Even though I was very happy with my EM and yes even Physicians Formula, I had to see what the all the hype was over this mu. The coverage of Alima was very poor for me and it seemed messier to apply, like it wouldn't stick to my brush very well. It also seems to be very drying. They had super fast shipping though but that's about it. I'll stick with my Everday Minerals.

Im in the minority I guess. This mineral foundation was just OK for me. I tried six different shades and they all seemed way too light, or not right for me. Im usually a LM warm ivory and I tried Alima's warm and neutral shades and they just didn't seem right. Im having better luck with Everyday minerals matte in Golden Fair.

Wow... I guess I am the only person who did not like this makeup and belive me, I tried. I have combination, roscea, fair-medium, ruddy sking. After six samples and wearing it for two weeks I found that the coverage did not last very long and by the end of the day my oil was not controlled at all. I have been using Jane Iredale for the past two years and was content but was looking for a better color selection and longer lasting coverage. Maybe I'll have better luck with Everyday Minerals. I will say that you cannot beat the price... but I just don't get why everyone is raving about this so much. Maybe it is not for my skin type.

Love, Love, Love it!!! Over my 32 yrs. of makeup buying I have probably spent tens of thousands of dollars on every line of makeup out there. I have a nasty T-zone area and I usually need to wear powder foundation. I have tried Bare Minerals and did not like it. It broke out my skin and settled into my facial lines. I was about to spend money on it again until I read all the great reviews about Alima. Well, I tried it and feel in love! No matter how much I put on it did not cakeup in my lines. I tried the N3, N4. These are pretty neutral for my light medium skin tone. Next I think I will try W3 and W4 to see if I like it any better. Once you find the foundation color that matches your skin, just pick the next lighter shade to use as a concealer. It really covered up the dark blue circles under my eyes.
When I ordered, they also sent a beautiful sample of blush in Carnation, and two other samples.
If you need help matching your skin tone just email them or give them a call. They are very helpful and quick to respond.
The thing I love best about this line is that you can get samples to try at home that are very generous. I don't know how many times I bought a product I thought I liked only to try it at home for a couple of days and see that it looks different in the lights at home than at the store. Try it you'll love it.

About me:
Asian, slightly warm skin, medium-fair (NC32-35), acne-prone and sensitive skin. I'm looking for a mineral foundation without potentially irritating ingrediants, that has decent (at least medium), natural-looking coverage and can last 12 hours with a good finishing powder. Keeping my face matte would be a plus.I apply mineral foundation with a kabuki brush, after using a spray toner and a liquid sunscreen.

Pros:
-Fantastic color selection--literally for people of EVERY skintone (they have cool, neutral, warm, golden, bronze, olive, and ebony. 4-7 different shades under every skintone.I'm a W-3, but I'm going to add a sample-size container of N-3 to slightly cool down the color.
-Outstanding customer service. I always ask a lot of questions--and they have been both very patient and very helpful with the answers. If ordering products online seems intimidating, you'd definitely want to give them a try.
-For me, the pigmentation is perfect. One layer, buffed on, gives medium coverage--enough to cover up most of my blemishes/uneven skintone without being cakeup. You can layer on for additional converage.
-The texture is very nice...it's finely milled and goes on very smoothly.
-The finish is exactly what I'm looking for--more matte then BE's "shimmery" finish, but not quite as matte (and drying) as jlynne. It's basically a soft, silky matte finish.
-It may be too easy to say for certain, but this hasn't clogged my pores at all so far
-I wouldn't rely on this as sunscreen, but with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as the first two ingrediants, this will offer some sun protection. Both are also physical sunscreens that are usually well tolerated by sensitive skin

Cons:
-This is a small one, but the warm tones are just a bit too yellow (especially consideirng that the golden is even more yellow) for east asian skin. I wish they would cool it down just a bit. However, this is easily remedied by adding a bit of the neutral or cool color (get a sample) into a full size
-The samples are a wee bit smaller then what I've received from other companies for a similiar price or cheaper. They fill a 3 gram jar (but are not 3 gram in weight). Still, I have no complaints, since they are bigger then the 1/4 tsp promised on the website--I'd say roughly 1/2 tsp.

I love this foundation! I tried Bare Escentuals and oh, YUCK. My face looked like a disco ball! After reading the reviews on here, trying some samples, I finally found my color match (Charmeuse N-4). OMG ladies- this stuff is beautiful and their eyeshadows are FABULOUS. I just ordered my first FULL SIZE order and cannot wait to get it in. I absolutely LOVE not clogging my pores with liquid foundation anymore. This stuff is fabulous!!

So get this: I have been browsing MUA reviews with utter regularity since 2003 - more than 3 years - and I have NEVER been moved to write a review. This is my first one. Woohoo!!! I guess I was just waiting until I found a product spectacular enough. I have pale neutral skin with slight yellow tones. My skin is mostly clear, but I get monthly hormonal breakouts on my chin, so I always have at least one dark spot or scar. I generally don't care for liquid foundation, and I had been using MK Timewise Powder foundation in Ivory 100 for about a year now. I liked it okay, but it didn't give me enough coverage. I'm getting married in a couple of months and am on a quest to nail down the best makeup for me.

