This was the most volumizing, lengthening mascara I've ever tried (including Diorshow). I returned it because it was just too much for me. I felt like I had 3 sets of false eyelashes on - and that was just one coat. For me, it definitely has more oomph than the regular Voluminous which I used for years, and this made my lashes very thick and full. I prefer a slightly more natural look and am using Lash Out, which is smoother in the application, and not quite so over the top. I heard that this is the Hypnose counterpart, but this is way more volumizing than Hynose. The other problem I had with this is, it really irritated my eyes...not a burning or itching, it made them ache (I know, I'm so strange). However, I think this is a mascara that some people have been looking for....my eyelashes have some length and volume on their own, this just took them too far.

I am a mascara junkie. I believe that there exists a mascara that will do what I want it to do. Elizabeth Arden's double density comes pretty close. However, I wanted to try a drugstore version so after reading the reviews, chose L'oreal. I bought this thinking there would be no difference between regular voluminous and this one, and I think I was wrong. I will purchase the regular one this weekend to be sure. Either way, this product is clumpy, clumpy, clumpy. It is not unusable thought you simply have to clean the brush with a tissue before applying. So in other words, you have to discard most of the product so that you can use some of it. Does that makes sense to anyone?

Well, I wanted to like this stuff, BUT I didn't. It is a "heavy" mascara that does not hold a curl (and I don't have hard to curl lashes). Not to mention, while it started out nice (the first couple of uses) it turned into a clumpy mascara & requires a lot of work (combing) to make it nice. I feel this mascara is a "dryer" kind, which I like, but it also makes your lashes look dry (no gloss to them at all, which I did not expect, just wanted to mention it).
Overall, I will not repurchase. But for $5 it might be worth trying if you did not like the original Voluminous (due to it applying too much in a single swipe).

I don't know if I just got a bad tube or what, but this mascara was nothing but MAJOR CLUMPS on me, and it flakes off into my eyes later in the day irritating my contacts =( I could just tell by looking at all the clumps on the wand that it would be clumpy on my lashes (I even tried to wipe the clumps off the wand on a tissue first). The formula is just really thick and dry-ish, which is why I wonder if i just got a defective tube because the regular Voluminous is more on the "wet" side. I love the regular Voluminous and high hopes for this one but sadly it just didn't work out. Will not repurchase.

This mascara rocks! After I used it, I was pretty surprised to see some of the bad reviews on here. I have super-short lashes, and this mascara extends them without making my lashes look spikey. It also added volume without making my lashes feel hard/crunchy! There wasn't any flaking that I noticed either. Overall, I loved this mascara!
UPDATE (3 weeks later):
"hmmm... what happened? seems like this mascara lost all its magic! doesn't work like it used to - lotsa clumping!"

I have used many mascaras through the years and this is the worst. L`Oreal makes really good products as a rule but this isn`t one of them. I had a $2.00 dollar coupon off on a mascara that was on sale, so it was a no brainer to try the mascara. It was far too wet and globby. It clumped so badly I had 3 eye lashes on the top of each eye. Trying to use another brush didn`t help to separate the lashes. I finally had mascara on my face, I poked the brush in my eye (don`t ask how) and before it was over the wand was on the bathroom rug. I had to stop and clean that (use store brand cetephil cleanser to clean make-up off you and the rug, clothing, etc). The more I cleaned up the mess, the worse it got. At least I didn`t spend very much for it. I will do a review on the wonderful mascara I bought to replace it and the snazzy little clean-up tool for boo-boos.

I grabbed a tube of this after my sister 'accidentally' took my usual mascara, and left me stranded. Unfortunately though, this mascara tends to clump on my lashes, and I often have to go over them with a comb after applying. It also seems to flake by the end of the day, which is a real pain and has kept me from trying it on my lower lashes...could've just been this particular tube, but since my lashes are already quite long & thick, I find it a bit too dramatic for everyday wear anyhow.

For a girl with thick medium length lashes with very little curl, this mascara didn't do any wonders for me.
A very average mascara~
Not clumpy but takes a while to dry.
It definitely lengthens the lashes but isn't a great curler.
Not a bad mascara, but not worth the price.

I like using this on my bottom lashes. It gives me nice definition. I also like layering it over Volume Shocking for a little more length.

