I had high hopes for this mascara boost combo, but I was really let down. I used this with the serum for a while (which I think is amazing) and I found that this mascara shouldn't even be put into a system with the serum. It doesn't go on well, it's flakey, it's just gross.

This mascara was just okay. I didn't see a dramatic improvement in the amount of eyelashes I have. I also think the mascara flaked and faded after like 3 hours. It gave okay length and volume, but it still doesn't compare to l'oreal beauty tubes.

I got this product for free as a BzzAgent, so of course I really wanted to like it. I even took "before" pictures so that I could compare the results. The only problem is that my eyes are somewhat sensitive, and they would always feel irritated after waking up the next day. I used it for about a week before deciding it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't discourage others from trying it, and I'm glad it worked for many of you. The price seems reasonable if it works.

I loved the lash boosting serum part of this (sold separately or in a "system), but the mascara part did nothing for me. I don't understand why you're supposed to use the serum if the base layer is supposed to contain serum already. Also, this actually straightened out my lashes after I'd already curled then and doesn't lenghten well at all. I got both this and the lash serum for free to try from bzz agent, but I would not purchase this again even though I will get more of the serum.

This is perfectly fine mascara - nothing special but certainly not bad. The primer does work well - for me, anyway - and it's nice to have the mascara and the primer all together. I would buy again if I had to but I am on an endless search for the perfect mascara so I never buy any mascara twice. This one is OK - but I am still hunting!

I really tried to like this mascara/serum combo, but found that it did absolutely nothing for me. I consider it a waste of money.
I will go back to using Maybelline Define-A-Lash, which works wonderfully at lengthening and thickening my lashes.

I received this product free to try from Bzz Agent, a word of mouth marketing company. I had high hopes since I've tried many mascaras, and I always come back to L'Oreal.
First you apply the white primer, then the black topcoat. Both applicator wands are rather long, so be careful not to poke your eye while coating the lashes near the outside corner of your eyes. I had to comb through my lashes after every coat, and made sure that each coat did not dry before applying the next. If you like 2-part mascaras, then this may work better for you, but I found it quite time consuming, due in part to all the combing.
I've had a lot of problems with clumping - can't apply 2 coats of the black part. However, after applying only one coat of the black mascara, it is sometimes not enough to cover the primer, so you can see the white peeking through. If I rub my eye during the day, or even when I comb through my lashes, the mascara flakes off easily, leaving black flecks on my cheeks.
I was really determined to make this work, so I tried applying the topcoat over the primer once it had dried, but that was even worse – I had more clumping, and some lashes were stuck together and resembled spider legs. I have used the mascara for 6 weeks, and the topcoat is either slightly dried out in the tube, or almost used up. I added a little water to the topcoat wand, and found that the mascara went on much better once it had thinned out due to the water. However, my rating is based on the mascara as-is - no water added.

This is a review for the Boosting primer & mascara duo. First and foremost, I LOVE the serum that L'oreal made. I did a separate review on that one, btw. There's a few things I like and dislike about this certain product. My dislike is the white primer that came with it. I have been trying to work with it for 3 weeks now and it does nothing, but leave my lashes clumpy and flaky after putting on the mascara. It also leaves some white spots where I try to fill them w/ the mascara, but end up with bad clumps. I've even tried to wipe the wand before putting it on, but no luck. Maybe it's just me, but I'm going to stick to the regular clear serum. Okay, now for the "like" part..the mascara...Oh, that mascara!! You're going to think I'm a weirdo, but I've never in my life bought a L'oreal mascara. Man, oh, man, am I in love with this thing. I think it's the brush or formula, maybe both that makes my lashes look full. It holds curls really well. I would like to just buy the mascara alone, but I'm not sure which tube it comes in. It doesn't specify the name of it. They have so many of them I'm not sure which one to get. If anyone knows which formula and tube it comes in PLEASE email me. I really want to get it. The white primer is horrible and I would hate to waste my money on a duo for just one product.

