i'm a huge fan of all la roche posay products - mostly because they do exactly what they say they'll do - i particularly love the effaclar range - i credit it with clearing my very bad acne which i should be done with already now that i'm 21! i just got this new addition to the effaclar range last week. it feels like silk when you apply and mixes very well with foundation to give a lighter appearance to my daytime look. i went to a gig on friday night and was expecting big things from this moisturiser - i wanted to come back to the house looking as non shiny as i did when i left - and to a certain extent active matt workes very well - but to be honest if you have a shiny t zone all you can to is try to control it not eradicate it - and i think this moisturiser does that. the SA was very kind when i showed interest in this product - explaining that essentially it is the same as effaclar k just without the micro-exfoliant. i will keep using effaclar k but i love the sensation of active moist and so will probably use it in the morning and effaclar k at night

I decided to try this due to a recommendation from a friend. Whilst this does an OK job in controlling oil for the day, i do not find it's worth the price...$26CAD for 40ml. i have only used this twice (as a makeup base) so maybe with continued use the results will be greater (will update if this changes). I have normal/combo/dry skin and in the summertime it tends to get more oily, so i needed something to mattify and control the oil throughout the day. This is only an OK product, wouldn't repurchase and I for one did NOT like the smell of this lotion....cucumbers? yes! but i don't care for that smell.

UPDATE: Upping this to a 4 since it does do pretty well as a makeup base as far as controlling oil. Since i use a facial sunblock (SPF 30) underneathe as well it def reduces the look of a shiney face =)

I really LOVE the Effaclar line (esp. effaclar k for my acne-prone, combo skin), so I thought this might be a good moisturizer for my bp thirsty skin. Thankfully I received a sample of this from a lovely Shoppers cosmetician, because this was a disapointment. I tried this twice before applying makeup and it FLAKED right off!!! When I wore it alone, it didn't really matify my skin nor was it very moisturizing (probably good for summer). My skin was left shiny and any dry patches were still-- dry! It's a below average product.

good mattifying moisturiser! i use it to control the oil on my face and it's really good!
i used it as a makeup base and it helps my face to remain oil and shine free for the entire day...
must use a sunblock on top of this tho..one additional step..sigh..

just to add i've repurchase again cos after not having it for a few days, my face was like a frying pan....so it helps in controlling oil production! :)

It is just an ok product IMO. It did a decent job at matifying my combo, acne prone skin most of the day, but I didn`t see much of a moisturizing effect. In fact, sometimes it made my cheeks feel dry. Great smell & pump bottle though.

I previously wrote a comment that I did not like this moisturizer at all. Recently, tried it again as I got a sample from the SA for buying the sunblock and thermal water from them. I have got to say this time round, I am impressed with the results. The last time I used it, I was having very oily face, with big cystic acne. Now, I have alot of clog pores and uneven skin texture. Amazingly, it made my clog pores dissapear and made my pimples dried up faster juz by one application. Plus surprisingly, I didn't had oily face. Will buy it again after I finished the sample. Perhaps, it works better for skin that are mild acne prone with lotsa clog pores.

It does actually get rid of most of the shine for my combo skin but doesn't do much for the pimples. I like the smell too mmm..cucumbers.

I expected this moisturizer to be much more matifying, so I was a bit disappointed. It is however very light and smells wonderfully of fresh cucumbers. Would be good for spring and autumn as it is maybe a bit too much for extreme heat and definitely not enough for a harsh winter (I live in Madrid, Spain where it's extemely hot in the summer and rather cold in the winter, but it hardly ever rains!!!). Loved the pump, a definite improvement!!

This product is good if you want subtle shine control. If you have a really greasy face this is not for you. This is a good product because it mositurizes and wont cause future breakouts.
