I purchased this product from a spa a few years ago after getting a "face mapping" facial. The product feels nice during application, but after two weeks I developed painful pimples on my cheeks (which had otherwise been clear). Not a good choice for oily or acneic skin.

I am so sad this contains Octyl Methoxycinnamate which is a chemical sunscreen ingredient & irritates my skin (I can only use zinc or t.d. for sunscreen). Otherwise this face moisturizer is perfect for my dehydrated skin. I've been sampling this for the past few days and while it gives me just the right amt. of moisture and even a glow to my face, it's starting to irritate me. If I remember right, many of their face moist. contain this ingredient.

This is the best moisturiser for my skin, its fragrance free and water based, perfect for oily skins.
I never realised before until now that I actually used to break out from the fragrance in the high end facial products eg Chanel, Guerlain, Dior and etc
dont like the tube packaging prefer a pump dispenser for more hygenic purposes

Update I have been using dermalogica for the past 3 years and noticed that its not really doing anything for my skin but irritating it, it contains a lot of parabens and other chemicals which are not particularly great for your skin. I switched to Environ and rosehip oil recently and my skin is just full of glow and radiance, love it

I have been using this product for about 8-10 weeks now. At first I loved it. It's light and non greasy, which is great for me as I don't like heavy moisturisers. However over the last couple of weeks it has really started to sting when I apply it. I have no idea why. I am also using the Special Cleansing Gel and find that after I cleanse and dry my face it is super dry and red. I then apply the Active Moist Moisturiser and it stings my eyelids and makes my T Zone red and burn. I might have to go back to the Skin Smoothing Cream. That was great although a lot heavier than the Active Moist. I'm really disappointed that this has happened. I thought I had finally found my HG of facial products.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! I have been using it for years and I can't change! Its light and NON GREASY so I do not break out but it keeps me moisturized. And I have combination skin as well as living in a humid climate. Run to the store and buy this, the price might scare you at first but it lasts FOR sooo long so it is worth it. During the day I add the Dermalogica sunbooster to it for protection and it works great :-)

I didnt like this. for something with a name like 'Active Moist' you would think it would keep your skin hydrated. I dont have dry skin, and i still felt like my skin was dry after using it. I wanted a light-weight lotion that would still moisturise - this one doesnt. I do like the ingredients, but for the hefty price (ALL of dermalogicas products are overpriced) this was not worth it. Search elsewhere if you want something more moisturising, although may be good if you have very oily skin

It's good on a winter time I must say because it is a bit on the oily side, but it actually absorbs in quite some time.

But I used this when I was 14, and was suffering from terrible oil and shine. And this only oiled me up more.

It has an alright smell, but sometimes when I try to remember the smell, my stomach just turns upside down, I don't know why.

I would love to use it now if I've got a chance. :) It will probably be good to my kind of dried skin. :)

For anyone with combination-to-oily skin, I think this would be so perfect. I find this to be really moisturizing for my face in general. But on try patches (around my neck), it would moisturize it at first, but when the product sinks in, my skin would still be flaky.
It does leave my skin with a bit of an oily-film if I apply too much. But overall, I really like it for an oil-free moisturizer.
It probably doesn't contain this, but it feels almost like there's glycerin in it? Is it called glycerin? Ya know, the stuff Glysomed Hand Cream has. That's what it feels like. A silky, smooth film over the skin. It's a little bit pricy tho.

Age: 19-24   Skin: Combination, Olive, Neutral   Hair: Brunette, Straight, Fine   Eyes: Hazel

My HG moisturiser...I have combo/oily/sensitive skin and recently did a complete skincare overhaul to cope with my newly sensitive&spot prone skin. This was advised to me when I had my face mapped at a Dermalogica booth, as I'd asked for an oil-free moisturiser which wouldn't overload my face but would still give me enough moisture to look after my skin. I use this at night, and use an oil-free moisturising fluid in the am to prep my skin for makeup. The packaging is sleek and the squeezy tube means that not too much product comes out. This product has totally rehydrated my face, taken care of the sensitive, dry red patches I had on my cheeks and hasn't broken me out. It's also the only moisturiser both lightweight enough to not turn me into an oily mess, whilst also moisturising extremely dry areas of my face such as inbetween my eyebrows. I won't be changing moisturiser any time soon!

