I recently went through a major hair change due to Accutane. Pre-Accutane I had fine, thin, oily and straight hair. Post-Accutane, I now have fine, thin, DRY, and WAVY hair. Because of this, I only shampoo my hair once a week (and rinse with water and condition on all the other days).

I decided to give Pure Abundance shampoo a try because I LOVED the conditioner. Unfortunately, I don't enjoy the shampoo quite as much. After I lather and rinse, my hair DOES feel thicker, but it also feels like straw. After I apply Pure Abundance conditioner, all is well.

I'm kind of bummed because Pre-Accutane I was constantly searching for the perfect shampoo for my oil-laden scalp and this would have been PERFECT. On dry hair, though, it isn't exactly perfect. But, it also doesn't weigh my fine hair down. So, I'm kind of torn. I probably will repurchase, since it works so well with the conditioner.

Good - but not great. Quite frankly, I was expecting a bit more from something that costs as much as good bottle of wine and smells like PineSol. I have VERY fine, medium length, wavy/curly hair that could use a little oomph. Bought both the shampoo & conditioner. I get better results from BTZ Airhead Shampoo combined with Powerlift Root Lifter. I think I'll just stop by Sally Beauty & pick up a nice Cabernet with the spare change!

This has too much moisturizer in it to be truly volumizing, at least for my fine hair. And after 1 day my hair needed to be washed--I can usually go 2 days before washing again. Frag is very herbal with a slight mint undertone--not great but not terrible either. Pretty expensive so I doubt I'd buy again when I found better for my hair.

I bought this shampoo in an attempt to add some volume and "ooph" to my hair. I have lots of fine color treated hair that hits my shoulders. I was told by the SA that the first time I used it I wouldn't notice any change but the second or third time I would. She hit the nail on the head - the first time I used it, my hair didn't appear nay different but the next day I used it - wow! My hair had so much volume and swing. I have been using it for 2 weeks now and it's gotten progressively shiner and has great volume right up until I hit the pillow for bed. I do use this in conjunction with the Pure Abundance Conditioner so that may be a factor playing into how well it works. I will repurchase. EDIT: a week and a half later I got so frustrated with how hard it is to lather up the shampoo and I found that it was only after washing my hair twice that it finally felt clean. I won't be repurchasing this....

I'm glad I tried this shampoo! It gives my fine, thick hair tons of volume and, when used with the conditioner, yet more volume and shine. It has the signature Aveda scent which I'm not mad about, but I'll put up with it (it's not overpowering when my hair is dry) for results like this. Thanks, MUAers, for the reviews!

I was so excited to try this product after reading all of the rave reviews --- and it did not disappoint! I already have thick hair, but I love the feeling of volume and softness. This shampoo (combined with the conditioner) gives me the softest, fullest hair without any greasyness associated with silicones! Even at the end of the day my hair feels soft and freshly brushed.
EDIT: *sigh* This started to weigh down my hair terribly...I had to clarify after each use. Very sad. I also became aware of a chalky film on my hair, I suspect from the clay in the conditioner.

Love it! Love it! It gave my fine , limp locks a huge boost. My hair was bouncy and beautiful. Even my hypercritical mother complimented me on my hair and she had no idea I switched shampoos. Now she tried it and loved it too. Would defn. repurchase. UPDATE *I so wanted this to keep working, but alas it wasn't meant to be it. It stopped working on my hair. My hair did look fabulous for 2 months though*

Love it. I use it in combination with the conditioner, and my hair is so soft. I have used other volumizing shampoos and they totally dry my hair out and make it very unmanageable. Will repurchase!

After reading most of the reviews, I thought this product was going to something special. Boy was I wrong. Pure Abundance gave no lift or 'oomp' to my hair. The conditioner weighed my hair down and it smelt horrible. Possibly because of the clay that's in the condition? hmm... The shampoo was an okay product. It didn't do anything but make my hair feel squeaky clean. Overall this product is going back to the store.

