I had open pores and dark spots on my face, so I decided to try the Proactiv Refining Mask as it is formulated to shrink pores. And fortunately it suited my skin type and worked wonders by reducing the spots and making my face clear. I neva expected the Proactiv product to act so fast and deliver such amazing results within a month. But I was worried about the customer service after reading not-so-good reviews about it online. But on the contrary, when I approached them, I got immediate help and my product got delivered in the stipulated time as promised by the customer care of Proactiv. I would like to add another piece of information that I think would be of much help when you assign for Proactive product delivery. Be wary that it is not obvious that once you buy the initial kit, you wont automatically be signed up to receive proactive products thereafter. So you have to ask the customer service representative to assign you for the same. Additionally if you don't like any Proactiv product or it doesn't work well on your skin, they also have refund policies where you can have your order refund!ed. I am writing this review to not only recommend this product for using but also for the great help that I received from the Proactive customer care service.

After suffering with mild acne in high school then enjoying years of perfectly clear skin, I started getting hormonal cystic acne around my jawline and cheeks, as well as random pimples all over my t-zone in my 20's. It was such a nightmare I spent hundreds of dollars on many different products trying to fix my skin - I tried to use mostly natural products because I do have quite fair, sensitive skin but I gave up and bought Proactive since I'd heard some great reviews.
Well that was the worst mistake evaaarrrr. I started using it once a day, for about a week and my skin got severely inflamed. I called the help-line (useless, they just told me to go to a doctor) and decided to only use it every other day - no luck, my skin was so irritated, red and puffy and my acne was the same if not worse.
After about a week and a half of using it sparingly my eyelids and eyes were burning, when I woke up in the morning they were swollen shut, I looked ridiculous, my fiance laughed at me and took pictures (how nice) and brought me ice packs and frozen tea bags to help the swelling, I took allergy medicine, washed with cool water, tried milk soaks... my eyes were swollen shut for about 3 days.
As if that didn't teach me enough, a few weeks later I was panicking about how bad my acne was and decided to try Proactive again .. About 12 hours after I used it once my eyes swelled shut again, this time while I was at work, very embarassing. Anyways to cut the story short I'm an idiot and did it TWICE MORE ... same results :S
So Proactive didn't work at ALL for me, it smells pretty harsh and chemically, it gave me a terrible allergic reaction, it irritated my skin and worsened my acne and gave me some pretty terrible, discoloured scarring, the customer service people were pretty useless, it doesn't smell nice, it is expensive, to return it and get your "money back" the shipping is like $15 (I didn't even bother..), it definitely irritated and made my skin much worse. Oh and also when I placed my online order there was the option of getting a tube of an additional treatment for half price, so I added that but when I received my bill it was full-price, I called customer service and had to argue and screen-shot & email them the offer as posted on their website before they would refund me the difference...
All in all I would advise anyone with sensitive skin or an allergy to BP (or any sort of allergy to harsh chemicals) to save your money and not bother buying it.
My skin has healed a bit in the several months since the Proactive abuse, and I have a new routine: wash with cetaphil to remove my makeup, followed by raw organic honey, and then pure organic jojoba oil as moisturizer (and self-tan every couple of days, ugh I know it's pore-clogging but I'm vain!). I have also been taking Vitex tablets, and washing my pillow cases 2/3 times a week instead of just once. Another thing that has helped is having a separate face towel instead of drying my face with my body towel. I also have been washing my makeup brushes often, and using only Garnier BB cream and Nude by Nature and Physician's Formula mineral powders on my face. Nothing has been a miracle cure for me yet, but hopefully the gentle treatment will help even more.

I have tried this system more than once over the years and always gotten the same result, which is no results and irritated skin. There are less expensive, more easily accessable drug store products that work better than this.

The only good thing about Pro Activ is its marketing department. These products are way too harsh on the skin. I used the 3-step system when I was in high school and found that the ingredients completely dried out my skin. This eventually made me break out even more than ever before. I immediately stopped using this product and began to use products without chemicals and my skin has been clear for years now.
The benzoyl peroxide is too harsh of a chemical and it bleaches bath towels if some haven't noticed. So why even put it on your skin?

This is the first negative review I have ever made. Proactive did not work for me. It did not get rid of the acne I had or have, and it only made my skin smooth. I will not recommend this product to anybody, but of course if it works for you then great.
If you want good acne products for sensitive skin then try Simple and Neutrogena. Also Olay is a good cleanser too. Though those are my biased brands.

This stuff is way too harsh for my sensitive skin! Also, because of the benzoyl peroxide, it will bleach everything it comes in contact with!!!! Watch out for bleached wash cloths, towels, bed sheets, clothes, etc!!!

Lately, my skin had been getting damaged due to the pollution I have to go through when traveling everyday. Initially, I didn’t pay so much attention but later my skin started becoming oily and I also started getting acne. I knew that the change in my traveling schedule had led to dis so I tried to see whether there was any product tht would help me in getting my skin back to normal. When I told my friend about it, she suggested that I check out the Proactiv online store. So I visited their site and was delighted to see the different variety of skin care products it offers. I saw the Proactiv cleanser bt before ordering I got in touch with their customer service. The customer representative I was talking to suggested that I should buy the Deep Cleaning Brush wid the cleanser for better results. On his suggestion, I ordered both the products which where delivered to my house within a short period. I am very impressed with the spontaneous service provided by Proactiv and will be visiting them again for buying more products.

Like most of you girls, Many a times, Ive got acne over my skin which tends to be very embarrassing when I go out anywhere. I had tried many different products to remove them but nothing worked. The acne was not the only problem but also the scars that were left behind. My cousin suggested that I use the Whitening Ex treatment from Proactiv online store. So, I bought the Whitening Ex solution from their online store which was delivered at my doorstep within a week. This product has given me great results and has helped in removing all the acne scars from my face. It has even lightened out my skin tone and making my skin soft and shiny. A sure recommendation to my friends!! Thumbs up!

Proactiv works, well for me anyway. However if you miss one day it's over. Little red horrible bumps will appear in the worst places. I like the cleanser and how it exfoliates gently. It's very drying though, so use a dime size. The only thing I hate is the fact that its not in stores. Clean & Clear 3 step or Neutrogenas 3 step work as well if not better. So don't feel bad if you have acne and just happen to come across those very convincing commercials !

On top of having acne-proned skin I also have sensitive skin. I tried proactive to rid me of oily pores and bought it at a kiosk from the mall for about $70, which was not a good use of my money. I used it as directed in the instructions and it dried my face like crazy! My skin began to flake and peel and it really lacked hydration. After washing my face, I applyed the toner which left me with a stinging sensation to my face and the moisturizer it came with wasnt very hydrating or calming towards the stinging toner. I thought using a thicker oil-free moisturizer would solve the problem but it didn't help at all. I felt like the refining mask could really do the job but it's recommended use was 2-3 times a week. Like the cleanser, it was also harsh on my skin but it gave me better results than the cleanser. It did clear the majority of my acne but I had to give up becuase it was damaging my skin. I find that alternating uses between a clay mask and a hydrating mask really worked for me and gave me much better results than proactive did.