I received this item in the mail during my Bzzagent campaign. Before using this product my lashes were already full, thick, and overall great. After using this product, I immediately experienced lash fallout and after about a week of using the serum, my eyes started to get this burning, itchy feeling.
The mascara primer is hit or miss it seems. From my own experience it was a major miss. I tried putting the mascara on right away, I tried letting it dry, I tried putting on a lot, and I tried putting on a very tiny amount. Each time, It left me with really bad clumps and it still wouldn't cover all the primer with mascara when I used a very small amount.
So after the serum and primer were both a major fail for me, I tried using just the macara. It made my many lashes look like I had about 5 lashes total. It still clumped so so bad. I even tried brushing them apart but they ended up flaking all over the place.
And don't even get me started on price...what were they thinking? Glad mine was free cause it went into the trash.
Obviously, YMMV, but ime and from a lot of posts on the campaign forums, few saw improvements from the serum(the ones that were able to continue using it, some experienced the burning as well) and the mascara/primer...well, there is much much better out there then this.

I have been using this lash "system" for about three weeks now - applying the serum every night before going to bed. I have noticed a significant difference in the number of and length of my eyelashes. Just prior to this I was experimenting with false eyelashes and found out the hard way that I am allergic to lash glue. Quite a few of my eyelashes came out as I worked my way back from some badly swollen eyes so I thought it might be time to try something that might actually be beneficial for my lashes, hence the purchase of this product. Also, nothing will make you more willing to use a lash product every day than having NO lashes. Anyway - I do recommend this product - especially the serum. The mascara duo (mascara & primer) are better than I expected although I do add a layer of MUFE mascara as my final coat. Try this if your lashes need some help - for the price, its surprisingly effective!

Small amount of mascara but it really lengthens your lashes. I said in the review of the mascara + serum system, I go for length in my lashes. I couldn't imagine a day wearing mascara without this! It totally gets the job done and more. My eyelashes reach to my eyebrows.
I used to love the Double Extend Mascara in the red and white tube as well, without the lash boosting serum. It's such a good mascara for such a good price you can just run out and get it anytime. Don't pass this one up!

Even without the lash boosting serum, this partner system is a pretty good buy.
First of all, the mascara is wonderful. It really does lengthen your lashes! I don't know where I would be without it. Of course it doesn't last that long, but it's cheap enough to go out and buy it every time you are out. I really go for length with my mascara, and without it, my eyelashes are short.
Lash serum is pretty good too. When I remember to put it on every night, my lashes do look better when I put it on the night before. It's cheap and so far has done what it has promised.
Pro's: pretty good price, does what it says, really does make your lashes look a mile long
Con's: Not a lot of mascara for the big tube
Overall: What a great buy, even with just the mascara. Go for it!

Being a BzzAgent, I received this set right before christmas. I was quite excited to get it and try it out.
Before I review this - my lashes are pretty thick to begin with. But I happen to get a lot of lash fallout when I wear mascara.
Being pretty religious with application of the serum alone at night, I noticed less lash fallout, along with faster regeneration of lashes. I'm not sure if there has been an increase of density of lashes, but the less lash fallout has made me happy.
As for the mascara - I followed the rules directly. So, it's serum, part 1 of the two step, then the mascara.
The serum applies easily. The Part 1 is also easy to apply, and separates the lashes. The mascara is the troubling factor. When I apply it, it feels like it pulls a little because of the other products that are already on the lashes. Also, one has to remember to coat the lashes to make sure none of the white serum shows.
For me, the end result is lengthened lashes, but personally, they look a little stringy for my taste. I happen to love love love Max Factor's 2000 calorie Extreme Volume mascara, but it's been discontinued.
I think this set is perfect for those who are lacking in the lash area, and they'll definitely get a boost from this set. I personally love the serum more than the mascara, so I would personally just buy the serum, and ditch the mascara.

