is retouched in Photoshop.
Young men stop me and asking me for a date (I am almost 40)!
I can fully recommend the whole system under the supervision of a physician.
Remember: to have full effect one should use Tretinoin and Hydroquinone together as prescribed by your dermatologist.
As others have already pointed out the side effects, I would only say don't give up, hang in there, it is worth it!!! And don't waste your money on anything else (except a decent sunscreen, like LRP, Bioderma EU variants!)
