The only things I like about this lip balm are its cheapness and the tingling sensation it gives my lips. It is quite good for a lip product. However, I really cannot say much for the taste. Will probably buy this again, though, when I am in a let's-spend-money-on-lip-products mood.

I love this i use at night for extra moisturizing. I use Burt's Bee's during the day this is too heavy unless my lips were chapped then I would definitely use this my lips feel so great in the morning because of this and it's really cheap

Ugh, how can so many of you guys love this stuff? It has got to be one of my least favorite medicated lip balms. The smell is absolutely nauseating, as is the taste, too. Yuck! Plus, the consistency of it is waxy. I also don't find it to be all that healing for my lips since it really doesn't soak in much at all. Instead, it just sits there burning your lips and leaving them feeling dry. I would almost rather have go bare than use this stuff ever again. Eww!

It works. Though the pot is a pain in cold weather, this balm, which has been around forever, really stops the chapping and heals you up quick. Smell and taste are fun--a big step up from blistex and chapstick!

This irritates my sensitive lips a bit less than medicated chapstick, but it still bothers me. Not the greatest smell, but it moisturizes when you put it on. I'm put off by the fact that I have to reapply so often or my lips are drier than before. At least it's cheap and available everywhere.

This is a great affordable lip balm. I have used this for several years - love the little jars.

I really don't understand what the hype is about. I was advised to buy it when suffering chapping lips one ski holiday. I had also heard several good reviews on this product before so I was looking forward to actually owning one. It did NOTHING for me, and it smells/tastes horrible. I will not purchase another again.

Where has this been all my life? I never tried it until yesterday. In fact, I only bought it because I was about a dollar short of getting free shipping on an online order. This stuff is amazing though. I've been dealing with chapped lips for several weeks ever since I got a cold and it's healed them so well. It sloughed off all the dead skin and now my lips are nice and smooth. I actually kind of like the taste and smell and I love the cooling sensation. It also feels nice and creamy. I will never be without this!

This is my HG of lip balms. I use the tube version, because I hate having to wipe my finger off every time I apply it. My fiance doesn't like the stick version because it's too waxy, and I have to agree with him. It's the tube or nothing at all.

Living in a cold climate = chapped lips all winter long. However, having discovered this stuff I'm hoping that will be a thing of the past. It is absolute magic, and is far superior to anything else I have ever tried. It stinks, and the taste is a bit manky too, but its a small price to pay for smooth, soft, non-cracking lips. And its fairly cheap. Only drawback is that where I live I can only buy it in a pot, not in a tube which would be preferable.

Carmex is about $5AUD in sydney, available at pharamacies. It only comes in a tub in sydney i believe, which i dislike...
but luckily carmex's consistency is fairly thick, so it doesn't melt and go all goopy disgusting in ur handbags.
Two swipes with fingertip will be enough to cover the lips, i often smear it out to the lip contour area as well because I often get cold sores or some sort of contact dermatitis from a lot of lipgloss products. Carmex really helps it, and it's also good as a lip exfoliant and gets rid of all flakies.
It's yellow in the tub, reminds me very much of prada shielding balm in color and sometimes in consistency.
it tingles a bit on application, which is excellent when u have cold sores because it really soothes it, doesn't have much smell too.
if u really want me to pick something wrong about it, besides the ugly yellow and white tub packaging, it doesn't taste really nice, but that's bearable since i use it mainly at night.
**ETA**
the menthol inside finally caught up with me, i think i've developed some sort of allergy with this, it makes my lips swollen and red and tingly when i use it now :(

This stuff is my saviour. I get really chapped lips in the winter, and I slather on a thick layer of this from the squeeze tube, and my lips feel instantly better. It tingles, and almost "burns" when I put it on sore lips, but I know it's working when that happens. Also, it's nice and glossy so it looks pretty. I'm not as fond of the "chap stick tube" style, or the lip pots, but they are ok. The squeeze tube is the BEST.

I prefer the tube but I'll use the jar too. This is the best treatment I have ever used.. and have been using for over 13yrs. I can put it over cracked(open) lips and in less than a day its healed and no pain. I am soo addicred to the tingle and the feel of it on. Unless wearing l/s there isnt a time I dont go an hour a day without it, have jars and tubes everywhere!! Yes it is menthol, yes it has petrolatum, salicylic acid and camphor BUT it is NOT drying, nor will it hurt your lips anymore than vicks would hurt your chest, lol. And all the "myths" are wrong, no weird things in it, but the addiction myth is somewhat true because you get so into the tingle and cooling sensation you use it more-so yes that can be construed as addictive to some :). All I know is not only do I love it, anyone who sees me with it tells me how much they love it too. Smell is insignificant with how well it works! Definite buy for all.

Love this stuff period. Personally I prefer the tube version because I hate products that I need to put my fingers into because they always get under my finger nail and that annoys me. Anyways. I won't lie, the smell is horrible. Plastickly, menthol-like, and in general..not good. Thankfully the odd smell fades after a few minutes along with the tingly feeling that it gives even though I like the tingly feeling. However..this is a great balm. My normally flaky and chronically chapped lips were healed next to instantly. It lasted a decent amount of time as well. It didn't spread on too thickly and it didn't feel too waxy. Gave a decent shine without being too greasy. Can't beat the price for a little over a dollar. The smell is something to get used to though..But I definitely would buy this again.
**Edit okay so maybe the initial joy at getting a product that actually semi-healed my chapped lips got me over excited there. When the stuff's not on me..my chronically dry lips get dry again. so yeah. Go figure. It's not a miracle product, but it's pretty good. Smell/taste is still horrible, but I'm getting used to it. I sometimes use it at night, and I think that that added on to wearing Lancome's Juicy Tubes give me most undry lips that I'm ever going to get. Don't know if I'm going to buy this again though. I might want to try more.

This has to be the best lip balm I have ever used. One application lasts through at least 8 hours w/o eating. And it even stays put through two hours of swim practice. The smell is invigorating and its not too waxy. I use the tin so the only problem is I g

Carmex can turn sandpaper lips into a tingly smooth smile in seconds flat. Yes, the smell is a cross between plastic and menthol and the texture is waxy, but the stuff lasts and really really works. It is also great for soothing irritated skin around your nose (from sneezing) if you are suffering from a cold or flu. There is a reason Carma labs have been around for all these years without any advertising. :-)

Tastes TERRIBLE but it does work. I use this stuff when my lips need major help, like after a day of snowboarding if my lips actually begin to crack. However, I have to be in really bad shape to reach for this one as the smell and taste make me gag.

I love my Carmex. It's greasy, which is good, because it keeps your lips feeling soft and supple. And the menthol gives it that nice cooling feeling. I can see how some may be turned off by the smell, but you can quickly overcome it; I did. As many have already noted, it's practically a steal at under $1 in some stores. It's worth buying. (Worse case scenario: You don't like it and you're out $1.)

Carmex is the BEST, period! I prefer the little pot, think it has the best consistency but the tube works fine, too. Really great if you have extremely chapped lips! In the pot @ Wal-Mart, it's only 89 cents USD, I believe. Yay! ♥
