I can see how this product would repel many people, but I think it's amazing. Despite its unusual scent, I've grown to really like it. Mostly I love how this product works. I don't think I've yet gotten used to the application technique after going through about 3 full size bottles of this stuff in the last 2 years, but I love that it doesn't strip my skin and that it cleanses and exfoliates without being drying or harsh. I love that it doesn't lather. Even though it's a relatively small bottle, it lasts quite a long time (even longer than the toner) and is almost worth every penny (it's way too expensive!). I use it in combination with the clarifying toner and also the normalizing day oil, which, I think, is the way that it works best. After I use all 3 of these products my face feels clean, fresh, calm and luxurious! I still break out occasionally as can be expected with my oily/combo skin, but these products together are the best that I've used on my face in probably forever. I love it.

I love this product. I have only been using Dr Hauschka products for a little over a month but the difference is phenomenal. My breakouts have cleared substantially and my skin has an overall glow.
Obviously a lot of people suck at reading instructions: you're not supposed to scrub with this product! You just pat a small amount (1/2 an inch) onto your skin and wash it off. And as for the smell, I'd say it is because the products are all natural, none of those synthetic nasties that smell fake.

Dr. H's cleansing cream is ok. I will not say I like it because I've had much better ones than this. I don't know if it's suppose to be a scrub but it does has little particles in the cream. The cleansing cream is not foamy at all, and doesn't clean my face very well.

A great product. It smells slightly odd compared to normal cleansers but you do get used to it quite quickly. Is not a bad smell just takes a bit of getting used to. It is important to note that this cleanser is a treatment and is not designed to take makeup off - you need a separate product to do this which does add to the cost but i use this morning and night (morning i use it alone and take off with water mixed with a couple of pumps of lemon or sage bath, and evening after cleansing and take off with water mixed with a couple of pumps of lavender bath).
In order for this product to really work, however, i do think you need to use other products with no chemicals (either other Dr H products or other chemical free lines). I can imagine this product not having the same results if this is the only product of its kind you are using.
Still have been using for about 28 days now and am starting to see a real difference in my skin.

Another extraordinery product from Dr. Hauschka {other one is Rejuvenating Mask}. What is weird about this,is texture of this product. It is some kind of scrub with crumbs in it,plus I think this is to agressive as daily cleanser.Smell and color reminds me on almond or whatsoever.I've noticed that this product is sooo natural,I feel like I've made some homemade product and just put it in the tube. That's how it looks like to me.Also, this product doesn't leather up at all,so this doesn't work as a make-up remover,You have to do it before You are going to use this daily cleanser.Anyway,I haven't seen any difference on my skin by using this product, but I have read one review below and find about one good idea:this could be great stuff for lip scrub. And that's why I'm going to repurchase this and try as a lip scrub.

MIRACLE....None of your products will work without this miracle product. Sometimes I use it as a mask, step in shower and it cleans the pores. Sometimes I just wash my face with it and sometimes I wash my face with another product and use this as a second step to exfoliate. And yes, sometimes I just don't use it because I want to see what happens to my skin. The results...dull and blah. I use this again and my whole face just glows, lines are erased and all my other products work so much better because they are on new skin, not layers of old. Fabulous for lips and way so less expensive than all those lip scrubs. Everyone asks me what I use. Instead of going through all my products, I just mention this and only this.
Run, don't walk. I'm 49 and don't use foundation because of this product. My skin is clear, rosy and just glows. Why would I ever want to cover it up with some gross color and consistency that cannot duplicate great skin. Less makeup on your face, better for your skin and look. This is the ONLY product that I have repeatedly purchased over time. The only one!
RUN, trust me here all of you MUA gals.

I bought this as part of the trial/travel set. I've been a Liz Eale devotee for ten years, and thought that my monthy pimples were just something I was going to have to live with. Using the cleanser, toner and moisturiser from Dr Hauschka has cleared all my spots, all of the time! Smells vaguely medicinal to me, but not at all offputting.

