Long, oily roots dry ends, color treated hair type. This made my hair feel like straw. I use high end shampoos, but I was wanting a cheap clarifying type shampoo. The bottle states it helps de-gunk hair, and it was clear like other clarifying shampoos so I figured Id give it a try. It gives a powerful deep cleaning lather, that really did get the build up out of my hair. In the days before washing I had used hair spray, volumizer serum, mousse, shine serum, and hair powder for my oily roots. This shampoo removed every bit of that gunky heavy feel from the build up of those products. When I rinsed my hair it did feel like straw, like it had been extremely stripped, but my conditioner fixed that. Im not sure what kind of review to give it. It did work as a clarifying shampoo, but I imagine anyone with color using this every day, would have stripping. It left my hair feeling parched and dead once I rinsed, but it also gave me fabulous volume because it didnt coat or weigh down my hair.. So Im giving it a 3. Its fantastic for oily scalp/hair, and for deep cleansing of hair products. It does not moisturize at all, it actually de-moisturizes, so its not for every day use. I will use once every 2 weeks as a clarifying shampoo and keep it at that. It smells delicious and fruity, and I love the bright green packaging and easy to open push cap. If you have color treated hair (besides blonde) do not use this, it will surely strip it. It worked for my bleached hair, and gave me lots of volume. I'm also able to go a day longer without shampooing when I use this product, because it clarifies so well, and gets rid of my oily roots.

I have fine oily hair, kind of thin and somewhat straight.
I use this shampoo and conditioner and I love it! I have tried way more than a couple as of lately and I like this one. I feel more body and my hair feels lighter, more balanced. Seems sufficiently moisturizing without weighing hair down. I have sensitive skin and it hasn't seemed to cause a problem with that either.. I give it ten billion stars. The scent reminds me of this tigi shine spray I used to use, I love that about the herbal essences drama clean.

Seconds after rinsing this shampoo out of my hair it feels dry and rubbery. On the bright side, like all Herbal Essences shampoos, the scent stays strong in your hair throughout the day.
This is definately a formula I am less than impressed with.

I love this shampoo. I have to wash my hair everyday because it gets oily super quick. This shampoo isn't harsh on my hair - it gets rid of all the buildup and leaves it soft and healthy. This shampoo smells so nice, it's such a fruity and clean scent. I've finished my secound bottle and going to buy it again once I've finished my dove. Very good value shampoo that you should try if you haven't. :-)

I haven't used this product in about 3 years but when I was using it I did like it.. at the time i had platinum blonde hair right above my shoulders and i straightened it everyday but I used biosilk silk therapy and other products.. so it seemed to clean my hair well and I personally love the scent.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Come clean with my formula, fused with extracts of orange flower & berry tea--a combination of berry extracts & tea extracts--for hair that is renewed, refreshed and ready to go. Get light, lush locks with all the lather, but without all of the gunk. This little soap opera isn't over yet. Try my fresh-headed conditioner.
Use me: work your hair into a lather-frenzy. Rinse and repeat--just for the joy of it.

MY THOUGHTS: This is a review posted on behalf of my boyfriend. He purchased a 300 mL bottle of Herbal Essences Drama Clean shampoo at Wal-Mart for $2.93 CAD to use in between his Nizoral treatments. So far he is satisfied with the results; however, he has noticed that it has left his hair slightly on the dry side.

One of my favorites from the Herbal Essences line. I know this isn't the clarifying one, but still since it said drama clean, I figured I would try out. And at 2 bucks this was a great bargain find. I have pretty thick wavy hair that I straighten or curl it on a daily basis, so I use everything from mouses, hairsprays, serums, heat protectants, waxes and pomades. So I need a really good shampoo that's going to clean my hair but won't dry it out like some clarifying shampoos can. I love this stuff, it cleans and takes away all the nasty product buildup and leaves my hair shiny and squeaky clean. This doesn't dry out my hair, the scent is fabulous and stays in my hair. I've gone through 5 bottles of this shampoo, I'll always use and hopefully they won't discontinue it. Great packing also, no cons about this shampoo. Go buy it.

This is a generally good shampoo, my main beef with it is the smell. I'm not a fan. It's too strong for me, and has an annoyingly undescribable scent... not fruity, not floral, just... a little weird. It definitely clarifies my greasy root/dry end hair, but the ends are still left dry. I plan to keep it on hand for an occasional deep clean, but just can't take the smell every day. I find myself dreading squeezing it out of the bottle - probably not the best sign.

