This is without a doubt the best eye pencil I've ever used. Black as night, stays on through the day, and best of all, hardly ever smudges unless I accidentally rub my eye. Expensive in comparison to other brands but as with so many things M.A.C., worth it.

Dear Smolder,
Where have you been my entire M/U life? I love you! Let me count the ways:

1. You are so pigmented; the blackest black I've found so far
2. You apply easily
3. You last all day
4. You smudge only when I ask you to
5. You're huge!

xoxo,
Me

I actually dont like this pencil. People keep saying that is soft and doesnt smudge. For me it is hard pencil (soft only when warmed up) and smudges on my waterline like crazy. I have recently discovered great eyepencil from Avon (supershock) which is just amazing and costed me only £3, so I will not pay anymore £12 for a pencil that is just ok.

Great liner, the price is a little steep, especially for a pencil.. but I love it. I've been using it for about a year and it has done well through all the seasons. It stays put when I tightline my eyes as well as on my lower lashline. Just set with Carbon and you're good to go!

This doesn't stay put well at all. There's something about the texture that just doesn't work well for me at all. It smears rather than smudges and doesn't sit well on the skin. Also, this kohl always hurts my eyes - I've never had any trouble before with MAC's products, but this irritates.

I don't have any constructive advice - still searching for the right eye kohl.

This is my HG eyeliner. I have been usuing it for over 5 years the color payoff is amazing and long as its set with a shadow it doesn't budge on me . This is perfect for tightlining.

A great basic eye kohl pencil. Very good color payoff - black as night, what the Powerpoint and Technakohl blacks often fail to provide. Very soft and creamy, it goes on effortlessly and I find the staying power quite decent even on the waterline. Just a small trick I do: I swipe it all over the tearduct, then do all the rest of my makeup. By the time I'm done with the entire face, this has faded ever so slightly, so I just re-apply once more and this way I find it lasts for a lot longer, I'd say you're good for about 4-5 hours after the second and final application. Smudges easily on the lid with a pencil brush or the fingers for that sexy scruffy rock effect. Makes for a great base to place dark eyeshadows on; it will crease a tiny bit, but it really brings out the darkness and possible sparkle of the colors. Will repurchase.

I am a professional makeup artist. I have smoulder eye kohl, black track fluideline, and have used numerous other black eyeliners. I HATE THIS eyeliner. When I apply it to a clients lids it's crumbles (ie...it's so soft it breaks almost instantly). When I am sharpening it, it always breaks because it's so soft...once again. OMG, there is nothing more frustrating than having it break over and over again when you are trying to work on someone. I use the blacktrack fluideline all the time except for in the waterline because waterproof liners can clog the tear ducts and cause some serious problems so you should never use a waterproof liner on the waterline, but smoulder is not a good alternative. If you have oily lids or are lining the lower lashline it will bleed. Which is not what anyone wants in an eyeline so I don't know why MAC created a "soft" eyeliner. In my kit it is pretty much used just to darken the lid before eyeshadow application. I break the tip off and smoosh it with my brush and paint it on....it works great for that. lol. I have heard that the NYX liner in black is amazing, so I think I'll give that a try.

Ok so maybe I should have bought the UD eyeliner in zero because I mostly use eyeliner for my waterline and upper lash line.. but this doesn“t stay put not even with black eyeshadow on top :( huge dissapointment!

Nice, creamy, and opaque black liner, but this doesn't stay put at all in my water line. I do use it for lining my upper and lower lashes and if I set it with eye shadow (usually Brun or Carbon) it will stay on all day without smudging or migrating.

This is the best black eyeliner pencil I've tried so far. It's really easy to apply, and as long as I smudge it out with a smudge brush, it stays put throughout the day. It helps to smudge black eyeshadow over it too.

My girlfriend gave this to me because she didn't like it. Now I know why.

Its too black. Maybe I would've loved that when I was in my early teens-20s when that whole lots of eyeliner look was in. I'm just not really into that look anymore. Its too harsh for everyday wear and too smudgy for night wear.

I'll use it til the end and won't be repurchasing. You can get better eyeliners from the drugstore that are better and last longer.

I think this product is really good if you want the 'smolder' look! The product does what it says!! If you want an eyeliner that is for waterline and stays put at waterline then this one is probably not as suitable.

This eyeliner is more suited if you want a smokey eye look with eyeliner on your bottom lash line! Gives it a really good effect! I Love it!

If you want an eyepencil for the waterline then I suggest MAC Technakohl! Its really good.

So I bought this eyeliner for my mom, as a present because she loves wearing eyeliner. The day she tried it on she came to me and was like please take it back it's too black and it doesn't stay put. I was like, ok, eyeliner for me, yaay. I figured that since I wear UDPP it shouldn't run. WRONG. I put it on this morning and sure its soft and black or whatever but by the end of lunch the eyeliner was on my brow bone and under my eyes enhancing my eyebags. I'm so disappointed because I totally wanted this to work and even InStyle says its the best eyeliner ever. I'm going to stick with MAC Powerpoint instead.

This pencil is really great on the waterline, throughout the day I just apply it one more time. It is very black, but the only place it smears thru the day is on my tear dot.

MAC's products are good, most of us can agree on that. I've never tried their eyeliners before, although I have heard good things. Now, this eyeliner is pretty good. It is long lasting during the day, so there is no need to reapply. It is very inky black, which I like, and goes on very easily. I'm only worried that it does smudge with ease, and that can be a problem if you've got oily skin. But the smudging can also be good if you want to create smokey eyes. It's very expensive, but it's worth it because it's a great eye pencil. It has seemed to last a very long time, and I'm very content with it.

I purchased MAC brown and black eyeliner at the Wisconsin state Fair. This is by far the best liner I have ever used and I have tried a lot. I will never use anything else and plan on ordering the other colors. So glad I gave it a try.

I have been using the mac fluidline in blacktrack to line my upper water line for a while and it was perfect in that it goes on sooo black and smooth with no tugging and pulling but it was kind of irritating my eyes because i dont think it's made for that. so i was on a mission to find something that went on just as easily and was just as black and intense but that was safer to use. This was supposed to be one of those really creamy eyeliners that goes on without a fight or going over the line again and again, from what I heard here and elsewhere. well this ws not my experience i was so excited to use it but linging my water line lower and upper i found I had to go over it over and over again to get any colour, what colour did show up was minimal at best and dissapeared into my eye within a few minutes. I tried to just reapply over what little colour was left and that just seemed to take more off ! also this was expensive for what it is because it dries out easily and needs to be sharpened a lot. I gave it two stars though because its ok at lining outside the water line

Finally found a kohl which doesn't cause allergy on my sensitive eyes. Though if I put it on the upper waterline it stings a bit but still great that my eyes doesn't swell after use!
Oh and it last like forever when you put it on. No need for adjustments during day :)
