Love this polish...I love that it is long lasting and I'm really rough on polish. The color on me is a purplish, cocoa, taupe color. I absolutely love it and have worn it all year long. Not just in the fall. I'll definitely buy this product again!

When you're ready to put away your summer brights and neons, Steel Grey is THE PERFECT FALL SHADE. The quintessential "greige", steel grey is definitely work appropriate but still edgy. It's a subtle color that will get you noticed and garner many compliments. Application was a dream, opacity was achieved with one coat. The flat tapered brush took a little getting used to but produced a streak free look and minimized np spillovers onto the sides of the nailbed. And it's cheap! Recommend highly!

I love love love this nail polish!
It looks grey in the bottle but when you apply it on your nails it looks kind of taupe-ish grey, and in direct sunlight it looks grey-ish purple! I have this on my toes and when I went outside to play with my dogs and I saw that my toes look purple! I love it! And I absolutely LOVE the brush, its very easy to apply and coats the nails evenly and nicely.
I get so many compliments on the color, people don't know if it's grey or taupe or purple. Absolutely lovely color.

I bought Rimmel Steel Grey after being obsessed with finding the perfect taupe nail polish. First I bought AA Mouse, which is nice, but I much prefer this. It's a gorgeous color that's darker than Mouse and the perfect perfect mushroom greige. The formula is fantastic for the price and comparable to brands such as OPI. This is actually a one coater, although sometimes I like to do two. The brush is so easy to apply with and I think it's one of my favorite np brushes. I can't really attest to the lasts 10 days aspect of this nail polish since my nails are in terrible condition and I change my mani a LOT but I love love love this product and would definitely repurchase and am looking to buy other nps from the line.

I recently bought a pair of pale pink suede and leather peeptoe heels to wear to a dear friend's wedding, and needed a nail polish to go with them. i ruled out dark plums and blues as i wanted something a bit more subtle, and many people suggested a taupe or grey. i found rimmel's steel grey at my local target for under $4.00 USD and gave it a try. much to my delight, the polish was wonderfully complex, a medium, slightly cool grey in some lights, and leaning toward a grey-ish lavender in others. i think i've found my fall color. and yes, the polish looked amazing next to my shoes :)

Love this polish! Here's the rundown:
Color: wonderful "griege," not too cool and not too warm, and darker than American Apparel's Mouse, which made me look like a zombie. There's a touch of purple in this in certain lighting. This was my first foray into the world of grieges and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this color on me!!
Texture: a little thick but nothing a few drops of nail polish thinner couldn't help. Otherwise, I achieved a perfectly opaque look in two coats. No bubbling, reasonably dry time when topped with Seche Vite or SH InstaDri. Wears pretty well, too! Minimal tip wear and chipping after 4 days. (I use SH Nail Quencher, 2 coats polish, 1 coat SV)
Price:~$3 at Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target, etc. etc.
Packaging: i LOVE the new bottle! It's a squared off glass bottle, nice and hefty, reminiscent of the SH Salon Perfect nail color bottles. But the cap is what makes it--glossy black and topped with a little silver crown emblem! Super cute. The brush itself is very nice--flat a la OPI's prowide, but with a curved free edge rather than a square one. Think of the shape of a lip brush.
Pros: color, opacity, price, dry time
Cons:a little thick at first
Overall: BELEIVE THE HYPE! Don't waste your $$ on OPI's and $OPIs, etc. just run out and get this :) you will not regret it for a single second.

Dupe for Sally Hansen's Commander-in-Chic but cheaper. Nice wide thick brush. Good with one coat but nicer with two. Greige with purple. Beautiful but already own SH.

This n/p is an interesting color: taupey/ever so purple tinged/grey. I was hoping it'd be a squirrel grey, matte light grey tinge. This color looks disgusting at night or in low light but during the day or in light, it's cute in a pug like way (ugly dog but cute, right? That's what I mean...). The formula is amazingly smooth and leaves a quick drying, high gloss finish. Love the flat, wide rounded brush. The quality is better than Chanel n/p which are exponentially more expensive.
With that said, the color is definitely not for everyone. This color looks best on short nails. Overall, it's a great polish...but Rimmel...please bring back the Milk Chocolate color!

