this is my hg eye make-up product. i have tried tons of eyeliners and shadows that claim to be long-wearing, waterproof, etc. and nothing (except m.a.c. liquidlast) stays put. i still love liquidlast, but there are days when i don't want the strong line of a liquid liner. plus liquidlast is expensive and dries out quickly. with she-laq i can wear any drugstore brand shadow or liner and it stays put. my only complaint is that because she-laq goes on wet, it sort of blends together the eye make-up (which is not necessarily a bad thing). it comes off easily with lancome bi-facil.

I love this stuff. I only use it when I know I'll be crying (weddings) or dancing or out all night. I put it over my eyeliner and once dry it will not smudge. I don't use over my shadow or mascara as it gets sticky and clumpy. Eyeliner only!!! It is pricey but the bottle lasts forever!!! I use the mascara brush in it to brush out clumps in my mascara. Be careful though, I've spilled two bottles of this stuff and sometimes the cap can stick shut so I clean mine with makeup remover.

Well, first off I want to be clear that I only use this product over eyeliner, mascara, and sometimes a bit on the lips. That said, I am absolutely in love with it. Before this, my liner would ALWAYS smudge and I could never keep a good cat eye in place. I bought this product and now the liner stays put all day, through tears and sweat. It is important to remember to DAB this product on top of your liner and don't brush, otherwise your liner will end up smearing. When done right, the liner will keep it's original shape and density, it just won't move! 30 dollars is a bit pricey, but since it comes with 4 different brushes and you use so little at a time, it's definitely worth it. I accidentally spilled like 1/4th of the bottle when I first got it, and I still have at least 1/4th left after about 10 months of use. Definitely getting it again when I run out.

Okay, if you are having some problems with this product, let me help ya out....First of all, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use this for anything other than liner and mascara. It will make a mess and the BA who sold it to you telling you to use it other ways is a moron. Anyways, you do have to give it time to dry, at least 2 minutes, and use the little brushes that come with the She Laq. It really does give liner and mascara staying power, but DOES NOT make things waterproof, only SMUDGEPROOF. Whoever said waterproof is again, lying to you. This is a nice alternative to waterproof mascara which is really damaging on the lashes, and really does stop my liner from smuding. If you follow what I told you and gave it another try, I am sure you wouldn't hate it like ya do! ;0)

Thanks goodness I tried it on in the store, otherwise it would've been a BIG waste of money! The only thing that it waterproofed was my lip color, but only temporarily. When I used it on my eyes, it felt like paint stripper and I couldn't open them for about 5 minutes. I tried it on other places on my face, too. On my cheeks, they got all shiny from it, and I ended up looking like I was trying to be a doll or clown. On my lips it lasted for half an hour or so, and halfway through my drink at the mall I was at, but it made my lips hard to move.
It is also expensive and the packaging and applying method are annoying. I might try to use this again in the future, when I'm better with makeup and application, but as of now will definitely NOT BUY.

i was really excitied to buy this product when i saw it in a magazine that said this would be the perfect waterproof primer for swimming. unfortunatly it is a horrible product. if u want to use it under conceler on a blemish it doesnt work. this product has to be used on top of what u are trying to make waterproof, so anything that is under it will come off because the stuff is wet. the only good thing for this product would be to use it as a liquid eyeliner. i will not buy it again because there is no point to this product

First, I would buy this again, but doubt I'd ever have to because a little goes such a long way.
Okay...the product...this is very nice and I use it over my eyeliner, even when I tightline. I also use it over my mascara. I've used it a little over my eyebrow powder, but be careful if you do that, because it can make your eyebrows look glossy...and thus, quite artificial. Overall, a nice product.

I love this product but I can't believe how much the price has gone up. When I first purchased she laq it was only $20, now it's $30! Argh. For me, it lasts for a very long time. I apply my e/s first, then apply she laq over it and keep my eyes shut for awhile until I can feel that the liquid is dry and I'm all set. Eye shadow will not budge for the whole day. Even though I love this product I had to resort to trying other things bc $30 is way too expensive for me. Try UDPP, or If you really like she laq try Make Up Forever's Eye Seal it's only $20 and basically the same thing.

well, I just finished my first bottle of this and have had it for about 2 years so the price is worth it if your are using it for a specific place.I wear thick top eyeliner that usually smudges so I put my eyeliner and have 1 or 2 coats of this over it and it stays ALL day.I agree with some of the other reviews that it can get hard to open but I found if u wipe the top every few days it fixes the problem.Def will buy again.

I feel that price is a rip off! I was going to by this product till I started reading the ingredients list. I though I had heard Acrylates/Octylacylamide Copolymer before and started to rummage through my train case and my Cinema Secrets Super Sealer had the exact same ingredients!
Benefit She Laq $28
Ingredients: Water, SD Alcohol 40-B, Acrylates/Octylacylamide Copolymer, Triethanolamine, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea.
Cinema Secrets Super Sealer (sweat stopper!) $9
Ingredients: SDA-40, water, acrylates/octylacrylamide copolymer, thriethanolomine, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben.
It comes in a spray bottle version 2.0 fl and in a eye dropper version Eyeliner Sealer .5 oz that has less water and alcohol in it, basically a concentrated version of the spray.
Both products work Exactly the same and work really well, so for the price difference you be the judge.