Pricing: Expensive ($20-$29)
Packaging: Ok. Comes in Twist top metal tube
Overall: Not impressed. Definitely not the best I have used, definitely not the worst.
Pros:
The almonds used to exfoliate are gentle
For dry skin, there is a bit of an oil to sooth the skin
Your skin feels great right afterwards
Cons:
Too oily
The Smell - weird sweet almond medical smell
Hard to work into a later/ cleansing potion
price
not a lot in the tube
broke me out a bit
DID NOTHING FOR BLACKHEADS
Usually love this brand...

In the early 1980's, a friend bought you a Dr. Hauschka sampler kit. It came in a cardboard box and cost fewer than $7USD. You got a tiny cleansing cream tube, cleansing milk bottle, toner bottle, rose cream tube, facial oil bottle and two glass ampoules.
You got hooked and, in turn, you bought a sampler kit for another friend. I can trace the "user lineage" of over 30 women! The cleansing cream is my favourite product. I suspect the trouble some have with it is they use too much - you really only need the size of a pea. Pat it very, very gently with perhaps a slight circular motion. Then rinse.
You should feel a slight residue. If you can't stand it, spritz some of the clarifying toner.
I have not been kind to my skin - I baked my face daily with baby oil and iodine and a reflector at high noon in SoCal for over four years. Dr. Hauschka products really saved me.
Ironically, the only other products I cleanse my face with are Noxzema Skin Cream (bizarre, I know) and the Decleor product line.

Horrible stuff. I totally fell for the natural mumbo jumbo. Brought me out in huge painful spots that took weeks to heal and is completely ineffective at removing most makeup.

As a daily cleanser this is too rough on my skin, but as a gentle exfoliant it is PERFECT. I use it roughly twice a week and its working great. More than that is way too much for my delicate skin. As an exfoliant I give this 5 lippies, as a daily cleanser "for all skin types" I give it 2.

I have been using Dr. Hauschka products for about 4 weeks now and what a difference! My skin has been crazy lately - oily tzone with extremely sensitve cheeks. Cleansing cream has completely done the trick! It soothes my sensitve areas and deep cleans the oily spots without drying (I do use Cleansing Milk first to remove makeup). It does take some time to get used to the "press and roll" method but it makes such a difference. I press and roll on my oily areas for a few minutes and only for about 30 secs on my cheeks - so the overall process for washing your face does take longer. The blackheads on my nose have been disappearing and I find that pimples go away faster and the brown spots they sometimes leave behind have been fading. Overall my skin is clearer and feels and looks softer. I am also using Dr. H's Clarifying Toner, Normalizing Day Oil and Rose Day Cream. If you are looking for natural/organic products definitely give Dr. Hauschka a try. I started out with the trial kit just to be sure. One more thing...rinse your face a few more times than you normally would, your face won't feel squeaky clean but it will be clean!
UPDATE 10/31/08 - I now only use this 2-3x/week for exfoliation. After about 8 weeks of use I started getting little pimples on my cheeks and forehead. I spoke to someone at Saffron Rouge (great online store for organic skincare!) who suggested using it less and trying a different cleanser. Currently I am trying out the Balancing Foaming Cleanser by Jurlique. I use Cleansing Milk in the am and again at night to remove makeup, then the foaming cleanser. The pimples are disappearing!

I bought the travel/trial set for normal skin even though I am oily/combo/prone to acne. This is because I find after 27 years of trying to rid myself of acne most products made for it are too strong and often make the problem worse. I have learnt to be a bit more gentle now!
Anyway I have only used the cleansing cream once and my, my the smell is just like vomit. Actually turned my stomach. I tried to push past it telling myself it would be worth it but sadly not. I followed direction and then rinsed off well but I was left with a really greasy feeling - as if it had coated my face. I had to use some Avene cleanance after to make myself feel better! As I say, I don't use harsh products any more but I need to feel clean.
Now I hate reviewing after one use but I really can't get past the smell and the results are not worth it for me. I love Dr H's Rose day cream light but I won't be adding this to the list sadly. My skin has only just begun to look clear and lovely, I daren't risk upsetting it.
UPDATE: Hmmmm, well I tried again and yeah the smell is still gross but actually its not a bad product. It does leave a coated feeling after but when I have toned it has gone. Also I think it is almost (but not quite...) as good as my Cleanance. I think if you hated it on first try, give it another go. It has changed the texture and look of my skin so I will continue till the little tube has run out. I will probably repurchase -they just need to change the fragrance!

