I love this product! I waited a long time before swapping for it, and I am so glad that I did! This product works wonders for my very dry, curly hair. This cream really holds my curl together and takes away all frizzies while leaving me with well defined, long lasting, beautiful curls. I love my hair so much with this product. I took a break today and put in Redken curl cream and my hair was frizzy and horrible. I am going back to recoil tomorrow!

I'm completely underwhelmed by this product. It does nothing to enhance my naturally curly 3AB baby fine hair... in fact it leaves it a clumpy mess with no shine whatsoever. Overpriced, my hair hates it and I can't imagine liking any curl product less than I like A/G Re:Coil. No I would not repurchase.

This stuff it GREAT! I recieved a free sample of this and fell in love it with. I have wavy/curly hair, so my hair needs to be enticed to curl up instead of frizz up and this really did it. I use a dime size amount on wet hair. This really helps form the curl for me but it doesn't have much holding power. I still use Paul Mitchell's scuplting foam over it for the hold, but this is a HUGE help! I also like the smell. It is a bit expensive $18 dollars for 6 oz. but it will last a long time. Anyone with curly or wavy hair really needs to give it a try!

This is one of my staples that I won't go without. It's the only curl enhancer I've found that actually makes a noticeable difference. It's a bit tricky to apply at first. I use a very small pea size and rub my hands together to emulsify it, then apply to very wet hair. The price seems high, but it lasts a long time. I've been using it almost every day for 3 months, and I've barely used a third of the 6 oz tube.

I absolutely love this product. I use a pea sized blob (my thick 3a curly hair is about 3 inches below my shoulder)after my leave-in then finish off with Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper. The Ck is for the frizz as winter comes and it is less humid, I will try re:coil without the CK. It is wonderful! The magnesium sulfate in it really enhances the curl! Love it! The price ($16) seems like a lot for the product, but I use such a small amount at a time, it will last a long while! Will definitely repurchase! ~~jax
ETA: I now use this under joico joiwhip, and no longer use a leave in. Still a fantastic product with very little crunch!

After a frustratingly long search, I have finally found my HG hair styling product. I have long, naturally 3a/3b curly hair that I do not use sulfates/silicones (a modified CG routine, for those who know the book) on, so I needed a curl enhancing product to compliment some gel that would be water soluble... wow... re:coil is fantastic! It's a bit pricey ($16), but I don't have to use much (a little goes a loooong way), so the price shouldn't be a deterrant. If you're looking to enhance your curls (this stuff makes mine tighter/more defined/bouncier) - re:coil is it!! Buy it!!

I swear I have been looking for the PERFECT product for the summertime humidity, and I think I finally found it. After reading numerous raves about this product off naturallycurly.com, I finally caved in and bought it. The first time I used it, I got stuck in rain and humidity for about 2 hours, and my hair totally held up. As everyone says, a little of this product goes a LONG way, and it is easiest if used on hair that is very wet. I used this on top of Biolage Gelee and had amazing results. I don't think the smell of this product is that bad, in fact, I think it's pretty faint.

I love this stuff! I had never heard of it until my stylist started using it on me. I was devoted to PM styling foam in humid weather or when my hair was getting longer and Aveda Be Curly in the winter/with less hair. But in humid weather this stuff rocks! I put it on when my hair is pretty wet (after about 10 minutes in an absorbant towel), I comb my hair and then work a quarter size amount through my almost chin length (when wet) curly hair. I usually let it air dry. It gets a little crunchy, but when it's all dry I scrunch it a little more and work my fingers through and the crunch is gone, I just have really nice defined curls that last through most of the day. Sometimes I add a dab of biosilk for extra shine and softness. My only complaint is that I wish I could use it on dry hair to re-activate the curl, but it's way too thick for that. I just end up with white goo in my hair. Also, it seems rather expensive for the amount of product, I think I've had this bottle for about 6 weeks and it is almost gone. But will definatley re-purchase, I haven't found anything that works like this in my super humid environment.

I have fine (but thick) hair with spiral curly underlayers & a wavy/frizzy crown. When I want curls all over I apply this to my top layer & my hair airdries into bouncy curls that last for 2-3 days.
Here's my 'recipe' for shiny, happy curls. :)
1. Apply leave-in conditioner to soaking wet hair.
2. Mix a *tiny* drop (half a pea size) of Recoil with one drop of anti-frizz serum on my palm, emulsify, and spread over/scrunch into hair. The serum makes the Recoil much easier to distribute & helps with frizz reduction.
3. Scrunch in mousse (or gel) for extra hold.
I can't wait until I get a new hairdryer (mine croaked) so I can try this stuff with a diffuser! :)

I think there's something in this that weighs my fine hair down. I bought this in October and have been using it in every conceivable combination (soaking wet hair, damp hair, with other products, without) and it just doesn't do anything to help my hair curl. Or if my hair does curl, the curls collapse after an hour or two. It's just too difficult to use for the amount of money it costs. UPDATE: I have finally found a routine that works well with this. I mix Recoil with an equal amount of DevaCurl Angell and scrunch through my hair, then apply more Angell. When my hair is nearly dry, I add a few sprays of DevaCurl Set It Free for hold and frizz reduction. Have been loving my hair since! Upped this to 4 lippies. ANOTHER UPDATE: I am also sometimes using this with ORS Twist N'Lock as well, then adding Angell on top of that. Works great, too.

