I normally have pretty dry, fluffy hair. I tried other LUSH shampoo pucks (Squeaky Clean, Godiva and Seanik) and all of them made my hair extremely dry and wiry. When I got the New! bar as a birthday present, I really didn't think I'd like it, but gave it a shot.

It's good. It doesn't dry out my hair, but does manage to leave it less fluffy after I wash than with most other shampoos. When I got highlights, this didn't affect them at ALL either--awesome, since it's not specifically touted as "color-safe." The strong cinnamon scent is great for waking you up in the morning, but it doesn't linger in your hair--a somewhat smokey (like summer barbeque grill) scent takes its place. I don't really like it...I wish this bar had a more feminine scent.

Note that the bar does nothing to enhance shine or prevent hair loss for me, however. I still shed quite a bit while blow-drying, but it could be because I have such thick hair to begin with.

All in all though, good bar. I've been using it for 7 months so far with no problems. Oh, and this bar will easily last me another month, so it gets an A for longevity.

and it gets 5 for packaging quality because it's so environmentally friendly by design, that it doesn't need any packaging!:)

I’ve just recently become a Lushie convert, after many years of searching, I found two HG skin products at LUSH, which made me eager to see what other products might also be HGs for me. This has been an additional and unexpected HG find at LUSH. It has a noticeable cinnamon smell, similar to the Red Hots candy mentioned by another MUA reviewer, which I found pleasant. This shampoo is billed as helping to stimulate the scalp and deal with hormonal hair loss. Since all my life I shed a great deal of my thin, dry, fine and now colored hair, I figure why not give this a try? I’m glad I did. I have used it 3-4 times and I’ve found less hair in the drain hair catcher, on my comb/brush or on the floor. It does leave my wet hair VERY stringy and in need of a great deal of conditioner to make it manageable, which I’m not too fond of (hence minus 1 lippie), but the bottom line is that IT WORKS as I have less hair loss! :) It's more effective than costlier Alterna hair loss products I have tried. I would recommend giving it a try.

I got this in a mini sample form at a party and have been using it for a couple weeks and i am in love! The small is amazing - cinamon.
I have trouble with my scalp with occasional dandruff and i'd say 99% or shampoos make my scalp hurt and ache. - ithink it's allergies?
But anyway. this shampoo does a great job at cleansing and doesn't dry out my hair at all like the other solid shapoo I use (soak and Float) and doens't make my scalp hirt like ultimate shine.
I'm so glad I got a mini one of these free - I have wanted to try it forever and I think it is probably my new HG lush shampoo. the shamoo bars in general are very economical about $9 CAN and last forever.

I really love the idea of a solid shampoo. This has a nice scent and forms and excellent lather. It is easy to use and leaves my hair feeling just the right amount of clean.

After using it a few times I already can say: This is the best hair product I ever used!!! Because IT DOES WHAT IT SAYS, and in such a perfect way you can't believe. After all those hollow promises in advertisings or hair salons (I used everything.. from drugstore shampoos to overrated brands like tigi) I never thought I would ever come across a hair product the costumer can really count on.
I have extreme bleached hair and til 2009 I often straightened it and blow-drying after every wash was a must. Added on this I have problems concerning hormone balance - you can't believe how much hair I lost everyday!! Hairline crack caused of long-term "little" hair damages AND real hair loss caused of hormones, malnutrition, whatever. NEW! Hair .. It's a mercy! I have been using this for 1 week and every morning I'm so happy running with my hand through my hair and finding no fallen out hair!! when I did this before using NEW!, you could find blonde hair everywhere.. sofa, on my jacket, on the carpet under my seat at school :D,.. Incredible it did its work already after 3 times of use. changeover from hair loss-disaster to healthy scalp that keeps your hair. And it HAS TO be the shampoo which did this miracle - I didn't take hormones, didn't eat other things than normally,... I just took another shampoo :) Now I'll definitely buy also a LUSH hair treatment for my damaged hair (of course NEW doesn't repair your hairline crack.. it already does enough miracles without ;D) and I'm convinced I get back my healthy hair with my new favorite brand. Since I know NEW! Hair, I also know: I'll never return to TIGI. I found my perfect hair product which keeps its promise :)

I bought this shampoo bar at a time when I had experienced a lot of hair loss due to using clairol herbal essences. Let me tell you: this little bar WORKS! After the hair loss, I started using this and the hair came back! It left my scalp feeling clean and invigorated. The cinnamon scent didn't linger but it did wake me up in my morning shower. This bar helped me out during a time when I was so worried about the hair loss so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

its such a cute little shampoo bar hehe. it doesn't smell as good as the other Lush products i think~ but its still good nonetheless~
i bought this after a terrible haircut (==") and the BA told me its suppose to stimulate hair growth. i haven't really noticed much of that. though i use this with American Cream and my hair ends up really smooth and shiny~
it was a bit too... tame afterwards? like, straight and shiny, for my liking anyways~ im more looking for hair with more volume. so because of that i won't be buying this again (gonna try New next time =]) but its still a good shampoo~