I received these products for free as a BzzAgent.
I already reviewed the lash serum separately so to summarize, it's an okay product. It works but you have to use it consistantly to see results.
But I'm here to talk about the masara. It's amazing. This is the best mascara I've ever used in my whole life. It's not waterproof so it washes off easily with my regular cleanser, but it does not smudge during the day or run at all. That's a miracle right there since I have oily skin and my previous experience with mascaras have been very bad. It was always real smudgy or waterproof but hell to take off. Not L'Oreal Double Extend Lash Boosting Mascara.
I curl my lashes first and then apply the primer. I think it has fibres in it because it makes my lashes sooooo long and thick. Before it dries, I apply the black mascara which covers up the white primer, makes my lashes darker, thicker and longer. It gives a spidery effect in a good way. If you're going for a natural look, then this is not for you.
I must warn you though, that in order to get the best out of the mascara, you have to apply it immediately after the primer. The first couple of times I wore this, I put the primer on both eyes first and then took too long to put the mascara on when the primer was already kinda dry. I found that the mascara didn't go on that well and it didn't always cover up the white primer. The mascara isn't a wet formula to begin with so I guess it needed something wet (primer) to grab on to to work. So now, I put primer on one eye first, then mascara it, then do the other eye. Perfect.
I love it so much; it makes me feel so girly since my short lashes have doubled in length. I will definitely purchase this when mine runs out (or expires).

I received the system free to try from Bzz Agent. I was excited to try the product, because I am hooked on L'Oreal mascaras. After trying Revlon and Cover Girl a few times, I keep returning to L'Oreal. I also wanted to check out the serum because there is really no reason that the serum should work - it does not contain active ingredients which will lengthen the eyelash growth cycle. I couldn't tell a difference looking at my before and after 5 week pics.
The mascara was slightly below average. It provides great length, but you can't layer it for added volume because that will result in clumping and flaking during the day. Nearly every day the mascara on my bottom lashes would flake off throughout the day. Maybe the mascara made my eyes itchier than usual so I would rub them - not sure. The white primer coat was difficult to cover up with the black topcoat - I often had white patches showing through. I think that L'Oreal Telescopic or Telescopic Explosion with a coat of Voluminous Full Definition on top will give you a better combination of extreme length and nice volume without clumps.

I received both the mascara and serum for being a Buzz Agent, and I'm so glad because I don't think I would have tried them otherwise.
Mascara: I give the mascara a 5 for sure. I usually use lash blast, because 'regular' bristle brushes usually don't give me enough separation. But, I was really, really, impressed with the length this mascara gave me. It did not clump up at all, and didn't flake off during the day. I usually don't wear mascara because it is such a pain to get it all off. I was so impressed with this product because it came right off in the shower (I was too tired to take it off the night before). Alllll of it.
Cons: it doesn't give volume, and I really need some volume in my lashes. This is also a very wet formula, and all the moisture makes my lashes loose curl (they are naturally strait -a huge pain in the butt!).
Serum: I give this a 3. I do have to admit that I didn't use it every night, and maybe this is why I didn't see results. The only thing I noticed was softer lashes, which I don't really need (who is going to be feeling my lashes??). I had really high hopes for this product, and was kind of disappointed. But hey, I'll keep using it and maybe I'll get some results. Hopefully I'll have to update this with some good news.

this is the best mascara I've ever used and I've tried them all -- ds, sephora, dept store. They were sold out of my HG Lash Out so I tried this. It actually leaves your lashes soft and flexible but still super-long. If the serum in the base coat makes my lashes grow, that would be an awesome bonus. I'll update in a month. I'm still scared of Latisse because of the warnings about possible permanent pigmentation of the iris. Of course all my friends who use it (and have AMAZING -- I MEAN JAW-DROPPING-- RESULTS btw) have beautiful chocolate brown eyes so they are willing to chance it, but I have blue grey gold cat eyes and I don't want to take the chance. Who knows, I'm sure the research will continue on Latisse so maybe in the future. Anyway, this mascara was great and even the tube is so pretty and sleek and electric blue. And no hinky smell and fumes like Maybelline's Lash Stilleto.

So I've only been using this for a little over a week, and I already notice a difference in the length of my lashes! I use the serum nightly, and the mascara base daily. I personally don't care for the top coat of the mascara, so I just use the primer (which has the serum in it) and my Dior mascara on top. So far I love it! I can't wait to see what my eyeslashes look like after four weeks! I will definately update! (I never review products unless I think they are either fabulous or horrible, and this is fabulous!)