Of all the mascaras I've ever used in my 39 years of life, this is my HG. I have quite alot of favorites from many brands but this gives me super length, immense volume, super dark black color and no clumps. I look like I'm wearing falsies. I sure hope l'oreal never discontinue this. Of course I recommend this product, I bloody love it !

Horrible mascara!!! I recently purchased the full definition voluminous in blackest black, hoping that it would live up to the great reviews. Makes my lashes straight, clumpy, and flakey. It provides some volume, only due to the globby and clumpiness and provides absolutely no lengthening! I will NOT be purchasing this mascara again.

This is my #1 go-to mascara of the moment. I curl, apply a primer (another brand), and then this mascara. I swear sometimes my lashes look fake, they look so good!!

This is my favorite of all of the voluminous mascaras, and I have tried wp, regular, and carbon black. If gives a lot of fanned out volume, not clumpy, and the blackest black seems darker to me than carbon black. It does not lengthen very well, which is why it only gets a 4, but it does lengthen more than all the other voluminous mascaras. Try it!

I really like this mascara a lot. I like it better than the regular Voluminous. I saw it at Riteaid and made a straight bee line for Wal-Mart (we all know stuff is waaay cheaper there). I chose it in the Black Noir. I liked that it made my eyelashes look as if they had been feathered out. I got no lumps or clumps and I didn't get that ton of mascara on the wand as another reviewer did. I used it on top of my beloved Shiseido The Makeup Mascara Base and I got the look I had been trying to achieve w/countless other mascaras. I say give it a try I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. As always save your receipt in case you want to return it.

i'm giving this 3 lippies because of all the things that are being considered here: the price (fab!), the availability, the formula, etc. i think this is possibly one of the better drugstore mascaras out there. it's atleast as good as a lot of the highend mascaras i've tried, and even better than some. that said, it's not perfect. the bad points: a LOT of mascara comes out on the brush, too much, so that if you don't wipe before you apply you don't exactly get clumps but you get 3 eyelashes all stuck together into one big mascara overloaded mess! so wiping off some beforehand is essential, and i HATE wiping, i don't think you should have to wipe off a mascara wand everytime you use it, it's annoying and you end up wasting a ton of the product. if you do get clumps, make sure you use your lash comb immediately while your mascara is still really wet because if you let it dry at all and then try to comb your lashes out you're going to get a bazillion black flakes all over your face! and don't even think about touching your mascara up by reapplying this after you've had it on for a few hours; if you try to layer new mascara onto your already dried mascara you are going to end up with HUGE gross clumps that you will not be able to fix. finally, it's a huge chore to remove this, i don't know why, it's not WP and i am very careful to pay extra attention to removing my mascara. after a shower and extra massaging with my fingers/washcloth, i still end up looking like a raccoon! not great. now the good points: dark, jet black color that is just wet enough. mega volumizing! this is probably the most volumizing mascara i've ever had, and i try TONS of volumizing mascaras (the only kind i buy) and am constantly dissapointed. doesn't flake or smudge much at all (although i think mascaras tend to flake once they get a bit older). it's a good buy if you're willing to put an extra few minutes into your routine with the application and removal, and i would (probably) buy it again. **EDIT** just a quick note, i did a side by side comparison of this and Clinique's High Impact mascara, and they give the EXACT same results. seriously, you couldn't even tell i had 2 different mascaras on! so if you love High Impact, give this a try and save a few dollars. even the brushes are exactly the same!!!

This is truly an excellent drugstore mascara and a new HG! It doesn't sensitize my eyes or cause burning or itching after a few hours like many mascaras I've tried. The brush bristles deposit the right amount of product without clumping or dribbling, and I don't experience smudging or mascara fallout as the day wears on. Full Definition Voluminous builds full, lush lashes that stay put without a lot of fuss. Removes easily with Neutrogena or Rimmel eye makeup remover. L'Oreal also often runs Buy One Get One Free specials and has dollar or more off coupons in the Sunday paper.

This is the mascara that I keep buying over, and over, and over again! I used to jump around with mascaras all the time....I've tried them all! Now this is the one that I always reach for. It really makes my eyes stand out. It makes my lashes look thick and rich, and it does not get clumpy. I love it!!

This is HG material for me. I am never without a tube of this in my mascara arsenal. I get great length and amazing volume, just like the regular voluminous. This however, beats out the regular voluminous mascara because it defines every lash without clumping. It also hold the curl from my lash curler very well. There is absoloutely no negative points to this mascara. I highly recommend.
