This powder works well upon application but the finish doesn't last more than hour. I have normal to dry skin, yet somehow this powder starts to make my skin look oily after an hour of wear (minus 1 lippie). This is the only powder that makes my forehead look oily and I'm not sure why. I dock another lippie for the artificial smell of the powder. To me, it is on the border of overbearing and I can smell it on my face for hours after application. It's a bit nauseating. Sometimes I worry others may smell it, but my SO said he can't when I wear it. It smells like something my grandmother might wear. I'd rather spend more for a powder that lasts longer and doesn't smell.

Mostly out of curiosity but spurred by the reviews here, I bought a jar of this powder. I'm so glad I did. It's a very flattering powder, truly translucent, silky and light feeling; does a great job of controlling oil without looking dull or powdery, or settling into my lines or pores. I love the scent. It's old-fashioned, but beautifully classic, tasteful and well composed. It does fade after maybe 10 or 20 minutes and it's not overpoweringly strong to begin with. I wish I could buy it as a perfume but I hear that although Coty still makes L'origan, it is not very good after numerous reformulations. I'll just enjoy it when I touch up my powder.

I put it on over my exceptionally shiny-greasy sunscreen (vanicream spf 60) and it keeps me reasonably matte for 4 hours or even more.

It does come with a particularly cheap and useless puff "applicator". Chuck it out and use a good kabuki or other powder brush instead.

Edit 2 months later: I just love this stuff more the longer I use it. It works like a champ to cover that very shiny sunscreen -- looks like I ran an airbrush over my face. I had wonderful results pressing it into a vintage compact. Here are my tips for pressing this powder: use only TKB pressing medium, less than you think you need, and mix it VERY well -- a wire whisk vigorously employed for a good 5 minutes is a sensible plan -- because any clumps of pressing medium not incorporated finely will leave lumps in the pan after you run a brush or puff across. The pressed powder has stood up to being carried around in my backpack and even carried in the top of a Doc Marten for an entire long evening when I had no pockets.

I've actually been using the Fragrance Free version of this recently. Not the "Luminous", there IS a fragrance free regular finish version, it's just hard to find and looks the same as the Luminous except for the label on the back. I save the scented version for when I'm not wearing perfume and I feel retro and girly.

I love this! I use it to set my foundation or if I’m having a good skin day I dust it over my face with only a light face primer and concealer. It lasts all day, and is smooth and natural looking. It does have a fragrance to it and it bugs me little bit, because it smells like old lady perfume and is a bit strong, but I still love it to death! I have it in Translucent Extra Coverage and I also have the Fragrance Free Luminous Translucent shade. The fragrance free one, it still smells a bit but it's just not as strong and still works just as great. It does have shimmer in it so I don't like it as much because I like a more matte look.
You also get A LOT of product for a very small amount of your money! And it also has new packaging. Instead of the old fashion cardboard box (which I wish I could have gotten) its a plastic container. I've heard that when you take the sticker off, that keeps the product in, that it gets everywhere. So a little trick: Leave the sticker on and poke 3-4 holes through it with a bobby pin. You get the perfect amount of product! :D

I bought this in the plastic container in Naturally Neutral and it is perfeccccct! I'm really pale with freckles, I usually wear translucent pressed powder but this was calling to me for some reason. The translucent version of this looked too white and shimmery. Neutral is the perfect shade for me. It doesn't settle into pores, break me out, or look like I'm wearing anything. It's so soft and smooth mmmmmm :) For $7 you got a lot for your money too!
MOST importantly, it doesn't give me a weird cast over my freckles. I have a ton all over my face and it's so rare to find something that doesn't make me look washed out but still covers my red spots. I love this stuff!