I like this product. I used it back when I was about sixteen and my skin was still normal, sigh, that was times. I really like texture, all grainy and funny and I've always thought it smells like apples and almonds, which I like too. There is somethings relaxing about rolling out of bed and softly massaging this into your skin (or roll and lift or what you call it :) It leaves the skin sort of moistened and nice instead of tight and dry (like some foaming cleansers does). I don't think the skin becomes greasy even though you apply a moisturizer on top of this (after you've washed it off of course).
I would love to use this again if or when my skin becomes normal again.

I have put off writing a review for the entire Hauschka skincare line for so long because I didn't feel my words could do it justice. But intense and heartfelt gratitude makes me write this now, so please do forgive my lengthy review. I was and still am, very very unfortunate because I have normal skin with normal sebum production but the pores on my cheeks are abnormally shaped and sebum keeps getting clogged and inflamed there, huge cystic type acne. Anyway this was a major problem for me, because unlike oily-skinned acne sufferers, 97% of acne products dried out the surface of my normal skin. The products that used to work on me (cetaphil and 15% aha gel) made my skin so thin and SUPER SENSITIVE that EVERY SINGLE cleanser on the market gave me hives upon contact almost immediately. My skin even REJECTED cetaphil (which I'm told derms recommend to burn victims).
I had just about gave up when a good friend (bless her soul) recommended Dr. Hauschka, I read the glowing reviews written by sensitive skinned people (thank you all so very very much) and bought the normal/sensitive trial set. In it was this wonderful, fantastic, heaven sent product, the CLEANSING CREAM. Firstly, I didn't feel weird using this as a cleanser because I was used to the texture of cetaphil. The smell of this is lovely to my nose because it smell like fermented barley which is exactly like beer, I find it pleasant. The press and roll technique I was skeptical at, but I figured might as well go all the way.
The RESULTS? Damn bloody fabulous! Not only did my skin not break out in itchy swollen hives, but after I gently wiped my face dry, IT WAS GLOWING! My guess is the bits of rounded 'gritty' extracts in it and the press roll and slight rubbing action probably encourage better circulation. Even more miraculously, the 'gritty' bits didn't aggravate my skin. If anything my skin felt much less tight and irritated as compared to cetaphil for me.
It has been exactly 3 months since that fateful day, and I'm happy to report that my skin is still glowing. In fact my foundation-ed face now looks worse than my bare skin. O Happy Day! Sure, I still get period breakouts once a month but they are rarely inflamed nowadays and they go away in 3 days max. It terms of pore cleansing ability, the Hauschka cleansing cream doesn't work as fast as aha gel. But it is many times gentler and just 3 months after starting the routine, I can see tiny little whiteheads surfacing from pores that have been chronically clogged for years. This is a far cry from the blackheads and cystic acne that used to hound me and never surface. These very same pores, in the very same area, but not inflamed and not infected. I'm so happy, I feel like crying, instead I'm writing this super long review so that someone out there with similar problems might give Hauschka a try. Sure it's expensive, but what's the price you put on good skin. A tube of this lasts me slightly under 2 months, but to me every cent was worth it. And the tube is very travel friendly, plane pressure doesn't affect its consistency at all.
My routine now consists of Cleansing Cream, Facial Toner (another gem I will review another time), Cleansing Milk (M/U removal) and fortnightly Cleansing Clay Mask (shrinks period pimples and takes half of the redness away:). No moisturizer you ask? That's right! I don't need moisturizer anymore, my skin is perfectly normal now, and my pore problems are slowly but surely being tackled. Rose Day Cream is as fabulous as reported, I just don't need it now as my skin is perfectly balanced. I am forever indebted to DH skincare. Would I buy this product again? Heavens, yes. In a heartbeat. Even more than a HG to me, something I think the Gods would use. Gods of sexy, glowy skin that is!