Great color and great brush. Two coats plus a top coat lasted me a couple weeks. Love this nail polish.

oh my! i didn't expect to love this but I do! it's very creamy and opaque, like the reviewer below it reminded me of OPI. It glided on smooth and it only took 2 coats to look opaque. I'm usually a bright nail polish kinda gal, but I do love this so. I may even have to start switching to more neutral polishes after this. I do like the brush alot, it was kinda thick, but flat and a little pointed. It covered the nail very well. You can't beat the price either, I got it for $2.77 after a $1 coupon!!

love this. The colour is very unique and quite wearable. The formula is very smooth and creamy - much like OPI's cream polishes. The brush is huuuuge! The brush is just like OPI but a bit more stiff which I like. The stiffer the brush, the more control you get. I've also observed that this brush is pointed whereas the OPI is very rounded. The pointiness of this brush allows you to get close to your cuticles. The price is around 4. very affordable. Love it, beautiful colour for a cheap price :)

This is the first time I've used Rimmel nail polish, and I'm glad I tried it out. Steel Grey is a beautiful neutral taupe, works well with both bright summery outfits and the darker colors we wear in the fall. The formula and brush made application easy. This product was definitely worth the 3.99 I spent.

Very pretty! I just did my toes with it and it's lovely! I love the wide kind of brush that this has, and the polish was not expensive, but very high quality! Gorgeous taupey-mushroomy color. Great! Need 2 coats as it's rather sheer but 2 makes it opaque.

I got this due to its reputation as a dupe of Metro Chic by Sephora by OPI. I love Metro Chic but I hate the formula (too sheer and chips easily). I must say that Steel Grey delivers in ways Metro Chic could not. The formula is smooth and is wearably opaque in two coats. I am a fan of the wide brush although I realize it's inconvenient for those with smaller nailbeds. If you are a fan of greige or dusty lilac, I really recommend picking this up. I also only got minor tip wear after 6 days (when sandwiching with Orly Bonder).

In bottle and under indoor light, it is a gray color. Under outdoor light, it turns into purple, which I don't like since I was looking for a gray nail polish. It's lighter than You don't know Jacques and definitely has the purple undertone that YDKJ doesn't have. The wide brush makes it easy to cover the nails but it's harder to go in the corners of my nails. However, I still really enjoy it because of the superb staying power. It's cheaper than OPI but with Nailtek base coat and Seche top coat, it stays on for over a week with minimal chipping and I do dishes and chores everyday. Highly recommend it but just beware of the purple domination in the color.

- I love the flat brush. In fact, I love all nail polish with a similar flat brush but especially this one. The brush edge is rounded out instead of a straight line which makes it easier to reach the rounded corners near my cuticle
- The color looks like a dark lavender in good lighting but in poor.dark lighting it is more of a gray. I loved how it changed colors but others might not like this.
- I used 2/3 coats and a Sally Hansen top coat and it lasted more than a week before I got a small chip on my index finger. I washed dishes and did some mechanical work so this is really impressive.
- Also, it is super cheap. I used a $1.00 off coupon and it couldn’t have been anymore than $3.00…awesome.

Love gray-mauve-y nailpolishes. I enjoy You Don't Know Jaques (OPI) but it feels dark for summer. Rimmel's Steel Grey is more wearable, even on the toes (an I usually don't like darker colors on the toes - unless you have moist dewy foot skin dark colors look a bit deathly and zombie-like, I feel), because it's a softer gray but still in the same family as YDKJ so that cool industrial feel remains.
I'm surprised at how good the consistency is - very smooth and creamy, not at all streaky. Very easy to apply with the broader and flatter brush.

Love this polish! Actually I love all Rimmel polishes. Especially the brush and the color is beautiful. Stays on, no streaking, and min chipping. You only need about 2 coats!
