*See above site for how healthy this really is. On scale of 10, where 0 is best, this scores a 3, but that is only because ingredient "fragrance" can be questionable, but myself, I choose to trust that their botanical fragrance ingred is of a quality & healthy source. Othwerwise it would score a 1or 2, great!
*I hate that this costs so much $18, but think I will rebuy becasue it is the BEST natural deoderant I have found. Better odor control than Tom's of Maine Long Lasting which I get many referrals to use. Better than Tom's or any other I've been referred to when shopping at Henry's Marketplace/Whole Foods those kinds of places.
*No comment on antipersperant abilities since I didn't really test that(don't think its supposed to be an antipersperant anyway)
*goes on well, don't really have to let it dry, non-irritating, nice light scent (I got grapefruit-van), lasted me about 2.5months using 1x daily, non-white? don't remember, I think it would show a bit, just be carfeul when dressing & be happy that its natural, that's priority, in 2008 @ age 25 I had a benign fibroadenoma growth removed from chest & had always used the strongest%aluminum deod I could find, now I avoid those kind.
*It was unsatisfactory if I had physical activity, like gym, or a speedy 1/2 mile of walking that I do from parking spot to desk.
*yes, sometimes I was disappointed that it allowed my clothes/underarms to get body odor, but if I had nothing more than rested walking & a day @ the desk, it often did well and I didn't have to throw my shirt in the wash.
*Again, despite any gripes I've mentioned, this is the best natural deod thus far, and natural is my #1 priority, but the search will continue, in the meantime Lavanila is it!

I got this in Vanilla Grapefruit and I love the scent. It's soft and fresh smelling. It is also the only natural deodorant that works for me. I have tried ALOT. I am very pleased with this and am so happy I found a deo that works and is natural. The price is way too high though, that's the only down fall so far. I haven't had to try twisting it up yet either, so we will see if I have problems with that. Otherwise, great product!

Fabulous natural deodorant. I have tried several of them out there and this is by far the best. I can wear it almost all day without reapplying it and I still smell great! My husband loves this stuff too in the vanilla scent. I am going to try Origins No Offense as it is a little bit cheaper...we'll see if it can compare.

This isn't bad. Like some of the other reviewers, I have had mixed results with natural deodorants in general. For instance, Tom's of Maine completely failed to work at all for me. This deodorant actually works - at the end of a hot day, I didn't smell bad, and my sweating was under control. I guess my big problem is with the price tag - it's just too much for me to spend on deodorant. Also, the smell is just OK. I have the vanilla coconut. I wish it was more coconut, and less vanilla - the scent ends up being a bit too generic/baby powdery for my taste. This was a nice splurge but I will go back to Dove sensitive skin formula after I use this up.

Delicious light fragrance - I love the Vanilla Grapefruit one! It's a solid deodorant, so like all of them, it does leave a little white streaking depending on application. Not too drying, slightly moisturizing without being wet. This is one pricey deodorant, so I'll be using it sparingly. UPDATE: I've upped my rating - this is now my go-to deodorant. I find that it works better than the Tom's of Maine stuff for fighting odor (that stuff seems to run out part way through the day).

First day using it and I have to say that I love it. The smell has lasted all day (and it's a great smell - not too vanilla-ish) and I haven't smelled any sweat off of myself (and that's a big deal for me). I'll keep you posted, but I love this vanilla-lavender deodorant so far.

UPDATE: This deodorant can and will turn your white clothes yellow if you sweat a lot in it. The yellow will wash out, but it's embarrassing to sweat and then see yellow.

Well, I first purchased the vanilla scent and tried it out. It seemed to work okay, but I did have to reapply later on in the day. I figured this is was the price I had to pay to live an aluminum free life. So, I went ahead and purchased the other scents so I could have some variety. The lavender is the absolute worst, in my opinion, and produced a funk that I never even knew could emanate from my body. It wasn't my natural funk at all. I also bought the lavender for my mother, a breast cancer survivor, when I ordered mine. She had the same results with the lavender scent as well. I also tried pairing the Thai crystal stick with the LaVanilla deodorants as well and that seemed to work better. To keep dry, I also splashed on a little of Lush's coconut powder deodorant and that was okay as well. I am trying everything to keep from wearing Secret again, but I suppose I'll have to do a few more trial and error tests before I perfect wearing natural aluminum free deodorant.