I first bought this product when I was on an "all natural" kick not too long ago. A friend, who had a lot of success with the Dr. Hauschka regimen, had recommended it to me. I didn't mind the smell (which was very au naturel). Unfortunately, I did mind that it didn't really seem to clean all too well. My skin is very oily and acne-prone. The texture of the cream is actually more like a scrub (there's some ground nuts or something in it), which was a little scary for me since I don't like anything that aggravates my already aggravated skin. On top of that, applying their recommended method (press and roll) just didn't leave my skin feeling very clean at all. My face did feel soft after washing with this, but it also still felt greasy. Its price is also much left to be desired.

I thought this product was horrible! I bought it because I was looking for a more natural way to cleanse my face and heard great things about this product. I felt that it smelled horrible, the consistency reminded me of puke (sorry!), and the tube was tiny for what I paid for it! I would definitely never purchase this again.

The smell is definitely odd--very strong yeast odor--but now that I've gotten used to it I actually like it (and even look forward to it). I use this in the morning, and then at night after the Cleansing Milk. (The Cleansing Milk is necessary for getting rid of my makeup and preparing my skin for the Cleansing Cream in the pm.) You won't get a squeaky clean, but my face feels clean and soft and radiant after use. I find it works best when I use it with minimal water, so I feel it's more effective when I use it out of the shower. I use the press & roll method, and finish with the Clarifying Toner. One night I was too lazy to go to my downstairs bathroom to use this, so I used my old Cetaphyl (for oily skin) that was in my closest bathroom, and it immediately and completely dried out my skin, which it had never done before. So my skin has really adjusted and "normalized" with the Cleansing Cream. Only drawback for me is the packaging. I don't mind the tube, and am happy it's not plastic, but some of the product inevitably ends up getting in the cap and dries out. It's a minimal amount, but I don't like to waste any!
My acne-prone, combination skin (oily t-zone, very large pores on my cheeks, black heads everywhere), has definitely changed since starting my all-Hauschka routine about 3 months ago. And while I never thought I'd say this about a skincare line, I think you absolutely have to use all (or at least most) Dr. Hauschka products to benefit and truly change your skin. All the products compliment each other. I also think that application technique is very important with basically every Hauschka product, so you have to do some research and find what works best for you. If you're not interested in using all natural products, and can't invest time and patience (and money!!) into this (my morning, night-time, and weekly mask routines take much longer, but it really becomes a happy ritual for me because I feel like I'm taking care of myself), then they're probably not for you.

I started using this for about a week now. Having read the reviews from some users that this clogged their pores and caused pimples, I was pretty scared of using it. But I had someone buy 2 tubes from Hong Kong for me, and since the money has been spent, I figured I'd better use it.
Somehow my tube was the salon version and twice the size of what most people get (100 ml). Like many reviewers said, it stinks like old yeast. The smell is really something you have to get used to/ bear. I use it in the shower on a wet face after removing my make up with a cleansing oil. Since the product doesn't have preservatives, I assume the shelf life is very short so I try to finish my huge tube as soon as I can, using about 1 cm (1/2 inch) length of cream each time. I'm not really sure what the press and roll method is exactly, so I just use my fingers to press the paste around my face then gently lift off.
I made sure to use a toner after to remove excess dirt and oil. My face felt like there was a film of oil after cleansing, but after the toner it felt just right--soft and moisturized and clean. Although Dr. Hauschka's web site said not to use a moisturizer at night, I still decided to use a little (just 1 pump) since I didn't want to waste my moisturizer (L'Occitane's shea and organic cotton) that was preservative free and would expire in 6 months. Thankfully, my skin did not break out or 'purge' as the web site had warned, even though 1) it's that time of the month, 2) I have oily skin that I have to blot every 2 hours, 3) I live in a tropical country with 36 degrees celsius day time weather. In fact, a lot of my little comedones are now gone, and my skin is near flawless now.
I am quite happy with this product, but the smell is really something. Seems like it gets worse after the tube is opened for a while too.

I wanted to love this like the 5-star reviewers love this but... after using for 5 days I had 4 new pimples. I have acne-prone skin but 4 pimples in under a week is ridiculous. The smell is not my cup of tea (smells like yeasty beer to me) and I found I wasn't a big fan of the "press and roll" application method. I'm happy for everyone who has found this to be a wonder product but for me it turned out to be a waste of money.
