I started using bare essentials when I first started using make up and I'm so glad I did! If you apply it right it works wonders, it covers up my blemishes and dark circles well. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing any foundation. I love this product and it has been an essential for almost five years now! I am completely shocked by the bad reviews this product has received. My only warning to new users is not putting on too much, like any powder it will look cakey. I love it and recommend trying this product with a good primer for the fact that you use less powder with a primer!

This was my first experience with mineral makeup. I hated it! Ended up bringing it back (purchased from a BareMinerals store). Made me look old and chalky. Highlighted my lines, and provided no coverage. It also didn't last very long, even with using the BareMinerals PrimeTime. I also found this extremely messy, and not travel friendly. I know many who love BareMineral products, but this just didn't work for me.

The first month my skin was fine, but after two months of using the product, my pores are more obvious and my skin breaks out more. Whats weird was that after I remove my makeup, I still get a lingering feeling of the powder still being on my face. I chucked the whole package and will not be buying this again.

PROS
-the finish is beautiful, gives a really pretty glow resembles a waxy candle
-Natural finish
-buildable coverage
-good for your skin
-dont look like your wearing makeup

CONS
-Not long wearing
-Not a lot of coverage
-Limited color range for fair/light skin tones. For me, Medium Beige is too dark and Fairly Light is too light. (MAC NW 20)
-Formula made me itch when sweating
-Doesn't conceal well

It does not give me enough coverage so I don't use it alone. I have to use a liquid foundation under it (dermablend). I use it to seal my liquid foundation and it adds a very natural glow that makes me look like I have natural healthy glowy skin!

i would never buy this product again! i bought the starter kit from sephora and i repurchased the foundation when i ran out once but i will never buy it again. when i would sweat or be in hot weather it made my face itch and it never really provided enough coverage. it emphasized my pores and wouldnt last more than an hour or two. it was just awful i had to go back to liquid foundation.

I have used many mineral foundations over the years, but this color and BE work best for me. I looks the most natural and matches my skin beautifully. It doesn't look mask-like or have that white cast, as I get with other mineral foundations. I'm glad that BE has more color choices now.

I hate the packaging of this product!! It spills EVERYWHERE!!

But other than that ~ it's the BEST FOUNDATION I have ever used. I hate foundations, all of them seem to feel very heavy on me, as if I was wearing a mask. This one, on the other hand is perfect. I dont feel it at all, sometimes I forget that I even have a foundation at all. It gives a very natural effect. Seems like my skin is naturally beautiful.

Many people complain that it gives you too much shimmer. I personally think, it's just the illusion. It gives you this healthy glow that other mineral foundation don't give. And believe I tried plenty of them.

Used with mineral veil and it will last from morning till late night.

I also noticed that it doesn't break me out and has improved my skin condition since most of the foundation block the pores.

Overall, it is a fantastic product. Unfortunately, I find it a little bit expensive. In UK it retails for £16 for only 2g. It last me a long time. Roughly 8 months since I dont use it that much.

This foundation has such good coverage and its also very flattering because it has a bit of a glow. My only problem with it is that it caused my skin to break out in these little bumps and they seem to get gradually worse and I had to stop using it even though I really love the way it makes my skin look. I did some research about that and I guess its from the bismuth that is in the foundation that will make people with acne-prone skin break out like that.

Recently I have been suffering with spots, which I think are hormonal as they are either on my cheeks or chin. After reading fantastic reviews about this product helping to reduce the appearance of spots and the possibility of them stopping, I wanted to give this foundation a try.

I unfortunately had a terrible skin irritation. My face burned and I mean burned. It went red, blotchy and itchy and it kept me awake at night, it was extremely uncomfortable. Having a look around the internet, I found out that an ingredient in this mineral foundation "Bismuth Oxychloride" can cause this same effect if you are one of the unfortunate people to be allergic to it.

On the plus side, the first time I used the foundation it gave me lovely coverage and the shade was just perfect...it did make my nose area abit shiny half way through the day but I have yet to find a foundation that completely takes this away by the afternoon.

Just be careful about this foundation. I ended up spending nearly £20 to use it only 3 times and then throw it away.

