Despite its scary name, this is a beautiful, mostly charcoal/barely hunter green shade that brings out the color in my blue-gray-green eyes. I don't find it shiny at all, and it lasts well all day. My first but definitely not my last MAC pencil purchase!

Tarnish is a great blackened green liner- definitely not for you if you're looking for something that is noticeably green, but it's a nice change from the usual black or brown. i usually wear this with Greensmoke for a smokey eye (it's hard to do a natural look with deep greens!)- i must admit, i don't wear this all that often because i generally wear it for more of a night time/going out look, but it's a really unique, pretty colour & i do receive compliments on it when i wear it, so i will repurchase if i ever use it up.

I love this!! It's a really soft and pigmented black with a hint of green and subtle green shimmer. I love wearing it with MAC Greensmoke and Humid eye shadows. I think it'd also look great with purple/plum and copper eye shadows. I will buy this again.

More black than green, this is a fab product. Lovely shimmer, easily blendable. My favourite eye kohl after Teddy.

I purchased this Eye Kohl a few days ago, and have been wearing it since! Tarnish is a dark green with subtle shimmer. It is easy to apply in a thin line, and has good staying power on me. I also like that this is really easy to smudge. I have been wearing it with Fiction eye shadow, and it really brings out my hazel eyes! I will definetly repurchase this, because it already is a staple for me!

A great alternative to black. It is a deep metallic black-green khol which I use to line the inner rim without any irritation (I wear contacts). Lasting power is fine and if you smudge it the glitter will show up more. Soft consistency therefore will not drag or scratch.

Love love love Tarnish! It's a dark, dark green. Looks amazing with brown eyes! Nice for smudging (unfortunately, they smudge even if you don't want them to.)

OH MY GOSH! I love this liner...I've been on the hunt for my HG in liners and I believe I've found it.
It goes on smoothly and evenly and you can smudge in nicely. I would recommend this to anyone and now I'm going to get them in every color.
I did take off one lipey only because it's $13 US..a bit pricey for a pencil liner, but I'd still repurchase!

I love this color! its a blackened shimmery green that looks fabulous on my brown eyes. i'm a MAC C3 and this color just makes my eyes pop...it's not too bright but one can still tell that it has a green tinge to it...definately a great change from the regular black or brown eyeliners...it is expensive at $15.50 CDN but i couldn't find a texture and color like this among all the low ends...it doesn't tug/drag at all and the kohl lasts all day on my oily lids but not on the inner rims (powerpoints are better for that).

My first and one of my favorite MAC eye kohls. Deep black with jade green iridescence. Not glaringly obvious, just subtle. I tried just about every eyelining pencil at the drugstore before stepping up to MAC and I'm glad I did because there really is no turning back for me.

all, right, all right, I take back all the nasty things I said about this eyeliner. The first time I tried it, the SA applied it to my entire eye socket, making me look like an extra from Dawn of the Dead. But after re-reading how flattering it is to hazel-eyed girls, I broken down and swapped for it. and I am glad I did. It might look like black but it is not as harsh and it does brighten my muddy greenish brown eyes. Unfortunatly it does not last that long. I applied it at 7:30 AM and by 1:30 AM, it was almost gone on my bottom lid. Oh well. until BB makes this color in the gel ink, I will just have to use Tarnish.

This is an amazing liner. It has good staying power (oily lids) and is a gorgeous color. Its a blackened forest green (with green shimmer) and when you put it on a smudge a LITTLE bit it just has this fabulous exotic shimmery black green look. It makes my eyes brighter and intesifies the outer edges of them. I am a PPP neutral cool w/ dark brown hair and Brown/Hazel eyes. People please buy this it's amazing

This is just OK. I like the color and it lasts a long time, but the application is inconsistent. I just can't get it to go on very smoothly and it just seems too soft. Without fail, I have to use a smudger to even this liner out once applied. It's not that I really mind, but I just expected more from a MAC liner.

I love this eye kohl endlessly. That said, it smudges. However, it is the way of kohl to smudge, and it's a beautiful colour with my dark green eyes. Go Tarnish go.

Tarnish is an amazing black-green! When you smudge it the green comes out even more, it makes my hazel eyes pop! It especially looks awesome with silly goose and embark e/s!

Oh. My. God. Is all I can say when I'm wearing this. Why didn't anyone tell me sooner that if I wore a color like this, my eyes would look take on a gorgeous blue-green hue??? (they're normally dark blue with a hint of grey) Tarnish is the ultimate liner for perfecting the elusive green smokey eye. It blends like a dream, stays put all day, and smudges perfectly to make a lovely smokey look. I honestly cannot complain. I was confused about how to wear it at first, since it seemed almost too blackened, as I wanted it to be more visibly green. But now I realize the genius behind Tarnish's color. If you smudge it, the green shimmer emerges ever so slightly, yet remains dark enough to really line the eye. I like to wear Tarnish with MAC Honesty as a wash, w/ Greensmoke in the crease and outer corners, with a little Bronze in the outer corners, as well. This makes the most incredible, sexy but soft, smokey green eye. A RAVE from me for Tarnish!

MAC calls this a blackened green, and that's dead on. Looks black if you use it for a fine, thin line... but smudge and the green comes right out. A beautiful deep forest green.

LOL Well, this started off as a "tug of war" with the MAC MA. She insisted I try this color, and I insisted I would ONLY if I decided I wanted to look like a fly! For that is what the color reminded me of when I applied it to my hand. It's a black color with a green iridescence. Just like a fly's eyes (don't ask how I know what a fly's eyes look like).

After much bantering back and forth, I allowed the MAC MA to apply the scary looking pencil to my lash line, and omgosh--I fell in love! The color is awesome. It goes on looking "black with a special punch". You don't notice the green iridescence unless you are under the lights, or in sunlight. Yet, you notice a "difference" from the regular black liner. It actually makes my hazel eyes look more "green".

The color looks very pretty whether applied starkly, or smudged (shows up more green this way). I've paired this liner with burgundy, pink and even smokey green shadows. The effect is gorgeous. BTW, I am olive complexioned. I don't know how this would do on a PPP with fair hair.

I really love this eyeliner. I always, always used to wear only brown eyeliner, but this one is so much fun. It actually really just looks black on me, but I like to know that it's actually really packed in green shimmer. I think it probably shows up in certain lights, but I'm not always staring at myself, so I can't tell. The eye kohls in general are really wonderful. They don't smear on me or make a mess, even though I have very very teary messy eyes. It goes on really smoothly and easily. It's a bit soft, but I guess that's the point. I think it's such a beautiful, complex color. Love!

This is my new "black" eyeliner. As other reviewers have noted, it is mostly black with some deep green shimmer, and it's absolutely lovely. It lends all the impact of strong liner without being strictly black, which I find very flattening and not at all pretty. Same excellent quality as all MAC products (except the benighted mascara). I would buy this again, but the pencil is enormously long, and I never finish anything. :)