I had high hopes for this. I bought the vanilla scent. It is extremely expensive. When I pay that much, I expect it to really work. I am a tough case - I sweat through antiperspirants and I need clinical strength for the odor to be controlled. The only thing that has worked on 'better' days for me is the Thai Crystal Rock. And yes, on some other days that doesn't work for me either. BUT, this does not work. At all. So if you have issues and need a lot of control - save your money - I doubt this will do for you - it lasted about 3 hours before failing. I have also tried Lavilin - the one that is supposed to last for days - that doesn't work well for me either. HTH

I'm a definite yes on this one. Honestly, I don't have much of a problem with excessive sweat or BO when I do sweat, so take this for what it's worth. That being said, though, I think the smell of this is fantastic; it lingers throughout the day, and I'll catch a whiff of it and really enjoy the smell. I also do feel it does a decent job of keeping me dry. Obviously, as others have pointed out, it's not going to be effective in the same way as would some of the less natural, more strong deodorants on the market, but for what it is I think it's quite good. I'll definitely be repurchasing.

I LOVE this product so much. I was very hesitant because of other reviews, but deodorant works differently on everybody so it's really a product you have to try for yourself. All I can say is that it works great on me. I have tried two different clinical strength deodorants hoping it would relieve me of getting wet stains on my clothes. They didn't work AT all. I was so shocked to see that this product - with no aluminum - is able to keep me completely dry. And I'm not exaggerating. I think I've only noticed getting sweaty once but it was really hot outside. I didn't notice any BO even with the heat. I definitely recommend this product.

Gosh, okay. I really, really wanted to like this product. I've been on a 'natural' kick lately, and read all the great reviews on here so I went to Sephora and bought the Vanilla Lavendar scent (I thought it smelled the best). So anyway, the next day I was excited to try the deodorant but the results I got were very disappointing. Right when I put the deodorant on it started to tingle, and I really didn't think much of it. Well, about 5 minutes later my underarms got very red and starting BURNING so bad I was shaking. I rinsed it off with soap and water, and finally found some relief. I returned the product back to Sephora and got my $18 back. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing again.

I so wanted to love this product but it did not work for me. Lasted only three hours on me. Thank God that I was at home and not out in public, because I would have wanted to run and hide. I am still on a search for a natural deodorant that works better.

HUGE disappointment. I don't know how this can work for so many people and be such a disaster for me... not fair!!

I used the Pure Vanilla scent and instantly loved the packaging, the shape of the deodorant, and the way that it smelled. In this area, it gets high marks from me. However, it just didn't prevent odor the way that other natural deodorants do for me. My only activity on the days I used it was 20 minutes of yoga. I thought it was a fluke or maybe I didn't use enough, but it just doesn't last more than 4 or 5 hours on me even with NO activity!

This review is for the Plain Vanilla scent.

Wow. I really love this deodorant. I have tried a lot of other "natural" deodorants and i was still left stinky by the end of the day. Not to mention, they all felt quite unpleasant under my arms.

I also have tried all the regular deodorants, even the clinical ones. Most didn't work for me after a short while, some didn't work right away. I have, unfortunately, been blessed with b.o. so - it's very important i find something that works.

I was skeptical about this deo, because it is a natural one. But - the bottle said it was clinical strength, and i got it from sephora, so if i didn't like it, at least i could get my $18 back.

I've been using it a week and so far so great! Put it under fresh clean armpits, the texture is good, not wet, not sticky. and you are good to go. i've had my husband smell my armpits at the end of each day as a smell test and he says it's great!

He's even used it a few times and it worked for him for b.o. but he stopped using it because of wetness.

I got the plain vanilla scent because i found the other ones were a bit masculine or smelled like b.o. right off the bat. this one was the most feminine imo.

Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it works. You get a large about of product and i haven't noticed white marks on my clothes.

go out and try this. give it at least a week. i'm sure you'll love it too!

Edit:

Wow. The day i decide to review this the deo poops out on me. It's been 9 hours and i have b.o. I don't know how that can be, since i've mostly been sitting around in an office all day. if it was the really light walk i took at lunch then i am shocked.

I'll continue to use this and hope it's a fluke, but the light is fading slowly.

Is it weird to actually look forward to putting on your deodorant each day? I totally do, it's becoming a slightly odd morning pick-me-up. I bought this in Grapefruit and the scent is so addictive. Everytime I raise my arms or move around I get just a hint of it and I'm always surprised at how beautiful it smells without leaning towards the artificial or cheap realm.

