This is the only liquid foundation I would still use. I use Mineral Makeup from time to time but still find myself coming back tot his. Its nothing fancy, but rather it is quality foundation with amazing neutral colors at a good price. This works wonders on my dry skin. Try it!

I tried to like this foundation: I'm over 40 with pale, dry, sensitive skin. It smooths on easily, has medium coverage(minimizes freckles), doesn't irritate or dry out my skin. Sounds perfect, right?
For two weeks I tried samples of light cream, nude, and sand and even mixed them to try to get the right shade. Unfortunately, every day that I wore this base, someone (even my husband)would ask me "Are you feeling all right?" the comments were that I looked paler than usual or ashen. I FELT FINE!
I think this might be part of the reason some reviewers thought it made them look older. Could it be the concentration of the titanium dioxide sunscreen which is opaque white? I just glad I got samples first

I'm surprised at all the negative reviews on this foundation as it's been a miracle product for me! First of all, I like that this foundation has broad spectrum SPF 15 protection, which is a rarity in foundatins. Secondly, the colors all look true and I happened to get lucky when I picked a near perfect match for my skintone with the Sand color. Lastly, this foundation offers excellent coverage and hasn't caused any breakouts. This would not be appropriate for anyone with oily skin but it does say on the tube that it's intended for normal to dry skin. I don't even need concealer when I use this because it covers dark circles and any other skin imperfections I might have. I've found that it really helps to use a good quality loose powder to set it. I use T. LeClerc loose powder or Laura Mercier, both of which work well. I'm sorry this hasn't worked well for other reviewers but it's definitely a keeper for me!

This has to be one of the worst foundations I've ever tried. It tugged going on and was impossible to spread evenly, no matter what technique I used. Also found the colors way too yellow.

I give this foundation credit for making such a decent pale shade. However, I give this foundation no other credit...I had such high hopes for this foundation, and it's awful! It feels like a horrid sticky greasy mask when you first apply it..and you'd think something that heavy would have great coverage atleast...but no, it did nothing for my blemishes, etc. ugh, I'm so glad I requested a sample before I ordered it. never again.

I wasn't sure whether to give this foundation 5 stars or merely one. Or none.
Here is why: One the one hand, this foundation truly lives up to it's claim. It will give you a matte finish - or, according to the esteemed Ms Begoun a "soft" matte finish, whatever this may mean - it blends impeccably, the colours are truly "skin" colours and it will last all day. So far, so good and 5 star worthy.

On the other hand, it will make you look OLD. Or, in case that you are very young, you will look older. Considerably. Even if the selected shade matches the skin perfectly and is blended skillfully. This product will eliminate every ounce of natural dewy-ness or radiance from your skin. Never mind what moisturizer is worn underneith it. And I have yet to meet a grown woman of any age who want's to look a decade older.

In addition, this foundation is aimed at people with "normal to dry skin", but I sincerely doubt that anyone with dry skin will find it even the slightest bit moisturizing.

Personally, I wouldn't repurchase the product. Incidentally, nor would either of my friends who tried it. Whilst all of them loved the shades, each and every one of them ( 35 - 45 age group) bemoaned the aging effect produced by this foundation. A great pity, really since this product is great in every other respect.

Someone called this a "running to the grocery store" base -- and yes, it is very light and sheer. I would call it a weekend base, but I guess that we are saying the same thing. The finish is luminous -- love it!!!! If you put on pressed powder afterward, you might get more coverage.

I am an Asian with dry and extremely sensitive skin. It is very hard for me to find the right shade of foundation. After I read the product reviews, I ordered sand and wheat from Paula's Choice and found that wheat is the PERFECT shade for me. My husband complimented me and said that I looked as if nothing was on my face." The shade of wheat is natural on me.

Good stuff. Creamy like milk. They have good customer services as well. I emailed them for some questions and they answered me right away. I heard they improved the formula and packaging? Can't wait to try it.

Great color selection--I'm hard to match and Sand with a little Nude mixed in is perfect. But--the texture and finish do not compare to my HG: Px Virtual Youth. VY has the most beautiful, slightly dewy finish, a little more coverage with a more natural look, and the right color match. Paula's All Bases Covered is a great backup for "going to the grocery store" makeup, but I will not repurchase when this runs out.

