I think most people will find this mascara to be too subtle for the effect their going for. It doesn't volumize, lengthen, or curl like, for instance, Diorshow. The main reason I use this mascara as opposed to other more dramatic types is because it doesn't smudge. It's one of the only mascaras I've worn (I've worn clinique, lancome, dior, maybelline, l'oreal, perscriptives, covergirl, and revlon) that doesn't smudge. Unless you get rained on, cry, or wash your face this stuff doesn't budge. It's really to my advantage since I never got into the habit of looking in the mirror every 20 minutes or fixing my makeup. Before, I'd go to the bathroom and realize I'd probably been walking around for an hour or two with huge dark circles under my eyes.
It provides enough volume and length for most to consider it for a "daytime look". That's enough for me. It doesn't clump and isn't too thin, like some Lancome mascaras, and seperates just fine. And it's cheap. I've given up on expensive designer mascaras just because it's recommended you throw it away and buy a new one after three months.
Edit: I took a lippie off, because there are better mascaras out there. However, If all you really want is a "natural" look, consider this still rated 5 out of 5.

This is a holy grail for me. Makes my long, blond lashes visible. No lengthinging, no thickening. No smudges, no flakes. Just separates and colors my lashes. Admittedly, if you are looking for volume or length, you have the wrong product, but for me this is PERFECT!! I hope they never discontinue or reformulate. Are you listening, neutrogena?!

Almost no smudges. I like the way this one feels going on, very light and very few clumps. But I still am looking for one that will not smudge within only a few hours of application. Perhaps layered under Clarins Mascara Fix?

Great mascara...as everyone's said, it's very natural for day, never smudges, and at the end of the day it's a breeze to wash off (doesn't leave rings around my eyes or run down my face). My only quibble is that a tube doesn't last very long...I find that they start to dry out and get a slightly gasoline-y smell after a bit. But hey, it's cheap and they always say you should change your mascara frequently to avoid infection, so maybe that's a good thing! I don't use this for night, though. For that try Rimmel Extra Super Lash for a nice wet look, or if you have a boatload of money, Dior Show for lots of fullness/volume.

I know this is supposed to be subtle and weightless, but in order to get any on my lashes I have to apply like 5 times. However, it is very natual looking. I wear this to school a lot so I don't look made-up. It can tend to flake sometimes. But if you are looking for something VERY subtle then it is great.

I've always hated the clumpy, sticky, stiff look that traditional mascara gives. Considered trying the Neutrogena Clean Lash Tint but I was kinda afraid, figured I needed something with a little more oomph- Found this. Love it. It does what it claims, gives you some definition and some volume without being clumpy and fake looking. I naturally have longish lashes, and I liked how this stuff didn't make them fall out, and they were still really soft to the touch. The big fluffy wand is great, I never have to use my lash comb. It's very versatile, you can create a lot of looks with this product- one coat for natural looking, or build some more for dramatic looks minus the clump. It really packs some staying power- no smudging- I'm a runner, and I live in Alabama (that must be the ultimate test) YET it is very easy to remove at the end of the day. It'll soon become your standby, and hey, it's only about six bucks! Okay, I'm starting to sound like a commercial...

I did like this mascara. It did what it said, thickening my lashes without clumping. The color was nice too. However, I just can't wear non-WP mascaras in Texas in the summer, as they disappear at the slightest hint of moisture. I wish they'd made a WP version!

A decent product. I bought it because I had a Neutrogena coupon and it was on sale at CVS. I'm glad I tried it - the effect is quite subtle, but there is absolutely zero clumping, no matter how many times I apply it. Those looking for a dramatic look should skip this one.

I thought this was okay. Not spectacular not bad. Didn't do much for me but didn't flake either. Clumped a lot though.

Makes lashes shiny and a bit more voluminous. I like it a lot because it doesn't smudge, clump, or flake at all!! But with my puny lashes, this mascara does not make them stand out enough. Still looking for HG mascara...

This is my all time favorite mascara. I have used expensive, sephora brands but I always come back to this. No clumps, no mess, applies perfectly every time and you can't beat the price.

I hated the Full Volume mascara, but was intrigued by the idea of a mascara that didn't weigh down lashes (I have very fine, downward-pointing lashes and am always looking for a mascara that holds a curl well). This is nice, though it's not nearly as good as a waterproof mascara for holding a curl. The formula is not too wet or too dry, feels very light, and can be buildable (with some lash combing to prevent the slight clumping that does occur with a second or third coat). I got a bit of extra length and lots more volume--the individual lashes didn't look overly-caked and twiggy like with some 'volumizing' formulas--it looked like I just had more lashes. Holds a curl okay, not better or worse than any other non-wp mascara I've tried. I like the packaging too. Comes off easily enough with eye m/u remover (Rimmel) and doesn't smear or flake during the day. The price is a bit steep for a drugstore mascara, especially for something that's very natural-looking. Might repurchase.

This is my favorite mascara. It is not clumpy, not globy, not fake looking - its just a nice little layer of darker color for your lashes. It doesn't come off during the day ever, but if you go swimming...one time underwater and its all gone. Perfect.

Not bad, particularly (IMO) for those of us with fine, very straight lashes that many (most?) mascaras pull the curl out of. This one does not do that, at least on me. It is indeed a very light mascara in terms of weight. As other women have said though, if you want drama, you'll have to apply multiple coats.

I bought this in a search to replace my HG mascara, which was Almay One Coat in blue-black, which has been discontinued. Gave up my search for a drug store blue that had the beautiful, deep, subtle color of Almay and got this Neutrogena in Rich Black, since I'm still angry at Almay. I have medium long, thick, curly lashes and like a softer look, so this sounded promising. Also liked the fact it's wax-free, as I have sensitive eyes. It is weightless, but it takes at least 2-3 coats for any volume. It doesn't flake or run on me at all, lasts well, and comes off clean with regular washing. But the big, thick brush is dreadful. No matter how carefully I apply the product (and I am careful), I get smudges all over my top lid, which I have to clean up with a swab and then apply more shadow and then touch up the mascara. And forget about the lower lashes completely. So instead of like 30-60 seconds, applying this mascara takes 5-6 min. Not worth it, unless you know something about putting on mascara I don't.

This mascara is my very favorite, for one reason: it does not run, at all, not ever. Apparently, the mascara is made without wax, and so adheres to the lashes completely. I have very long lashes, and the lower ones touch my face. My mascara is always a black smudge under my eyes by lunchtime- even watereproof or longlast formulas. But this stuff does not move! It gives OK volume, better if you use two coats, letting the first completely dry between applications. It is also a little dry, since there is no wax, and I wouldn't recommend it for contact lens wearers, it flakes if you touch your eyelashes. But if you want a mascara that stays where you put it, this stuff is gold.

I really like this mascara---no clumping, no smudging, and best yet, is good for sensitive eyes.