I think that this does a great job for my curly hair. i actually havent found anything that makes my hair look better. not crunchy, unless you put in too much. not sticky. i dont find it to be hard to distribute if you scrunch it in. also really nice that not tested on animals
update: i still like this, but you really have to be sparing, otherwise it will be crunchy

Gave this just 4 lippies because i do have to mix it with something to properly distribute it into my hair. If i don't, i end up applying too much and end up with a producty feel that i hate. Anyway, i mix with ORS Twist and Lock in my palm before alternately raking and scrunching in my 3a/b curls. This has become my replacement for Boots ECC since i just cannot find it anymore.
Has a lot more hold than i would have thought and i need a ton of hold in Southern Louisiana humidity. I use maybe half as much gel (layered over Re:coil) than i did with Boots. Still not enough hold for me to go without a gel on top of it but i'm pretty impressed in it as a cream product. Only drawback is that it's about $16 for a small amount but since i'm mixing it with another product, it should last a long while. It is my most expensive hair product so far. MUA is creating lots of lemmings! :-D

Oh good gracious! This stuff is a miracle! Thick as toothpaste and ridiculously hard to distribute evenly, but mixed with pretty much anything (Auntie Rhubarb Conditioning Gloss or ORS Twist and Lock are two of my favorites) it loosens up and is easier to use. A tiny bit goes a LONG way, so no worries about the price tag (I bought a big bottle for $28 and it's lasting me forever). Hands down the best curls I've ever achieved on myself. Adore this product and can't wait to try more from this line! UPDATE 8/25/06: Still consider this my HG! And it truly does mix well with ANYTHING!

Update 2010
Changed to YES; will repurchase. Based on trying again and figuring out how to make it work for my hair. DO NOT USE A LOT! Pea size dab is all I need for my shoulder length hair.
My hair type is 2b. When used correctly this brings out the wave in my hair. No frizz. This was talked about quite frequently on the hair board. AG is a Canadian salon product line. I was looking for a curl enhancing product. I was using Redken In the Loop but that has been discontinued.
The magic ingredient in both products is **MAGNESIUM SULFATE**. It is a salt basically that brings out the wave or curl in hair. It can be drying so I use a good leave-in conditioner on ends. You need a very small amount. It also works much better with a diffuser. I paid $16.95 cdn. from a Canadian beauty supplier Cosmo Prof. It also came with a full size bottle of shampoo that is nice and sulfate free.
When I first got this product years ago; I find this product very "finicky". Sometimes it works well and sometimes not as well. As mentioned you really need to use the EXACT amount needed; too much or too little and it doesn't work well.
When I first got this in 2005; am using this mixed in with another product. 2009/2010 update I find it works best if I use a pea size drop and rub in my palms to emulisfy. I apply this first. then I add a little curl cream (Noodle head BTZ) then Aura gel.

The trick with this product is applying it RIGHT. If you have no patience and end up applying it wrong the first time, you'll get bad results and will never want to buy/use it again. When done right (using just the right amount of product), you get the most bouncy, volumized curls EVER! The trick is to use small coin size amounts per section of hair, SCRUNCH IT IN, AND USE A DIFFUSER. Pros: Volume, clumppy curls, lots of soft curls/waves & nice shine! CONS: Inconsistant results when applied wrong, the amount of product to distribute through hair is tricky, squeeze tube sucks cos it tends to leak when sitting upright, resulting in a waste of product). I give it a 4 because it's just sooo hard to USE! UGH. But when it's done right- LOOOOOOVE IT!

This is a great curl enhancer. The only thing is you need to use a leave in conditioner or it can dry your hair out.

After searching for over 3 years for the perfect curly hair product for a dry climate...I've finally FOUND it! This stuff rocks. I am from the Midwest and have curly, thick hair that loves humidity. I used to just wash, condition, add a bit of gel and air-dry my hair in the car on the way to work. (windows wide open:) Upon moving to Colorado, my hair has been flat, frizzy, and my curls were not as bouncy as before. With help from my stylist who knows curly hair, I got a good cut and this product. Now I can wash, condition, evenly distribute the A/E Recoil and air-dry my hair in the car again!

I really like this stuff! I have naturally wavy hair that I usually flat iron straight. When I feel like wearing my hair wavy I apply this curling cream to damp hair and scrunch it dry. Sometimes I'll use a diffuser but it's not necessary. I get great curl/wave definition that is not too crunchy. This stuff is better than TIGI Curls Rock, IMO, but it's the same type of product. This is also miles better than Aveda Be Curly (which left a waxy film on my hair) and BTZ Noodle Head (just not that great).
The one downside would be the smell. It's rather plasticky and gross; wish they'd used the same smell as the Fast Food leave-in conditioner. Thankfully the smell doesn't last.

This does not do ANYTHING for my frizz which isn't that hard to control (Sebastian Potion 9 is amazing for frizz). This enhances curls but also makes them clumpy and icky feeling. I use this on my Mom's baby fine straight hair to acheive volume.

This is the 5th curl product I have tested...it is a tiny bit more expensive than the cheaper (really good) products I have tried. It is VERY concentrated, so you don't have to use very much.
(I found that out the hard way the first time I over applied) I have been using it a week now and even when I use less product, my hair felt coated and weighed down. I even have the flakey appearance that some other users have complained about. Too bad, after the positive reviews here I thought this one might be a keeper...will keep trying with the amount in my hair, but if the weighed down feeling doesn't improve...this one will be swapped!