I bought this in Transluscent after seeing an article about it on Yahoo about cult beauty favorites, and being a makeup junkie I couldn't believe I never heard of it! Luckily I was able to find it at a new CVS in my area. I've used powder on and off throughout the years to set my makeup but haven't found one I wanted to use religiously, but I think this may be it. Most of my experience has been with Cover Girl pressed and loose powder (made me kind of itchy and looked cakey), Everyday Minerals (too white and dry), and Silk Naturals (blended right in but didn't seem to do much at all). As soon as I put this powder on after working all day my complexion was instantly brighter, smoother, and matte. I can hardly believe what a fine dusting of this powder did for the look of my skin! I have a fair, cool complexion and this really evens my skin tone and hides my pores. I have no problem with the plastic container except that the holes could be just a tad bigger. I used mineral makeup for a few years so I am used to the sifter and container style. The puff is a nice addition for on-the-go but I prefer to apply setting powder with my BE featherlight brush. I think the container is cute and I'll probably leave it out on my vanity. The smell definitely reminds me of old things, but I don't mind it that much and it fades within 5 minutes. Now I just need to put some in a smaller jar to keep in my purse, because this is a lifesaver for when your makeup needs a refresher but you don't want to reapply foundation! I also can't believe the value of this - a huge container for $6.50, that is just ridiculous for a product that works this well! I might try the Naturally Neutral shade next, hopefully it is not too dark and might offer more coverage for under my eyes. You really can't go wrong at least trying this product if you need a good powder, if it doesn't work for you at least it doesn't break the bank!

I became curious about this product after I passed it for the first time at CVS, and I decided that I'd give it a try one of these days. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The powder itself is loose, but it has a very soft quality to it that will definitely stick to your skin, since I have fine hairs all over my face, this is a good thing indeed. I had heard on here about a fragrance that came with the powder, this I enjoy also, it reminds me of Baby soft. As for how it looks, I am greatly pleased to say that I could wear it with or without foundation. With foundation gives a great finished look, while without would cover my red areas and imperfections. For those with a ivory complexion, I recommend it :)

In the past I have never liked loose powder or translucent powder because even though it was supposed to be translucent it lightened my shade, especially in tan summer months, too much. Not this powder. It gives me a nice finish (to me it seems with a slight sparkle, not matte). It's very fine and gives me beautiful, light coverage. It doesn't change the shade of my liquid foundation. This is what I have used daily for the last year and I still have over half of the jar left. I use a blush brush instead of the puff for application. (The puff makes the powder heavy looking and cakey) the only down side is that you loose powder every time you open it and it gets all over. Other than that this is and will be for a very long tim my favorite face powder.

I bought this in the translucent shade. I really loved the smell, it made me feel fresh all day long! However, this powder oxidized my MAC foundation really bad. I usually apply the MAC blotting powder on top of my foundation. I ran out and thought to try the airspun powder. Was disappointed.

I love this powder for setting my concealer under my eyes. I use the translucent formula. I am NW45. The scent doesn't bother me at all. I've had mine for a while in the old packaging. I will probably have this for another year. There is so much.

Coty Airspun face powder is no longer available in Canada, to the best of my knowledge, so I picked some up recently on a cross border jaunt. What can I say about a product that has been around this long (obviously for a reason) and is "cheap and cheerful" - it costs little and does what it says - it's translucent and works extremely well to set liquid foundation and help give a finished look to the face and sort of hold everything in place and keep it all looking fresh. Yes, the smell is a bit "old lady-ish" but to me, that's part of its charm (and there is an unscented option available for those who can't abide the scent or are bothered by fragrances in cosmetics). I even like the puff it's packaged with. The puff keeps the powder from flying all over the place but I also like to use it to press the powder into my face before using a big powder brush to brush/buff it evenly around my face. Gotta love that it is so affordable and does a good job.

My review is for the Coty Airspun Loose powder in the shade Translucent Extra Coverage, and keep that in mind because I think the "extra coverage" is key here. I picked it up at Walgreens for $8.99 but I think you could find it cheaper in Walmart. There is so much powder in the container, will last for months if not longer... there is a strong fragrance so if that is going to bother you I think you will have to pass on this... I happen to LOVE the fragrance, it brings me back to the 70's.

