I still view this as the best tip I've gotten on MUA -- I ADORE Vega, will re-purchase, and hope Chanel never stops making it. I just wanted to add that those who like it should also enjoy Cargo's "Yukon" -- very similar effect, but in a more silvery violet shade of taupe whereas Vega is more mink-toned. Cargo is high quality and gives mucho quantity of product. But Vega is #1.

I too bought this based on all wonderful reviews and I am a sucker for good reviews. I have dark brown eyes and brown hair and this just didn't work for me at all. I think it's just because I also have dark underexe circles and this color just seem to accentuate it. I also found it very hard to blend. I'm glad it's so pretty on everyone else though.

This is a wonderful color! Try it wet for a very special evening look. Very sophisticated.

I know this sounds strange, but I like this color better when I apply it with my finger. That way the sparkles are more noticeable and the color looks more dramatic. I don't like it wet or over a base and I don't reach for it often, but when I do and I apply it right, I notice how sultry it makes by dark eyes look.

This shadow was okay. I can't say I love it. I was expecting fantastic from all the raves. I found it hard to blend and the color was nothing special to me. I'll stick to MAC and shu.

I bought this based on reviews and although it did look pretty on my finger..it didnt look that great on my eyes and for some reason it didnt really work on me. Nice color though and the sparkles made it prettier and the packaging was cute and sleek.

After reading the glowing reviews i went to the Chanel counter to see what all the fuss was about. I have to hand it to MUA girls. Once again i would have passed right over this color for another one. Even when i tried it on my finger i thought this is what everyone is raving about??? After my second trip to the Chanel counter i decided to try it last night. I didn't buy it. I actually put some on a cosmetic sponge and took it home. I put it on this morning and have to admit it looks pretty nice. I have dark brown hair and ggg/mmm complexion and medium brown eyes. One reviewer is right. Don't look at your eyelids look at how it makes your eyes look. I can see using this product pretty frequently. One thing i'm not impressed with though is the wearing power of Chanel. If the color looks nice on brown eyes i bet it looks amazing on green and blue eyes.

I am so glad I gave in and went to my Chanel counter to try this e/s- it's absolute beautiful. I have very green eyes and the shimmery taupe colour is just beautiful. The texture of the shadow is also great, and wears gradually, so you never look like you're coming undone. It's really a great shadow. The price is a little high but it should last a while since you don't need very much to do a really nice smokey eye. The color is especially compatible with the colours in the new Stila confections for eyes compact. This is definately one of my new favorites.

Shadowlights really lives up to its name - a product that delivers intense, smoky shadow yet lightens eyes with its illuminating sparkle. Vega is a particularly beautiful shade; it's a brown-taupe infused with silver shimmer. This isn't your typical brown shadow, though. Just by swiping your finger across the product, you can feel the outstanding silky texture - like packed powdered sugar. It glides onto lids with the greatest of ease and has amazing staying power, all the while providing endless options to smoke up eyes and bring out their color (the effect is especially striking on those with blue or green eyes). If you're in the market for a new eyeshadow, run to the Chanel counter and give this a try.

I really liked this eyeshadow. It gives a really nice smokey look w/out looking way overdone. i use it daily now, instead of my boring old shadow. this shadow is kind of a harmony of brown/grey/pink/mauve/lavender...
It is really hard to explain. in the container, it looks like a like grey but goes on darker. it actually looked really boring when i first saw it and i really hesitated to try it. but if you sweep it on your hand, you can tell that it is more multidimensional than it appears.
the lasting power is okay...not as good as MAC maybe but decent. i want to try another shadow by shu uemura that i hear is nice and similar to the chanel vega one...i will surely review it if i should buy it.
the container is very classic. black and has a built in mirror. i never realised how nice it would be to have a mirror!

Multi-tonal irridescent taupe! I'm not going to go any deeper than that for the color description :op. This is a surpringly versatile color that can be applied as a wash for subtle color or intensely for contour. I really enjoyed the super silky almost creamy texture of this powder shadow. Very nice. I'm just not sure I should have paid $20 for it!

Nice shimmery taupe eyeshadow. Nothing extraordinary though. Not very good staying power either. OK but definitely not worth the price (I got it on ebay but wouldn't buy it full price).

Love This! A very pretty taupey-silver. This is kind of like a powder version of Riviera, except silver based instead of gold. And it has more pigment. I don't think this will look good on darker complexion ladies. Too light, Nova would probably work better. But, for PPP, Vega is perfect!

This e/s is very special. I love the staying power and silky quality of Chanel makeup in general (I have less oily skin so most makeup stays longer). I bought this after reading so many great reviews by MUAers, and I'm glad I followed the crowd on

I love this shadow. The texture is so smooth and it has the perfect amount of shimmer. Applied lightly is nice for a subtle smoky shimmer and can be applied darker for a greta smokey eye. Soo pretty. My favorite thing about it would be the texture though,

I finally bought this--my first ever Chanel eyeshadow. I have to say I'm quite pleased with it. Vega is such a beautiful, shimmery silvery-taupe color that is quite unique, IMHO. It makes my hazel eyes look enormous, and they absolutely sparkle!! I feel so sexy and feminine with this on!! On my PPP, neutral/cool skin, this doesn't turn brown at all (thankfully). Clinique's version can't even compare to this! Vega is clearly a superior eyeshadow: extremely silky, very pigmented, long-lasting, and absolutely radiant color! I didn't know an eyeshadow could melt onto my eyelids like that. The quality of Chanel's eyeshadows is unbelievably high!! $21.50 seems like a lot to pay for an eyeshadow, but you get 0.07 oz of extremely pigmented eyeshadow that should last more than a year. Can't rave enough--I'm so glad I caved in and bought it! One of my HG eyeshadows, and I definitely plan on saving up and buying more makeup from Chanel. **UPDATE 11/13/03--I'm still in love with this shadow! I've been wearing it practically everyday because it looks great with everything! Absolutely beautiful!!**

one thing no one mentioned that i read is that on PPP's it is a dark brown, not taupe!!!!
looks like i have a smokey eye done with only a light layer of this color all over. i would buy it again but not for a great taupe but for a long lasting smoket eye only. this is NOT for everyone and doesnt shimmer all that much and doesnt show as silvery taupe on me, its more brown with a shimmer. beware of allllll their shadowlights. some tons of pigments and some like Fusee have NONE!!

I tried this product on my light brown eyes, it looked okay but didn't bring out my eyes like a silver color would. This is not for me, this eye shadow looked "BORING" on me!
Age: 44-55 Skin: Combination, Fair Hair: Blond Eyes: Green
This is a great product for those of us who who want to accent our eyes -- I have very pale skin, green hazel eyes, strawberry blond hair - and this really makes my eyes stand out - I used it with the chanel eye make up base and a lot of it came off when I took off my make up last night. I did not use it with any other eyeshadow, did use my violet eyeliner with it. This is a buy again product for me!

Well, I must differ with the vast majority here on this one. I ordered it from Gloss.com based on these glowing reviews. I couldn't believe what I saw when I opened the product...a very ordinary looking taupe shimmery shadow. So, I tried it on in hopes of seeing the miraculous darkening and multi-faceted shading raved about here. Nothing. And it does nothing for me. Sent it back.