The downsides: it's expensive, though a little goes a long long way, and the smell isn't as nice as it could be.

Since I don't wash my face with a cleanser in the mornings I was hoping this could function as a daytime moisturizer (even thought my skin isn't exactly oily). But this product doesn't provide any moisture at all, on the contrary, it's rather de-moisturizing. The sticky formula also makes it impossible to apply foundation over it. And you know what, even though everything is "natural", like dermalogica claims, i'm rather sceptical about the loooooong list of ingredients.

I love Dermalogica cleanser and mask but I hate their moisturiser. I've used this but this is really not for me. It doesn't absorb well and I look like an oil slick even though it was winter. It doesn't give me any breakout but an oil face is a big NO NO.

I've been using this for about a month and although I haven't seen any significant changes, it hasn't broken me out or anything. Its quite moisturising and I like the fact that its lightweight, non-sticky and non-greasy. Since I've been using this in the winter, its not quite as moisturising as I'd like it to be but it works quite well. I would probably repurchase this again but I'll wait and see how it goes.

I used this product for a couple of weeks or so and feel that I have been breaking out ever since. It hasn't done me any favours at all but others may find it is good enough for them. I personally wouldn't buy this product again (considering the cost and the side effects) but I think people should ask for samples first and see how it goes for first 1-2weeks.

My sister swears by this stuff, but I find that it isn't moisturizing enough for me, and it stings when I apply it. I turn a bit red sometimes too. It's strange because I think it really is gentle, just not gentle enough for my kind of sensitive skin.

I don't know exactly how I feel about this moisturizer...I really like the silkiness and how smooth it makes my face feel. I have combination skin and I was worried that it is not enough moisture for my cheeks but too much for my oily T-zone. Overall, I really like how light it is and it does feel like just enough moisture to balance for my combo skin. I have seen a reduction in blemishes but I don't know how much of it is due to this moisturizer or the combination of all the dermalogica set. Perhaps my only drawback is that I don't know if it is worth the price. I think there are comparable moisturizers out there for much cheaper.

I got a sample of this from Ulta & have been using it since. Its pretty good on my dry face, even during the winter. But i learned not to use this after a peel/mask,the painful way! I didn't realize it had alcohol in it till after i put it on & it started to burn like hell. So this is pretty good as long as i don't use it after i use my Avon Napa Valley peel pads.

This is now my HG moisturizer. Let me tell you why:

I have very fair, acne prone skin. And even though my skin remained clear with the occasional blemish or two, I still had discoloration on my chin and my cheeks. My chin had a few red/slightly brown spots from blemishes from the past (or even a few days before) that never seems to leave. My cheeks had redness - not the 'flushed' kind, but the vein-ey kind - I never really understood it. So here I am buying all sorts of 'lightening/brightening' products when all along, I was totally overlooking the real problem.

I had tried Active Moist through a sample I received from a swap. It felt lightweight going on and it provided *just* enough moisture for my normal-dry skin. It didn't seem to irritate my skin at all - however with the small sample I got I couldn't stick with it very long to know whether I really liked it or not. Recently, I've tried a La Roche Posay Vit C Moisturizer and I broke out COMPLETELY! I broke out like never before - and I was so desperate, I just decided to try Dermalogica since it's a brand a lot of Dermatologists recommend.

I tried it and BAM! It worked magic on my skin. My blemishes all vanished that week and what was more amazing was all "vein-ey" redness on my cheeks completely vanished. My chin's discoloration also disappeared. I honestly haven't seen my skin looking this good since before I've hit puberty! Lol! This provides just the right moisture to my skin without breaking it out, and calming it down. It spreads easily across your face and you really don't need much. One weird thing I've noticed though, is that although it feels lightweight spreading across my face and completely soft and smooth when it has dried - is that *while* it's drying it feels a TAD bit greasy (like sunscreen?). I don't know - maybe it's just me? It isn't oily at all though - and it isn't that big of a deal since it dries quickly. Overall - I highly recommend as a basic moisturizer. You still need other serums/treatments to deal with anti-again, ect. And also - the price. It's pretty steep, but since you need so little (since it spreads so easily), it'll be sure to last.

This is a great moisturizer! It does not feel heavy or greasy, yet really seems to restore moisture to the face, even in the winter months. Does not cause breakouts or clog pores (and I have very acne prone skin).
