I almost broke a nail trying to get the lid off the small tin. Then I didn't care for the fragrance on my hands which is faintly like Vicks VapoRub. The fragrance oils, eucalyptus oil and others, in the product made my hands itch. I prefer Curel Ultra Healing or Aveeno Baby Cream or Lotion. I'm always looking for a better hand lotion as I am prone to eczema.

Smells great (although a bit medicinal). Container is cute. Salve itself is greasy and doesn't sink in, with no noticeable improvement to my hands over time.

This did nothing for me. I applied it a few nights before bed, since my hands get soo dry (I work in a lab and wash my hands about 20x a day!), but the hand salve never really sank in and got absorbed. It's waxy/greasy, like most other Burt's Bees products, so it just sits on your skin. Plus I'm not a big fan of the menthol-y scent. Don't waste your money. I'm going right back to my favorite: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula!

I tried this as a hand cream, mainly at night before bed.

This stuff is greasy! It is basically a scented wax in a tin. It never fully absorbed into my hands, and so even in the morning, I would notice the greasiness. The scent is a bit like menthol, and I prefer something more soothing at night. It stung where I had cuts, although it did seem to make the cuts heal faster than normal.

this stuff rocks! after trying all of bb other hand care products - this is the one i always reach for - and i have all their other hand creams. to me this smells very good - and if i put it on before bed - in the morning it is all soaked in - and when i wash my hands it is protective but without the slimy feeling of other lotions or creams. i also put this on my feet before bed and sometimes use it on the very dry ends of my hair (rosemary/lavender oil).
one tin last for many, many months. excellent! and i LOVE the smell.
UPDATE: i no longer use any BB's products. they were bought by clorox and now use many more plastic bottles/packaging. much prefer buying local and using hand-made products without all the plastic.

I used this product when I worked at a museum and had my hands in water all day for an exhibit where I helped children pan for gold. There was a tin of it at the desk, so I didn't actually buy it, but I think I would. It moisturized my poor waterlogged hands really nicely and I felt like it added a protective coating as well. But, Vaseline does pretty much the same thing and is a lot cheaper. It was very nice to have then, though, and I am fond of Burt's Bees products.

BB products are really a hit or miss, and this one is a miss. Waxy, oily, and STINKY hand stuff that made my skin feel weirdly oily and dry at the same time. No good. And the smell is like a rotten pistachio. Not at all appealing, particularly if you lift food to your mouth and catch a whiff. Won't purchase again.

Love this product! Great for dry hands, elbows, nees in the winter. It's a bit greasy but gets absorbed quite well! I love the smell of it, but it's not for everyone! I mostly use this in the winter when i need that extra moisturizing.

menthol/minty smell. easier to apply than the lemon butter cuticle cream but like that, its way too greasy for my liking.
i wouldnt repurchase, as for the price of it, i would be better off making my own or buying another cheaper but better hand cream

I use this every night, and it does a super job of moisturizing my hands (especially in winter). It keeps my hands soft even during the day, so I use less moisturizer during daytime hours (which is usually Aveda's Hand Relief), and I love the scent. The only down-side for me is that it is very greasy, and that causes problems as I like to read or do crossword puzzles at night before turing out the light (so the pages get smeared sometimes). Other than that, this is a super product I buy again and again.

I mainly use this for my lower half of the body. It keeps my eczema prone skin at bay. I love it's herbal scent. My skin is so shiny after applying this salve but after a few hours my pants have absorbed some of it so the shininess goes away. Body creams that I have bought priced around $20 or less have failed me and the ones with good ingredient like shea butter are too expensive. I don't see the point of paying a lot of money for creams when half of it gets absorbed by my clothes. The only products I am willing to spend a little more money are for my face.

I'm in the minority because I like the rosemary scent. That said, while this did a nice job of moisturising my hands in their normal state, it did nothing for the dry patches I get after a bad bout of eczema. To be honest I find that oil-based treatments like this make very dry, flaky skin much worse. EDIT: This is a great lip balm. I'd consider buying it again for that use alone.

My hands were so dry before using this. I also didn't smell it before I bought it and when I opened it was concerned because it's a very strong rosemary smell. Anyway once I put it on it soaked in well, it DOES feel greasy when you first put it on but let it soak in and it won't anymore. You get quite a lot and don't have to use much so I'm sure this will last me a long time. I'll buy again.

The smell is a touch much and it is quite greasy but for peeling hands or elbows this stuff is a godsend.

I use this as a spot-treatment for problems, such as dry knuckles. It is pretty greasy to be smearing all over your hands, but if you need seriously intense healing, this stuff is a good salve. Smells nice and soothing.

This salve is waay too greasy. I can't imagine anyone using this and doing anything productive with their hands afterwards. I have the version in the metal tin and find it very cumbersome to open/close, especially if your hands are greasy. I prefer hand cream in a squeeze tube.

This hand salve was way too greasy to use anytime other than right before getting into bed. The smell was not very pleasant either. I like supporting Burt's Bees, but I would not buy this product again.

Didn't do anything to heal my badly cracked hands except grease them up the whole winter. Total waste of my money. I hated the scent too.

i really like this...the smell was somewhat hard for me to acclimate to, since ive never used a product with a eucalyptus scent before. but i actually started loving it. Also, when you first try it, it is admittedly greasy, but if you give it a few minutes to sink in its actually fabulous..also, if you use it continously for some 4 or 5 days, you will begin to SERIOUSLY notice the difference...and its great for all parts of your body that are rough and cracked and chapped..basically its time and patience and continuous application...and they give you a HUGE tub considering how much you really need...i will repurchase if i ever run out!! the only reason i give it four lippis is due to the greasiness that takes a while to be absorbed

As mentioned before, I like Burt's tins better than the "twist off" metal and glass pots, so it didn't lose points for that.

YES, the product is greasy but this is meant to sit on your hands. This is not your average moisturizer. Put it on, rest and watch some tv, or just put gloves on and do some paperwork or even sleep with it on. This is a natural product, I would rather a bit of grease than put a bunch of chemicals on my skin.. but that's just me.