This is my first experience with a solid shampoo bar, and already I love the idea. Love the lack of packaging and how long it lasts. I was worried it would leave my hair feeling like I'd washed it with soap, but it didn't, although it did feel more squeaky-clean than some liquid shampoos leave it, and you DEFINITELY need a good conditioner after it.
The smell is ok, reminds me of Dentyne Cinnamon Gum which I used to love!
The best way to store it in the bathroom is on a wire soap-rack or dish - keeps it dry and leaves no splodges of shampoo anywhere. I'd only use the tin for travel.
I haven't had it for long enough to establish whether it's helping the growth of new hair or not, but I haven't noticed a change in the amount coming out.
The only thing that might prevent me buying this again is that I think it leaves my scalp a little bit dry and itchy (not flaky though - so far!). Usually my scalp takes about 3 days to become slightly greasy after washing, but I left it 4 days after using this and it still wasn't greasy (washed it anyway though!). I will be buying the Ultimate Shine bar next I think, although I'm a bit put off by the 'sparkles' in the bar. I really wish Lush wouldn't put bits of crap in otherwise good products - I had to chuck away a massage bar because it contained purple glitter which got everywhere, and I'm considerably over the age of 10 so it just seemed ridiculous.
I colour my hair and it is possible this shampoo lightens the colour a bit - but that's actually good for me since dyes usually make my hair darker than I like anyway.
It has left my hair very noticeably shinier and smoother, which is fantastic for a very frizzy girl!
I'll monitor the itchy scalp situation and try different conditioners in case they're the problem. If it is the shampoo bar, then so long as it doesn't get worse it probably wouldn't put me off it as it's only mild and the benefits outweigh a slight itch.

This is THE best shampoo I've ever used on my hair. Soft, shiny, a lot of my dry scalp scabby bits seem to be GONE from my scalp in just one use, and I'm not even kidding.

I am completely SOLD on this product. love, love LOVE it! HG product for sure!

I love Lush's solid shampoos, but i was after one that didn;t have Cocodamide DEA in it. So I picked New, even though it wasn't really marketed at me. I hate cinnamon, but this smells beautiful and combines surprisingly well with American Cream.

The effects New has had on my hair are as follows:
Its has brought out the lighter blonde and gingery bits in my otherwise muddy mouse barnet.
My hair is much stronger and before I used to lose a lot of hair showering and brushing. Since using New this is much less. My hair is even shinier and softer than when I was using the Blonde.

I love this bar. Its lasts for months, so is incredibly cheap and there is no packaging whatsoever.

This is the most amazing thing I have ever tried. This is the first time I ever tried Lush's solid shampoo, or any kind of solid shampoo and I am amazed at how great it works. I just wet my hair and rub this straight all over my scalp and it forms the most amazing lather! I massage it into my scalp, wash it out, and my hair feels really clean, then I apply conditioner. Once I have washed the conditioner out, my hair feels so smooth under the water. I let my hair air dry or sometimes blowdry and ever since I started using this shampoo, my hair has been so healthy, shiny, and light-feeling even when I do not style it. It feels like it gets rid of residue that other shampoos leave behind. I can just let my hair air dry and it still looks great natural. My hair has grown a ton ever since I started using this. Plus, this thing lasts forever! It is such a great buy. I got mine for about $10 CDN from the Lush store. I highly recommend this.

I love this shampoo! Its so nice and fun to use. I dont spell cinnimon as much as cloves, though I know it has 'cinnimon?' stuck right in the middle. I bought two and I have have shampoo forever. I really like it, though I havent noticed a dramatic improvement in my hair condition. It does the job, well

i didn't expect to like new! as much as i do. i don't use it every day because i prefer big, but new! makes my hair really soft and my hair has grown a ton. it doesn't dry out my hair like some other lush hair products i've tried.

my hair doesn't grow slowly or anything by any means, but i recently got my hair cut and now i'm tired of having short hair so i'm trying to encourage it to grow. i've been using new! two or three times a week, and my hair is growing much faster than normal. my hair has definitely grown an inch in the past month.

the scent is alright, i personally do not like heavily scented shampoos or anything because they tend to make me nauseous, but this one just smells like cinnamon so it's not too bad. it reminds me of spice curls soap, though spice curls is definitely spicier than new! the scent doesn't stick to my hair after i rinse it out, and i can't smell it unless i'm using it. like it doesn't scent my bathroom or anything like a few of the soaps do.

the price is wonderful, i think. the bar is about ten bucks and i've been using it for a month now and it doesn't even seem to have shrunken in size, and i use more than recommended. instead of three swipes across the scalp i use more like five, and i lather it in my hands afterward. that's awesome for ten bucks. no packaging doesn't bother me, if it bothers you you could always buy a little tin for it. i have a tin in case i'm traveling but i just store the puck on a shelf built into my shower.