I just bought this again after a long time hating it (but still searching for a dry skin foundation for winter) and was very pleasantly surprised by this formulation now. PB has improved the texture of this foundation. It no longer feels as heavy or is as hard to smooth on the skin as before, which is great for my sensitive dry skin(too much pulling and blending aggravates my skin). I also found Sand was a good color for my BB sand, LM warm ivory skintone, whereas before I had to mix sand and nude together to get a match. She has also improved the container. It's still a tube but it's a softer tube now so easier to squeeze and now it will be easier to get the last drops out of the tube. This foundation has not been advertised as improved but I swear the formulation has changed as well as the container. Try it for yourself. UPDATE: Been using this a month now and I would give this 5+ stars if I could. Absolutely does not aggravate my rosacea even with wearing it daily. Lasts the day, can be personalized--I mix in some Sheer Tint and some liquid shimmer sometimes to make it sheer and light reflecting. It takes 10 years off my face, is kind to my dry skin, light but covers too. SPF all physical sunscreen. Great price. I could go on and on. I have been looking for a long time for a foundation that would work for me. (Don't believe it? Check out my reviews!) At long last success! I'm now in line to kiss PB's feet.

I love this foundation. I am using alabaster since I'm very pale. It is creamy yet not caky. I use it during the day since it has sunblock in it. The packaging could be more elegant, other than that, good job Paula!

Oooh, I love this. I've got sensitive combination skin that flakes, and have terrible luck with foundation. I’ve tried everything – Laura Mercier, MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Vincent Longo – and this, for me, works best. Nice creamy texture (thick but fairly sheer), “nude” is the perfect match for my skin, it doesn’t settle in my pores or look pancake-y, and it’s got SPF 15. Non-drying, non-greasy, doesn’t accentuate flaking and lasts all day.

This would be particularly good for very pale women: I ordinarily take the lightest shade available, but with this, I had to bump up to “nude” from “alabaster."

Used to wear LM: got a free sample of this from Paula's site, and now I've switched.

I have mix feeling about the product. I like the color (alabaster). It's very neutral. I also like the feel of it when I apply it. It's smooth and not too shinny, covers well. I also like it with SPF15, so I tend to use it during daytime. The thing I don't like it is the packaging. The prints on the tube comes right off to make my hands dirty! The tube itself is too stiff. I wish it comes in a more elegant tube.

I only liked 2 things about this foundation. Nude was *perfect* for my NC20 skin color. The SPF15 is great too. But I didn't like anything else about it... It was really thick and went on shiny/greasy looking. It didn't cover imperfections. It didn't stay on my combo skin for even one hour despite using a matte oil-absorbing powder over it. If you want to try this out before buying, you can get free samples on the website.

This is a great foundation. I am very picky about having good SPF coverage (UVA and UVB). The coverage is light to medium, and it is easy to blend. I tried Cliniques SPF anti-aging formula in two colors, but I didn't like it as much as this, and ended up going back to Paula's choice. For SPF foundation, this is my HG!

I have dry skin and mild acne with some scars and flaky spots (several). This finish and coverage work well for me. Nothing will cover the flakes, but this doesn't seem to make them worse.
Update #1: I got a new tube, and it doesn't seem as thick as before, maybe because that one was drying out? Anyway, it's the best I've found, bumped to 5 lippies. HG UPDATE #2: Ok, I still like it the best, but why does it sink into my "laugh lines"? It's pretty perfect otherwise, but I'm especially picky. Now I have to put powder in that area. I hate powder, now i have to search for one I like? Ugh. Update #3: This formula must have been changed at some point. It's now much creamier and less thick, making it super easy to apply. But I have this odd problem now: Toward when I'm finished, and there's only little f/d left on my fingertip, it starts to ball up and the residue on my fingertip is white, as if the Tit. Diox. sunscreen separates out just a little and sticks to my fingertip. It's not a big problem, but it's really strange. The coverage is good for most days, and when I need more, I mix in a little Clinique repairwear f/d in Alabaster. Perfecto! Update #5: That problem seemed to be only when I used it over certain products, like they reacted against each other, which I solved by not using them. This is the longest I've ever used one product, let alone f/d, so believe me, it really is that nice, if your skin is like mine. Update #6: Still using this as of January 2007, every time I stray I come back to it, I do wish Paula would create a higher SPF, slightly more coverage version of it though.

It's not quite holy grail materila but it's pretty good. Not greasy at all, but not drying, provides a good amount of coverage and didn't break me out!! I would definitely repurchase.

I used a sample of this. The pluses: it isn't cakey or greasy, it doesn't emphasize dry patches, it has a sunscreen, and the lightest shade is a good match for my pale skin.

The minuses: it's very thick, somewhat hard to blend, and it offers slightly heavier coverage than I usually like.

I'm on the fence, but am thinking of purchasing a bottle for the days when a tinted moisturizer isn't enough.
