To each his own. Personally, I detest Mineral Veil. It's like setting my foundation with sand. It's heavy, coarse, gritty, over-drying. Overall: awful.

And the mineral foundation is just as bad. Makes my face look like a walnut, which in spite of my age, is NOT. Shows every pore, every line, even the ones I don't yet have.

I love BE lip/eye prods and the blushes are not bad. But the mineral fdt. and the mineral veil are poison to me. They don't mattify my oily skin. They simply overdry it. Big difference.

This is my very favorite setting powder! Somehow this manages to lock in my makeup all day and I barely have to touch up. This stuff is seriously amazing! Plus it lasts forever - I'm still on the smaller sized one that I got in the get started kit over a year ago!

I liked how nice my skin looked (the first day) when I used this as a setting powder, but after that I got cystic acne! I threw it out. After about two weeks or so my skin cleared up. Then I found out from Beautypedia that this stuff contains cornstarch which basically feeds the acne causing bacteria on the skin. Ladies with acne prone skin beware!

I don't care for the Mineral Veil, it just doesn't do much for me. My skin is oily and for me, this makes it even more oily very quickly! I really like BM matte foundation and use that daily, but for me the veil is a waste of money. It can look chalky/white also.

So far I am really liking this. This is my first BE purchase and it does a good job at controlling oil (which says a lot because I am VERY oily) and the finish is beautiful. I agree with the other reviewers that this can look very chalky if you don't use a light hand. Less is more with this.

EDIT: I took off one lippie because I'm finding this to be pretty average. Very mediocre. Not horrible but nothing to rave about. Being very oily, throughout the day, this doesn't control *that well* and slightly altered the color of my foundation. I'm definitely going to stick with completely translucent powders. Still on the hunt for a talc free powder to replace my beloved Ben Nye neutral set.

This did nothing.. It is little too light for me to wear and on top of BE foundation (whick is matte already) this gives even more matte, un-natural look. Also it has corn starch in it, so I will not be using this. I got it ion my BE Starter Kit.

I don't think this product gives the "airbrushed" look it's touted to achieve, but I agree that it does keep makeup in place. I agree with other reviewers that LESS is MORE with this powder, and that too much can result in a chalky application. I actually prefer to set my makeup with MAC mineralize skinfinish, anyway, but when I do use this powder I like to spray it with a bit of Fix+ to eliminate any powdery finish.

Having said all that, I LOVE this product for setting my under-eye concealer. It doesn't settle into fine lines and the slightly pinky hue helps brighten my eyes (especially since I use a yellow-based concealer...this kind of warms it up!). I use a fluffy 224 brush, pick up a TINY bit of product, and use a light hand to dust it over my concealer. The result is that my coverage stays in place for the day - hoorah! It also tames any oiliness, which is great.

For an all-over finishing powder, I think there are better products out there - but this is a decent option. I'll continue to repurchase it for my use on my eyes.

This is a good, lightweight powder for those with oily skin that do not break out. Be warned that anything with corn starch can actually feed the bacteria that causes acne and make it worse.

With mineral veil, it does help to conceal some pores, lines and shine but less is more.

I bought Mineral Veil solely to kill the shine on my face in the summertime when it is hot and humid. It does the trick but you have to be very sparing or you get a chalky look.

I really don't know if it is better or worse than most powders as I haven't bought any except this in about 20 years!

Let me start off by saying I only use this on my eyes, not on the rest of my face. I could never wear eyeliner because my eyes are very deepset and my eyelids are oily. One day I tried putting the mineral veil over my eyeliner and it is a miracle! My eyeliner stays in place the whole day! I am addicted to the mineral veil, I wear it every time I wear eyeliner. I think Bare Excentuals should def. market this as an eyeliner setting powder as well.

I hated this product and brought it back to Macy's in a hurry. It was chalky, dry, and made my face look bright white in pictures. Not to mention it is very messy and doesn't travel well. I'd avoid this at all costs.

i love the bare essential products for foundation and blush! my skin is super sensitive / freckled; rosacea and acne proned; uneven textured. basically, i have lousey skin and i hate wearing make-up. however, this is the only product that has not made me break out! it covers all of my imperfections beautifully without making me feel or look like i'm wearing make-up. the mineral veil is great as a light cover up alone in the summer over a tan, to even out my color and end the shine. i LOVE this product!!!!!

Every time I use my Bare Essentials products, I use this as the final step. I use the regular, non tinted formula, so you can't even see it. I feel like it does help though, and I plan on using it over my BE products. I am not sure if this is necessary, but I'd like to think it helps with the staying power of the other products. I will continue to use. I recommend you use this over your other powder BE products.

I use the luminating one and although my skin is oily, this does not make my skin look greasy. It has a nice sheen to it and it works well in keeping the oilies at bay. I am not much fond of using loose powder but it is worth to have this on. Great product.

subpar. I stupidly used this for years. It gives a decent finish, but does not control the oilies. Youngblood rice setting powder is far superior. It's chalky and you waste so much of the product with each use with its messy container. never again! It doesn't really do much, its just there, and within a couple of hours your oilies will be as well. nice concept, but no thanks.

This is a great finishing powder. I use it after my bare minerals to set it and it makes it look great, think it would work great with a liquid foundation 2, if not better. I also use this for half way through the day when my face is starting to get a bit oily. I apply this and it soaks up the excess oil really well, I then quickly top up my foundation where needed, usually my nose, and then go back over it again with another layer to help keep it in place. Would buy again but to be honest, cant see myself running out any time soon.

I love this stuff! It goes GREAT on top of liquid foundation and makes my face a LOT less oily throughout the day. It's soft and goes on very smoothly and doesn't cake at all.

This came with a starter kit a got as a gift, so I didn't have to pay for it =p. Ulta.com says it's $19 which is a bit much for me so I wouldn't buy this again unless I can't find another powder that works as well as this one
