I've been using this product for about 8 years and during that time, I can count the number of zits I had on one hand! I would never trade this cleanser in for anything else - I have a very oily Tzone and this cleanser totally keeps it in control!

Ew. I was attracted by the back-to-basics, pure look of the commercials, but this cleanser doesn't just clean...it sucks all the nutrients and moisture out of your face! It left my face feeling tight and dry (and normally I have Combination skin) and in desperate need of an emollient moisturizer. Not only that but it tastes and smells bad too (I noticed this when I used it in the shower). ACK! One of those cases where you get what you pay for.

I used to be able to use this product when I was younger. Now it is too harsh for me. I used it twice and my skin started flaking even though I used mositurizer with it. I have super oily skin too. My acne flare up did calm down though.

How come this is always on TV??? Who is buying this stuff??? I tried this cleanser for a while but it didn't really do anything at all except make my skin squeaky clean... which I don't think is a good thing. I just want to remind people that if you didn't have luck with this either it's probably because no matter what cleanser you use you can't get rid of acne. You need to cleanse, tone, moistruize, and use an acne cream to get rid of acne. Don't believe the lies on TV. Pure Zone works a lot better.

I love this product! I use it every morning to clean up all gel... (those over-night leaveon treatment) on my face. Got my skin feeling so clean, not sticky, and pretty soft. I sometime use it to remove makeup also, but gotta wash my face twice when using it to remove makeup, so I could makeup everything is GONE. A product for just 5 bucks with pretty good result, I'll sure buy it again. :D

call me crazy, but I like this. Keeps my complexion even and smooth. Go, Neutrogena!

i have combo skin and this cleanser stripped the moisture right out of it after the first wash, it's one of the most drying cleansers i've tried. i do not recommend this cleanser to anyone.

I use this product as a treatment of sorts-not as a soap unless I have a major breakout problem
this is real strong stuff here
BUT-here is a tip-
if you have any pimples-especially those ones that are painful and under your skin and won't pop-put a dab of this cleanser on at night and watch it transform your pimple-it really dries it out and in my case, it prevented my pimple from surfacing
pretty neat, heh?

I myself don't use this cleanser because I find it, like most of the reviewers here, very drying. However, it's worked miracles for my mom. She suffered from frequent breakouts for many years. Since using this product for about a year twice a day she now has skin that makes me green with envy. Not a single flaw! She doesn't even wear foundation anymore, yes, it's that good! Me on the other hand, I'll stick to my sage facial shampoo. *sigh*

I didn't like it at all and certainly didn't get any good out of it but dry and very tight-feeling skin very time I applied it to my face.

great face wash for acne prone skin with oiliness..i'm not sure how it would work out for dry skin though (since i'm combo, but leaning more towards oily). i would've given it 5 lipsticks, but i found it drying at first, so i needed to make sure i moisturized. it was relatively inexpensive. nothing fancy about the packaging, but and easy pump, which you can use with just one hand...easy to contol the amount you dispense. it fulfilled it's promises: my skin is noticeably smoother after just a couple days of morning/night use, it's not as red and irritated as it can be with other acne cleansers, and is overall a great cleanser! i'm running out, so i have to get another bottle!

Terrible! Very bad chemical smell and it dries out my skin so, so bad!!! I can't see how this would be beneficial to anyone's skin!

I got a hand-me-down bottle of this from my sister who didn't like it and I'm glad I didn't pay for it because I hated this cleanser too. I agree with the many comments that it left a sticky film on your skin and that it was very drying. Maybe if you have serious oil and acne it would be good, but for the occasional break out it is way too harsh.

Review for the generic Safeway version of this (bought at Randall's grocery store) - far better than the one lippie I gave to the Neutrogena product below!

Good product, but ONLY for really oily skin - NOT combo. I am careful to lather this up only on my oily areas, avoiding the areas around my eyes and mouth. Rinses clean for me, leaving no film and better yet - no oil. Helps the pimples start healing, but I imagine the level of drying would be disastrous to anyone not incredibly oily (like me). I'd alternate it with another product to avoid extreme dryness, but it does sap my oil away.

I really hate this product. It leaves a film on your face, and it doesn't clean or refresh at all. I don't recommend it at all. It leaves your face the same. The oil stays.

Yes, this wash is extremelly drying and I wouldn´t use this unless you have super duper oily skin. Even so, a weekly wash should be enough. It does help to combate mild acne, but only as long as you use it very diligently.

maybe i'm a sucker for foaming cleansers that wash clean and make my skin feel clean but these... eww... they leave a gross film on ur skin, and it doesn't seem to wash completely off. A total put off.

Made my skin as dry as a coconut husk. It didn't do anything about my acne either.

It dried my skin out, and around my period when my skin becomes sensitive, it would burn a little. Haven't had much luck personally with Neutrogena skin care products. I switched to Oil of Olay and have had much better luck.

This product used to work for me but I think that my skin has somehow become immune to it. It doesn't get rid of my pimple anymore and it doesn't prevent any futher breakouts anymore either. This product also leaves a really weird shiny film on my skin. This really makes me sad because I miss having clear skin :(