I love this shampoo for daily use! First of all, it smells great and has really cool packaging. It also works well with my hair type.... some shampoos make my hair kinda greasy and this stuff definitely does not. It leaves your hair feeling squeaky clean, without any residue. I for one don't use any product on my hair (mousse, spray, etc) but im sure for people who do, this shampoo would be excellent in stripping your hair of any product left over. I continue to buy this again and again.

I LOVE this shampoo. My hair gets very greasy even without putting products in it and with most shampoos I have to put something in my hair because it gets really poofy when it dries. It's so unmanagable and tends to be on the dry side. With this shampoo my hair is left (literally) squeaky clean, which I love. Combined with the conditioner my hair is super clean, soft, shiny, manageable, fantastic smelling and best of all - I don't have to use any other products!

When combined with the Drama Clean conditioner, this stuff makes my hair look and feel AMAZING. Turns my hair totally soft and incredibly shiny. I don't get that too-clean feeling like others have experienced, just gunk-free hair. Absolutely loooove this stuff, will continue to buy as long as it's made!

I LOVE this shampoo! If you use the conditioner afterwards, your hair feels, looks, and smells fantastic! After I broke my ankle, it was hard for me to shower, so after 3 days (i know, nasty!), without a shower, it made my hair look soooo good. Buy this shampoo, you won't regret it.

In my mind, there are 2 approaches to clarifying shampoo - either use something that strips totally, or trust a less stripping product to clean sufficiently. In my experience, this is the first product to make it into the 2nd category. It definitely cleans my oily hair (conditioner was needed afterwards despite the fact I had skipped a day), yet doesn't turn it into straw. The scent is OK, a very light fresh/pineapple/tea scent - any conditioner or styling product I use covers it, so I don't care much either way. The only thing I don't like about this shampoo and the rest of the brand is that it's difficult/impossible to find Herbal Essences products in economy size bottles up here in Canada - I have long hair, and tend to use lots of product, so I go through a regular bottle much faster than I'd like.

Scent: It doesn't smell fresh right out the bottle, but after it's lathered in your hair and washed out, it smells great.
Cleansing: I don't really use any products in my hair, so I can't say it's super refreshing or deep cleaning ... It did leave my scalp cool the first time I used it.
Overall: I bought this after seeing it in a magazine - Seventeen, one of the girls recommended this for soft, shiny, clean hair. I agree with the shiny and clean part, but my hair doesn't feel soft, but it could just be b/c of the texture itself. Right after I washed it out, my hair felt kind of not smooth but fresh - and my hair seemed to produce less oil (I wash my hair once every other day so it doesn't dry out, but my scalp does get oily)

The scent reminds me of sweettarts for some odd reason. When I first started using it, it did leave my hair feeling "squeaky clean" as someone stated below. Havent been to fond of it lately though. I'm not for sure if I will be repurchasing or not.

One of the best value shampoos out there to clean out all the buildup in my hair. I've used herbal essences a lot, but drama clean is definately one of my favorites. I usually mix and match with a different conditioner though (eg: volume or moisture).

Oh and did I mention the delicious smell. Each shampoo smell like it own orchird.

This gets better as you use it. It works better now than the first couple of times that I used it.

This lathers soft, which is nice, & it definitely cleans my naturally curly, slightly thick hair, but doesn't strip it.. though you do need to follow up with conditioner after using it.

Herbal Essences always has a strong odor, but this smells kinda gross. I've become used to it now, so its not so bad anymore.

Sadly I don't think I'm going to rebuy, but I bought this to clean my hair from softball and it does a good job of that.

When herbal essences reinvented their packaging from the mother hubbard-ish large chunky bottles with pics of herbs and flowers to these new bright cheery bottles i was psyched. Always a faithful follower since the young ripe age of 8, i purchased drama clean about 3 years ago...and i've never turned back...
the new bottles are so much easier to use to grab and squeeze cuz of the skinnier size. It cleans really well, smells amazing (not too empowering though) and when i step out of the shower i feel refreshed and energized. Its wasnt harsh at all when i used it everyday during vball season and with the light conditioner its makes my hair feel clean and healthy. works perfectly with my lazy nonexistent hair styling routine (i pretty much have wash and wear hair and support any product that keeps it that way!) did i mention that its 2.99 CDN?