Like monkey80, I find that this shampoo lathers beautifully if I spread it between my palms and then lather with the flats of my hands. This is the trick that I use with my kerastase shampoos, too (and in fact, this is the method L'Oreal reccommends). Like no other volumizing shampoo I've used... There isn't build up... My hair feels silky when it's being rinsed (and not many volumizing shampoos can make hair feel silky). I just rub in some kiehl's silk groom after, and I'm set to go.

The fragrance is the herbal, Aveda signature. I like this one a lot.

This shampoo (and the matching conditioner) must have some sort of magic in it. I tried the Rosemary Mint shampoo years ago and hated it, so I was pretty skeptical of the good reviews for this shampoo. My hair is fine and limp, even though there is some natural wave in it. With this shampoo and conditioner, however, my hair has amazing bounce, body, thickness and shine. When I grab my hair into a ponytail, I'm amazed by the feeling that I suddenly have twice as much hair. I can feel the effects in the shower, even. When rinsing out the shampoo, my hair feels instantly silkier. I prefer shampoos with a lot of lather, and I found that I can coax a good amount of lather out of this shampoo if I work it in my palm (kind of rubbing and aerating it) before applying it to my hair. I also like the herbal scent. This shampoo is expensive, so I'm considering getting the economy size the next time. Highly highly recommend!

This is the first Aveda product I have tried in many years, but I've always loved their products and the natural, organic quality of the shampoos and conditioners. Pure Abundance has some interesting ingredients from England (the conditioner) ( and Chad (acacia gum) Africa of all places. Makes my hair feel so silky and soft in the shower and rinses out beautifully with minimal residue. Doesn't lather that well, but really softens. When combined with the conditioner, this stuff really delivers shine and a healthy look and feel, with no build-up. It does make the hair pretty think and full feeling and looking, think I'll stick with this as an extra body, volume building shampoo!

Well, it's a good shampoo. Not as great as I was hoping, but good. I was hoping for lots of volume and bounce and it's just not there with this shampoo. I like ABBA Creme Moist better for volume. That said, this DOES do an excellent job of leaving my hair shiny and healthy looking. It also gives a little more weight to my hair, so flyaways are less of a problem. The smell is nice, but I have to say it reminds me a tiny bit of citronella -- you know, the bug repellant? Maybe this will do double-duty and keep the mosquitoes away?

Pure Abundance is only shampoo that I can use that actually makes my hair look thicker Its because the shampoo fills your hair cuticle with organic acacia gum and the conditioner coats your hair shaft with a light clay to actuallu make your hair thicker and fuller!

This is a great shampoo/conditioner... I bought it for the first time after getting my badly damaged hair cut to get rid of the fried ends. I have incredibly fine hair, and the cut I doesn't work well with fine hair, but with the Pure Abundance shampoo and conditioner, it looks great and full. The stylist who recommended it explained to me that unlike some of the Aveda products, the Pure Abundance shampoo and conditioner must be used together for full effect.. .she explained that the shampoo sort of opens up your hair and the conditioner fills it to make it look fuller. Whatever the reason it works, it works! My hair looks and feels great.

Thanks to MUA, I gave this a shot. SOOOOOO glad I did, too. Does not weigh down my hair, and HOLY COW, this stuff is silky while you wash! UPDATE: While the volume is there, my hair is matte and unhealthy looking...NO shine when I use this stuff.

Move over Mastey and Nature's Gate... I have found my HG shampoo and conditioner! This is just perfect for my fine hair, which needs serious detangling but is also dried out, especially on the ends. It leaves my hair with so much clean body, yet it is silky smooth. It's expensive, but it's the best!

Just bought it yesterday and tried it today -- amazing difference! My hair looks the best it has looked in the last six months. it's great! I have baby fine and thin hair and this makes my hair look great IMO -- brings out the highlights too. I will update later but wrote because I haven't been as excited about a shampoo ever.
