I guess I am one of the lucky ones with this product! I have extremely thick, curly and dry hair which just naturally can't be that shiny. So I decided to try this at-home glosser since I figured it wouldn't hurt my salon color and best-case might help my hair reflect a little more light. Worked great on both counts! It also made my hair extremely soft which for me is great but I can see where it could almost be too soft on someone whose hair is straight/manageable to start with. The glossing for me is not major, just a little boost, but I can see a difference and I'm quite pleased. For $8.49, definitely worth its price in my opinion. Can't comment on longevity as I just used it today. :) If you have curly hair and would like a little shine boost I definitely recommend this product!

I will add that I can see where this product could be a little intimidating for those who have never colored their hair, especially those who have never colored their hair at home. I did at-home coloring for YEARS until finding a colorist I love. Using this product is basically exactly the same as coloring your hair at home -- you put on the provided gloves, mix the chemicals yourself, apply, wait, rinse, condition -- and it has the same chemical smell. If the idea of "coloring" your hair at home frightens you, definitely think twice before buying this, not because it's going to color your hair, but because you may just not be comfortable doing what you have to do to use the product.

I was excited about the opportunity to make my hair shinier when I bought this. My hair's a dark brown and i think the color i got was Cappuccino or something Coffee-y. It didn't change the base color of my hair at all and the "shine" just made my hair redish. :(

My expectations were high I have to admit.
I was told you get results that are very compatible with salon treatment worth hundreds of dollars.
Also it had "Best of ALLURE " rec's to back it up.
Well, it did absolutely nothing for my hair, zero, zilch.
Total waste of $ & time.
It comes with a great after-color conditioner but that's about all.
I'm Shine Unhappy.

Nothing new to add.....my hair feels minimally softer but shine-wise - I don't see any difference. Not worth the time or money.

I got this on sale today. It did make my hair super soft but almost too soft to style. I'm hoping that I don't have brassiness tomorrow! My hair seems a tad bit shinier but only because I'm looking for it. I dout anyone would notice. Will not purchase again.

I just put this product in my hair and dried it and it looks absolutely fabulous. It is very shiny, soft and manageable. I was a little worried after reading the reviews and felt I was taking a risk in that I am going out tonight and reuniting with someone I have not seen since high school but I am really glad that I did it. I will buy it again. Of course, I cannot yet comment on the longevity of it, etc.

i bought this in hopes of making my hair shinier. unfortunately it ended up lightining my hair. at first i thought it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, but then my sister came in and she confirmed it. it made my medium-dark brown hair a bit brassy and orange. and there was no shine. it may work on blonds? but i will never buy again.

Great product, I'm very surprised at the number of negative reviews (especially the first few ones- perhaps they've changed the formula since they initially introduced it?)- as I'm pretty happy with it. My long, thick, dark brown hair has been professionally highlighted and redyed to it's original color several times within the past three years, and has also undergone professional shine treatments. This product doesn't damage my color (it might be half a shade lighter, but I find it looks even better this way!) or the texture. It leaves your hair especially soft and smooth, and I've found this treatment is just as great as what I have done professionally. If your hair is already fried or heavily processed by dyes and chemicals, this product probably isn't for you. But if your hair is in already great shape and is fairly strong, you'll end up with soft, shiny hair like I did. The price is very reasonable- for $8.00, you can't go wrong.

I had really high hopes for this product, but it didn't do anything for my hair. I may have noticed a little bit of shine for a day or two after applying. This was the first at-home shine treatment I've used and I don't color my hair, so mixing all of those chemicals and puting it on my hair was a little scary. I wouldn't buy it again, I'm going to break down and try Kerastase products.

Used this a week ago exactly as directed, it made my hair look DULL. I had to jump into the shower, shampoo and condition and then apply moisture-shine products, before going out. Was a waste of money and time. From now on I'm sticking with semi permanent colors and leave-in treatments, which work a helluva lot better for me.

This product is pretty good for my fine blonde hair. Adds some nice shine; easy to use. Not a complete overhaul, but a small difference. Could stand to smell better, and I wish Natural Instincts came in some lighter blonde shades than Sunflower which is still too dark for me. I got stuck using clear, but I like it.

i color my hair and straighten it occasionaly so at times my hair can look a little lack luster - but putting shine serum in my finely textured hair just makes it look stringy. i gave up untill i saw "shine happy" its perfect b/c its a treatment - not like a product that leaves build up. people pay big $$$ to get this same treatment done at salons. not me!

I always get compliments on how shiny my hair looks after i use this! great to use before a big date ;)

this product makes my hair more vibrant and i actually have to dye it less so im kinda shocked at all the low reviews. i followed the directions and didn't use it on cleanly washed hair so maybe thats why it worked good for me. lets face it, if the hair is damaged or over processed you may just need a good hair cut bc at this point the follicle cannot be penatrated w/ this treatment or saved with any miracle product.

for reference i have deep auburn hair (thanks to a colorist) and i have had no problems with this product tampering with the color other than enhancing its vibrancy.

I was 30 minutes older and 10 dollars poorer after this product. It did nothing for my hair. Well, it kinda made it smell good...but I can get that with shampoo.

I read such terrible reviews so I was so scared to put it on my head after I bought it. Well my hair is brown with blond highlights. My hair is fine but I have a lot of it. It is straight and it gets a little fizzy or dry looking and definetly dull from the processing and hairspray. Let me stay that this is no BS. When I walking into work two people thought I did something to my hair they couldn't tell what exactly it was. When I showed up to the new year party the first compliments I recieved was your hair looks great. I could have done a commercial for this product that day. Now I am not sure it worked on my hair type and not others but this one day of hair compliments made me feel like a star. I pay top dollar to get a double process of color and process. I don't care about all this peroxide stuff. It makes your hair brighter and it must clean the residue off or something because it looks enhanced. Don't buy this product if your the girl that goes into a salon with a picture of Britney Spears and wants to look like her when you know for sure you look like Queen Latifa. It ain't gonna happen but if you are looking for an improvement. This stuff is better than Selophane.

Don't buy this. It did nothing for my hair. No more shine, nothing more but my hair lighter..which is not why I bought this initially...I had to use another conditioner and shampoo them, then I used a serum to get some shine and health back into my hair...DO NOT BUY...NEVER..EVER
Update: It damaged my hair more than I thought it did. I have relaxed hair so I noticed broken hair at my nape and crown. I have like 1 inch of hair left...my hair was shoulder length and it is now ear length in some parts!:(

My hair is darker (6), and it lifted color, making it look more orange (yuck!). I was trying to grow out my highlights, but I had to go to the salon for a color job. Was not pleased with this product and will not buy again.

Don't buy!! I wish i would have read the reviews before i bought this! Everyone is right that it changes hair color to a brassy unatrual hue and there is no noticable change in shine. I had to buy Clairol Natural Instincts Brass Free Brunettes in Light Brunette to take out the brassiness left behind. That stuff works great!!

As some of the other reviewers have said, this did NOTHING for shine on my hair. If I wanted shine I would have been better off getting the dye, which seems a little beside the point.
My hair felt gummy and stringy...so much so that I actually re-rinsed it thinking I might not have done enough rinsing to begin with. I don't recommend this at all and I'm pretty disappointed because I had waited for years for something like this to come out.

i tried this on my sister's natural medium ash brown hair. this did not do anything to make her hair shinier. it looked exactly the same when we were done, but it felt worse. i suppose it's good that it didn't lighten her hair at all, but i am definitely not purchasing this again to use on her hair and i won't buy it to use it myself either.
