This has to grow on you-it has the most haunting top note. I am quite addicted to it, but it took 4 tries to get to the point of no return. When I wear this I notice people looking perplexed & then very happy boozy before asking what it is. I'm enjoying the reaction as much as the top note.

I once sprayed Butterfly on one wrist and Pleasures on the other, and asked random guys at the mall outside Sephora to smell me and pick which fragrance they liked better! (Thankfully no one turned me down or called Security.) Butterfly won 7 to 2. Several of them said it smelled like vanilla or like a cookie. To me, it evokes almond and sandalwood and musk. It creates a very sexy aroma. Not a scent I wear everyday... just when I want to get lucky.

It's an ok scent. I don't smell any vanilla or strawberry or anything foody or yummy or overly sweet in this AT ALL. It smells -very- powdery and fruity. To me, it smells like powder, sour fruits like blackcurrant and a little blueberry (but not in a sweet yummy way, in a sour, true fruit sourness way), and a little almond (I guess this is what people mistake for vanilla, but never in a million years would I think this smells like vanilla or confuse an almond scent with a vanilla scent... doesn't smell like vanilla at all!!). I find something quite air-freshener/urinal cake and old ladish smelling about it that turns me off a lot. I really wanted to love this and bought it unsniffed because of the reviews, I thought it would be a very sweet yummy vanilla-strawberry scent. But it's not like that AT ALL. It's powder, fruit sourness and a little almond, quite air freshener smelling. Not sweet or yummy at all. Not a hint of strawberry or vanilla. VERY powdery and fruity sour.
I'd say this is an ok scent. It's not terrible but it's not good enough either. I'll finish my bottle (when I use this fragrance I feel like I'm doing it to use it up and finish it, and I do when I don't mind smelling not all that great) but I won't buy again. Maybe it would be better for someone else who enjoys this kind of scent more, but not for me. I prefer sweeter, more candy-like and younger fragrances. It's waaay too mature and even old-ladish for me.
The bottle however, is absolutely hideous. One of the ugliest, cheesiest perfume bottles I have ever seen. It's soooooo ugly. I wish it was prettier. I would say the scent matches the bottle perfectly, it's the same style, if you know what I mean.

I like this scent. It's a sweetier scent, I prefer more of an oriental scent. Butterfly smells like sweet butter with perfume mixed in on me. The notes do not really come through, it just smells like sweet butter mixed with perfume. It's not offensive but not unique either. I much prefer Miss Dior Cherie becaues it has a freshness to it. If I'm going to wear a sweet scent I want something to balance out the sugary notes. Miss Dior Cherie starts with Stawberry, then fades with a nice sharper floral but is balanced by the carmel popcorn note. It is in my opinion the better of the two perfumes.

One of my all time favorites! Has a delicate but very sensual scent that gets me many compliments. Not too girly, not fruity, not sickly. Doesn't give me a headache and isn't overpowering at all. Expensive, but you can find it cheaper - and it is worth it.

Got this really cheap on fragrancenet or something unsniffed based on reviews. The packaging is very oldfashioned and it fits the juice inside.
It smells exactly like wet baby powder with a splash of somethign sweet. Sweet baby powder. I don't smell anything else. My nose screeches to a halt when confronted with the baby powder scent.
Your mileage may vary.

I love how this scent starts out - a fruity/almondy/vanilla praline confection - but the dry down smells a bit like talcum powder on me, which is why I am subtracting a lippy. However, aside from that slight powdery note, I still love it and would repurchase. Pricey at Sephora but you can get it for under $40 dollars (and sometimes under $30) on Ebay. It's a spring/fall scent for me...not quite a warm enough scent to wear during the winter, but a little too cloying during the dead of summer.

I tried a sample of this and after wearing it for several hours was so impressed I fell in love with it and have already used 1 bottle and bought another (on sell at amazon.com). Hanae Mori Butterfly is a lovely, ethereal, sweet vanilla-floral. It starts off very light on the skin but over time it actually gets stronger and more wonderful. Even though the overall scent is delicate and smooth, it's a tough little bugger. I was so impressed that it lasted all day. To me, it's a vanilla-floral-cashmere fragrance. Not syrupy sweet vanilla but an elegant, delicate vanilla. When I smell it on myself it makes me happy and cozy. I highly recommend Hanae Mori BLUE Butterfly (get either the parfum or BLUE butterfly - the pink and yellow butterfly formulations are less strong and have less lasting power).

