When I first began using this product (in conjunction with the softener), my skin plumped out. My cosmetic dermatologist commented how great and healthy my skin looked. After a few weeks, I don't know what happened. I began breaking out. Granted, I break out whenever I come into contact with molecules. Still, I was saddened. I began using it only at night but it wasn't as effective as the heavier Cetaphil Cream. I can't justify a repurchase. UPDATE 11/2008: My acne has been controlled by twice per week lactic acid peels. I thought I'd give this night cream another shot. My skin is happy I did. It looks younger and beautiful. I can't believe I wrote Cetaphil was better. That cream is pure evil to my skin, as in cystic acne. Do I recommend Shiseido? Yes. Yes, I do.

This is one of my staples…A cream you’ll always come back to when you need a 24h cream and you do not have a clue about what to buy.
I have been trying loads of new creams, serums etc….I like to switch products – for the rule is never get your skin get used to the same active principles - and this is a product I always come back to. The Advanced Bio Performance is an asset in your beauty case!
Lightweight but VERY moisturizing and nourishing, I use it in winter time (as I have a combo skin). It really fights de-hydratation and redness, may you have some. This is the cream I have recommended to my friends through the years, as I have not yet found a person that is unhappy with it.
Definitely a must have!

EDIT: the picture loaded above is WRONG!! This picture is for the Restoring Bio Performance, that has a tan jar & golden cap, and is for mature skin.
The “Classic” Advanced Bio Performance had white jar with a silver cap!

I tried the restoring cream instead for a few days. Initial reaction is that its extremely dense and thick. It not so ideal for a daytime mosturizer, unless you have extreme dry skin. For my normal skin, it was too heavy, didn't aborb and lay on my face, and left a dewy film. After the third applicaiton, the skin started to react, and absorb it a bit more. The skin is soft, not sure if there any longer term benefits. Can't be confident, but I do see that my face is alittle bit clearer, looks more awake. I would like to try it again as a treatment for winter days, or when my skin needs that extra boost! Lots of $$$$$

Great mosturizer. Its very concentrated so a little goes a long way! It's also AWESOME on chapped lips (just don't lick them right after!) No breakouts! (I'm pale w/ moody skin)

I've been using Shiseido's skincare ever since I was 11. This is great for the dry patches I sometimes get. I know this is meant for women with mature skin, but it works great for me! It moisturizes and smooths the dry patches in about one or two days!

I used this years and years ago when I used Retin A. It helped when it got dry and sore in the winter time. Amazing it did make me break out than and it still doesn't now. I find that glycerin is good for moisturizing but when I need something more, this works very well. I don't like that it's in a jar so I have to put my fingers in it. The smell is kind of strong too but it goes away quickly. EDIT: I added a drop or two of glycerin and found it works even better. I still reach for coconut oil before this but I like this on my cheeks.

This is by far the BEST moisturizer I've ever used! My skin became so dry after we moved to Arizona. This cream restores my skin back to normal. And it keeps my face hydrated whole day. If you live in a dry climate or your skin is dry, I would recommend this product. I figure out that I can get it cheaper at Costco.

I really, really wanted to like Shiseido. I mean REALLY!! So this review is as honest as it can get, because I came into it wanting to like this. The initial application is wonderful, the product felt silky smooth on my skin. It has a really nice texture.

Unfortunately, this product has caused me to break out on several different spots on my face (chin, jaw, nose and forehead). If it were one breakout, I might attribute it to hormones, but since there are all over my face, and follow using this product exclusively, I know it's to blame. And these are so painful! :o(

Dissapointed doesn't even BEGIN to cover how I feel about this product. I'm scared to try anything else from the line now...

Side note: I do own & use the Benefiance Concentrated Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream and enjoy it very much. But, alas, Shiseido face creams are not for me!

I love this product! It transformed my skin completely! I have dry, sensitive skin that flakes and gets occasional redness due to skin asthma. On a trip to Japan I headed to the shiseido counter to get some recommendations for new moisturizer, especially because my nose was peeling from some sunburn. She recommended the Advanced Super Revitalizer N (whew) and in just a few days the sunburn was completely gone and my skin had transformed from dry and flakey to powdery smooth!

I couldn't get over how it changed the texture of my skin so well. I'm only 25 and I know this product is recommended for older skin but until I found this moisturizer I hadn't come across anything that had left me this impressed. After about a month of usage (day and night) i realized that now that my skin had gone back to normal I needed to find a lighter moisturizer for daytime use. I still use this as my night cream and i wake up the next morning with super soft skin. It hasn't caused any clogged pores or breakouts either. I use this in combination with The Skincare Extra gentle foaming cleanser and the hydro balancing softener.