Enter Alima. I read about it here, checked out the website, and ordered samples in Chiffon and Almond. Chiffon is my best match, Almond was just a little too yellow. They say their samples are enough for "several applications," but for me and the level of coverage I desire, I've been using the Chiffon sample for a week now and I can't imagine running out any time soon. (Though I went ahead and ordered the full size already.)

This stuff just seems to disappear into my skin, in the best way possible. First I tried applying with a flocked sponge, but I found that a fluffy powder brush is better. I empty a tiny bit onto a tupperware lid or saucer, swirl my brush around, tap off the excess, and lightly sweep it onto my face. I'm also using it as my concealer, too, and I have pretty dark undereye circles (as well as the aforementioned hyper-pigmentation). I actually use an eyeshadow crease brush for that, it's perfect for applying under the eyes. I use a 3-4 layers for concealing, and 1 - 2 for the rest of my face.

My chin seems to be clearing - I'll have to wait and see if I get my usual breakout this month. My skin can be sensitive sometimes and tiny blotches will appear when I am tired or under stress, but I haven't had any of that lately either, though I have been tired and stressed.

Their customer service is wonderful, the company ethics really appeal to me, and did I mention the samples? I am also LOVING their eyeshadows, btw. In short, Alima rocks!

UPDATE: NO HORMONAL BREAKOUTS THIS MONTH!!! I love you Alima!! My skin loves you! It is so happy with you!

I'd never used mineral foundation but after a severe acne outbreak had been on the lookout for something safe and sheer, with appropriate color matching for my Asian skin. Thanks to MUA, I discovered Alima. I tried 6-8 samples, and tried many combinations without finding a good color match (either too olive, too yellow or too brown). Finally I emailed them and asked them what they thought of combining W2 and G1; they kindly sent me free samples of both and a larger container to mix them!!!! And this is the right combo for me! At last, I look like my skin color, only better, and with a matte but soft finish. It's nice to not have to use too many ingredients on one's face either.

What can I say it's the best mineral make-up! Superior than Everyday Minerals foundation and million times better than Physicians Formula powder. It has such a fine texture. And what's even more important for me it's basicly consist of titanium and zinc oxides not mica like others. Perfect for sensitive skin.

Their color selection is impressive. It also can be used as undereye consiler and base for eyeshadows. It doesn't conrol shine on my nose too well, but that's what oil-controling powder is for.

I am not crazy about is their finishing powder as it doesn't control oil as well and isn't transporant as EM finishing dust.

Update: I have to admit that by the end of the day it looks very chalky on my oily skin. Plus it makes look my pores huge. I went back to liqiud.

"Alimaaaa! I just got makeup called Alimaaa! And suddenly that name, will never be the same, to meeeeeee!" Where do I begin?? First of all, there's the SHADES. They have OLIVE shades, people! Such a selection, I am so impressed! Then, their formula; quite different from most MMU. Rather than Mica as the first and predominant ingredient, theirs is Titanium Dioxide (and Zinc Oxide, Sericite Mica, Iron Oxides). Titanium Dioxide is a sunscreen, and Zinc Oxide is an astringent (removes oil from the skin) that heals the skin and provides sun protection as well. I believe these ingredients create the great coverage. The COVERAGE!!! It feels like creamy SILK on your skin, and covers so very well! Let me tell you this: Alima don't make a concealer - they don't NEED to! I got a sample of Shade 1N to try as a concealer on my VERY DARK, deep Italian V indentations under my eyes (I mean, if I didn't use concealer I'd look like I had the PLAGUE, I am not kidding). Their foundation is BETTER than the best MMU concealer I've ever used, Aromaleigh Pure Cover. I've also used Larenim, BE, and Everyday Minerals concealers and Alima foundation offers 200% better coverage! I dab a bit of What Red Pure Luxe Cream Eraser under my eyes and on zits, brush on Alima w/ a Japonesque Foundation Brush and GONE!!!! Matte, smooth looking (I have texture and slight milia under my eyes, at 48) and PERFECT. And, it's not the Eraser either: I get the same results without it. It's better than cream concealer because it doesn't fade or crease or move, no layers of eye cream and concealer and setting powder under the eyes. I am ASTOUNDED and thrilled! I use a concealer brush in one shade lighter than my face to cover blemishes: stays covered all day. I am oily and a face-perspirer...living in hellish GA in the summer, and running around at work all day, my face perspires alot. This foundation stays the freshest-looking of any I have tried - and I don't use the finishing powder either; I do blot w/ papers once a day. When I drive home and look in the mirror, my skin looks the SAME as it did 10 hours earlier. They sent me several samples: the eye shadows are lovely!!!! BTW, they make a shimmery finishing powder if you are not a matte gal. I absolutely love this line - I have a HG mineral foundation and I want you all to love it too!!! www.alimacosmetics.com