I often search for reviews from this 4rum but this is the first time I write a review. Just because this product is unbelievable horrible.
I bought this because so many people praise of it. I didn't know that I would be disappointed like this.
Wearing it, my pores are HUGE, my skin is DRY & OILY at the same time, my face is chalky and the color is not even.

I will never ever buy this product again!

HG HG HG . . . but only if you buy this color. I love medium beige for the summer. Its matches my tan skin perfectly, wears evenly, last all day and looks completely natural. Best of all, it doesn't make me break out, or irradiate my very sensitive skin. Love Love Love!
Okay, so that being said, I should add That This Is The Only Color That Does This For Me. When I lose my tan in the winter I have to switch to another foundation because all the lighter shades of BE look horrible on me. They give a weird sort of glow. Not the JLo kind of dewy glow, more like a disco ball 70’s glow. Ew! So if you are going to buy BE, make sure it’s this shade or none at all. :)
Oh, one last thing, if you do decide to go mineral and if you wear this shade you can also pair it with BE Flowers Blush for a pretty pink glow, or the BE Laughter Blush for a pretty peachy-pink glow.

This is truly my holy grail foundation!!! I've used this for over 7 years, and, though I may occasionally stray to try other (usually liquid) foundations...I ALWAYS come back to my Bare Minerals. It simply works the best for me, and has great staying power; whereas liquid foundations tend to oxidize to a funny color after a few hours. I constantly get compliments on my skin with my Bare Minerals. One tip: I have found that using a primer increases the staying power of this foundation (though even using it without one for years I never had any problems.) From reading many reviews over the years about this product...it seems as if the majority of people either love it or hate it. For me, it's true love!

I got the medium kit from sephora because one of the makeup artists from sephora told me it was my color. She put it on my face and it seemed like a good match considering BM doesn't have a wide range of colors. I have read that BM can cause itching due to the bismuth oxychloride in the product and I have to say it is true in my case. I really did like the glow it gave me though and it gave a very natural even skintone and covered my pores nicely. I have pretty dry skin, and even after I moisturized my face and primed it, it did look a little powdery. I walked around nyc for a whole day in the heat and i realize that after I sweated a little on my face the foundation looked amazing on my skin. I also realized that this color has a reddish undertone and is too red for my yellow/olive asian complexion but it doesnt exactly look like i have a mask on so I can pull it off. I really don't like how thsi makes my face itch so I don't really use this product even though I love the glow that it gives. if this was the right color for my skin and it didnt make my face itch, i would love this product.

This is the closest to my skin tone but it's still slightly off (a little too dark). Works well in summer, but in winter it's off (and the next lightest foundation is too pink for me). The coverage is ok, but I wish it had a little more. This tends to fade on me by the end of the day but I don't mind that too much.

I also have a love-hate relationship with this product. I bought my first full size product of bare minerals in January. I had a sample from the Bare Escentual store where they helped me pick out my combination. It worked very well and gave me a even complexion. But now that I have the full size one, I've got one or two pimples periodically. I'm not sure if its the best for my skin. I'm taking a break from this until my skin is better

edit > so now that i'm almost done with my first container, I realized that my skin is really bad. The more I use it, the more my skin is reacting...in a bad way. My skin tone is uneven, never happens, my skin is usually a fair-medium complexion. Especially my forehead, where there are blots of dark spots. My cheeks' pores are big. I can see them and its really make me uneasy. I'm really disappointed and I don't know what i can do to reverse this =(

I HATED this product, bought the starter set after the make up person did it for me, and it made my skin really dry and uncomfortable and just did nothing for the look of my skin whatsoever. I watched the DVD, was shown how to do it and I still thought it looked dreadful. The only thing I could do was mix the powder with a moisturiser to stop my skin being tight and I have never suffered dry skin before. Have gone back to Laura Mercier oil free foundation which is far better and gives excellent coverage.

I used this for a while and was then convinced that it wasnt good for my skin by Paula begoun and makeupalley..however I went back to try it again and realized that it works great for me. I dont use the concealer b/c it was very drying and I dont use the mineral veil b/c i dont feel it necessary...but this feels light and looks great and i dont see any of the photo problems others complain of