This is my HG scent. I put this on and I love it, it lasts a long time and I've never gotten to the point where I can't stand it anymore as I do with other perfumes. Everytime someone hugs me I always get compliments, especially from guys. It's not overpowering like many others and this is the one I always wear when I don't know what else to put on. I always travel with it and sometimes put a dab on my pillow when I go to sleep.

This is my favorite scent! I marked 3 for price because you can get it so cheap on ebay. Its a tester usually but no different than dept. store only minus the cap. I LOVE this perfume, but with all scents to each their own. If you like oriental type fragrance however, simple kinda sweet very sexy, this is the one for you!!! Perfect!

I can't believe I actually like this as I hate smelling sweet like this. But somehow Butterfly manages to stradle the fence without going to the sickeningly sweet side (at least on me) I am much more of a musk, spice, floriental type person so this is definitely not "me" but somehow this does seem to work for me. I wouldn't think of wearing it during the warm months but for cold weather this one is something different for me. It's fun and flirty yet warm and snuggly at the same time. And it doesn't make me sick to my stomach or give me a raging headache like most sweet scents do so in my book that makes it a keeper.

As much as I like Butterfly, I don't love it enough to buy it again. There's something about it that just doesn't sit right with me... I think we all feel best about our perfume when it seems to meld with us, become part of us. Butterfly always just seems to sit right on top of my skin, never really blending with my chemistry. It's quite pretty, don't get me wrong... it just doesn't feel like "me." One thing I do like about this perfume is how you can actually pick out the individual notes if you think about it hard enough... even if your nose isn't that great (mine is pretty bad). The almond, for example... I find it so subtle but when I really think about it, it's right there. And not like an almond extract, it's a freshly-cracked, just bitten ALMOND. The bottle is also quite beautiful (I have a thing for plain, sturdy bottles with pretty caps). There are lots of positive things to say about this fragrance... unfortunately, like everything else, it won't work for everybody. Sad face.

This is my signature fragrance! I've been wearing it for almost a year now and am almost through my bottle (cry) even though I use it sparingly... the only thing I don't like about it is that upon spraying, at first I get a really sharp, almost alcoholy smell. But it soon changes to a wonderfully sweet (but not overly so) scent. I've had people compliment me on it, but I feel like it stays close to the skin - I always sniff my wrists when i have it on though. Good lasting power.

I love this perfume, very feminine, it reminds me of geranium, berries and jujubes, lol :-) I get a lot of compliments when I wear it, it has a place in my HG fragrance wardrobe. Will definitely buy again.

This fragrance will always have a place in my wardrobe! I love absolutely everything about it - from the initial berry notes to the base notes which smell very much like creamy vanilla and slightly woody. This is one fragrance that just seems to mesh with my skin and body chemistry and becomes part of who I am, rather than sitting in a layer on top of the skin fighting me! I find it sweet, but not overly so and in a warm and creamy sort of way that is unobtrusive. It is quite subtle and doesn't overpower in any way (on me anyway). I also agree with a review below that if you like this one, you would probably enjoy Narciso Rodriguez for Her as well - I wouldn't say they smell similar, but if Hanae Mori suits your body chemistry like a glove, then NR most likely would too. Might add that I bought a 100ml bottle purely on reviews from here without ever having tried it, as it's virtually impossible to find here in Australia. Got it on ebay from a US seller and am ever so glad I did - it's simply divine!

Love the strawberry note, but this is too sweet on me. This fragrance smells great on others though and it is very long lasting. Worth a try. Get samples first to see if it works with your chemistry. The reason I say this is because I've made some expensive mistakes of not being able to obtain a sample of a fragrance, just to be dissappointed that I bought it and didn't like it, etc. However I got samples of this one, but not FBW for me.