This stuff is amazing... it made me go back to an all shiseido skincare regimen!

I like this stuff. I have oily, sensitive acne prone skin and this is very comforting on my skin without making me feel like I'm going to break out (or actually breaking me out). But it's really heavy for day time, especially in Texas and it's super expensive (I have buyer's guilt over getting this). I mostly use it at night now and am looking for something else for daytime. I also don't love the jar thing, unsanitary even though I use a spatula to get stuff out. Not sure if I'll buy again since I haven't seen any real difference in my lines (around mouth).

This cream makes my face itch like crazy -- especially around my neck and jawline. The only ingredient that I suspect could be the culprit is "squalane", but I haven't tried enough skincare with that ingredient to be absolutely sure that's what is causing the irritation. Apart from that, I would have loved to use this as my night cream. It has the perfect thick consistency that sinks in and plumps up the skin. It hydrates for hours as well -- the next morning after I first applied this moisturizer, my skin was radiant with no dull or dry patches whatsoever. It's just the darn itching!!! What's strange is that I see no visible rashes or bumps...my skin LOOKS really good, but it's uncomfortably itchy in patches. *sigh* I should have sampled this at the counter, but there weren't any samples available -- it's quite a pricey product ($88 for 2.6oz). ~~~INGREDIENTS: water * glycerin * cyclomethicone * butylene glycol * dimethicone * cetyl octanoate * squalane * dimethicone copolyol * disteardimonium hectorite * hydrogenated C6-14 olefin polymers * PEG-150 * mortierella oil * phytosteryl macadamiate * tocopheryl acetate * stearyl glycyrrhetinate * arginine HCl * PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil * sodium glutamate * disodium adenosine triphosphate * saccharomyces lysate extract * sodium acetylated hyaluronate * rosa roxburghii extract * octyl methoxycinnamate * agar * sodium hexametaphosphate * trisodium EDTA * tocopherol * BHT * ethylparaben * phenoxyethanol * butylparaben * methylparaben * fragrance * iron oxides

this is the review for the whitening formula. I got it for $65 from Costco as opposed to $95 in a retail store. i can't say enough good things about this product. i had horrible acne scars resulting from use of Proactive (the worst acne treatment ever) that have been there for a year. tried many spot lightening ingredients, AHA, BHA, kojic acid, Vit. C, retinol, hydraquinone...you name it, but none of them worked as effective as this. i noticed the difference immediately after the first couple applications. now it's only been 2 weeks, and my scars are almost gone and barely noticable. i'm so happy with the result, and am gonna grab some more to stock up for future use.

This is a very rich moisturizer for the dry skin or delicate areas around the eyes. I have been using this product for more than five years now. Love it. The quality of this moisturizer as a rich substance is instantly felt as soon as you apply to the right area. The top of my nose bridge near my eyes in particular benefit from being pampered by this. I am most paranoid of lines around my eyes and this is the product I use to give my eyes what it needs, before sleep at night and once in the mornings before my day begins.

The texture is pleasant, the scent is natural and subtle, and the packaging is alright. I think I would prefer a more practical package rather than a round flat-ish one, as it is.

I love this product almost purely for cosmetic reasons : it is extremely pleasant to use - it has such a pleasant silky texture and lovely scent. It is also a pretty effective moisturizer, however, my combination skin can still get dry patches even when using this, and I find it too rich for the oily t-zone. I would repurchase this however, solely because it is pleasant and non-irritating to my sensitive skin.

The product itself is magnificent. It moisturizes, evens out my complexion, and smooths out my skin. However, for the price, I still have not decided whether it is worth it or not. Still deciding...

What am I missing? I think my skins seems moist and smooth, but the texture of this on my skin leaves much to be desired. It does not sink in and leaves a sticky film. Not pleasant. Will not repurchase. I am 50 with normal to dry skin; used to be oily.

Got this as a sample and I've been using at night with The Skincare night cream. This is a great product for my very dry cheeks and I don't even need to wear foundation anymore (except on special occasions of course). A bit expensive for me but I'll buy it once the sample runs out, just in case my cheeks dehydrate again.

I have used this cream for about 7 years and I liked it. I stopped using it for about 2 years because I wanted to try something else on the market. Basically got bored with the same cream. But I tell you, I tried so many other moisturizers and nothing compares to this cream. I had to buy it again. Been using for 2 weeks and simply in love again. My face is glowing and very soft. My husband can't get enough of touching my face. :) I know its very rich and I had pimples sometimes from using it too much. You only need a tiny amount and first rub in your hands and then gently tap your face around. You don't need much. I have normal to dry skin.
