I've been wearing MAC skin foundations and powders for probably 10 years, and I have to say that while the color I got with this particular product didn't match me perfectly, I did like the weight of the coverage over my acne prone skin, and the finish.
Now here's the bad-- recently I switched over to a new foundation (Benefit's Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation) and discovered, much to my shock, that off of my MAC skin regimen-- my skin, for the first time in a decade, cleared up. Seriously. It really -WAS- MAC products that were breaking me out. So, while I know there are those who will always swear there are other reasons for breakouts on MAC products-- for all my girls having trouble kicking their bad skin and who've never abandoned their MAC foundations and powders, I say-- give it a try for a month and you might see a big change.

Absolutely love this product. Accurate colour range, velvet to the touch on your skin and not a bad price for a foundation that works for me. Previously I tried studio fix but found the colours either too yellow or too orange. This is my all time foundation. Highly recommend.
UPDATE!
Ive been using this foundation for around 3 months and i love it. I switch between this and MAC pro longwear because i dont want my matchmaster to run out. Its lasted me since november and i have just purchased my second bottle. I just love this! Please dont hesitate to try. You wont be disappointed

*crosses fingers* I think I've found a MAC foundation that works for me. After trying Select SPF and Studio Sculpt (both broke me out) and Studio Fix Fluid (couldn't find a great match -- the normal NW15 didn't work out for me), Matchmaster is working out great. The shade 1.0 seems really light and yellow when it goes on my skin, but once it blends in and sets, it's a perfect match. The coverage is buildable, too, which I like. One pump gives a nice, sheer coverage, enough to even out my redness when I'm having a pretty good skin day. Two pumps provides a more medium coverage, and three pumps I find is a bit too much. It also hasn't broken me out! Yay!

I've used a couple of samples of this, and loved it. Shade 1 is perfect for my pale skin, and the semi-matte finish looks nice. I found it easy to blend with my fingers, but didn't have a chance to try with a brush. I'll definitely look into buying this when I'm finished with my current bottle of foundation, despite the high price (AU$59.00).

I went to MAC to pick up my 4857th bottle of studio fix fluid and my usual SA asked if I had tried matchmaster. I said no since I thought foundations that that "adjust to your skintone" were all gimmicks but he insisted that I give it a try since "its like SFF but with a better finish, especially if youre oily". It gives less coverage than studio fix fluid but I like the natural finish of this better and the liquid really does adjust to your skin tone! it came out orange but once i started blending it, I could see the foundation turning lighter into my skintone. I also like that it already contains a pump unlike SFF and also contains the same SPF. it lasts just as long as SFF, maybe even longer since I dont get oily as fast and it doesnt break me out. I have found my everyday foundation :) Im a NC40 and my match was 5
UPDATE: this stuff oxidizes, will be returning to my studio fix fluid.

It goes on perfect it makes my skin look amazing, but within 2-3 hours I get super oily, even with my routine to control my oil it doesnt work. It also turns a shade darker after a while. I still use it from time to time but I dont think I'll be repurchasing again...unless I find something that I can combine it with and it wont make me oily.

great foundation, less matte than SFF, better shade for my nc10 skin that nc15 sff is. Like the bottle but not the pump lid. Its a bit annoying i prefer the SFF pump. Another HG product from mac. Lasts all day.

I have normal/dry skin and this foundation was quite matte, but it didn't dry out my skin and lasted all day, which is great. However, what i hated about this foundation was that it had so much sparkles in it, I don't think other people noticed the sparkles but I felt really uncomfortable with it on. What I usually love about Mac foundations is that they have a yellow undertone which looks nice on my skin colour seeing as I have an olive skin complexion, however I felt that my skin complexion looked abit grey and really dull whilst wearing this foundation.

Wierd scent. Oxidises badly and gets even darker throughout the day, so sample first if you have oily skin. Shade 1 is even darker and more orange than NW15 so I don't recommend if you have very fair skin. Mac should consider putting out a NW 05 - NW 10 foundation to suit paler skin, there is a market out there!!

My Favorite Foundation from Mac.
I've been going a bit tanner recently but this product still match my skin well *Thumbs up* It's medium coverage and not oily. When in rush, I just only use this and my face is ready to go. I do apply an additional layer where i need to conceal tho. One more thing, this dries quickly so you need to work fast.

I really love this foundation and i have brought it 2 times :) even though it is pretty expensive from where i am from the results are worth it. For me, it doesn't cake at all, doesn't make my face greasy. It does get a bit boring though when u wear it everyday...

I just finished my first bottle and have recently repurchased another as I absolutely love this foundation. The formula is silky, blends so easily into my skin, provides medium coverage, contains SPF15, sets to a semi-matte finish, and wears extremely well all day without oxidizing or looking cakey. Super impressed with the packaging too, love the pump that can be easily closed with a twist of the cap. I wear the shade '1' and its a flawless match to my complexion, for reference I wear MAC NC15, Bourjois 51 Vanille Clair, Revlon Colorstay in Buff, Vichy Dermablend in Opal, Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in Ivory Rose, NARS Deauville, and Revlon PhotoReady in Vanilla.