I'm re-writing this since it was about 5 in the morning when I wrote my first review on it.
This stuff isn't bad, and I can see how useful it is for ANYTHING - down to applying glitter. I was originally being a wee bit paranoid and using a smaller bottle exclusively for my lips, but then poured it back into the blue bottle because I felt that was being wasteful, and since this stuff contains alcohol, and I'm using it just for my lips, germs shouldn't be an issue. I find the brush inside the bottle is the best, and I've been using that on my lipstick. I apply a first coat, let dry, then apply another to make sure I didn't miss anything. If you tend to get lipstick on the inside of your lips (i.e, in your mouth-ish) this wont work on that, it'll still come off, but on your lips itself, the part everyone sees, your lippy should stay on all day. I find that smiling or laughing causes this stuff to crack up the color, so I've been keeping my mouth wide open and smiling during the time that I let it dry/apply it, that way this shouldn't pose as a problem. I then apply a gloss (I hate gloss, but prefer moist lips over sticky, she laq lips), specifically the clear coat refill for the revlon colorstay lipsticks. I've eaten and drank neatly and this stuff has stayed. I don't expect to eat a fat sandwhich without losing my lipstick; however... Also, oily foods such as pizza will destroy your lipstick... so if you know you'll be eating pizza (pasta is fine since you can scoop that in neatly with your fork lol) don't wear this... but on a day out, partying, drinking, going to school while inserting coffee cup every five seconds... you'll be fine. I like this at work since now I can drink my water without seeing an ugly ring around my poland spring bottle.
The bottle gets hard to open, but I guess thats a trade off between good product but crappy packaging.
EDIT. I find its the lipgloss im wearing that causes the lippy to 'split' or 'peel.' I've since been wearing she-laq on my lips (two coats) without anything on top. It feels a little sticky at first but I get used too it, and know my lips are there. I just came home from chinese food with my dad and my lips were PERFECT. and I was stuffing my pie hole with big fluffy pork buns. I'm thinking eventually to try another, less gooey gloss to put over this - such as the refill for the maxfactor/cover girl long wear lipcolors.. I remember those not being sticky in anyway. I'll save the revlon top coat for my Stainiac.

I mostly use this to keep my eyebrow powder from smudging and smearing. She Laq does the job, I can now lean on my BF's shoulder during a movie without worrying about losing half an eyebrow when I leave the theatre. I occasionally use this to keep pencil liner in place in the rare event that I use pencil liner (I'm a liquid liner kind of gal).
I've never tried it on my eyelashes or lips (I figure it would leave a rather uncomfortable, rubbery feeling on my mouth). It's good for what I do use it for and if my She Laq ever runs out, I'd probably purchase it again.
*UPDATE* I LOVE She Laq. I give it 5 lippies. But would I buy it again? NEVER! Guess what? She Laq is actually *GASP* hairspray! Another MakeupAlley user filled me in on the awful truth. (thanks abby10) So after using up my $30 bottle of She Laq, I went to Walgreens today and purchased a big bottle of non-aerosol, generic hairspray for $1. It's EXACTLY the same and it's going to last me for years. Boy do I feel like a sucker.

I haven't used this on lips, but it's great on my eyes. It's a bit tricky to apply, especially on top of your eyeliner. You have to really make sure to keep your eyes closed and still so that it can dry well. But with the proper application and drying time, this baby keeps any eyeliner and mascara on the entire day without the dreaded panda eyes.
My only complaint is that it's quite a hassle when you're in a hurry because it's another thing you have to do on a hectic morning.
Tip: Always wash your brushes after every application or the product will make them stiff and hardened. And try not to double dip because you'll stain up the entire bottle.

This is a great product. I tried it on my eyes and lips. It really does what it claims to do. Your m/u will stay put! I have now discovered MAC's pro longwear clear coat ...works great and it's more convenient because it's already attached to my gloss =)

I have those eyelids that are kind of droopy and tend to just hang out where my eyeliner is. So throughout the day I kept noticing my right eyelid becoming dark on the top while my liner just seemed to disappear. This really did the trick. Step one apply liner. Step two, dip your brush into she-laq and get of the extras on the side.. exactly how you would with a bottle of nail polish. Step three, apply thin thin THIN layer over liner and close eyes. Step four fan or blow dry for about 30 seconds.. or until dry. Voila! Liner set! Don't get this IN your eyes, obviously it will burn. This is seriously amazing!

I am a slave to this product, despite some major flaws that I'll detail below. But first, the perks:
I have oily eyelids, and they cover a pair of large, deep-set eyes. It's never a question of IF makeup will smudge, disappear, or go a-wandering, it's WHEN. For everyday makeup, Urban Decay's Primer Potion is just the ticket. However, for fancy makeup, the kind that involves careful, layered applications of interesting liners, some of them glittering, I need something more. And this is where She-laq excels.
A little dab'll do you! Really, just the thinnest layer, the tiniest amound, will do the trick. Too much and you risk looking like you've applied clear nail polish to your lids, or under them. Not a good look. I've never managed to have this work with shadows, but with any liners, and with any form of glitter, this stuff is aces. I used to use this with mascara, too, before I discovered my prized Clarins Mascara Fix.
Now, the down sides...
1. If it gets into your eyes, and this is easy to accomplish, it'll probably burn. If you then close your eyes before the stuff is dry, you could get leakage from the still-wet She-laq and makeup combo, and once that combo dries, good luck removing it from where you don't want it to be.
2. The bottle is terrible. I have never managed to actually use a bottle til the stuff is gone. It's prone to tipping over, and even if that doesn't happen, it's got a wide mouth, so the product inside thickens with each exposure to air.
3. It's expensive for what it is, especially since I never get to use it all. On the other hand, a little bit does go a long way.
4. Over-application makes a huge mess. Seriously -- use a liiittle bit. You'll have a better shot of liking what She-laq does.

I think this is a great product. Maybe it doesn't hold off running eyeliner 100% - but until I find a product that actually does, I give this 5 lippies because the last 2 days I've used this have been dramatically better than without it.
It may seem a little pricey - but this will last forever!!! And honestly, if you buy it somewhere with a good return policy - there is no harm in trying it. I personally think it is really worth it!