My favorite LUSH shampoo bar is normally Seanik, but this bar just took it's place. ♥


First, I love the cinnamon scent. It's very invigorating. Secondly, it lathers up incredibly well. Much faster than even Seanik. The lather seems denser, more abundant as well. And lastly, I was in awe of how shiny my hair was after using this bar for a few days. Every time I used it my hair just looked shinier and felt so soft, light and bouncy. With my hair type, that is hard to come by.


For reference, I have fine, wavy hair that falls about mid back. It can get very frizzy if I use something too drying on it, but at the same time, very weighed down if I use something too moisturizing. This was perfect.


Also wanted to note, I usually have to wash my hair everyday because of it's fine texture; It tends to look really greasy on top if I don't. Using this shampoo I noticed that I can almost let it go 2 days in between washings, though. I say almost because at about the 1.5 day mark it will start to feel like it needs washed (without using this bar that feeling comes at the one day mark, though) but when I look in the mirror it doesn't look like it needs washed, yet. So I can go 2 days if I wanted to now. Huge plus since it usually looks like it needs washed everyday when I use anything else.


Giving this kudos also for using less packaging than regular bottled shampoos. I was skeptical at how well a shampoo bar would work before I tried LUSH's, and now I much prefer them and have a hard time going back to bottled shampoos. I just find these much easier to use and store.

This is such a groovy little product, i think i bought this about a month ago and the size has barely reduced, which is amazing considering both myself and my fiance use it religiously.

I'll admit, I bought this shampoo for the delicious cinnamon scent, but I'd buy it again because not only does it smell great, it makes my hair feel amazing! From the first use, my hair was full of body and very soft, and my scalp felt invigorated and healthy. This shampoo is also easy to use, economical, and good for the environment. I think my every day LUSH shampoo bar will still be Seanik, but New! is one I see myself returning to on cozy winter nights or when I need a pick-me-up.

I've been using NEW! for over a month & I like the results. I pair with Veganese conditioner. I need a detangler before combing wet but once I blow dry & flat iron, my hair is shiny & bouncy & healthy. I have a dry scalp that tends to get itchy & flaky, especially in the winter. I have noticed much less dry scalp issues since using. I have not noticed a decrease in hair loss throughout the day, especially when combing wet after a shower. This bar is supposed to stimulate the scalp to promote hair growth & help prevent so much hair loss.
This bar lasts a long time so it is a fantastic value. As with all of LUSH's hard products - keep out of the shower spray so it doesn't melt. The cinnamon scent does not linger in my hair at all after rinsing.
Update: 12-6-10:
I have stopped using Lush haircare. It was too drying for my scalp. I do love the idea of solid shampoo & conditioners though & the scents are so amazing. The hair products do have SLS which I've learned can be drying to the scalp. I've been using the Rainforest line from The Body Shop since late summer & liking it so far.

I absolutely love this stuff. It fills the shower with the most unbelievable cinnamon scent, which is a very unique scent in a shampoo, and makes my scalp feel so fresh. It also does wonders for my dandruff. It's my miracle product. The only reason I didn't give it the highest rating is that it tends to get your hair very "squeaky" clean and requires a lot of conditioner to get your hair feeling normal and soft.

I LOVE this shampoo. It smells like Chai tea... and it's a bit strong when you just sniff it, but after rinsing it out of your hair, it smells less in your face, but still really good. My hair is fairly normal, very thick, is about halfway down my back, and gets a little greasy by the end of the day. This completely gets rid of oil. I don't think you would like this as much if your hair is dry, because it might aggravate your scalp, but that has never been an issue for me. I love how easily it lathers up (just swipe it around your hair 2-3 times) and then massage it into your scalp. I've been using this for about a month, and I think it will probably be used up after 2 more months. I don't think I'll be able to switch back to liquid shampoo. I tried using some once, and all I could think was that it didn't make my hair feel as clean as NEW! does. I will definitely repurchase this, and perhaps try out some of the other shampoo bars. Godiva in particular seems really nice. Definitely give this a shot. It's either Vegan or Vegetarian (I forget) and is very eco-friendly since it doesn't waste plastic bottles.

HG! HG! A little backstory on my hair: I had waist-length, naturally black hair, and about a year and a half ago, I decided to bleach it all and dye it bright red. Awful decision, I know! My hair was so dry that it felt like straw, and it started falling off in clumps. I ended up having to cut off about a foot of it before I could even think of dying it black again. Now it's about armpit-length and black, but unbelievably oily. Like, I would wash my hair in the morning, blow-dry, and by the time I was done blow-drying my hair would be an oil slick again kind of oily.
Anyways, I decided to try this product since it is toted to be good for oily hair, and promotes hair growth. This is the first shampoo bar that I've tried, and I was a little bit skeptical, but I find that I don't have to use much product, and it's easy to use. The smell is lovely and invigorating. After only two weeks' use I can already tell a difference in the thickness of my hair; my husband and my Mum have also noticed the change. It also really slowed my hair's oil production; I can *almost* get by two days without shampooing again. My Mum is now trying out this shampoo in hopes that it will help her hair become more thick again (she has wispy hair after having brain cancer several years ago).
So I would recommend this to anyone with very oily or thin hair!