Scent aside, this feels so amazing on my skin. It's incredibly soothing. My skin gets irritated easily from harsh chemicals or strong ingredients and this has been such a relief. I have been using Kiehls deodorant for years but it's in a cream form that has to be squeezed out of a tube and rubbed in, and I don't always want to fuss with that in the mornings. Also, the Kiehls deodorant has no smell and I like a fragrance to my body products (as long as it's subtle).

This absorbs instantly and I haven't had a problem with residue or it transfering onto my clothing. I like the hard-balm texture too. I've never come accross a similar consistancy in a deodorant before.

So all my enthusiasm for scent/feeling/texture aside--this works. It keeps me feeling fresh and a little drier, and when I do sweat it smells good. The price is reasonable for the amount and how long it lasts (a couple of swipes goes a long way). I'm going to by the other scents so I can switch back and forth. Highly, highly recommend!!

This is one of my favorite product brands. After I read the reviews for their new deodorant on this website, I ran to my local Sephora store to buy the deodorant. It was the most expensive deodorant I have ever purchased ($18). Unfortunately, after using it for almost two weeks, I am disappointed. The smell is very over powering and my underarms have a white film on them (which I discovered after the film wore off on my purple sleeveless dress). I have gone back to my stone.

Edited to add: Pure Vanilla was the fragrance being reviewed.

Over the last few years I have been trying to use more natural products and avoiding chemicals and irritants. Switching to a more natural deodorant has been the hardest thing for me, until now. I have tried Tom's of Maine, while it smelled nice, it just was not effective. I tried the crystal rock and found it very inconvenient. The roll on rock was not any better. I ran across the Lavanila product on the Sephora website. The price was very high to me, but I figured I would give it a try anyway. I have been using this deodorant for about 4 days now, and I am very impressed! I personally don't have an issue with heavy sweating, but I have found this does help avoid sweating. The smell is great (I have the plain vanilla scent). By the end of the day I still feel and smell fresh. If this stick lasts a decent amount of time, I will break down and shell out another 18 bucks for a deodorant!

I think you want to buy this product? I'm into my second week of using this. It's a little muggy where I live and has been pretty warm lately, so I feel this has gotten a fair test. This is, of course, a deodorant and not an anti-perspirant, so do not expect absolutely dry axillae. That said, of the deodorants and natural deos/anti-perspirants that I have tried, this works quite well. I have vanilla grapefruit - though the smell has nothing to do with grapefruit. It's kind of a light masculine, which is fine, and after the initial few minutes, I don't smell it during the rest of the day (horrifying Dove deodorants, I'm talking to you). You will sweat, moderately, (I haven't noticed it on my shirts though) and by the end of the day you may smell the weensiest little bit but it's strangely inoffensive (and I mean you have to really put your nose under your arm. I don't believe anyone else can smell it). With other natural deodorants all I can think is, what great funk is this? The ingredient list is great - cornstarch, natural extracts, beta-glucans, ferments... You must, however, be scrupulously clean and use this everyday - it not being aluminum fortified, missing a day would be bad news in the summer, I think. If you are concerned about the possible links between aluminum and Alzheimer's, this is the best option I have found.

I used this deodorant for a few weeks to really see how well it worked, and am happy to report that it's great. I only wear natural deodorants (without aluminum) and have tried MANY different brands, and this is among my two favorites. It controls odor very well and stays effective all day. I purchased the vanilla and coconut, there seems to be little discernable difference in fragrance, though. My only complaint is that it left white marks on my dark clothing.

This review is for the Lavanila Healthy Deodorant Stick in Vanilla Lavender (see pic from Sephora website).

Overall: Great product, I am very pleased after having used it for a few days instead of my usual antiperspirant. Under normal conditions I am not a heavy sweater so this fits the bill for me unless I travel to the tropics. And of course "natural and heathy" always sounds pretty good :)

Pros:
-Very pleasant smell, mostly vanilla with a bit of lavender, not overwhelming, just right
-Does not irritate my sensitive skin
-Works well keeping odor at bay, even through strenuous workouts
-Nice packaging, comes in stick form

Cons:
-$18 for deodorant is not cheap, so price would be my only caveat

In order to put the price in perspective, I will have to see how long the stick lasts.
Got mine at Sephora for $18 per 1.7 oz stick. Yes, I will repurchase.