OK, this powder is simply the cream of the crop, outstanding and amazing... and if you have dry skin don't worry because your skin will love this one! Forget what they always tell us about powder going into our fine lines and wrinkles and making us look ten years older, just forget it, will not happen with this powder! You can use this as a finishing powder or as a foundation. I applied the powder with the included puff, I dabbed it all over my face including lips and eyes and then I took my powder brush and brushed off the excess..... the finish that this powder will give your skin is unbelievable... they do not lie when they tell you on back of the container that it "hides tiny lines, wrinkles and blemishes and gives a new softness to your skin." It will just glide over your wrinkles and diminish the look of them...... leaves your skin with an airbrushed appearance and keeps your makeup looking beautiful from early in the morning until you decide to wash it off. I highly recommend this!.

I do like this. There is a lot of product, however I lose a fair amount of it from use because the powder gets everywhere. It's packaged similarly to mineral veil. The powder is supposed to be translucent, it mattifies my face pretty well, and doesn't seem to clog my pores. I hate the smell. I only rated this a 3 because there are many superior loose powders out there.

I suppose there is a reason why a product from 1935 is still around....its because its good!!! You get a lot for your money, and it has good setting. The only caution is to apply gradually, or you'll be covered in powder!

I love this powder! The smell, the texture, the color, and the age. I'm a total sucker for vintage anything, so my review may not be the most objective.

I really like this stuff though. It goes on smoothly, and I love the smell. It controls oil well and sets my 1930s foundations (Merle Norman Powder Base and Max Factor Pancake) very well. The vintage skincare thing is working for me. The lady at Walgreens thinks I'm funny when I come with my arms filled with Ponds Cold Cream, Pond's Dry Skin Cream, and the Coty powder.

Now, my major complaint is that they changed the packaging. I, for one, hate the new shifter plastic junk they use now. I can't ever get the correct amount of product to come out of the darn thing and it's ugly as can be! Plus, I like old stuff. I dislike when old stuff gets changed, especially for the worse.

Fortunately there are still the original boxes floating around. Also, this stuff is no longer made in the USA. If you find the original cardboard box, it's from here. If it's in plastic, it's from China.

I've used this powder for about 5 years, and I've gone through 3 containers before moving on to HE brands. I love my Chanel loose powder, but unfortunately during the winter it became too dark for me, so I decided to give this a try again. I have to honestly say I'm not a big fan of this anymore, while it works well for oil control it just does not compare to finely milled Chanel powder, and does not give my skin a very healthy looking finish. It looks a bit patchy, not as smooth, but it is not terrible, I doubt anyone but me would really notice. It is a great color for me, I have it in a light shade instead of translucent, it doesn't add coverage by any means, but it helps my foundation from oxidizing a bit. The scent doesn't bother me as it dissipates almost immediately after application. You can't beat it for the price, but I will be searching for something else to replace it, but in the meantime it works well enough.

This loose powder is absolutely wonderful! It is very finely grained, and provides a flawless finish to my makeup. It prevents my foundation from wearing down and keeps my oily t zone matte all day long! The prize is amazing for the large amount of product that you get (I bought mine at CVS for about $7). I recommended it to my sister (who is olive-toned in opposition to my very pale complexion) and she was surprised by how transcluscent it really was! She now swears by it, as well.

Because of all of the product packed into the container, it was difficult at first to get product out, but after a use or two, I had no trouble. The scent is very nostalgic and "grandmotherly," but I love it all the same. I was not pleased with the powder puff included, I found it a bit difficult to clean and it didn't provide an even coverage of the power. So I just replaced it with the e.l.f. Kabuki, and I'm loving life!

I will repurchase and repurchase and repurchase!

I have been using Coty loose powder for many years. I am 56 and my Grandmother used it and she would have been 106 now. She passed when I was 4 so that tells you how long ago that was. She was a make up girl as all of the girls in my family are. I swear by this product and have tried others buy always went back to Coty. My coworkers always comment on my make up because it looks flawless. I apply my foundation, then pat my entire face and below my jawline then brush off my face. This sets the foundation and powder together and then I use my compact to touch up during the day. Pat your face when touching up so it keeps the make up looking good. I am a beliver that expensive does not equal good. I get asked all of the time what I buy and I tell gals tha I love cheap make up! I but what is tried and true, Cover Girl, Maybelline, Loreal. I have done the department store stuff, all of the high end things and always went back to my dime store makeup.
