I use this after I put on my other powders from Bare Escentuals. This supposed to help my makeup stay on and it kind of does but not what I expect. It should keep oils off of my face but that definitely does not work at that.

I have been using BE for about a year and a half now, and when i started, i purchased the starter kit with the 2 foundations, mineral veil, bique, well rested, brushes, etc...It took me no time at all to figure out the swirl, tap, buff technique that worked best for me. I read so many rave reviews about mineral veil, so when i topped it all off with a buff of veil, i loved how it made my skin look! Dewy, luminous, perfect! I even went out and purchased the full size tinted mineral veil for those days when the MV is all i would put on my face, so i could get a hint of color too. Well....i started breaking out (with acne, not a rash). I am acne-prone and so i am careful with what i put on my skin. I was sooo bummed b/c i thought it was the BE foundation that was breaking me out, but i figured out it was only the MV when i used only one product at a time to figure out who was the culprit. For me, i had to swap away all my Mineral Veil, but i loved how it made my skin look (before the acne of course). But if you are acne prone, be careful with this product. Maybe its the corn starch, because that is one ingredient that isnt in the foundation. It gets 2 lippies b/c it looks great on, but not 5 b/c it broke me out. Oh well, thats what MUA is for- to swap it away!! :-)

BE is expensive is a major downside. I also very much dislike colored loose powders due to risk of losing my hold on the product, not being in control of the use of the product and just the whole general mess with it all. To compound these complaints, I loathe the foundation and I have given it every doubt, benefit, switch of the hand, one kind of buff to another with nothing but a yucky feeling on my skin that I feel I MUST immediately scrub off. With all of that being said, I do buy many of the color products because they are just too pretty to pass up, they just rarely get used unfortunately. Now, on to the Mineral Veil, this stuff is good. I don't rely on it entirely because I cannot afford it on a consistent basis and that I'm generally quite happy with my very low end powders. Mineral Veil is really soft in the container and out but almost to the point where I don't know where on my face I'm going over-kill on because I can't feel it unless I go way overboard. It is pretty, no shimmer but a lovely creamy translucence (I had no other words so bear with me). Like I said before, I can't use it consistently due to price and also being loyally drawn to my low ends but it's my little luxury when I want to use it over a sheer liquid foundation, a little spot concealer or just bare skin.

I had read raves for Bare Escentuals mineral makeup for what seemed like years. Finally, one day, during a trip to Sephora, I decided it was time to take the plunge. I purchased a starter kit complete with several shades of BE foundation, vitamin serum, brushes, eye shadow and Mineral Veil.

I know I'm the exception but I just can't tell you how much I despised the foundation. I don't normally wear any foundation and usually just follow my skincare routine with a light dusting of LeClerc powder. I was ready for a change and I wanted this to work. I tried it and it looked awful. I watched the video to make sure I was applying it properly. Still awful.

I had pretty much given up when I accidentally picked up the Mineral Veil and suddenly my opinion changed. It was exactly the look I wanted. I thought I had somehow mastered a technique that I had heretofor failed at. But then I realized I hadn't used the foundation, but the Mineral Veil.

As I said, it did exactly what I wanted: it evened out my skin tone and gave my skin a sort of velvety finish. It took away the shine without that totally flat, matte look that says that you're wearing a mask. The look lasted even on a relatively humid day. I have not yet had the opportunity to test this product during truly sweltering heat and humidity but so far, under virtually every other condition, it holds up superbly.

5 lippies with no reservations whatsoever.

I honestly don't understand how this product always gets such great reviews. The BE mineral foundation is okay... but this is just ridiculous. It doesn't do anything. There is seriously no difference when I have this on versus not putting it over the foundation. I have tried putting on a little, a lot, putting it on bare skin... does not even absorb oil well at all--blotting my face is more effective. I don't understand how people find this like a magic powder for them, maybe it's just like a placebo: It looks and sounds like it should work so they think it does? I have to admit I bought and kept using this convincing myself it was doing something great. Not so. This product is a gimmic hands down... corn starch is not going to be a "soft-focus" light on your face. There is just no way.

Loved it. I usually don't like powders, but this one is colorless and has a finish that's not exactly matte, but kind of "velvety". I usually apply over my sunscreen (or moisturizer) and concealer. Will definetely buy it again once I run out of it.

I thought that this would be too chalky on my skin, so I bought the tinted one first. Big mistake, too orange, etc. So I bought the normal Mineral Veil and I absolutely love it. I apply it with the Flawless Application Face Brush and while it goes on a bit light at first, if you buff it in thoroughly, it will not look too pale on your skin. It eliminates shine and gives a more flawless finish without looking heavy or fake. And I would recommend to mix just a teeny bit of that annoyingly orange tinted Mineral Veil in with the normal one, if you need just a hint more of color in your powder. The texture of this powder is great, super smooth and silky. But that causes problems with the packaging, because it slides around and spills easily. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product.

**EDIT**
Found something ridiculously superior, check out Coastal Scents Silica Spheres, reviews on MakeupAlley under "Unlisted Brand"
I will not repurchase this finishing powder, it is too expensive, and I have found something that works far better.

I would never put this on my face again.
It is clearly just corn starch. Look at the ingredients. There is nothing mineral about it. I think it is really sad to see a product deteriorate in quality so much since it has gone into mass production.
Ciao!

mineral veil, oh you make my skin look flawless and like i've been shot by my boyfriend photographer with his beauty dish light (which makes your skin look PERFECT no joke). your price i do not mind (although i did get 2 regular sized containers of you for free...SCORE!) because your container is oh so large and lasts a long time, as i only need a little bit. BE products don't expire either because they are natural products. i put this on with the feather light brush i got from the complexion enhancers starter kit and it feels oh so luxurious going on with that brush.

this product is good, but i don't think it's worth the money. I do like the bare minerals foundation, and will keep purchasing that, but I'm not sure this does anything additional for me.