I have been using this foundation over one month now. I am somewhere between NC30 - NC35, and using 3.0. The color matched me perfectly. The SA at Mac counter said it's a mid coverage foundation, but I found this cover pretty on my face. Well this is my first Mac foundation so I can't really compare to other popular ones. I use my hands to apply this and gives me the most nature finish. It dried down pretty fast on my face, so I have to work apply section by section on my skin. It has pretty much keeps me matte all day, and the staying power is amazing! (last me up to 8 hrs) I don't use powder to set my foundation except my nose area. Because I found out if I set my foundation, about 4-5 hrs later my nature oil mix with powder look crease around my mouth area. Dont get me wrong. It happened on all foundation I use. This is not the only one. I think this foundation is great for summer use. But it might be a bit too dry for winter. I am not sure, but I will try for sure!

This is one of the best I've tried. I use it in 1.5 which the mac girl picked for me. When I started to put it on it looked awful like yellow, but when blended in it's fine, lives up to its "matchmaster" name. I have no problems with this oxidising at all.Good at controlling oilies as well, as well as any I've found anyway. My previous favourite was the revlon colorstay which I still like, but what I hate about colorstay is it's a devil to remove. The Mac one reoves easier.Matchmaster looks very natural on, almost like you're not wearing much make up. I wouldn't say it is full coverage, best with colorstay for that. But this is a very good foundation. a little pricey but worth it.Wouldn't recommend for dry skin though.

I've had this for a while now. One morning, I decided to go in my unused make-up drawer and found this lying there right in front of me and I thought MEH why not try it again (I forgot how it was for my skin). Right now I am using Hourglass Immaculate and it's the best mattifying liquid to powder foundation EVER for my very oily t-zone. But because it's so damn expensive (about $70.00CAD with tax), I wanted to look for an alternative and use the Hourglass for nicer occasions. So I tried this on...and it's summer right now. I must say, I'm surprised how it ACTUALLY keeps me matte hmmm pretty much ALL DAY. How did I forget! Why didn't I keep on using it?? Why is it in my drawer?!? The color actually matches me! I'm about a NC40-NC42 right now cause I got tanned (normally nc25-35 when pale), But my face fades really quick like 1 week quick, compared to the rest of my body (from exfoliating my face), so the foundation won't match my neck. If my face didn't fade, it will match my neck. I mean..this foundation DOES say Matchmaster right...so it will adjust to whatever color you have. REALLY GOOD foundation for oil control.

I am really liking this. I have the strangest skin on earth and this is not irritating it so far. I mix it with lotion because its very matte. Even with my oily skin it is very drying, which is nice for a change. Tired of oily face. The coverage is also a bit much for me, I like tinted moisturizers but couldn't find one that wouldn't break me out. I am crossing my fingers on this one. I wear nw/nc 20 and have this in 1.5 and its perfect.
Update: Broke me out. I haven't the heart to discuss it further.

I thought this would be the answer to my prayers when MAC discontinued my fave foundation (StudioFinish in NW 45 and/or NC50). I was matched at a counter and of course the SA recommended the8.0. I took it and discovered that after several hours it oxidizes terribly dark and ruddy. I have also tried the 7.5 and it still looks "off". I am just trying to use the bottle I have and move on from this awful, overly expensive product.

I got this in 7.5. I'm an nc50 in studio fix. I was so excited about this foundation based on he description. By I'm afraid it's a fail for me. I've spent the last while looking for my HG foundation. Unfortunately this isn't it. The colour oxidises to a horrible red after a while. It melts off my face after like 2 hrs only regardless of how much I set it. Not impressed! It feels icky and transfers very easily. Never again. Thank god it didn't at least break me out!

I always use MAC's select spf 15 foundation, but I heard it's discontinued, so I decided to try this one. It looks absolutely gorgeous. I look like doll wearing no makeup. I also have acne prone skin, and it hides my acne marks well. I just hope it doesn't make me breakout. If it does, I will write an update.
The only problem with me is the smell. I have a very strong sense of smell. so I can still smell it after 4 hours. But I guess that's the sacrifice i'll have to make to have amazing looking skin.

After having a bad experience with MAC foundations, i decided to go into MAC & ask the makeup artist for some help, as i was determined to get a foundation that i would love. She recommended the new Matchmaster foundation, which is meant to match any skin tone perfectly. After buying it, i have just run out of my first bottle, which i've had for about 10 months. What i love about the foundation is that it really does match your skin, as soon as you blend it out, it just becomes the same colour of your skin. I never knew how fair skinned i was, as i have the concealer in NW15, the makeup artist matched me to the shade 1.0, which is the lightest, but like i said, it matches to your skin, so it warms up a bit and isn't so pale once it's on my skin. After reading reviews on it, here on makeup alley, many people say it's light to medium coverage, but i'd say more medium to heavy coverage, as it covers up everything on my face. I have combination skin, in which i still have to powder my face, but the foundation does help it. The only down side i have with the foundation is that, it is expensive and that sometimes it does give me dry skin, but overall, i really like it.
